This CVS has a nice size parking lot and the folks are always so friendly as you walk in. The store is clean and neat and things are organized very well. They always have an awesome sale on chocolates from the holidays. The shampoo and conditioner are always well stocked. It's always been a pleasure shopping here, on the way into the city. CVS is really the premiere pharmacy focused company. I can see why they gained so much of the market, while their competitors close their stores. read more

This is my neighborhood CVS, and while I may not be 100% satisfied all the time, I find everything I need most of the time. It's somewhat of a small store, so I understand stock can run out, but the store associates and management are always friendly and accommodating. There are also two recently added self-checkout counters for convenience. I have the CarePass, which grants a 20% discount on all CVS Health brand items. I love it and am glad the associates offered it to me when the program was first rolled out. I also love using the CVS app, where I get a lot of coupons linked to my CVS card. Very convenient. The pharmacy staff are usually very helpful, quick, and friendly. There are some who really excel at their work and exceed expectations. I'm glad they're around and appreciate the business being part of the Western/Asbury & Howard corridor. read more

I used to just about live in this location getting photos developed several times a month for three years. I moved and no longer have a real reason to walk over here anymore. But I had a T-Mobile Tuesday promo for free pics, and it was like visiting your "old hometown." Still professional. Still quick. Still easy to get QUALITY pics. I'm super relieved that the automated system stops calling/texting you to death to pick up photos you already retrieved weeks ago. No complaints. The cashier was nice as well. read more

This pharmacy is frustrating: they rarely remember to ship out prescriptions after promising to do so. The problem seems to be this one male pharmacist or tech. He's got such a memory issue that I now hang up when I hear his voice and call back until I get someone else in the pharmacy. We usually use the CVS at Foster and Broadway and the pharmacy team there is superb, but we have to rely on the Asbury location for a certain prescription the F/B store is often out of. I am not in the market to write a completely original review of this location, please see the corresponding review from another nearby location. However, as scattered as the Broadway location may be, Asbury has no excuse and provides agitated, snobbish, and unfriendly pharmacy customer service. Here's the story, and yes the Asbury location is part of it. CVS on Asbury was my last try before switching to a different pharmacy altogether. Please read: The pharmacy at the Broadway location is a revolving door of young 20 somethings who make consistent errors. Putting paper scripts on hold for scheduled drugs is no laughing matter, especially when once entered into their system are "lost". I ask if a script is on hold and they tell me yes. I ask if a refill is available for another drug and they tell me no. A week later, I get the exact opposite information from another pharmacy associate. I picked up a relief script from one doctor today as a courtesy without appointment, and I have another impromptu appointment with my PCP tomorrow to ensure I don't run out of that medication. In my frustration I try to switch to the Asbury CVS thinking something just doesn't work at this location, high turn over rate, communication breakdowns, etc. Switching to a different location is a fair and logical solution. Nah, 3 phone calls back and forth and a lot of wasted time and energy on my part to try to transfer all my scripts to the Evanston location on Asbury. Broadway says one thing, Asbury says another. I finally resorted to having a pharmacy staff from Broadway call Asbury to resolve the issue while I waited on hold. I told Broadway I'll call Asbury to confirm after we get off the phone and thanked them for their help. After the call ended I called Asbury for the snottiness pharmacy tech assistance in my life. How did she know, why was she so mean? SOMEONE WHO WORKED FOR CVS TOLD ME THE STAFF WRITES JUDGMENTAL STATEMENTS IN COSTUMER PROFILES IF THEY ENGAGE IN A COMPLAINT EXCHANGE TO GOSSIP AND WARN COWORKERS. That's juvenile, beyond being unprofessional. I am moving all of my scripts to Walgreens now. Let the kids have their Romper Room over at CVS- I have never dealt with more sophomoric nonsense and bad service, just to pick up medications. The Evanston location on Asbury is bougie as ever and still, completely lacking in etiquette, experienced, mature and polite customer service. Once in a while I will stop by this Cvs to get something like milk, juice etc. If I run out of something like that. Sometimes i just need 1 thing, or 2, or 3. You get the picture. It's relatively close to where I live, therefore most convenient. Never had any issues with service. Than again, i'm not super strict about people greeting me in this type of establishments, and ecpecting them to have a smile plastered on their face all the time. I never use their pharmacy, so don't know how it is. Good service, I get what I need, and I'm on my way. read more

