I go to CVS on Forest ave for the most part because my prescriptions are mostly free. Lately the staff has improved. I think they might have had a shakeup. The current employees are generally friendly. Theres one young lady I dislike. When I used to arrive at the counter she just stared at me without saying a word of greeting. She hasn't worked the front counter for a while. The pharmacist must be overworked because he's one of the most unfriendly people I've ever engaged with. Ted the head pharmacist is one of the most disrespectful health care representatives I've ever talked to. Doesn't care if people get the medicine or care that they need. Talked to me like I was an idiot when the pharmacy didn't post they'd be closing early. Super demeaning and condescending. I am appalled by his behavior and would advise anyone who uses cvs pharmacy to go anywhere else but this one. One of the worst pharmacy I've ever been to. We are mid transaction as I'm checking out, I'm pulling up my insurance information, the employee tells me that they are now "closed" for their lunch break. It was 1331. So I wasn't able to get my prescription. No apology no nothing. The employee had already rung up my other items, it was unprofessional and flat out rude. Why did you start checking me out if you knew you were closing? When I called on the phone to transfer my prescription, the pharmacist assumed my insurance was Medicare, he said "or is it the one you pay for?" Excuse me? I know what private pay insurance is. Just because I have a non-English name does not mean I have state funded insurance. I shouldn't have to be racially profiled while picking up my prescriptions. read more

Worst customer service in Pharmacy. Unhelpful, VERY slow, flat affect like they are burned out and don't care. Over 30 minutes on hold--TWICE. no one ever picks up. So sad these people are a part of Chico healthcare system. Nurse practitioner Anthonia Okeani WOULD NOT help us since she wasn't getting paid by them today, she was working for one of her other three jobs. REALLY? You're supposed to help tires patients, not just collect a paycheck because you're on the discharge paperwork (for a simple covid test). Bet you're making YOUR parents proud. read more

This CVS Pharmacy on Forest is a nightmare. Apparently the pharmacy manager quit as well as several other employees. They no longer text when your medications are ready. They've stopped answering the phone so you can't speak to anyone. The automated phone service says your medications are ready when they're not. You have to go in person to request your refill and it is never ever ready on time. Pharmacy techs admit there is a 2 week backlog. The drive-thru has been closed for weeks. As far as Covid-19 precautions, there are none. Today the pharmacist (or tech?) had her mask under her nose the entire 30 minutes I waited in line. read more

I feel badly for the employees here. They seem to always be understaffed, esp in Pharmacy. Store now forces self checkout 90% of the time which just annoys me in all stores. It takes longer for them to talk through the process then to just do it, esp for elderly. Staff is doing their best but management cutting too many corners on staff. read more

The management refuses to enforce mask mandate. Walking around a pharmacy with sick people coughing all over is dangerous. The new cash register set up is confusing. I feel sorry for the employees. I heard one employee getting yelled at because they didn't enforce masks and another one because the customer was mad they had to check out their own items. This CVS is infuriating! They do not know up from down. I've had the same prescription for over a year and every month literally every time I need to go in for a refill it's a huge problem. They act like I'm brand new and I have to wait hours or make multiple attempts of picking up my medication. Finally this time was the last time I could go without at least trying to save someone the hassle. So opened my Yelp that hasn't been opened in over 8-9 years and wrote this. This pharmacy is absolutely the worst. There are 3 in Chico. Forest is the worst.There has been high turnover and it is severely understaffed. They run out of inventory regularly. But, this has been going on since at least 2018 when I moved to Chico. In order to get your prescription filled you have to make 2-3 trips to the pharmacy because they don't prioritize what you order on the app and you cannot get correct information on the automated call line. My time is important. I'm done with being treated rudely and being lied to and waiting in long lines. So, I'm done. I gave them the benefit of doubt due to pandemic. I've been coming to this pharmacy for almost 5 years in total and it's always been a pretty great one. There wasn't typically too much of a wait, and they've always have a good customer service, sometimes great. Staff changes over the months and years, but they've been consistent. The *store itself* has has very a nice staff and efficient management. I only had one not-so-great experience with a assistant manager about a carpet cleaning rental, although I noticed she only lasted a short while. After the Camp Fire on 11/08/18, thousands of people were displaced and 9 months later, many survivors are still living in trailers near the courthouse. That being said, MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT IS THE PHARMACY STAFF CUSTOMER SERVICE. At first the wait after the fire was ridiculously long and of course one expects such a thing. Not one person I know in Chico would ever complain about wait times due to such a horrendous disaster. The wait time became increasingly better, and it's been 9 months now and the wait times are only a little longer than what they were pre-fire. Again, no complaints about there. In fact, it's pretty impressive if there has been an increase in customers but not only a little increase in wait times. It's been since the fire (9 months) that the customer service has gone downhill. I've been told by the staff themselves that the pharmacy has NEW STAFF since the fire, and some of the staff are from Paradise. I've been holding off from writing a negative review, but now that I am no longer going to that pharmacy due to the staff themselves, I decided to speak up about it. The pharmacist refused to give out the the number for me to reach someone at corporate locally (he basically said to just call the 800 number for CVS and believe me that falls on DEAF EARS), so I decided to "go public" as I'm vocal and feel like I really have to warn people about potentially negative experiences. The last time I checked, pharmacy technicians need to have customer service skills. There are one or two really great ones I feel I should add, but they don't make up for the really bad ones. read more

