I have suffered my last indignity at this miserable CVS store. While I understand that CVS and its BS customer service policies are a universal problem caused by a greedy corporate entity, this store manages to leave me enraged every time I enter. The fact that this corporation hires multiple employees to stalk around the store and prod at customers while shopping but refuses to put anyone behind a register is beyond absurd. Even at other backwards CVS locations I have had the experience of asking to be waited on by a human and had the register opened. At this store they will outright REFUSE to do so, leaving you to stand there and do the job of a cashier, being barked at by an automated voice that doesn't like the way you do your bagging, while 5 or so employees stand around and watch. But WHILE you are shopping for personal items, no less than three different employees, some on multiple occasions, will follow you around the store asking if you need help because you have the audacity to spend more than a nanosecond considering which facial moisturizer you might purchase. Leave me in peace, to purchase my feminine hygiene products! This is a solo mission! I am more than capable of performing the task myself, been doing it for years. If you want to help so badly, then get behind a register and do something that mildly resembles the function of a cashier. Today I left three bags of merchandise next to that stupid machine that got stuck in a loop of "assistance is on the way," walked by 4 not so productive employees, and took my business to the equally miserable Rite Aid. NO AMOUNT OF EXTRABUCKS WILL BRING ME BACK TO THIS LOCATION, I DON'T CARE HOW CLOSE IT IS TO MY HOUSE. At least at Rite Aid there is someone behind the register, and the universally apathetic employees leave you to shop in peace. AAARG. read more

Let me start with the positives: The grocery selection is good; they tend to have odds and ends that I want to pick up quickly on the way home without a whole grocery store run. The self-checkout is efficient, and the staff who are nearby to deal with issues are warm and helpful. The pharmacy is the best and worst part of this CVS. The pharmacists are really helpful. They've been kind, compassionate, and patient when I've had questions for them. On one occasion, they figured out some alternatives that would work better with my insurance and helped me get a discount on one medication. People tend to be impatient and frustrated with them, but they keep right on being helpful. When it's my turn, they give me their full attention. Their warmth is especially appreciated when you're there because you're sick and need medicine! HOWEVER, the reason people are impatient and frustrated is that the lines are absurdly long and slow-moving. It can take this CVS hours to start processing a prescription sent online by a doctor. The anticipated "ready" times on the CVS app are often hours - or a whole day - off. Once you're there, the wait times can be up to an hour, which is not particularly pleasant if you have something like the flu - and not particularly good for the people waiting alongside you! The pharmacists always seem to be working busily and productively, but they just seem to be chronically understaffed. read more

First off: NOT 24 HOURS. The store is classy looking and has a surprisingly good grocery selection but it is way, way understaffed and the self-checkout stations are a nightmare. Three times I've gone in to find NO registers open and everyone condemned to use the self checkout service. The machines require the constant attention of a clerk, and the people on the neighborhood have trouble using the things even if they are working properly. This place is a disaster waiting to happen. My first evening in a soda shelf fell over and spilled soda everywhere. I stood there and shouted for store assistance and no one came. I shouted. Seriously? Whatever cheap ass owns this place needs to knuckle under and keep at least two people behind the counter. Tonight I threw my purchases down and went to the Rite Aid after trying to give someone money for almost fifteen minutes. Seriously store owner, don't screw this place up. Follow up: I was sold spoiled food by this store. I mean, things that were supposed to be frozen but had been allowed to spoil and completely rot. Then they were refrozen. Multiple items, not just one. I went back to the store and casually mentioned it and was treated like a liar. The manager, a kid, was all but directly insulting. This pharmacy, which serves a largely elderly population, is disorganized,never picks up phone and basically does not know what they are doing. Corporate CVS needs to be notified and needs to send in a coach to reorganize them. I am caring for a sick spouse and dealing with the incompetence here makes it much harder. read more

Update: This CVS is now 24 hours! It has been so since mid-2010, I just forgot to update here. As another reviewer mentioned, the pharmacy isn't 24 hours. They've been renovating recently and are putting in a lot more refrigerators for prepared food, milk, ice cream, things like that. They still have problems with their lines, especially on weekends. The cashiers at the front aren't fast enough. Hopefully this will improve as their inventory expands. read more

Came in this evening to pick up a photo book I ordered specifically for a Valentine's Day gift, after it said that it was ready online. When I arrived, I picked up a few things I needed, waited on an extremely long line, then requested my photo book. I was told the printer was down, but I could wait a few minutes to see if they could get it to work. After standing around for an extra 10 mins, I was shown the photos which turned out terribly. I was offered an even further wait, and then I asked if I can just pick it up tomorrow. His response was well there's no guarantee the printer will be working. Ok, well then why was I told my order was completed in the first place? Then treated like it was my problem? I said just forget it, cancel the order. Bottom line, if you enjoy wasting your time, & like being disappointed, be sure to stop by this CVS. read more