The Manager and Pharmacist saved us tonight. My son had surgery today and got a painkiller prescription. I filled it here but stupidly did not notice pharmacy closed at 9p. When I arrived at 9:20...I learned that since was an opioid they could not transfer to another store. Sensing the problem-a night of excruciating pain-the pharmacist (who had already worked a 14 hour day) DROVE BACK TO THE STORE 45 MINUTES OUT OF HER WAY to rescue the paper prescription so we could fill at another pharmacy. Totally changed my opinion of CVS and this store. What a wonderful person. I hope both pharmacist and manager are recognized by CVS corporate for going above and beyond. read more

I don't care if this place is easy to get to or open 24/7. The pharmacy here terrible. Every time I go in here there is a different excuse why they can not fill the prescription or sell me the drugs. I have tried three times to fill a prescription here and each time I get b.s. Today was the last straw. After being told 8 days ago I can only have my insurance refill this for 15 pills per month and to come back after the 6th, I was told by the first rep that I have no prescription, then it is only every 90 days even though the provider clearly stated in the P.A. 1 per day not 15 per 90. I asked for the head pharmacist who told me I COULD NOT buy it without insurance. Told me that insurance companies change their regulations DAILY . Told me that the pharmacist I spoke with that evening was NOT a CVS employee. Ok. 1 another pharmacy took the RX and filled it within 15 minutes = liar. 2. I spoke to manager and pharmacist was most definitely a CVS employee and not some bum off the street or the janitor filling out prescriptions = LIAR. 3. Other pharmacy charged plan for 15 and...and....and....sold me 15 cash within 20minutes of this bum telling me I can't get my drugs. 4. Logged onto my provider. Health Policy and RX policy has not changed in 18months so.....so much for the DAILY changes and Rogue Homeless people acting as pharmacists. WORTHLESS. LOOK AT THE REVIEWS. They don't want to work, just give bs stories about magical policy changes and faux employees doing work. If there was ever a place in need of a overhaul top down change management this is the place. Very unhappy with the service I just received. I got a phone call earlier today saying that my prescription was available for pick up. Just stopped in at their 24 hour drive thru after work to pick it up. Not only was the pharmacist on duty rude about me giving him a hyphenated name ("Well, which one is it then?"). He left the window for a while then came back and said there was nothing there for me and why did I come. I said, because you called earlier to say it was ready. Then he proceeded to tell me what there was indeed an order there for and asked me if I wanted it. Um, yes. That's why I'm in your drive thru. Then he says it wasn't filled and it would be 30 minutes wait because he was by himself. I told him I would just pick it up in the morning. He goes "fine" and slams the sliding door shut. Great customer service CVS. I see why my husband uses the Walgreens across the street instead. Perhaps I'll join him. read more

Two stars because it's open 24/7 and it's very close to home. The store is usually neat and tidy enough, but there ALWAYS seems to be a long line to check out. It seems that many like to do their primary grocery shopping here (really? Who really needs a shopping cart at CVS???) so you might find yourself a bit short-tempered when you've got a gallon of milk and a bottle of ibuprofen and there's four shopping carts in front of you full of various junk foods and sodas. Pharmacy is perfectly adequate for all of my old people libations, potions, poultices and prescription pecker lotion, though one of the techs needs a gay friend to teach her about mascara. She could be pretty... Upfront, if more than one person is in line it jams up like a colon after lots of cheese and morphine, (I have experience with this. First, a coffee can hard poop, then nothing but hot dog water.) It's like they don't actually want to sell their overpriced convenience food items. read more

I didn't really do much shopping other than something to drink, but the store looked a little disheveled and the poor guy up front was apparently the only one working. It's kind of weird to write a review for Pharmacy - cause I'd never thought you can "screw up" service/etc. in pharmacy. But... So, I came to pick up my medication - they couldn't find it right away, so they tried to located. Apparently, "lovely" pharmacist assistants there have never heard of the word "privacy" or, perhaps, have not understand the meaning of it. I did not enjoy them yelling the name of my medication across the room, then my address, then my phone number, then address again, then medication name again. The salespeople don't know what pipe cleaners are. Definitely a generational thing. I thought everyone encountered a pipe cleaner as a child in an art class project, where you twist the wire into a stick man. Two people sent me to a section to unclog my pipes. I specifically told these people that my grandfather smokes a pipe and wants to clean it. One person even went so far as to follow me out the store and suggest I go to ACE hardware. My friend went to this CVS because I urged him to. He had not filled his high blood pressure prescription and had not had his meds in 5 days. He was not well when he was attempting to fill his prescription. The Pharmacist, a Latina woman, stated to him that it was to late. He told her he had been without his meds for a week. She retorted, "you have been without meds for a week, one more day is not going to kill you!". I called the store and they we still open, so why could she not fill his prescription? I called the following morning and the Manager Nick said my friend could come pick up the meds. No empathy that my friend was treated less than human by one of his Pharmacist. I asked that the 20.00 fee for the medication be waived and Nick the manager just kept repeating himself. "He can pick up his medication now." My friend has been a long time customer and a member of the community in which this CVS is located. I would Not Ever recommend this store to anyone living in this community. They need your business and my friend or your family can shop at any other store that will treat you like a human being. read more

