I agree with a few others that something bad has happened with the Pharmacy section. The staff are helpful and one even went out of his way to help the other day. But the lines are LOOOOONG and now when I call to get a refill, I either get a recording that the number is out of service or I get a fax-line sound. Very inconvenient. Consistently incompetent during the 6 months I used them, unnecessarily staggering my prescriptions, claiming wrongly that it was the fault of the insurance company or my doctor's secretary, this pharmacy deserves not one-star, the lowest rating possible on this site, but no star. Several pharmacists--you never deal with the same person--promised to straighten out the chaos, but over a period of weeks, nobody ever did. I never knew when a prescription was going to be delivered, and some were delivered that I had not ordered. The prehistoric automated phone system is unequal to the volume of calls and cuts you off all the time. The people who receive you in the pharmacy are often rude and always in a hurry. One of the worst CVS stores in the city. It's outdated and poorly laid out. The pharmacy is a zoo, poorly organized, dysfunctional, and insufficiently customer-focused. Avoid this CVS. Seriously. Avoid. Called ahead, was told my prescription was ready. Went in, was told it needed "a few minutes." THIRTY FIVE minutes later I still hadn't gotten my medicine. Complained to the man who was giving out the prescriptions and he could not have been RUDER. Gray hair, glasses, avoid him. Ten minutes later my prescription was ready, but WAIT, now there was a 25 minute line to wait in !!! Great. And I would like to point out this is the third time I've had a bad experience here. this is THE WORST cvs in the world. getting around is impossible because of the weird bottleneck layout, and there is ALWAYS a line about fifty deep. even when managers are standing around. this makes my blood boil; they should open more lanes, not direct traffic! so stupid. although, i will say this for cvs corporate: i had a horrible experience with their self checkout (which i will not recount here-- don't want to raise my blood pressure), so i called customer service. they apologized, said they had received numerous complaints about that location, and sent me a gift card! this is the only reason i boycott only this location and not the entire chain. on the other hand, i walk in from time to time with other people getting stuff, and the people watching is pretty unparalleled. read more

I don't normally hate on CVS, but this is the worst location I have encountered. Whenever I walk in here to pick something up quickly, I always walk out empty handed. The products are disorganized, items are always out of stock, and the automated cash registers are the worst I've ever used. Additionally, I encountered problem after problem when trying to pick up an Rx for my boyfriend a few months back...the pharmacist could not find the prescribing doctor in the directory and also tried to tell me that my boyfriend didn't have insurance (he does have insurance and it took a good 45 minutes of arguing before the pharmacist figured it out). Sucks because this is the most convenient drugstore to my apartment. read more

I brought in all my relativess CVS prescriptions to find out what they are for and side effects. Pharamacist barely took any time to go over medications THE MEDICATIONS THEY PROVIDED in an extremely hurried manner, couldnt tell me about ANY side effects. She printed out basic info on 2 medications and told me to "call your doctor if youre having any problems with the medications". COULD YOU BE ANY LESS HELPFUL?!! COULD THIS PHARMACY BE ANY MORE UNDERSTAFFED...ITS A MAJOR METROPOLITAN AREA, WTH?!!. Really insufficiently helpful. CVS needs to HIRE MORE STAFF at this pharmacy. :-( VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCES! Additionally I called this pharmacy to find out if they deliver prescriptions and if they could also throw in a bottle of Tylenol. NO. He couldn't explain if they charged extra for RX deliveries. He couldn't tell me any other place who could deliver Tylenol. How very disappointing. :-( 3-23-14 update this is my siblings pharmacy. I went there in person to iron out their delivery issues. I entered my credit card info into their computer. They said everything was fine and that they'd now deliver the prescriptions. But, whenever a refill is needed or a new Rx is called in, theres a problem. It took five days of calling, then I finally marched down there and had to stand in line 15 minutes to pick them up myself. I spoke with them AGAIN, in person, and now they deliver, BUT ONLY IF I SPECIFICALLY CALL each time. CVS is messed up! Then, CVS called ME and said a new Rx had been called in by Dr....so I said Ok deliver it. BUT, I dont trust CVS, so I put the RX on a shelf...and I made multiple calls to my sibling's Dr. the Dr. Said NO, he did not call in any Rx and asked whose name is on the bottle (his name)? Personally, I think HIS OFFICE did this, NOT CVS. But anyway....CVS is not superb at all. i am going to switch pharmacies as soon as I find a better one. I know I'm only adding to the horrible reviews but I just have to vent. Their staff is surly, rude and overwhelmed. I'm so tired of putting up with this place. How tough could it be to train people to look customers in the eye, say please and thank you and speak clearly. It's disgusting, really, and makes me feel angry and upset at the end of my day. I believe the staff of this pharmacy are trying to do their best to fill prescriptions accurately and quickly for customers but there is something about the management or operations system in place at this, and perhaps other, CVS pharmacies that causes them to screw up more prescriptions than not. It happens almost ever time I go there and this latest experience is worth sharing. I dropped-off a prescription for a very time- and environmentally sensitive medication several days ago and emphasized the absolute need for me to be able to collect this prescription today so that it could be administered tomorrow. I received the pharmacist's assurance that that would not be a problem. Between then and now I've had so many phones calls from, and return visits to, this pharmacy to clear up confusion on their part that I've lost count. First they said the insurance would no longer cover the medication, I'd have to pay $56.00. This, even though my insurance covered the same thing the previous month at another CVS location. Then I was told that it would cover it but that they didn't know how to code it properly. Then that they did not have it in stock and they'd have to back order it. And finally I received a message yesterday, while out enjoying a beautiful summer evening, that they could not fill the prescription at all, at least not for a couple months because they can't get the drug, so I would have to go get the original prescription and find my medication at some other pharmacy with less than 24 hours before it has to be administered. Nice! Why not just tell me that from the start? Why misinform patients about something so serious as prescription medication? Just say you can't do it from the start and set us free. You should have that information available to you at the time the patient drops off the prescription, right? I can deal with all kinds of people and long waits, it comes with the zip code, but when professional pharmacists are unable to provide honest accurate information about doctor-prescribed medications, it's time to find a new pharmacy. read more

