I can make a sandwich any day of the week, but they will Never come out like hers. EVER. Ask yourself this. Would you prefer to receive a professional massage or haircut with a scalp rub at the end, or, would you get better results by doing it yourself? Lets cut to the chase. It's Gigantic. Best, nicest, most informed pharmacists in Chico. Unfortunately, I have to take some pretty heavy meds for my conditions, but they always take the time to explain and answer my endless questions. It's also pretty convenient to be able to grab a couple groceries while I wait or even grab a latte at the in-store Peet's. Everyone at the pharmacy is great but I give special props to Fred because he always has those extra two minutes to really inform me of what I'm taking and what to expect as far as side effects. I started going to this store in 2002. The tellers used to know be by name, and I used to like shopping here. They never had long lines, either. Can't remember when it was, but in the last couple of years, all of the old employees are gone, and the ones that remain are extremely hostile. Not only that, but the lines are alot longer. Walked up to the deli counter on Saturday, August 31, at 2:00 P.M. There were no other customers at the deli. The guy behind the counter was finishing making two sandwiches -- maybe for a call-in order. He never looked up at me or spoke to me. Three other employees were standing behind the deli counters talking with each other. They were obviously aware of my presence but never asked if I needed anything. I waited for four silent minutes by myself with no other customers. I then left and went to Subway, where the employee and I started talking about college football. This is, by far, my favorite grocery store in Chico. I always find all of the healthy products I love and at great prices too. On the whole, staff is very friendly and accommodating. The baggers specifically are always nice to talk to. I absolutely love the 10% discount for students with ID using Something Extra. The produce is always fresh and delicious, they also have a great selection of vegan and plant-based products. This Raley's is 5* across the board. The produce and the quality of meat is always excellent. In the Summer the cantaloupe and grapes are the BEST! The prices are reasonable and the weekly specials are great. The staff has always been not just polite and helpful but are very friendly. I've called the store a couple times about ordering cakes etc. and they're just as nice on the phone which some stores aren't. read more

I have never given (so far) a review on Yelp, but created a profile just to review this store! I went to the store this evening to purchase some groceries and some cough syrup as I am terribly sick. As I was checking out, I was asked for my ID. I don't carry a wallet or purse at work but always keep my debit card in my pocket. I told her I did not have it on me and she told me she couldn't sell me the cough syrup. I asked her how old I needed to be to purchase the cough syrup and she stated "I don't know 16 or 18 maybe?" I am a 27 year old, wearing scrubs since I just got off of work. Most places would have just over ridden the ID system, as I am sure they would not be a 75-year-old woman, but this lady stuck to her guns. She told me I could come back with my ID and purchase the cough syrup. No thanks. I totally get wanting to protect our youth from alcohol cigarettes, and even cough syrup but it is absolutely ridiculous that somebody who is almost 30 can't purchase cough syrup without having an ID. I guess I'll never go to Raleys again without lugging in my purse. read more

Why did you guys allow a leashed dog without a service vest on...? Just a regular customer grocery shopping with her pet. How come you allowed it? I'm for service animals but, not when other people think it's okay too do so. I live in Arizona and visit my parents and where I live this isn't not an issue in our community. Since the last time I was out here this is becoming a huge issue letting your everyday pet in a grocery store. So for the past few years I've come to Raleys at 6am to get balloons for my wife and sons birthdays (all in October) some times in the pouring down rain, but I still do. Why? Because I enjoy seeing the look on their faces when they wake up to balloons and all the other stuff I get them (I guess it's all the things I lacked as a child lol) anyhow the reason I write this, is, because this year I came in here at 6am as always and they had to get the book keeper (a young lady, i didnt get her name) to come out and help me because no one else in the store knew how to operate this area. But I noticed when she came out she seemed to be very disturbed (on the annoyed side that she got asked to do this task) and I didn't mean to bring this on her nor did I call her, so anyhow I've never experienced this kind of feed back from any of the employees here nor did I like the way this felt, so I decided to try and avoid this situation and get my second son's birthday balloons the night before, what a mistake it was, because now I sit here at 6:37am and write this review. All because of one bad apple (the book keeper) I now have to present my 7yr old son with deflated balloons so if the book keeper ever reads this, just know your sour attitude definitely causes a domino affect and because of your sour approach a few weeks ago, it's affect is still damaging today. Foot note: the book keeper should take some training from the young lady named Emily that helped me last night, she had a very positive attitude, seemed to be a hard worker and probably has a bright future. Yeah my balloons didn't make it through the night, but it's people like her that will bring me back. read more