Immediately called the pharmacy, but the first time, they hung up on me (rude). The second time, they transferred me to a voicemail! I admit, I am one to hold a grudge. This is probably not something that will matter to other people, but--- When my cat was terminally ill with brain cancer, I got her medication from this CVS as well as the Walgreens across the way. It wasn't a special 'pet' medication, it was 'people meds', and it was, apparently, a controlled substance. It was a foul tasting liquid. As you might imagine, cats tend to spit out out unpleasant liquids. I'd then need to redose the cat. I'd also sometimes spill it. Because of this I'd sometimes need refills sooner than the dosing instructions would suggest. A pharmacist at CVS all but accused me of being a junky. Even when I explained the situation, and suggested he call the vet to confirm this, he gave me a hard time and wouldn't let me buy more. When a medication is all that's between your cat and seizures, and you're OUT of it, this is NOT ok. I wrote CVS corporate, and they basically blew me off - said they'd 'investigate'. I would believe this if I'd ever heard back from them after that. Maybe I didn't come across as the most put together person at the time - there's something about your cat being terminally ill that can really mess you up - but when you work at a pharmacy, you should be able to deal with people under all sorts of physical and emotional stresses....and not make it worse. read more

The CVS pharmacy may well qualify for the worst pharmacy in northern Illinois. I had an amputation surgery and on my way home from the hospital I made the BIG mistake of stopping to have my prescription filled. I told the pharmacist of my surgery and that I was on my way home from the hospital. Did that cause them to expedite my prescription? Nooo way. I had to wait 35 minutes for my prescription to be filled. Today my MD gave CVS an authorization for a temporary refill of a neurological prescription. CVS told me that was impossible. I had to contact OPTUMRX for approval. Sooo I contacted OPTUMRX as CVS had told me to do only to find out that it was CVS that should have made contact with OPTUMRX. I give up. Anybody know of a drugstore where I can have my prescriptions filled that isn't a "slug-store" like CVS? read more

Customer service is really just horrible here. Since getting insurance, I've been here at least 6 times and have NEVER been charged for prescriptions. I came in for my third refill and was not informed that I was going to be charged $46 for the meds. When I asked if my insurance was used the guy said, "Uhhhh ummmm yeah um that's with your insurance." He really didn't seem like he had any clue what he was doing. I figured this must be a mistake and I would take it up with my insurance and be reimbursed. The pharmacy said I had a one-time use coupon that had been used an now I had to pay. But this was my third refill. Why wasn't I charged the last time? Or the time before that? They have no clue. My insurance company has no clue. In fact, the first time I went in I did have a coupon and it was handed back to me - the guy said, "Oh you don't need this. Your insurance covers it." No coupon was ever applied. I went back to return said unopened prescription and was told they never take returns. When I asked where that policy was stated or displayed, the woman had no answer except, "If you go to Walgreen's or any other pharmacy they'll tell you the same thing." ... That's not the issue! While I'm glad CVS messed up and didn't charge me for months, no one is admitting their mistake, no one can explain to me why I wasn't / was charged, and no one offered at all to rectify the situation in any way. I told the woman I talked to that I'd had really bad experiences the last few times I was in and that it made me want to discontinue filling prescriptions with them, and she offered NO solution. She did nothing to keep me as a customer, which shows they really don't care about their customers' business. I'll take my money to a more local company that deserves my business. Get your meds elsewhere. read more

A lady Eveytte( sorry for m.s) went out of her way to another location to get them made. I did not get to Thank her in person, but what she did is what customer service is all about. I've had pharmacists eating as they are talking to me, or shouting at me things like "You don't have INSURANCE????" when I was in between jobs. This pharmacy was the only one who had my particular medication. My doc called it in Friday morning and I was supposed to pick it up late that night. Came in the next morning (a significant drive from my house) and it wasn't ready, and the girl on duty couldn't tell me why it hadn't been done or why no one had called me to let me know the status. She said the overnight guy would call me that night after eight, and yet again I received no phone call. I finally called Sunday afternoon to see if it was done -- sure enough, it was, and yet again no one could tell me why I hadn't gotten a call. I specifically left a number. Next time I'll just have the medication ordered from the Walgreens by my house, because apparently I'm not getting it when I need it from this place anyway, even though it's in stock. read more

