I love this Wawa location. Sometimes the lines are long in the mornings, but I opt for self checkout which is pretty fast. The customer service here is outstanding. The people are pleasant, if they're out of something and you tell them, they promptly refill it. On several occasions, they didn't have a particular item in the hot case and each time they offered to make one fresh for me if I didn't mind waiting. This place is busy, but they work fast to clear it out. It's clean and the service is great, can't ask for more honestly. read more

My favorite place to go. I get their sizzli breakfast sandwich and coffee all the time. I get my Caesar salad, parfait, gas, all the things. If the breakfast sandwich I want is not on the warmer, the sandwich lady makes it for me and is always so pleasant. Gotta have a Wawa!! read more

I had an unacceptable experience at the Wawa located at 14803 Warwick Blvd on December 21 regarding a $10 winning scratch-off ticket. I purchased the ticket late the night before and scratched it the following morning at approximately 9:00 AM, revealing a $10 win. I then drove directly to this location, arriving between 9:15 and 9:20 AM, to cash the ticket. The employee at the counter scanned my ticket. I clearly heard the confirmation sound indicating a winning ticket. Despite this, she repeatedly rescanned the ticket and then informed me the system showed it had already been claimed. This is impossible. The ticket had just been revealed, and I came straight to the store. When the manager on duty became involved, she was dismissive and offered no assistance. I was told I would need to drive to the Virginia Lottery office in Hampton to resolve the issue. Requiring a customer to travel to a lottery office over a $10 prize--when the problem appears to stem from the store's lottery system or procedures--is unreasonable. While the dollar amount is small, the issue is not. This situation raises serious concern that similar errors may be affecting other customers. The staff showed no empathy, took no responsibility, and placed the entire burden on me. I will be going to the Hampton Lottery office to prove the ticket is valid, but this should never have been necessary. Warning to others: If you win on a scratch-off at this location, you may experience the same problem. This store does not stand behind the tickets it scans or verifies. read more

The bathrooms are clean and everything is well stocked. The wraps are a bit disappointing. You are not able to make any adjustments as far as lettuce or pickles etc. Presentation is not appetizing. For a gas station in this area (Newport News) you cannot beat the convenience, cost, and variety of deli options. I normally avoid the pre-made foods in the center cooler section and order from the deli on their app or in store. The app is the best choice at lunchtime since they can get quite busy. My only issue I have with this location is that 90% of my visits require me to deal with people hanging around outside begging for money. read more

Never know what traffic etc you might encounter and it never fails that when I don't have a full tank, right when I need gas, there is an accident or something causing a delay. I typically love going to WaWa, and I have one fairly close to me. The unfortunate thing is that, it's probably the worse one in the state of Virginia! The store lacks the attention it needs from the employees such as customer service! There's usually only one register open during the busiest time of day, it lacks cleanliness most of the time. They are usually out of the items that are popular in the deli and som of the deli folks appear to be bothered by the fact that you're even there! I ordered a salad from there and the bowl was half full! It's a shame that I have to drive past this one and go to another WaWa to get decent service! Clean. Always stocked. Always busy, both inside and at the pumps. You'll need to be a bit maneuverable getting into the parking lot/gas pump area. The layout is a bit odd, sharing part of the access with a side road that provides access to the church property next door so be alert. I love the Wawa sub sandwiches. Not only is the food prepared well and tasty, but there's something about having the control to input your custom order into the machine that spits out the order to the cooks. So if you're in the need for lotto tickets, soft drinks, coffee, beer, sandwiches, fruit, cigarettes, etc. It's all here and in good order. read more

This was a pretty disappointing Wawa. The outside/inside was a mess with trash cans overflowing, broken structure, etc. The bathroom was missing toilet paper completely and had "mystery smudges" all over the walls and floor. I will travel farther next time to get to a descent Wawa. read more

