Northvale CVS Pharmacy on Livingston Street tried to charge me $10 for a $1 prescription. This CVS does that a lot. Northvale CVS has several PBM's (Pharmacy Benefit Managers) so my doctor sent my prescription to a different pharmacy and I payed $1. CVS does this a lot. They falsely and fraudulently 'cancel' your prescription medical insurance information so they can falsely claim you have no prescription insurance. That's how they do it. read more

I love the pharmacy department. Usually don't deal w the front of the store. My mom is elderly so I'm always getting her scripts filled and running errands for her at the pharmacy. The gals are great! I think the pharmacist in charge is Dawn and wonderfully pleasant and super helpful. There is another pharmacist, Livia. She is absolutely incredibly helpful and always has a huge smile. She goes out of her way to help everyone. She maybe the main reason I go into this location. The cashiers that work w the pharmacy dept. also amazing. Always happy, always willing to go the extra mile, always super attentive. I was in the area visiting family and needed a new phone charger. I entered into this CVS and I found everything quite easily, however, when it came time for me to checkout, a manager took it upon himself to stand almost directly behind me... the entire time. Even with the front end of the store being exceptionally busy, he made it his responsibility to look over MY transaction instead of helping his team members. When I confronted this manager (because I found his private supervision questionable and rude) his excuse was "I needed to make sure your machine was working"... really? You need to check the machine of the ONLY BLACK LADY in the place? What about the other nonblack lady that you weren't watching like a hawk that was Haines the machine next to me? He ultimately ran off to the back... I'm only giving this establishment 1 star because the rest of the staff was helpful. But I WOULD NOT consider ever going back here for anything. I'd rather go out of my way than deal with this racist management. read more

Probably because they are understaffed, the pharmacy is terrible. It's nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone and if you use the drive-thru, be prepared to wait for at least 10 minutes. When CVS required their employees to wear masks when COVID was spreading in the fall and winter, multiple employees in the pharmacy did not wear masks. I was very surprised at the lack of mask wearing considering that many people picking up medications are either sick and/or immunocompromised. The CVS in Closter is MUCH better but does not have a drive-thru, which is why we use this CVS. That said, all of the employees are nice and helpful...if you're able to actually speak to someone (two stars for that). read more

The worst of the worse.Joyce who works in the pharmacy is a witch. In my opinion, one of the most horrible customer service/pharmacy techs I've ever dealt with. They've been sitting with my rx for almost 72 hours--she was so lazy she kept telling me it wasn't recvd. My doctor called it in 4 times over a three day period. When she is called to take, she melts down and refuses service. Zero stars. I hope this woman suffers 10 times worse than the patients who she treats worse than vermin.unacceptable, horrible place. read more

When I moved to Northvale everyone told me to avoid CVS Pharmacy and now I understand why. I just had the worst customer experience in recent memory after going through the drive-through. I won't go into details but let me just say it ended with head pharmacist grinning and waving at me through the window and mockingly saying "Have a nice day! Have a nice day! Have a nice day!" until I drove away. I can't stop thinking about it. I will never go back. What a nightmare. Need a good place to go? Try US Pharmacy Lab. They are the best. read more

I was having issues at the self checkout and was signaling I need help; the girl at the counter ignored me for 5 minutes. She eventually scanned the help card but did not bother to ask what happened. She asked with attitude "did it work" when I wasn't sure what needed to be done. A few minutes later she says "i asked you if it worked and you just stared at me" I was a customer in need of assistance and she treated me like an imbecile. She was anything but nice! read more

Very rude staff and very under-staffed as well. For every single prescription I've had, there were continuous mistakes and miscommunication. It is impossible to get in the phone with the pharmacists and Ive been hung up on many times. I've waited over 3 weeks for a birth control prescription to be filled. They had said I needed to pay a copay when my insurance company had personally told me and faxed me the information saying that There was $0 copay. They refused to call my doctor or fax over a prescription refill request and lied to my face when I had asked if my doctor had called in my prescription when I had physically watched my doctor personally call the pharmacist and place the order refill. This is a constant stressor and I have recently switched to another pharmacy. 0/5 stars if I could. read more