They're not my favorite Rayley's and I like the overall company just this one less...yeah I'm one of those guys...have to not use grammar like ultimatums, saying hate stuff...but in my experience over the year and as a pretty long vetbof Chico since '98, graduate...They are more upbeat but it feels like they don't know a direction. I think it's the franchise owner but I have no idea. It's just a personal opinion at most. I'm not perfect but...thoughtfully, I am just not going to return there. I've never felt an urge to review a grocery store, but this was a truly wonderful experience. The checker that caught my attention was Dennis M. Dennis was out from behind the counter assisting customers with questions and meal planning. When I was ready to check out, he jumped on a terminal and began ringing me out. Raley's is now down a star from my last review.I'm sure that Raley's knows that Aldi is planning on some 600 new stores in the next 5 years, making it the 3rd largest in the US. You would think that Raley's would be strengthening their core, service. I go there for service only. If it weren't for the service, Raley's would be just any store. Trader Joe's (part of Aldi) knows service and I'm sure you won't be finding any self checkout lanes there. When I finish shopping at Raley's and want to checkout, too often I find the cash registers unmanned and I have to find someone to abandon the self checkout and come wait on me. That's not service. 7.12/17 There goes another star. I had another poor experience while trying to get checked out. I do not want to use the self-checkout! I ended up with my groceries sitting there after being paid for. My bag was there, what was missing was the person that puts the groceries in the bag and then into the cart. Oh, they did come back after it was obvious that we weren't going to bag them ourselves. There was one person (1`) to take care of all of the checkout stations plus the self checkout. A few days later we checked out the other Raley's and found the same situation. Really, if I wanted to be treated poorly and bag my own groceries I can always go to Winco and save money. Or I can go to Trader Joe's and be treated very well and still save money... read more

Ordered a birthday cake for my 9 daughter. I ordered from Raley's because I was recommended by friends. We wanted a fresh strawberry filling. What a huge disappointment. Cake was not ready when promised. No decoration, just edging and happy birthday as of the strawberry filling on 1/4 sheet cake...I doubt there was even a single sliced strawberry Fully disappointed in the entire cake. Asked for whipped cream frosting..it wasn't and it tasted bad, very little strawberry and not ready on time. A huge fail for this Raley's. Zero stars if that was possible. read more

I shop here often because it is the closest supermarket to my home. I mostly purchase organic produce here, and get most other staples at Trader Joe's (even though they are jerks there), because of the price difference. Raley's produce is good. They do get some things grown closer by, but they are not a substitute for a farmers market. My schedule doesn't work for me to get to a farmers market anymore, so I'm happy that Raley's has a good selection. I also like the reward system that they added. And they have an app now, so I can just load my coupons right onto my rewards account from my phone. The app is cool too, because it lets me see what is on sale each week. I guess that is smart marketing because I end up buying more things there if they have a good sale price. The app can also be used to order an ecart, and then someone else does the shopping and you just have to drive up to the side door to pick up your order. But I wouldn't do that. I don't even use the self checkout. I hate those self checkout things. It is bad enough that since the bag tax came along some places (mentioned above) don't even pretend like they should put the groceries in those stupid reusable bags that we all had to buy, and remember to bring to the store. I'm not going to do self checkout AND bag my own groceries, all while paying the same amount of money. Raley's does a good job of bagging now, but there was a little time during the transition to the bag tax where even they were trying to not bag my groceries. At Trader Joe's I just look at the groceries pile up until someone comes along to bag them. In bags that I have to bring to the store. I guess I got a little off topic there. The liquor used to be way less expensive, like half as much. Rite Aid is cheaper and right across the street. They sometimes have a good beer sale though, with buy three six packs and get one for a penny, or something like that. Raley's has mostly great service. Some people have worked there for at least as many years as I have been going there(15), and some of those folks are just super awesome. read more