I am somebody that does regular business with Wawa all around. I was very disappointed this trip. I went in at 8 AM in the morning and ordered a burrito. I as being a cook myself I understand how sometimes it can be inconvenient to prepare something special. But as I'm standing in the line that is wrapped completely around the cashier station with only one cashier. I hear one of the food preppers holler over to the other food prep or "do you realize how much I hate making burritos ". I am sorry that me coming in there and ordering a five dollar burrito in the morning time is such an inconvenience for your business and you can guarantee it will never happen again in this store. Wawa tops all the convenience store chains in this area by far. It has all the staple option 7-Eleven has to offer and more. The touch screen order kiosks are very convienant and the to-go foods seem to be healthier or at the very least better options. This Wawa in particular is in a semi-crappy area though...the apartment complexes and housing here frequent the attention for NNPD. I've been here in the wee hours of the morning and have never experienced problems but keep your eyes peeled. Lots of wannabe gangsters here for no reason. Anyway, this Wawa is usually clean and well stocked. Customer service as with an place is a hit or miss. Usually miss, there seems to be a lot of younger employees who are rude and don't care about people. I usually stop here for a cup of coffee and some chewing tobacco since 7-11 is normally out of the brand I use. Overall? I love this location for their free air pump. It's free, which is amazing, b/c it sucks to drop a dollar or more on something when you don't have to, especially when you can't confirm if it works until after you put the money in. It's modern; it's not an old school air pump, this one is quick and easy to use. It always works (in other words, it's never out of order); which is obviously very important, but a trait that I've found lacking in gas station air pumps over the years. That air pump has come in real handy for me a few times and I'm very appreciative of Wawa having it there, having it be free, and keeping it in good working condition. Despite the location not being in the best area, the gas station is well lit and I generally feel pretty safe and comfortable there. I usually go during the day, though, and given the location, I'd be careful at night. In general Wawa seems to be a good chain that I would choose over any other gas station/ convenience store locations or chains and this particular location seems to roughly be on par with other Wawas. The biggest complaints I've ever had about this place involved the customer service. I can't tell you how many I've gone in there and there's been a long line at the only register that is open. They often seem understaffed b/c they'll have one register open when the place is obviously busy.. and it's not some random middle of the night rush, it's during their regular busy hours. I'm normally able to predict about how busy the place will be when I'm going there based on what day and time it is, so management should be able to as well, and get more than register open (they have either 3 or 4 in total) before the line gets too long. That said, it usually doesn't take too terribly long for me to get in out. The other relatively small complaint is that the friendliness of that staff is a bit hit or miss but, that said, in general the service is at least as good as you would expect at any other gas station. read more

Wawa has recently put a lot of money into making the store really nice it's a shame that they don't make it a pleasant experience. If you stop it's a very good chance that somebody is standing Jost outside the door asking for money or selling CDs and then asking for a donation and I even have seen them going to the pumps asking for money I have complained to the managers just to receive what I felt like I don't care attitude One time the person asked my daughter if she could go to the ATM machine to get money out which really scared her I live in the neighborhood and check in occasionally to see if it's improved any just to find it the same. I often get gas here on the way home from work. It's a nice gas station, and their gas prices are fair, but the clientele is very ghetto. The inside of the gas station is pretty nice and has a large selection of fresh foods as well as the usual gas station stuff. Very inconvenient and insensitive considering there is ample space to accomodate. I normally love Wawa and go there several times a week for breakfast. This location however seemed understaffed when I went in and I got my normal ham egg white and cheddar breakfast Sizzli thing, of course it was the one time that I didn't check inside of the box and the sandwich was hard, dry and crispy in a really not appealing way. I checked around on it for the timestamp and found out that it had been put out at 6:15 AM. It was now 8:55 AM... You see the problem. My daughter-in-law and I stop at WaWa for the coffee (and fuel) every time we're on the East Coast. It is always very good! We ordered breakfast sandwiches one morning and we thought they were much better than what you can get other places. The touch screen ordering process was new to us.