Ok, I don't usually do this. But I needed to use the restroom when I was here, and it was beyond disgusting. Never in my life have I experienced customer service so very poor from a pharmacy. I spent 45 minutes on the phone waiting to find the status of my prescription which had been called in by my doctor 4 days previously. Finally, I drove to the store while still on hold to complain, but I nothing but extremely rude service from all at the store. I was honestly frightened that the pharmacist was going to punch me when he came out from behind the counter to face off with me and then chase me out of the store. read more

The pharmacy needs some help! Drive-thru was closed (it was been for a few days now), so I proceeded to park and walk inside. I then found myself and 8 other people waiting in line while one pharmacy tech (or whatever they're called) assisted the long line one by one. I waited for about 35 minutes. Pretty ridiculous given it took me less than 1 minute to say my name, DOB, pay and leave. Consultation? Please step to the side and wait for the pharmacist. NEXT! One can only dream it would work that way... There should be no reason for them to have such a long line in the first place. If you have a difficult customer, you call a manager and then continue assist the non difficult customers. One thing I like about this location: parking lot is nice. read more

*PLEASE READ* This review is specifically about the pharmacy portion of the store and their COVID-19 test practices. I got a COVID test at this CVS on Wednesday, 03/31 at 11 AM. The test was self-administered with a pharmacy tech guiding you through the process. At the end, you're given a packet on the next steps and you go on your way. The test was very quick and easy. When I got home I looked at the forms which instructed me on how to make an account on their portal so I could see my results. The forms said it would take 1-2 days to get my results. The portal said the current lab turnaround time was 1-2 days. I had heard from other CVSs that the lab took about 1-2 days. This was great because I needed my results by Friday evening so I could go home for my family's Easter celebration. It is now Sunday, 04/04 and I don't have my results back. If this was the only issue, I might still give this CVS 2-3 stars, except that when I called the pharmacy to inquire about my results, no one answered. On Friday I called them at 5:30 PM and the automated voice "transferred" me to the pharmacy where I sat on hold until around 6:30 when I finally hung up. Before hanging up I looked up the pharmacy's hours because I was curious about how much longer they'd be open. To my surprise, the pharmacy closed at 6. I would have been waiting to transfer indefinitely had I not hung up. I didn't talk to a sing person. The automated voice didn't tell me the pharmacy hours. No one gave me any indication that the pharmacy had closed while I sat on hold. I called them back twice on Saturday and got no answer. I called another CVS in Chico in hopes that they could help me and they said that only the Forest Ave CVS could access my results. When I mentioned the phone thing, the CVS employee's response was, "yeah that location does that sometimes." Ridiculous. I didn't make it to my family's Easter celebration. If I had known going into this test that I would have to wait a minimum of 5 days for my results, I would have found somewhere else to get tested. The fact that they couldn't answer the phone infuriates me. This is a pharmacy! People rely on them for medications that keep themselves alive. It seems to me that answering the phone is important. Don't come here. There are better CVSs in Chico. read more

The people are nice but getting a prescription filled is an exercise in frustration. You will get a message telling you your Rx is ready. When you drive over to pick it up they don't have it. Your doctor will call in a prescription and tell you to pick it up that afternoon. 24 hours later it is still not ready. A prescription on automatic refill doesn't get filled until you are down to just two days pills left. You call and the recorded message says they don't have it but if you go there they say they do. They tell you they have it but then they can't find it. They seem to have a LOT of turnover, which makes me wonder if their employees are just as frustrated as their customers. read more

The pharmacy is woefully understaffed. Not complaining about their effort, but the company unable to either meet or sustain the volume. One staff member at checkout, completely alone and unable to handle any volume of customers as a lone soldier. Pharmacy will say it's busy and come back in 3 hours...fine, no problem. Come back in 3 hours and told the same. Moving all my prescriptions to Costco as it's much cheaper and seems they actually try to maintain staff to accommodate demand. read more

David who works there as he did in the Paradise CVS BEFORE THE FIRE, used to greet my son and me and talked with us a lot and NOW HE ACTS LIKE GE DOESN'T KNOW US ?????? Actually kind of a SNOB. I had to switch pharmacies recently and CVS on Forrest came highly recommended by the Manager, Ross. I am so glad I switched. Every staff member I have interacted with was very friendly, positive and helpful. They really go above and beyond. I am a job coach, so I always pay attention to work environments and energy when in a place of business. This is by far one of the more positive environments I have seen in Chico (besides Dutch Bros hahaha). You can tell they like their jobs and management has trained them well, fostering a great attitude and passion to serve others. This sort of attitude can be contagious and impact an entire community, SO KEEP IT UP! You are all doing it right. read more