Used to love this Raley's. The staff was helpful and the store was clean and organized. Ah, the good old days. Now, some corporate hotshot has decided to remodel the entire store. This has been going on for several weeks. I shop there weekly and each week store items have been moved to a new location. So, now its up and down each isle looking for items...my shopping time has doubled. But that's not the rub. Management has decided not to restock many items (less stuff to move over and over again, I surmise). So, after searching for an item, you find its not there. I pity the staff who must follow customers around the store helping them find items. Not everyone is as "easy going" about the experience as I have been. But it's getting old... read more

The quality of the organic fruit and vegetables at this Raley's is phenomenal. they advertise "pro local" for all of their produce, reminding us that even a large corporation can support small businesses and local farmers. On top of that, the staff has always been extremely helpful and friendly. After moving to North Chico, I come here often just for the wide variety and the support to the hard-working people of our town. Whenever I go there it is always in very neat and tidy condition. This is specific to the deli. I ordered a Monterey Chicken Salad Sandwich today and when I opened it up mayo was oozing out the side of it. I took one bite and the only taste I got was mayo with a very small hint of fruit. When I opened up the sandwich it was mayo with some chunks of chicken, but not much, and a few bits of fruit. Disgusting. When I called to inform them of this poor job, the excuse I got was, "this was the first time we made it. I will let them know." Honestly, by one look of it I knew it wasn't good. How it could be made and then used is beyond me. It also did not come with an apology. That sandwich went straight to the trash. Such a waste of money. For a grocery store that seems so upscale, this is the last type of customer service I expected. read more

Clean store with a great variety of everything I need. I love the produce department and the options to buy local. I also love the choice of self-check when I want to buy a few things and get in and out quickly or a friendly checker when I choose to buy a full shopping cart. My favorite option is eCart. Shop online then pull up and the friendly staff loads up my vehicle and I'm done shopping. Love it! read more

Raleys is a good place to go if you nned to pick up one of two items. I would not recommend going here to take care of all your grocery needs. They are a bit steep on the prices but if you look for the sales you can get some good buys. The staff at the pharmacy is very nice and can usually remember your name after you stop in a couple times. read more

So my mom decided she wanted to go to raleys around ten'ish - for ice cream when she was a little buzzed from aftwr dinner- so I was like "great- this should be awesome." Turns out the time in raleys was great and we were checked out by a woman named Dre who I think should be the face of Raleys because she is always there I swear it! I shop here a lot. The Raley's membership point system is cool and I can usually smart shop and save 2-20% on my total bill. I've saved $23 one trip! I think that's my record. Anyways, the staff is friendly, store is clean, food quality is top notch (and often priced accordingly..), and the variety is pretty good. My only thing with this location is probably very common but in the late afternoon/early evening there are often times not enough checkers and there can be several people ahead of you in line with carts full of items. I try to go after 8pm to avoid that whole annoyance but other than that I enjoy shopping here a lot. Definitely prefer it over Safeway. read more

Courtesy Automotive holds a free lunch Friday on the first Friday of each month for our employees. This last Friday we ordered fried chicken from Raley's and just because they were 10 minutes late, they catered free delicious sandwiches the very next day. Great service, great people. I have been going to Raley's since it opened. It is a little pricey. The employees are stellar--very helpful and cheerful. Since my well water is contaminated with nitrates, I've depended on bottled water. I appreciate their 4 unit water dispensing station very much--I usually fill 4 to 8 5-gallon bottles at a visit. However 1 unit has been broken for several months. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has mentioned it several times. I understand that Raley's depends on the company that provided the station for maintenance. I don't understand why this maintenance has not been done. read more

The worst customer service in Chico. Today they stuck me with a bag that I didn't ask for. When I told the cashier about it, she had this blank look on her face instead of giving my money back where I was forced to say I pay for it. Last time they charged me for two items that weren't in my basket. I shop there rarely, but to me it seems they are cheating customers to boost their lagging sales.
