The people are nice here. And prescriptions don't take too long to fill............ plus it's next to a QuikTrip so that's pretty cool.

It wouldn't have been a big deal if the manager had helped check people out after most of them had been waiting for over 30 minutes in line. Two people were in front of me and wanted to buy alcohol and a bag of dog food I think? They wound up leaving because the manager told them "we can't check you out here." I would like to say, that is entirely false because I have been checked out at that counter a couple of times. They just didn't want to. And the people in front of me were understandably upset and left without their cart of items. It was after the upset customer left that this manager finally came to help. She walked off several times. She kept yelling at people to back up because the line started at the corner. This whole situation could have been avoided if they had two people at this counter from the start. There were 4 other people taking care of online orders back there. In response to Tara J.: As someone that used to work at walmart, I can tell you they do drug test BUT ONLY in the hiring process. Once you work there, they don't care unless it inhibits your ability to perform tasks. I had pneumonia and they fired me because I didn't make it into work. I was stopped across the street from Walmart by a lady because I was in uniform, about to walk across but I was actively throwing up and they didn't care that I was sick. Ended up in the ER.

Over the last few years it has become more and more unpleasant to go in there, and last night was the last straw for us. I will starve or go without aspirin if needed in the future because I will NOT go back. We arrived at the door at 9:15p, checked the hours on the door before entering to be sure we were not going to be rude and hold up a store worker to find we had plenty of time because the store closes at 10pm. We had 4 indecisive people all going around looking at various snacks and drinks, enjoying ourselves and chatting obliviously other than noting the obnoxiously loud music being played by the store clerk. It was very loud and annoying, but whatever, he has to work there, so we get over those things. Then all of a sudden the clerk slammed the glass double doors shut, so we thought... "oh he must be wanting to close shop". What I can't get over is the way he behaved as I walked up to the counter to check out. Being a very friendly person I am, I smiled and said "Hi how are you" as I walked to the counter only to be greeted with a sour, eye rolling, face being put out that I was even there. I immediately looked for a clock thinking we had overstayed closing, and I said at the same time "did we keep you late, I thought you closed at 10? As my eyes found the clock, it was only 9:30p. What I cannot get over is that as my daughter and rest of my family filtered in behind me to place their items on the counter, he rudely barked and aggressively waved his arm "I've got stuff to do!". Hmm, ok. I was immediately offended by him snapping at me the way he did. It was uncalled for, and we are literally spending elevated(captive) prices for being off a hotel lobby just to shop in there, so being rude doesn't help me feel like ever coming back, not to mention how ghetto(run down, etc) feeling the store and Crown Center has become. This man's demeanor was awful. He clearly oozed resentment, disdain and indignation at having to be there and aimed that energy at my entire family. We completed the checkout in mostly tense silence other than I had to tell my husband to hurry up a bit to the counter because this guy has "stuff to do...", which clearly baffled him, and he said "wait I thought they were open until 10, it's only 9:30p?". I said "Yes, but he's got stuff to do apparently, and we're holding him up.". The man never, not once, took a step back, or apologized or let alone said "thank you"... he was just pissy the whole time. We won't be back, not even if we're desperate.

You see, I run, and running makes me want ice cream. So this time instead of stopping at Sonics.... I went in, and was surprised at the weird empty shelves on one end. The other part is a long old time 50's looking ice cream soda bar. There was '50's music playing. There are some booths. The menu is not large, but there's only one woman serving. I ordered a hot dog which was 3.50 and a strawberry ice cream soda. I was hoping for strawberry topping in the soda, but she used strawberry flavoring. I was hoping for whipped cream, but it wasn't offered. The soda was good. The hotdog was common. It isn't like Clintons Soda Fountain in Independence which is really good and uses toppings and fruit. Fox's was fun for an outing. But I'd rather go to Clintons Soda Fountain. The service, though, was spot on and enjoyable.

The nostalgic bug bit me and I had to relive the childhood sundry experience. The fountain is located too the left when you enter the pharmacy. It has a counter the length of the building and some tables. The vibe was definitely the old school fountain, neon, oldies in the radio, fizzes, ice cream, etc. There menu is very limited for food. Hot dogs, tuna salad, egg salad, grilled cheese, and chili. They have a grill but when they reopened the health department said they needed a new hood limiting the options. I had a inbetweenie weenie, Frito pie with a hot dog, and a chocolate shake. The hot dog was ok. Nothing fabulous, not bad. A little bland and no heat in the chili. The chocolate shake was good, but not wow. Service was very friendly although some comments made me uncomfortable and responding with a nod and smile seemed best. My bill was $11.11. not ridiculous, but sure seemed high for what I had. I don't think I'll eat there again. Maybe go with a group to enjoy the fountain experience. They close at 4. Later hours could really help the I've cream side of the business.