Staying not to far from here. Woke up really thirsty and saw remembered it was 24/7 so thought awesome I'll go there. I walk in to to buy my water & the worker says "you need help" with attitude and just watched me as if I were going to steal something. The guys standing around like security. The worst cvs I have been to, the self check out machines never work properly. I was charged twice for my total and then accused of scanning my items twice. Although the staff at Duane Reade are generally polite, the checkout is always understaffed and there is a permanent line. Hate this store. Lines for prescriptions are endless. They often get the pricing wrong and even the wrong prescription so you need to be very careful and check pricing and what they've handed you. If you have some type of discount card they try their hardest not to accept it. Took several attempts to get a prescription for 20.00 that they insisted was a few hundred dollars. I have several insurances and they can never get them correct. If you need to find something there is usually no one around and if there is they have no idea where the product may be. read more

The pharmacy used to be great here ... about 10 years ago. Now they just suck. Don't call you when a prescription is filled or to let you know your insurance doesn't cover it. When you call to find out what's going on with your Rx 3 weeks later, they say, oh, we called you. Lie. But just come in. We have it for you. So, I go in, wait 20 minutes only to be told they don't have it. They are all out. Can't find it in other nearby CVS. I need this tomorrow. Now, I'm trying to get the Rx transferred to Duane Reade. I bet they haven't picked up the phone from the DR pharmacy. Seriously, the only reasons to go to CVS are a) convenience and b) for the coupons!!!! But take your Rx elsewhere. read more

This pharmacy has become SCARY!! They run out of medicines that are Narcotics... Imagine being told that you have to wait 5 - 7 days to get a refill on a medicine that if suspended or not taken for 1 day will not only cause one's pain to run amok but will also cause withdrawal. The staff lies to customers about why prescriptions can't be filled or when. They contradict each other phone call by phone call. Calling is another animal...45-1hr waiting time to get connected or you get a fax sound or a pick up and put on hold 2 or 3x's Just ludicrous. My wife has given the wrong dose on several occasions. I have had to call my insurance on numerous occasions to have them verify facts that CVS 86 ST. Should have. Long story short this CVS should be overhauled and investigated. Some of the pharmacist are curt and rude and some of the staff are down right incompetent. It seems to get worse as time goes on and staff and pharmacists change. Well damn. Just when I thought this pharmacy was getting better. Tonight I went in for my prescription, with a line behind me, some of which left due to the delay in any service at all, I waited, silently, calmly, patiently, about 15 minutes for even anyone to acknowledge me. When someone did approach, the first thing they did was notice the foul gas that my dog had just produced. Immediately, and with no tact, she made 'whew' noises and gestures, stepping back from the register without a word to anyone or me, except for to say 'I need to get some spray'. She walked slowly to the back of the room and walked slowly again to the front, spraying and even stepping out from behind the counter to spray all over where the waiting people were. I said 'it's really not a big deal, can you help me, I've been waiting a while' and she said 'oh no! I'm allergic'. First of all, allergic to passed gas? Second of all, does anyone in this pharmacy understand that taking care of the customer, the customer in need of their medicines, is first and foremost, not the unpleasantry of odor they might have to endure for a few minutes? Third of all, what if this odor was not produced by my dog, but by me, or by another person in the line, and I was just covering? She reacted loudly and conspicuously before I even blamed it on the dog. CLASSLESS and awful. I cringe at thinking the embarrassment felt if it had been from a person, to have someone react so crudely and spray all over the place, and before even attending to the customers. Is this woman in grade school? Absolutely immature and low level behavior. Unprofessional. I am so sick of this pharmacy employing people with zero class and the slowest energy I have ever seen. The rest of this CVS is awesome, I love the employees, people with a smile and an eagerness to do their job successfully... the pharmacy however seems to find the most miserable people who really shouldn't be interacting with others. PLEASE, to wherever hope goes, fire and newly employ better people for the job, who don't take forever to attend to the customers, with a scowl, and potentially humiliate in the process the people they are there to help. This is the WORST CVS I have ever encountered. If I could give them a negative rating I would. I ordered pictures there on March 7th. Then someone calls me at 8am on March 10th to tell me that my pictures are ready. I went into said CVS and had to wait in line for fifteen minutes while the cashier took her time with ONE person and other CVS employees were directing imaginary traffic to the self-checkout lines. Then the Cashier tells me that my photos are not ready and she is not sure why someone called me and then proceeds to begin helping the next person in line and ignored me. So I called corporate and explained the situation and they told me that the spoke with the store and the manager said that he found my stuff right away. I went back to the store later that night and the manager tells me that my photo's are still not ready. Apparently when the customer service representative asked him if my pictures were ready the manager just looked in the computer to see if my name was in the system rather than checking to see that they were printed. I called back March 15 (over a week after ordering my pictures) and the CVS STILL did not have my pictures ready and still did not seem to think that there was a problem with their work ethic. Usually very nice staff but I called today looking for Jason the store manager and was told he was there and that another manager (carlos) was available to talk with. I was on hold for 15 minutes and then I hung up and called back. when I called back they immediately put me back on hold . I waited a little while and call back again and the phone just rang a 10 minutes. I finally called through the pharmacy and the lady transfer me to the same person who put me on hold 3 times (carlos). I couldn't understand why he was doing that.
