Worst pharmacy ever. Severely understaffed to the point that the staff asked me to call corporate and complain. Inside the place is filthy. I was there last night to pick up two prescriptions and I was told that one of them was out of stock. When another pharmacist spoke up and said, let me check that because I don't think that's possible. This pharmacist was correct. I was in serious pain and they were getting ready to send me to another pharmacy somewhere in Newport News to get the medication that they actually did have in stock. As I sat there and waited for it to be filled, which took 30 minutes and I was told it would be less than 15 all I could notice was how filthy the chairs the table the floor everything was. The first woman I spoke with was very rude, and dismissive of my concerns. I don't live in Newport News. I'm only here a few days a week and with a Fourth of July weekend coming up the pharmacy I would've had to go to in my town would have been closed. So the pharmacist who spoke up actually saved me a lot of problems. I do appreciate that, but this store is ridiculous. I'm a CVS plus member and we can get deliveries and every time I order something online, I end up getting half of what I ordered because it says it's in stock online, but when I actually get my order half of the items were out of stock. I use coupons and points to purchase a lot of things so when my order is not complete, I lose the value of those coupons and points. It's maddening. read more

I went to pick up a prescription that my physician has prescribed for me for a number of years because of back pain and spasms. Suddenly after years I am told they cannot fill this prescription without a new prescription from my physician. The physician sent out a new prescription, but the pharmacy still refused to fill it stating it is a controlled substance which is the first I have ever heard this about this drug. The pharmacy stated my insurance no longer covered it so I said I would pay out of pocket. They still refused to fill it because the insurance company needed to speak with my physician. I accepted this as protocol although I had never been informed before regarding this medication, but my annoyance is with the pharmacy worker who was positively smug with me and acted as though I was a drug addict seeking to obtain a controlled substance, which I previously stated in this review and to the pharmacist that I had never been told that before. This is not the first time I have been treated like this at this pharmacy. I feel insulted at their insinuations about me. For this very reason, I will be changing pharmacies and I will no longer encourage anyone to use it. I'm not sure what's going on with CVS's lately but they are poorly staffed which makes trying to ask a question or find something incredibly difficult. The lines are long, some have self-checkout but if you are not wanting to do that you have no other option or there'll be one checker and a line halfway back to store read more

Every time I try and pick up a prescription from the pharmacy no matter how long I wait to go to the store they tell me it'll be at least an hour wait. My doctor called in a prescription at 9 AM and I came in at 3 PM just to pick up 12 ibuprofen pills and they told me it would be over an hour wait. The lady at the desk was very rude about it. I will not be returning here anymore. read more

Literally the worst CVS Pharmacy in Virginia. The pharmacy is very unorganized and the workers seem lazy but I'm not going to blame them as they're probably overworked & underpaid. Still no excuse for the poor pharmacy services. Do better CVS. read more

Normally, I have no issues with this pharmacy. The pharmacists are usually very kind and efficient, however I want to note an experience for the business itself as to avoid future issues. One of their employees was incredibly rude and disrespectful. I was in a frustrating circumstance with insurance (not the fault of the pharmacy) but in turn had to transfer my prescription from CVS pharmacy to another. The man at the Walgreens pharmacy had informed me that my prescription wasn't transferred since they closed soon and I could return to CVS to collect and pay for my prescription out of pocket. On my return a young blonde woman rudely told me that I can't get my prescription because she already got off the phone with the Walgreens and made the transfer. First off- that was news to me and secondly she was out of place with her tone towards me as I was following instructions from him and even my med express nurse and scoffed loud enough that her coworker even made a face (I'm Guessing at me) I called back my doctors office to ensure the prescription could be held still with CVS and they told me to return to the drive thru and have the lady call their office. She made it abundantly clear to remind me that they no longer have the prescription until i asked if she could call my med express nurse. She made it out to be a HUGE inconvenience and walked off. She returned and told me I need to keep driving around the CVS so long as other drivers pulled behind me until my prescription was resent by med express. She gave me the most degrading look when i returned into the drive thru and stated they haven't received anything yet. I had to ask if I could sit inside to wait for my prescription so i wouldn't have to keep driving around. Granted, i was frustrated and my tone reflected frustration but She lacked any kind of consideration for the situation and rather than offering any kind of solution she resolved herself to give me the "tough luck" mentality and a whole lot of attitude. I walked inside and she didn't acknowledge me, I sat in silence until she sent her cohort check me out with my prescription. Disappointing behavior, hope this is brought to light. Decided to give the curbside pickup thing a try being that I am currently immunosuppressed and temporarily handicapped. The process of picking out what I wanted and applying discounts was fairly easy but I have currently been waiting "curbside" for over 20 minutes after I was alerted my order was ready and still no sign of an associate. If it wasn't for my current condition I would have ran in and gotten it myself but... yea... lol. Good idea but execution needs a little work. read more

