Most noteworthy as the store where Bill & Ted began their Excellent Adventure, Circle-K is not a huge brand on the east coast but it certainly runs circles around the uniformly moribund and grotesque 7-11. The first thing you notice is that the place is clean and the coffee station doesn't look like it belongs in a prison commissary. As of yet I haven't mustered the courage necessary to try the pre-packaged food but perhaps that may happen one day on a dare. Or, perhaps not. It's not quite Wawa but it will do in a pinch.

This weekend we both had a hankering for a good Italian sub, so we stopped by. We got a HUGE, very well made Stop & Go Italian sub. It was very fresh and tasty, and at only $12, the sub was a steal. I kid you not, I think that thing was pushing 10 pounds. Also, the two men who were working were so nice! They introduced themselves to us, shook our hands and we had some nice conversation that's hard to find these days, especially in a convenience store when usually they're just trying to move people through. The men even threw in a couple of free sodas for us. We were only there about 10 minutes, but in that time a handful of customers came in and they clearly were friends with the workers. One guy even said he moved far away but still comes back here just because it's such a good place with good people. We could literally walk here from our house, so we'll definitely be back!

Used to be my favorite gas station. I was in my way home coming up route 1 north and needed gas…read morebadly. The sign had 3 numbers on it that could be seen from the road...3.23, 3.35 and then price for premium...don't remember exactly. I pull up to the pump and realize the price on the sign is for cash and then for credit but its not marked. I still filled up with my card but that's only because I was very low. I asked the worker at the pump if the manager was on duty. He wasn't. I asked him about the price and he said it was clearly marked on the sign and I said that I couldn't see it from the highway. He didn't seem to care and explained to me that the prices have changed after another company took over the station. I continued with the same idea that it was false advertising with the prices on the sign. I also said that he has lost me as a customer after this transaction. He said that it didn't matter and there would be another customers behind me. Unacceptable business practices. I've also driven by twice since and coming south on route 1 the cash and credit words can barely be seen. The opposite way, they are not there.

Because I am the least preppy and run-of-the-mill hanging-on-mom-and-dad's-expense account type. My ruggedness fits right in at 'Palmer Square' with my leather jackets and frayed jeans: the way oil and vinegar mix! That said, I enjoy my outlaw status at Princeton's angled walkways and shops and cliche coffee houses. When I enter Small World Coffee or order up at The Yankee Doodle Tap Room the women visibly gasp at my long locks and muscles in disbelief! People either think I am an astrophysicist on a hallucinogenic or a Greaser from the 1950s. The Rebel Chef has what is sorely needed in this town: frassos. Palmer Square is where all the ritzy brats in this town go to buy their $500 undershirts, Choo-choo train toys and loafers. It's a lit-up snazzy horseshoe shaped little park with some sign posts, historical markers, restaurants, bars, clothes stores, arches and bookshops. People come to walk poodles. It gets busy around here between about 10am until 3pm, after that all the monocled scientists and 'an athletic scholarship in high jump bought me my way to a degree in biology' - types go to their small dorms for long naps. Palmer Square is nonetheless an archaic but valued (if for its aura and celebrated window shopping) nexus and hub for the hamlet of Princeton.