I have always enjoyed CVS for some things, they are convenient considering I have one a couple of blocks from me. My only pet pev is tonight I purchased an item that cost 6 dollars and change on check out the cashier was friendly and thanked me and gave me my slip thanked me an said you have about 20 coupons, this happens all the time the slip was 3.5 feet long after I cut off the important part for my records I threw the useless coupons away. I never ever use them There ought to be away to opp out of not getting the coupons rather then waist a whole tree. Now I am sure the coupons are the brain child on some bean counter and are protecting the nesessity of the program. But the reality for me I just throw them away. I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way. Please give us frustrated customers a way to opp out before we go to Wallgreens or something. read more

I had a flu shot appointment, as I am waiting in the line the pharmacist tells the person in front of us that didn't have an appointment no problem, will take about 40 minutes to do... meanwhile the people that actually set up an appointment have to wait for them first, ridiculous. We ended up leaving and going to raleys, it was faster without an appointment there then it is with one at CVS. I recommend going anywhere else besides here, it's always a mess. read more

Normally, I don't like to push negativity out into the universe, and the very act of writing this 3-star review has been a very uncomfortable and out of character experience for me. I hope this review serves as a tool for healing rather than as one for harm, and I apologize in advance for any bruised egos or hurt feelings it may cause. We should all remember to try to love each other and ourselves, and I hope this review does not prevent anyone on either side of the "aisle" (ha, ha) from doing so. If it does, I will remove it immediately. With that being said, the checkout lines at this CVS are extremely slow. First, a little bit about me: I am a 25-year-old male (approximately 5'10", 180 lbs.) who comes to this CVS occasionally, usually in the early-to-late evening, in order to purchase small items like candies, sodas, or nighttime teas. In the interest of full disclosure, I also get certain prescriptions (among them Lexapro, 20mg, for depression and anxiety) filled at this particular CVS location, and each time the pharmacy staff has been nothing less than helpful, courteous, and swift in dispensing my medications. My beef is not with the pharmacy staff, nor has it ever been. Rather, it is with those in charge of keeping the checkout lines moving at an acceptable pace. I have been to the Chico, CA Forest Ave. CVS approximately 10 times since moving to the neighborhood, and on each occasion I have had to wait for what I would charitably describe as an unreasonably long amount of time in the checkout line. For my first few trips to the store, I was willing to give the Chico, CA Forest Ave. CVS the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to the customers in front of me in line simply being "bad eggs" (and, in effect, holding up the line themselves and through no fault of the CVS staff's own), but after visiting the store several more times, I cannot in good conscience continue to do so. The plain and simple truth is that there is some fundamental, structural issue with how the checkout lines at this CVS are run. Not to brag, but I have been to many CVS pharmacies throughout my life, and this seems to be a problem unique to the Chico, CA Forest Ave. location. It is not my place to try to diagnose the problem's cause (nor would I dream of trying to do so): all I can offer is my own experience. Nice people work there. The pharmacy is way overwhelmed. The lines to pickup medication are horrendous, and when I get up to the counter, I expect it not to be ready and am prepared to wait an hour or more. This has occurred numerous times. The employees at the pharmacy are very nice but are limited in what they can do. People with disabilities are standing in line for great lengths of time with no place to sit down then find out when they finally get to the counter that their medication is not in stock. Please do something for the customers and for the overwhelmed employees. Today many people were meandering around the store waiting for their names to be called so they can pick up their medication. I know CVS can do better than this. read more

I have experienced several pharmacists at CVS, Forest Ave. in Chico. Frank, referred to in some older reviews, was as horrid as stated, and thankfully has been gone for ages. I asked for, and received, the corporate telephone number twice to complain about him. I am 71 years young and have never had anyone be as unprofessional as Frank was. It was a blessing when he was gone! Jocelyn has been there for quite awhile now, arriving sometime after Frank's departure. She is positive, professional, kind, a problem solver and advocate for customers. My medicines are now easily obtained in fewer trips, which is an asset because I live in Durham, so it's not a quick trip. I have called corporate since her arrival to offer compliments regarding her assistance and professionalism. I am happy to say that I am thrilled to have her help at CVS. read more

Wonderful finds, Korean sheet masks, Bliss spa products, Brooklyn Shea hair care line to French high end hair line Kerastase. Their chocolate collection is dangerous! Coconut water to sewing needs to silicone ear plugs. Just like popping into a Cvs in San Francisco:) Little bit of everything really. Nicely curated products. They don't deserve even 1 Star. They are horrible there. First of all what pharmacy puts an insulin pen in a zip lock baggy? That is unprofessional. How am I know it hasn't been tampered with? when they normally come in a four pack in a sealed up box. When I refused the one in the baggy and tried to give it back the pharmacist wouldn't take it. For the same reason I didn't want it, it could of been tampered with. So when I couldn't give it back, I dropped it. And drive off. Then I receive a call saying I can't get my prescriptions refilled there anymore for my display at the drive thru. She accused me of throwing it. And I didn't I dropped it. And told her go back and watch the footage. I talked to the manager twice didn't get no where. He acted like he didn't care. So I called people above all their heads. And that person wasn't happy to hear they treated a customer that way, it's discrimination. read more
