The young man at the register named Ian was extremely kind and helpful for an older customer who I later found out is mute. Ian quickly told me that he'd be right back, he helped the man to find what he needed, came back to the register to check him out, and then helped me at the self checkout. I come here every other week to buy my 8 dollar press on nails and holy grail pimple patches and I'm happy to report that neither one has ever been out of stock. All of my hair and skin products have been added here over the years which I really appreciate because it's way more convenient to go here right down the road then have to take a trip to Target or Walmart. I noticed they even started to have some higher end products that you could find in an Ulta or Sephora. The pharmacy is also always very timely and friendly, I can't remember the last time I had to wait for a prescription or something went wrong. This CVS is sub-par at best. It is a high volume store, so I can excuse some of what I witness. Still, I regularly experience sloppiness, incompetence, and poor customer service from staff at this location. Most recently I asked to speak with a pharmacist to better understand how I should administer an injectable drug, and I heard the pharmacist vent to another staff member, "he should read the directions." After overhearing this comment from 20 feet away, I decided to visit another CVS branch with a reputation for better service, and to ask for assistance. This CVS needs a lot of work and some staff training to work effectively with others. read more

CVS has always been my favorite local drugstore. No matter which one no matter what town your in ., Many brands to choose from . Pharmacy is great! There always very helpful if you have questions on meds. I love the sections that are seasonal . They always have great stuff for the kids. Summer months are stocked with all the necessities you'll need for a day at the beach or a picnic at the park. THE MAKEUP AND SKINCARE IS AWESOME! Loaded with the latest creams and serums. Staff is rude, tell you whatever it is you need to hear so they can get you off the phone, they take forever with prescriptions and often things get confused. The cvs is Swansea seems fine. Me and my friend visited CVS to do a little light shopping and we were viewing some skincare options. A very rude employee came up to us and told us we were "blocking the aisle" and he made us leave. We are very disappointed with this customer service; please talk to your employees and make sure they are trained in talking to customers because this man certainly wasn't! read more

The pharmacy has had problems way before covid. They are always inconvenienced that you are there. They are rushed and they rarely have prescriptions ready or completely filled. Everytime I come I start with a fresh attitude and everything, I leave feeling the same way. They need a better system, more inventory and more people behind counter. They should consult with the Rite Aid pharmacy staff. They were amazing. CVS has NEVER gotten it right in Barrington. Even Pre-covid, I have never had a prescription filled on time, and constantly have to go without medication. The staff behaves as if you're a complete nuisance with zero empathy. Clearly have no regard for the fact that people rely heavily on prescription medications for a reason. Rude, incompetent, and definitely not there to help anyone. This may be the worst pharmacy on the planet. The main problem is that they have gobbled up all the other pharmacies in the area, meaning Delekta and Rite-Aid, and once they did that their service quality evaporated. It is impossible to get their pharmacy on the phone -- the pharmacy simply doesn't answer their phone. YET, there are always problems with my prescriptions which makes it necessary for me to talk to them. As I write this, I have two prescriptions ready. But I don't have a car, and I am partially disabled, so I need them to mail the prescriptions to me, but I can't get them on the phone to tell them -- and there is no way to indicate that on their web site. The truth is, I ALREADY TOLD THEM to mail these items, but someone has made a mistake and they are just sitting there waiting for me to pick them up. I asked for the manager and he REFUSED to deliver a message to the pharmacy for me -- REFUSED. I called their main office to talk to an executive, and they put me in the queue to talk to a customer service person, and I sat in the queue for God knows how long. I am now searching for another pharmacy. CVS is simply refusing to give me the most basic service that I require in order to be a customer. One more thing: Everything in the store is 20% to 40% more expensive than you will pay at most other stores. (In order to post this review, I had to delete my prior review. It used to be possible on Yelp to revise reviews no matter how old they were. Yelp needs to go back to the way it was.) read more

Expensive prices for the same products found elsewhere. Never anyone to help you. You can walk around, up and down each aisle. There's never anyone to help you unless you go to the counter and ask for someone else who isn't working a register. Customer service is awful. They got my photo order wrong twice. The envelopes that came with the photo cards were awful and in the heat one day they melted together. Multiple emails and phone calls to get this "fixed" (ie. replaced with the same awful quality). Their photos aren't the best quality. They messed up on my photo cards and the prints I ordered were blown out in color. Walmart is much better and cheaper. I HATE that their "extra bucks" expire. They always seem to be available after I've made a large purchase. Lastly, I received email confirmation that my package (ordered cards online) were delivered to the store and would be available for pickup after 8am. At about 7pm I went to pick them up and the employee couldn't find them. I found them for them still in the box, which they then asked me to come back in an hour so they could log them into the computer. Really? I only go to CVS if I need to or if they're having a sale I can combine with a coupon at this point. I rather spend the extra money to drive to another drugstore than deal with CVS. read more

Religion, politics, doctors and now drugstores....to each their own, I say. Personally, I love CVS. I've been a CVS girl my whole life. I tried RiteAid, hated it. Walgreens was alright. Target is great but when it comes to CVS, there's one on every corner and that makes me very happy. This location has a great makeup section. Fekkai, Essie, Burt's Bees, Lierac, etc. Every time I go in, I find something on sale. As for the pharmacy, it can get busy sometimes but the people who work there are always willing to help. I had an issue with a health insurance mix up and the girl was on the phone with them for 20 minutes sorting it out. She could have just told me to call them myself but instead, she was helpful, pleasant and understanding. read more

If you've got two small kids at home, this CVS is sure to impress. They have a surprisingly large and vast array of supplies for babies, from diapers, creams and washes to an impressive selection of homeopathic cough and cold remedies for little ones too young to take "real" medicine to relieve cold symptoms. The staff is always super helpful, nice, and proactive about asking customers if they need help. Sometimes the pharmacy line gets a little longer than it ought to be (there has been at least one occasion where the line was so long I wondered if I had accidentally gotten into a queue for a pre-Black Friday sale or the next Star Wars movie...), but generally the service is timely. read more

I only go here for the pharmacy because the prices for everything else are so EXPENSIVE. Plus, I'm not a huge fan of the games they play with the extracare bucks. The Barrington CVS pharmacy is ALWAYS busy. 4 out 5 times I go there I have to wait in line at least 15 minutes. We are regular customers, both my daughter and husband take prescriptions daily. A handful of times they have measured out my daughters liquid prescription wrong and then when we call to complain they blame us! Both my husband and I have advanced degrees in science fields, we know how to measure out 5 mL in a syringe! read more

I've been going to this CVS pharmacy since moving to Barrington 4 years ago. Their staff is helpful, kind, take the time to answer questions and listen to my concerns. There is one pharmacist, however, that consistently exceeds my expectations. She is warm, funny, super nice, always smiling, and one time, went through phone call after phone call to resolve an insurance mistake; even when her co-worker did NOT - she stepped in and said she would be happy to help me. The pharmacy is run by incompetent people. I am not sure if the pharmacist(s) or the assistants are the problem, but, over the past year multiple times different prescriptions were handled with errors in dosing and quantity for both kids and adults. It was so frustrating and unbelievable! We will not be going back to this pharmacy. read more