This review is regarding a CVS staff member named Aaron. I was shopping at your location on 235th street in Riverdale when I noticed how this young man dealt with an overly aggressive and nasty customer. Instead of becoming angry and arguing with her he spoke gently to her and attempted to help. When she continued to be nasty he had his manager speak with her. I hope this young man's professionalism is recognized and he is rewarded accordingly. I have been a CVS customer for over 20 years and haven't seen such professionalism. Slowest pharmacy I have ever seen. Call ahead to have prescriptions and they still don't have them all. Rude counter people and pharmacist. Some individuals at checkout try to be helpful despite the chaos. It seems they replaced the manager and it is getting a little better. read more

First off, I've been going here off and on for years. I didn't go for a while since I was going to a more local pharmacy. I have now moved much closer to CVS and find myself using it all the time. I don't quite get why everyone is complaining about "creepy" sales help when it is their job to be helpful. Lighten up folks. Honestly, I never got the feeling that anyone was "stalking" me. That's also really nasty and judgemental to call someone an Amazon. What's the issue? I have found that the staff have all been polite and helpful to me. Always. I do, however, get the feeling that a few employees are "first timers" and fairly young, but I find this problem A LOT more at the local TARGET. It's true that they are not always stocked well. Things are sometimes missing, especially if they are on sale. Sales are somewhat confusing in the setup and labeling. This can be extremely frustrating at times and a waste of time to deal with, but I've always found that the staff will fix the pricing at the register, be it the checkout person or the self serve registers. I really am not a huge fan of the self serve registers, but for the most part, I got used to it - seeing as many more places have started to use this method. However I do think that having a second person work the checkout line more often would be a good idea. Admittedly, the place does have a feel of being disorganized.The front desk for the managers and photo/tech people is annoyingly often empty and you have to hunt the manager down and wait a lot. I do hate doing this. The photo people also aren't very knowledgeable. I don't use this service at all anyway, so I don't run into it. This is also the only place I know of that takes passport photos. Very useful. I haven't run into problems with the bathroom. Most places don't even have a bathroom for customers. The pharmacy does often have a line, mostly during after work hours. For the most part I don't run into this traffic, but I guess I go at low traffic periods.The neighborhood has only 2 major pharmacies and a mom and pop pharmacy in the extremely large neighbohood of approximately 14,000 living in the surrounding large buildings covering both sides of the highway and maybe 15-20 or so blocks up and downtown. What do you expect? They have a lot of people working in the pharmacy and they are fairly efficient considering, even if overwhelmed. If I have a problem, nobody has EVER been anything but polite to me and as helpful as possible. I guess it pays for a customer to be civil and polite as well. Nobody likes to be yelled at. One EXTREMELY helpful upside is that the pharmacy is actually open until 9:00 which is not the case in other pharmacies in the neighborhood. Also, the free parking in the back is really useful, especially since parking is really tight in the neighborhood with munimeters and very vigilant traffic cops. I also love that they have food staples which is AMAZING when you need something but don't have the time or inclination to walk the extra blocks to Key Food, especially in the cold. But I guess that's just lazy of me. All in all it covers a nice range of things you may need including office supplies, kids arts and crafts, toys, seasonal stuff, house stuff like detergent and cleaners type stuff, cords etc. Great place to get last minute stuff. read more

Recently, the pharmacy told me they were ordering my medication, and when I went in, they told me that they didn't even have the ability to order the medication. I would give this CVS negative stars if that was an option. The worst customer service, violating HIPAA, and overall disorganized, disgusting, horrible establishment. I will be complaining on social media and to corporate. I tried calling for a week straight, put on hold for 45+ minutes each time. I finally got in contact with someone at the Pharmacy and asked why my prescription is still "in progress", she said "we're backed up a few days" so I said "you mean ten days". They've given me the wrong prescription for two years straight, and even made note of it in my chart to not switch to the generic brand. They also ran out of my prescription more times than I can count. I go to other CVS locations with no issues. They also shout your name, birthday, and prescription on the phone so everyone can hear while they wait which is illegal. Half of the machines are usually out of service or experience technical difficulties that require additional manual override from staff, which hold up the line indefinitely. The worst customer service I've ever experienced! I had an issue with the expiration date on a prescription and the pharmacy manager, Crystal Cruz was not helpful at all; in addition to her rude unapologetic attitude. I'm not sure who trained her in customer service but she is an epic fail. She didn't understand that diffusing a situation is a true measure of positive customer relations. The best thing about this place is the coupons they send you via email or regular mail. I never really had a problem with this place until they hired the tall amazonian woman in the beauty department who seems helpful but is actually really annoying. She will follow customers through out the store repeatedly asking if they are "finding everything ok". Amazonian chick will know exactly what it was you were shopping for the last time you were there. Creepy. No, I do not need your help finding super absorbent tampons. Today was the finally straw!! I have had several problems with the pharmacy in the past. No one ever picks up the phone . I hold on for 30 -45 minutes at a time. Today was no different , when I complained in person they say they don't have enough staff, BTW I counted at least 7 people behind the counter. This excuse has been ongoing for close to a year. I have transferred my prescriptions to Rite Aid on Knoll Crescent, where you can actually speak to a someone in the pharmacy. read more

