I guess an older child would rather kick it with the computer or other fun kiddie activities instead of traveling up and down the aisles. I'm pretty sure my mom would have used this service back in the day, instead of dealing with me hanging off the cart, pulling crap off the shelves that she wasn't gonna buy. The strategically placed chicken pot pie signage got my attention, so I got one, along with some chicken strips. The good dude behind the counter assured me that the strips were good. He was right. The hot food I picked up was derishus. Pot pie was hearty and flavorful. I'm bummed there's no bottom crust lining the pie tin, but the top crust was delightfully light and flaky. Chicken strips were quite good...seasoned coating and moist bird, not overcooked and dry or sitting way too long in the display case. The gal at the checkout register. I don't know what to make of this one. Cranky, bad day, visit from Aunt Flow? I'm not from around these parts, so I don't carry a frequent shopper card. Other places either hook me up with the store discount anyways, or at least give me an opportunity to sign up. Not her. No store savings this time, pal. A different employee (early 20s) came up to me and I said I want to order the cake. She points to the signage and says order online. I told her it's custom and I wanted to select the color options. She told me to do it online and I can edit it at check out. I said last time I was here, the employee got out the iPad and was assisting me with customizing it. She told me she'd "make a one time exception" and moved to go get the iPad. I told her to forget it and walked away because her attitude was about to earn her more than she could handle. Today I ordered on line, called the bakery to customize, because guess what, I could only customize the color of the message. And now this person asks how long ago did I place the order (um, 2 minutes ago) we'll call back because it takes a few hours before the order will be seen in the system. Why it's so inconvenient to help a customer customize a cake when you WORK. IN. THE. BAKERY is mind blowing. I didn't go to the tire section and order a cake. I went to the bakery. They have fresh fruit and veggies and they looked fresh and in good condition. They have a deli - they have a large frozen foods section - they have clothing, bakeware, groceries... I even bought some cute oven-proof bowls to make french onion soup in! And you would think that the prices would be way high, but although a few things were a little higher, the majority of the products were priced pretty much what you would pay at Giant Eagle or Target. They have a really nice deli with a large selection of meats, cheeses and salads. Some grab n go sandwiches and snacks are available at the deli and at the front of the store as well. They have a decent sized fresh produce kiosk, dairy, frozen and huge beer and wine section. It is indeed a one stop shop. They DO save you the run around, as their famous jingle indicates. The thing that I love most about Drug Mart is that they carry a lot of items that no one else does. Even right down to a local made almond milk. Love that! They have aisles and aisles of just about anything you could need at competitive prices. I've found some more hard to find cosmetics and hair products there, too. And did I mention that their cosmetics department is huge? My only complaint is that I wish they carried more lines of cruelty free products, but they're progressing. So, overall, I'm thrilled that there's a location so close to home now and it's not another CVS or Walgreen's. If you're in the area, check it out!