What is going on with these big box pharmacies.. Are they hiring incompetent employees or are they overwhelmed and under staffed. I switched from one cvs to this one a year ago because they were incompetent. Now I am experiencing the same with this cvs for the last 6 mths. Honestly scary , giving me old scripts and dosages after a year on new dosage. Not getting my medication in time. I have had to go without twice because they cannot get it right! Mind numbingly offensive and rude pharmacists here. Sadly, the pharmacist was not content to merely question a prescription. She had to deface it, too. Even after phoning a physician, who is a prominent community member, they angrily refused to fill the script, lied about it, and engaged in a public series of disparaging comment. They also phoned local pharmacies to discuss. All of this with a non-narcotic medication, communication with a doctor, and a regular customer with a fine reputation and no problems. It was nothing short of disgusting. If you value respect, dignity and kindness, please take your business elsewhere. This staff is a disgrace. read more

Incompetent pharmacy staff consistently screws up. Kept me waiting nearly an hour for a prescription I dropped off a week earlier.

Incompetent and brusque staff, condescending/patronizing manager, poor response to customer concerns. Now, the specifics: After the CVS in nearby Pearl River, NY, failed to fill a prescription that my wife and I were assured had been filled, my wife was directed to the CVS in Northvale, NJ. While she was on her way there, I received an automated phone call, informing me that the prescription was ready for pickup. The prescription was not ready when my wife arrived. The pharmacy staffer at the drive-up asked my wife for the basic info (name, address, date of birth), but when she began to spell out my last name, she said "B-A-R-G," and was interrupted by the staffer. "We only need the first three letters, now, let's start again." My wife complied and was rushed through the other questions, and began to show her displeasure. At that moment, the pharmacy manager got involved, and spoke down her nose at my wife, informing her that she would make an exception and fill the prescription on the spot, because Oxy requires the pharmacy to have the written script in advance. (Pain relief for knee surgery I had yesterday.) Informed that I had received a call saying the prescription was ready for pickup, the manager dodged and blamed the automated calling system. And then she curtly informed my wife that she would fill the prescription. Bad tone established, the manager iced the cake with a disingenuous "Have a nice day." My wife gave the manager a single-finger salute and drove off. Appropriate response, IMO, given the manager's behavior. I called and asked to speak to the manager, who refused to identify herself by name. I asked her what had happened and she said she was actually doing us a favor by filling the script on the spot. I informed her of the robo-call, and she again said that system was wrong. She admitted that what she should have done was intervene with the staffer and inform my wife of the law regarding dispensing controlled substances. I said, Yes, that would have been a good idea. After all, my wife respects the law, and she would have gladly handed over the script and come back in a few minutes to pick up the drugs. I thought it was a good sign that the manager had admitted fault, but apparently she was unaware that she had done so. I said thank you for conceding her part in the miscommunication, and she was taken aback. "I did nothing wrong. My staff did nothing wrong," she said. I said I disagreed. She then said, "Is there anything else I can do for you?" And I said, "Well, 'I'm sorry' would be nice." And she said, "Thank you for your apology," and abruptly hung up on me. If you'd like to be treated like crap when trying to pick up a much-needed prescription, I suggest you use this CVS in Northvale, NJ. But the people at the Shop Rite pharmacy across the street are much more competent, efficient, and courteous. Just sayin'. read more

I love this CVS! The pharmacy is the absolute best! ALL of the pharmacists are very friendly and knowledgeable, as are their technicians. They're always busy, but that is because they are the most competent pharmacists in the area. As for the store - very clean, fully stocked and the cashiers are very polite. read more

This is the WORST CVS pharmacy of five I have been to in multiple states. One employee "offered to put three Rx "on hold" for me and they LOST THEM ALL. Their drive up phone has not worked since September. Last week their register near the drive up did not work. My first time their the pharmacist was sniffing a syrup and saying out loud how badly it smelled. "VERY professional." They are also THE slowest at their drive through of and CVS I have used. One wonders what can the person in front of you be doing for 15 minutes? It turns out despite a large sign that says please cone inside to fill new prescriptions, they still let people do it. When I asked a tech., she said "who am I to say no!" Um...the employee who should enforce the rules? The same tech. insisted on calling me Mrs. Blank. I corrected her several times saying she should NOT assume a woman is married, that's why we invented the word MS. in the 1960s, especially now that the MAJORITY of women in the U.S. are NOT married. I switched to the Orangeburg NY pharmacy, hopefully they will not be as incompetent and S L O O O W. read more