Always running low. Ran out of milk and didn't restock it. They don't have an area for bug killers and the lines are always long. This CVS Pharmacy is so full of shit and totally not about customers service. I had been calling all day yesterday since my doctor submitted a prescription for me at 11:30am and it has not been processed. I was left on hold for over an hour. Then I tried to get a hold of someone in the front end after being on hold for another 30 minutes they hung up on me. I'm sick in tired of this CVS Pharmacy unprofessionalism it's always the same excuse we are short on staff. This has been happening before COVID-19 and they have been using COVID-19 as the excuse. It's not COVID-19 this is just how the staff is and the management team could care less. I have spoken to the manager and nothing has or well change with this CVS Pharmacy. It's really sad that its come to this I really do hope this CVS is part of the ones that they are going to close. Starting January I'm going to start have all my prescription sent to the CVS that is by my job on 14th and 5th. That CVS I must say what a difference staff wise and management team. Shopping in this store becomes more and more annoying by the day. Self checkout apparently has a known problem that nobody will fix requiring every customer to receive assistance from the never present employee. You can spend 5 minutes waiting for an employee to fix the problem all while they grumble about how this happens all the time. I hate this pharmacy! But this is a 24 hour CVS, so I can't be too harsh. Don't get me wrong, the store itself is pretty clean, the coolers have a wide variety of drinks, and I found everything I needed very easily, but never use the pharmacy. Get your drugs somewhere else people! For prescriptions the lines are ridiculous, things are never ready when they say they will be, and when you show up expecting them to have it they'll ask you to wait 10 minutes when they really mean 40. I can't tell you how many people showed up during my 40 minutes in purgatory, and decided to just go home and come back the next day instead of deal with this pharmacy. Maybe they get backed up with all the seniors in the area, but justifiable or not I'm going somewhere else. read more

In the off chance they pick up their goal seems to be "give the customer as much misinformation as possible then hang up". This place is the worst. Literally ANY other CVS is better. read more

If you have any choice about pharmacies, RUN anywhere else. This store has a few perfectly nice, helpful associates. The female pharmacist is helpful. But the young man is both disorganized and incompetent. I have never, ever been able to pick up a few prescriptions at a time without having them get one or more incorrect. Or they simply decide to fill two out of three, or three out of five, so you can stand and wait for an extra half hour (if you are lucky) or longer as they fill the ones they forgot. Or couldn't find the scrip for. So many excuses, too. Their notification via text is random, so you have to call in advance. Plus, there is no one training these hapless young people at customer service. It is shocking how badly run this place is -- -especially given that the front of the store is decent. Not great. But totally decent. Go to Rite Aid if you can. read more

This location usually closes at midnight compared to the other drug stores nearby which is convenient. Unfortunately, whenever I'm looking for something, the shelves are running low or not stocked at all. The self checkout is great, easy, and fast, unless you try to use coupons or have something that requires an ID check. Whenever I've tried to buy milk from this location, it spoils the next day. Some pharmacy employees are a bit rude to customers. They don't try to help you or offer assistance when you have questions about medications or if your having trouble with your insurance card. The rest of the employees always seem busy yet the shelves have nothing on them and the self checkout lines are long as hell. read more

This week, I had a horrible experience with CVS' pharmacy staff. During my first attempt to fill a prescription cough medicine to suppress my horrible cough brought on by Bronchitis, I was quickly turned away. A mid 20s Indian/American guy with glasses simply said we don't carry this and it is not part of our Cardinal. Before I had a chance to comment further, he went to fill my Zpak prescription and disappeared. On my next visit after trying several other pharmacies in the area, I ran into a short, horned rimmed White brunette girl who was equally rude and close to abrasive. If I didn't push her to call my doctor and clearly express my displeasure with CVS, she would have simply dismissed me as well. Ultimately, I ended up at Walgreens on 231st and Broadway, where I was able to fill this difficult prescription. In the future, I will make a conscious effort to curtail my shopping at this CVS location on 235th and Johnson Avenue. read more