This is the worst pharmacy I have ever been to. I use them because they are close to my house. Dont bother calling because they DO NOT answer the phones. I stayed on hold one time just to see how long it would take. I hung up after 1 HOUR. And when you are inside waiting in line, they are very slow and never friendly. My prescription was called in, went to pick up and found out it was on hold. No one bothered to call me to inform me of this and to get it resolved. The reason it was on hold was because it was considered a OTC and insurance wouldnt cover it. I could have been told this and given them permission to fill it up and I would pay out of pocket - cost of the meds $1.80, really? Ugh, the hold up for just $2 worth of meds. Then they had me drive around a few times, circling back to the drive thru to give them time to fill the meds and to not hold up the rest of the drive thru line. After the time they've advised me to return, my meds were not ready for pick up. I was a bit disappointed. Spent over an hour driving near by and grabbing me some coffee, waiting on CVS to fill my order. read more

It has been pretty hard for the pharmacy to keep up on orders. It has been over three months and each time I come in they say they are a week behind on orders. The only time I can truly get my order filled is when I'm completely out of meds. The excuses are on going if you come in early for your meds. They will say that your meds were not approved to be refilled by your doctor or they will say that it has been filled and when you get there to pick them up they will then tell you they haven't been filled. Even the text alerts will tell you they have been filled but when you get there they will say nothing has been filled. They are so busy that if you call you can be left on hold for up to 20 minutes only to find out they haven't been filled yet. I felt bad for the people working there so I decided to go online and lodge a complaint. I went directly to a site that said cvs complaints and it asked me to call a number. When I called they told me this was cvs insurance and had nothing to do with complaints. As soon as I started telling them about the problem the phone started to break up to the point I didn't understand what the person was saying. I could only make out enough to know they want you to jump through a lot of hoops in order for to to lodge a complaint. I'm pretty sure they know the problem but I don't think they are going to do anything about it. they recently up graded the store but did nothing to enlarge the pharmacy area or add more people. The staff is overwhelm and there is high turn over. I tried to help but I could do nothing. If any one has any ideas in order to help these poor soles please do, they really need it. They are truly trying the best they can with what they have to work with. read more

I have a very good friend who is 80 years old. She was coming down with a cold, her husband was just out of the hospital and I was out of town. - I am an RN and I recommended she go to CVS and instead of going into the store, ask for what she needed at the Pharmacy WINDOW so as not to strain herself or contaminate others-- She did just that, and was greeted with kindness and compassion--the representative at the window went and got what she needed and was back in moments--That is not only good business but during this season of Flu and Pneumonia just the smart thing to do!!! WILL NEVER COME BACK. PHARMACIST SHARIKA MADE A SENIOR CRY!!!! Came to get allergy medication. A senior woman was in front of me at the pharmacy telling them that the medication they handed her was not correct and she wanted to return it (She hadn't left the store or even the counter). The Pharmacist Sharika was so rude to this older woman. Refusing to take it back telling her we don't take medication back and refund it. The lady explained to her that she did not take this medication anymore. The Pharmacist says "It is on auto refill still you should pay more attention and this wont happen" the lady continues to ask for a refund and tell her she wants her money back. The rude pharmacist finally snatches the bag off the counter and throws it very aggressively into a basket across the room. and tells the tech to give her the money back. The older lady left CRYING!!!!! I asked for her name and she asked me why I wanted it. She is so rude. I will go to the Walgreens across the street. This so unprofessional to make a senior citizen cry! read more

On more than one occasion, prescriptions have been short. I can think of 3 times right off the top of my head...one being today. They also will fill a new prescription that's faxed in from a doctor's office while you still have remaining refills on a current prescription. Not too happy with them at this point. Going back tomorrow to pick up what they shorted us! read more

I'm not sure how to review one CVS versus all other locations because they are pretty much the same in quality. This is a 24 hour location. They have a nice selection of health care items and limited groceries. The clerk that checked us out was very friendly so I would give her an extra star. This area can get sketchy so be careful if you go there at night. read more

Tons of calls about my prescription being ready...even when I tell them to turn it off. Never call when there is an issue with prescriptions so I can fix it. I told them 10 times to take me off of auto refill and they do, then a week later put me back on it. I've never dealt with such a scatter brained unprofessional company EVER! read more

The overall customer service experience something to avoid. The number of the times I've heard "The system was down" as an excuse for not having a prescription ready (which was dropped off the day before) is suspect. And if the system is somehow working at your pick up time, they'll fill it for you on the spot - but you go to the back of the line again. Anyone can have an off day; after several visits to this store, I wonder if they ever have good days. I won't be going back to find out. read more