The actual store part is staffed by extraordinarily friendly, caring employees who always go the extra mile to be helpful. Ten stars for them. The pharmacy is the exact opposite. The pharmacists -- not just the cashiers, but the actual professionals -- are anything but that. They routinely fail to communicate when a drug is unavailable and act as if it's candy or a magazine or something else that I really don't need. In the past week I dropped off a script and was told it would be ready in a couple hours. When I returned 2 days later to pick it up, they told me there was nothing ready for me. When I insisted they dig a little deeper, they told me they didn't carry the medication. When I asked why they took the script in the first place & why they couldn't even bother to call me, they made a point of showing how much they didn't care. Not one of the three, including the pharmacist, apologized & they refused to call a different pharmacy to transfer it. Then one of the techs took his sweet time finding the script while the pharmacist and another young woman working there giggled. Hilarious! And then today I called to make sure they had a medication that my doctor called in about 20 hours ago. The pharmacist, the same young woman who had a good time giggling at my expense last week, told me it was out of stock and that they would "try" to order it today. When I asked when they would get it, she said "in 2-4 days." Really? This is a basic medication, nothing special. They can't keep basic meds in stock, are very laid back about ordering out of stock meds, make no effort to communicate with people whose scripts they have in hand but cannot fill, and could care less about how any of this affects the people depending on them. The Walgreens a block away filled these scripts, start to finish, including having to fill out everything for a brand new customer, in 15 minutes. And it was done by a young woman who was completely professional and friendly. I've transferred all of my medications there. read more

Overall, they've done a nice job. I've used the pharmacy, MinuteClinic, and photo services. They're open 24/7 and they're close to my home so they're super convenient. With the Minute-Clinic, I've had to wait only a short amount of time but was very grateful as I was sick on a holiday weekend and could not get in to see my doctor and didn't want to sit in an urgent care center for an afternoon. Haven't had problems with the pharmacy except that they've occasionally had to order something. I'm fortunate to not much in the way of pharmaceuticals. Photo manager was very helpful with a last minute project at Christmas. All around, I've had a way better experience with them in the last two years than with any of the other pharmacies in the immediate area of Rogers Park/Evanston. read more

Prescription prices are high if you do not have prescription insurance. The technicians lack interpersonal skills and seemed disorganized. Pharmacist was mediocre. The items in the store aside from prescriptions were rather high. I would not especially seek out a CVS pharmacy for my prescriptions. Walgreen's is not better. I like Jewel Osco or Wal-Mart. Your presence at CVS only benefits their bottom line not yours. Mediocre pharmacy. read more

I have been going to this CVS pharmacy for more than a year now, but this was the first time I had to deal with Henry at the check out counter. The printer for CVS coupons was malfunctioning (this is the case on almost every other visit) and I was unable to print them out. Prior to this I would request the staff and they would scan my CVS card and let me know what offers I had. But not Henry. He first refused pointblank to help me. He then proceeded to explain how this could not be done and the only way I could see what offers I had on my card would be after check out when I got my receipt. When I tried to explain that I had checked my card with the staff many times in the past, he simply interrupted me mid-sentence and repeated the same spiel about getting the offers at sign out. Far from an apology for the printer malfunctioning, Henry was condescending and rude throughout the entire conversation. I was both shocked and outraged at this kind of behavior from a 'customer representative' as printed on Henry's name tag. I will never go to this CVS pharmacy again, and I strongly recommend to everyone that they avoid this person Henry unless they would like an earful on how customers at CVS are expected to behave. read more

I just saw Dr. Chaudhry at the Quick Care Clinic, and despite the fact that I am strongly averse to using Yelp (as one who works in the service industry and sees how it is abused), I had to use this opportunity to give her a shout-out. I was so impressed with the doctor's wonderful bedside manner. I went in with a nasty case of bronchitis paired with a sinus infection, which I've been trying to treat myself. That obviously wasn't working ... Dr. Chaudhry was very kind, warm and patient, even pausing as she was talking during my coughing fits so I wouldn't miss any of her advice. She took her time with me and answered all of my questions patiently. Doctors can often seem dismissive or cold, and I think these types of clinics might not always be taken seriously for the services they provide. This was so fast and convenient ... I was able to get the prescriptions I needed, and the entire thing took less than a half hour, after having walked in with no appointment. Thank you, Doctor, for easing my misery with such a wonderful demeanor on top of it! :) read more