I gave a one star only because you can't give zero stars! The CVS pharmacy at 565 W 235th St Bronx, NY 10463 is one of the worst run I've ever experienced! They are very understaffed, the pharmacist ,Godwin, has very poor customer service skills, and was just very rude. I was told that he was the weekend pharmacist, but that really isn't a good excuse. The on hold wait time on several phone calls ranged from 18 minutes to 24 minutes. The in-store waits after receiving a text confirmation that my prescription was ready were from 25 minutes all the way up to 1 hour & 20 minutes. I wasn't the only customer who was experiencing this kind of service. There were up to 10 people deep waiting to get medications on their second and third visit as well. In the end, I wasn't able to get my medication. I was told that they actually didn't have it, even though they had sent me 2 text alerts & on one of my long phone calls, was told that my prescription was filled. I have reported this to the CVS Corporate Office that oversees all pharmacy operations. Unfortunately they are unable to resolve the supply issue at this time, but will review the customer service and staffing issues. End result, find another pharmacy. read more

The last two times I went to this pharmacy I ended up just turning around and walking out. One person handling both the submitting of the subscriptions and the picking up/paying for the subscriptions is ridiculous (moving back and forth between the two counters). I called yesterday to check if my subscription was ready and hung up after 20 minutes of just listening to music. Figured calling at 8AM this morning I'd have better luck but just hung up after waiting another 20 minutes. read more

I have been meaning to write a review about this CVS for months, but as is so often the case when you want to praise, and not critique, it fell by the wayside. Now that I'm finally getting around to it, I have to say that, in the past 11 months that I have used them, I have experienced nothing but the HIGHEST quality of service. And the pharmacy staff is extra-amazing. There is one pharmacist who goes to great lengths to work out kinks with your insurance, and all the pharmacy staff are incredibly courteous and professional. The only downside is that everyone goes to the pharmacy after work on weekdays, so there will often be a line. But that happens during any "rush hour" for service, so I do not hold that against them. read more

If I could give 0 stars for this CVS Pharmacy, I would. Why are there 6 people behind the pharmacy counter and 20 people waiting in line? Do they not know how to multitask accordingly? I understand they are understaffed, but with the staff they have they should be able to work out a proper customer service system. This place is what I picture Limbo to be, that never ending nothingness when you're on your way to hell. I get to the counter- which keep in mind takes a minimum of 20 minutes, to a maximum of "I don't have time for this"(because we all do have lives and dont want to spend 3 hours of the day in a pharmacy line watching the people behind the counter look like chickens with their heads cut off),they say "it's not ready yet". If I had a dime for every time I heard this pharmacy say that line! It took this place 4 days to fill a prescription that should've been available that same day. and of course, when it was finally ready on the fourth day, I had to wait that minimum 20 minutes for it. Once you're lucky enough to finally pick up your prescription, you're served with a nasty attitude from the clerks because they're incompetent minds obviously don't know how to do their jobs pertaining to looking up insurances and identifications. Management needs to be fixed and staff. I cant imagine what the elderly people or the disabled people that I see waiting on this treacherous line for 20+ minutes, then getting back talked because of something the clerk doesn't understand, then being sent home empty handed. Or what about people like myself, who need that prescription within 24 hours? Because its my stagnant medication? Being a pharmacy you would think they would understand the medical reasons that people need their prescriptions within a reasonable time frame from when the doctor had called them in. not 4 days later. Shame on CVS management for allowing a pharmacy to be so understaffed. During busy times the line can be 15 people long, children crying and disabled people having difficulty standing for twenty minutes or more. CVS should be embarrassed the way they are treating their clients, management needs to just make simple changes, starting with hiring more pharmacy technicians and pharmacists. Recently I made the terrible mistake of designating this CVS pharmacy at 235 Street in the Bronx as, my pharmacy. My first negative experience was a few months ago, when after picking up my prescription, they continued to call me every day for at least a week, to tell me my prescription was ready! A couple of weeks ago, I stopped there to pick up another prescription. The parking lot was totally full, with numerous cars waiting to get in. I drove around several times, and returned, only to find the situation just as bad. I desperately needed the medication, and finally managed to squeeze into a parking space and was able to get it. The most horrible and unacceptable incident, happened today. I underwent a medical procedure yesterday and am recuperating at a relative's house upstate. My doctor instructed CVS to transfer my two prescribed medications to a pharmacy upstate. They managed to transfer one, but not the other, which was strange. I called CVS this morning,regarding the situation. I was told to have the upstate pharmacy call them to request the medication. They did so, but CVS would still not release the medication! I called CVS this afternoon. The man I spoke to said he remembered me from this morning. Unfortunately, he did not remember to transfer the medication. My sister then got on the phone with him, and the medication was finally released, just before the upstate pharmacy closed. Due to the incompetence at this CVS, I came close to being deprived of needed medication. When I get back to the Bronx, I will certainly selecting another pharmacy. read more
