I visited Love Face & Body Spa (bought & rebranded) for the first time yesterday for a facial. I…read moreoriginally had booked the Advanced Renewal facial but my esthetician Kayelyn actually said I didn't need that exact facial because my skin is still young as I'm not yet in my 30s. She instead recommended I do the YonKa dry skin facial which is actually cheaper than what I originally booked. I love that she picked what would be best for my skin without trying to upsell a more expensive facial. I'm not well versed in skin care so I really liked that Kayelyn walked me through everything she was doing and the reasons why. Most times you just lay there in silence and while I do like sometimes to just relax and fall asleep, I really appreciated the skin care education and I was still able to relax as well. But I feel like I have a better idea of what my skin needs and how I can achieve it. The only reason I'm rating this 4.5/5 stars is because I normally like some lip care during my facials and this was lacking that. I really liked the essential oil toner she used and ended up purchasing it afterwards. The scent is heavenly and made my skin feel great. I normally don't purchase skin care products after my facials but I really liked the YonKa brand products she used on my face. You should definitely head over to Love Face & Body Spa and have Kayelyn give you a facial! You won't regret it.

However, I was really disappointed with my most recent experience. I heard there was new management, so perhaps that was reason. I showed up on time, but due to a number of people checking out and checking in, I settled into my room more than 10 minutes late. My massage was actually really good, but it ended more than 10 minutes early - which ultimately 20 minutes shorter than I paid for in total, given the late start. I was also charged $30 more for my massage than the rate published online ($140 for a 90 min massage). My friend went for a facial a week before me and said that her service ended more than 10 minutes early too. Overall, good massage but felt ripped off given I was overcharged $30 and the massage was cut short by ~25%. Will not be returning and for those of you who go - be really explicit on the timing / duration of your service.

She charged me a late fee of $150 that I was never made aware of when I had to cancel my appt after it took them 2 days to verify when it was. They do not have any problem sending me text messages of promotional spam and emails but can't email me back in a timely manner then charge me a fee I never agreed to or was made aware of. I was also falsely accused of no shows and late cancellations in the past which is completely untrue. I am so disappointed in the way I was treated after being one of her first clients and a supporter of her business with multiple positive reviews and referring her clients when she built her practice.

They did everything they could to make sure I was comfortable during the treatment sessions. I just finished my second session of the 3-session package, and the results are looking SO GOOD I think it's also important to note that Brandy Segura is an MD which is SO important when you're investing in your body. Other medical spas are not run by physicians. In discussions with Dr. Segura, she notes that she goes to extensive trainings for a variety of services, and is up to date on the newest medical papers and discoveries to ensure the best treatment results for her clients. Jason Itri (the Founder and Practice Manager) is also an MD PhD! You will definitely receive the best possible care at Studio R Aesthetics, these are all highly educated individuals who will ensure you leave satisfied with the best aesthetic results Additionally, the lobby/waiting area is AMAZING! They have a variety fantastic snacks, high quality drinks stocked in the mini fridge, and a coffee machine. The entire space is extremely cohesive with excellent interior design. Cat (the Client Services Coordinator) is so friendly, upbeat, and bubbly. Everyone I've met here is fantastic Overall Studio R Aesthetics is a phenomenal medical spa and I would highly recommend them for all of your aesthetic needs

I was running a little late due to traffic accident and Mariko was very understanding. The place is very clean, cute and cozy. When I got there, Mariko offered me coffee, tea, or water which was nice. She also did my consultation and made me feel at ease with the whole process since this was my first time. She was honest too and helped me pick the proper treatment for me instead of just trying to get me to spend more. Since I do have dark hair, she explained my outcome will be more successful than someone who has light hair such as blonde or red hair. She also answered all my questions and was easy to talk with. I decided to go through with doing my first treatment and it was a lot better than expected. There's a package deal that includes 5 treatments which I booked. I also got a 10% discount for being a student which was a nice surprise. Mariko was amazing and talked me through each step and I think her techniques were so good which also made it not so painful. She explained both machines to me prior and did a sample test on herself before doing it on me. Most of the spots didn't even hurt, and the laser felt like hot air. The parts that stung it was really quick and she placed an ice pack right over which helped a lot. I did my armpits, brazilian, and lower legs and whole process took about an hour. She was very professional and I'm happy she was my laser tech. She also gave me some aloe in case I had itching afterwards, which I didn't, and sunscreen samples. Highly recommend Mariko and can't wait to have my future treatments with her!

While I am upset about what happened to me, I just want to let others know so they're aware of the risks of seeing these "doctors." I was going to Charlottesville Dermatology for about five months to take the medication Isotretinoin (formerly known as Accutane). The PA (not a dermatologist) that prescribed it to me had a pretty meh personality (Amy Randolph? Rudolph?) and did not answer the questions I had in any sociable way, but I did not really care because I just wanted to get through the medication. I started seeing someone named Ines, and she was better. I always thought their billing/reception staff was pretty rude/incompetent, but again, I viewed this as a temporary relationship, so I didn't change providers. At this point, I probably would have given them 3 stars. For those of you that don't know, Accutane is highly regulated, so female patients must take a pregnancy test monthly per federal law. The doctor's office must then fill the prescription within seven days of that test, or another test is required. That's right, they forgot to fill my prescription, so I had to go back for another pregnancy test and was unable to take my medication for a week. No one apologized. Then I found out through a friend that my medication is unequivocally supposed to be taken with a fat-heavy meal, such as salmon or nuts, to ensure absorption. I immediately verified this online, and according to the Mayo Clinic, it's true. I took an extremely intense and life-altering medication (you have to use two forms of birth control on it and cannot drink more than one drink) only to find out that for five months it likely wasn't properly being absorbed. This could explain why my acne only started to clear up after I started going to UVA's Dermatology group. The kicker is that you can only take so much Accutane in your system, so I now have to go off it. I have no way of knowing how much medication was being absorbed, and I never will. This is medical malpractice, and while I will not pursue legal action, I can only hope that no one else has to.
