I practically live here since I work so close to it. Though very cramped, everything I need is here, so when I pick up my prescriptions, I can also do my shopping for some foodstuffs, my toilet paper/paper towels, cat food, toiletries, cleaning supplies, you name it. This place being so well-stocked and located right where I worked has saved my behind so many times whenever the unexpected occurred during the day, whether I needed eye drops, Benadryl, Excedrin, Tampax, emergency replacement tights - I can always count on this place. And the staff is always helpful. My favorite is the woman at the pharmacy - Ms. Diane, I think. She's so kind! And the one lady at the self-checkout is right over you like a hawk if your machine acts up. They really get you in and out of there! read more

This review is for the Pharmacist Martha! I was having problems with my new insurance card and she went above and beyond to try and solve the problem and went as far as calling my insurance company to help me resolve it. Most people these days are quick to brush people off and I was expecting to go home and deal with the issue myself, but she wanted to help and stayed on the phone with the insurance company for a while trying to help me out. It's hard to find people who actually care these days and want to help. She was great! read more

As far as CVS's go, this one is great because it's open 24 hours and they have self checkout so you can get rid of the pile of pennies that have been sitting on your counter. But about that self checkout, there's always at least one kiosk that's broken or that only accept cards or only accepts cash. There is always someone in front of me who screws up their transaction and needs help. Fortunately the self checkout is always staffed by a CVS employee. So it's really an assisted checkout. read more

What can you say, it's a CVS. They have almost everything you need. The best thing about this once is that it's open 24/7. And since I enjoy doing my shopping late at night it's perfect. However, often when you go late at night there are long lines, and the employees are grouchy. read more

Two stars if it weren't for the fact that they are open 24-hrs. my one moment of great customer experience here (and I live across the street so I come here ALL the time for ALMOST everything) was when I got my passport pictures taken. the woman with black hair and frosted goldish white tips (wish I caught her name) was very helpful. she took multiple pictures, gave me the choices of which ones I liked...was friendly....and looked happy. so strange at CVS land. $7.99 for 6 pictures. That's a decent deal as far as passport photos go. Usually you only get 2 for that price. Also, about using the CVS care card...while it does save you money (and I didn't know you get a rebate?? I certainly haven't thus far) you also give them a ton of info on your spending habits. Let's just say they're not giving away anything for free. read more

I was sent here to get my second shingles shot by the 2nd Street cvs because they had them in. I called to reserve the shot but they wouldn't let me do that. You're better off going to a local neighborhood drug store like Old City Pharmacy. You get personalized service at much better prices. Compare their prices on prescriptions with CVS. The pharmacy is always poorly staffed. The store may be open 24 hours but the pharmacist is not always there. They are never helpful. I actually only brought my prescriptions there because my insurance is CVS Caremark, and I was told I could save money by getting my prescriptions filled for 90 days over the counter. That wasn't true, and the pharmacist is there one day a week. This is absolutely the worst pharmacy experience o have EVER had. I'll be transferring my prescriptions elsewhere. read more

Terrible customer service and received misleading and inaccurate information regarding the status of my prescription multiple times. Also when double checking with them after giving me misleading information, all I received was attitude from the staff and multiple eye rolls. Three stars for being open 24/7 and having a lot options to choose from in the snack (ahem: tasty kakes and candy ahem) aisles. Lines are ridiculously long because there are always always at max. two people working the front no matter what time it is (and the self serve machines are broken). Oh well. The place is 24 hours and stocks just about anything you could possibly want. Maybe I've become resigned to bad customer service at all but a few spots. wow you kids really don't like this place. seems like a pretty typical cvs to me, lines can get ugly during the workforce lunchbreak but that's what those self-checkout lanes are for. anyway, i'd probably give this place a 3 or 4 for what it delivers: quick, convenient drugstore products, decent prices and spotty service. BUT, my friends, where this store exceeds is within the photo section, specifically with star employee Edith. Edith is attentive, friendly and efficient. if she can't help you right away, she'll communicate this to you and make it a priority to meet your needs as soon as possible. you know those store receipts with a 1800 number to call to give feedback on a service experience/employee? the one's that you toss 99% of the time? well, Edith comprises that one percent response rate for me. as soon as i left the store, i called and left a 5 minute voicemail about the excellent service i received from Edith. i hope she gets a promotion. then she can teach the rest of the cvs employees how to be courteous and helpful. read more

Theresa, one of the pharmacists, at this particular CVS is wonderful. I had an issue with antibiotics not being faxed from a different CVS after normal hours and after the other CVS had already closed. Theresa saw how upset I was as I didn't want my face to swell up as a result of the tooth. The pharmacy was clearly busy with calls and customers at the time, but she took the time out to clear this up for me and was extremely friendly, personable and a shining example of what you'd like your local pharmacist to be. I work in a customer-service based job, as well, and really appreciate people like Theresa who are not only great at their jobs, but actually care about the customers and their wellbeing. Theresa deserves 5 stars, but the CVS store could use some help with re-stocking. I know this is a busy location, but they are always out of...everything. This place is a disaster. It always has the appearance that a blizzard is about to hit, which would explain the empty shelves and boxes in the aisles. If you come here with one particular thing in mind, you're likely to be disappointed, whether it's milk or antacids, so don't wait until you are out at home to come here and expect them to have what you need. A couple of the staff members are very kind, but overall they act like you don't exist. They're lucky that there are so few pharmacies in the city, otherwise I'd never come here. I suffer for the convenience, but this has to be one of the worst CVS stores I've been too. It just feels really mismanaged. The other day entire aisles were blocked with delivery crates. At 5 PM. Granted, the employee was happy to move them for me to get something I wanted, but I couldn't exactly browse and compare items. Why would you have a giant delivery during rush hour? Also, there are weirdly threatening messages to the pharmacy employees about lunch breaks and stuff that you can see from the register - just uncomfortable. The saving grace, as I mentioned, is that the employees are nice and helpful, but the store is just "off". read more

Possibly the worst pharmacy ever. First you wander through aisles in a a very confusing layout then you get in a long ass line that moves really slow. Check out takes forever. You would think that having a self checkout system would help but one of the two lanes is always closed and the open one has a long line and always seems to malfunction at which point you have to wait for the manager to come down and reactivate it. Take the walk up Chestnut and hit the Rite Aid instead. read more

One of the better drug stores in the area (which isn't saying much). Always a long line, but at least it's open 24 hours. Also, the the pharmacists are pretty nice. One time, one of the guys spent forever on the phone with my insurance company to fix some payment issue. Not bad for CVS. They also carry vichy (fantastic line of lotions that's pretty expensive for the average drug store), which apparently stores on the west coast don't. read more

I LOVE having a 24-hour drug store right around the corner. It gets busy here during lunch or right after work, but otherwise it's not too bad. I used to go here all the time at 2am, now it is too cold for that. Since everything in Philly closes crazy early, don't deny it, I go here for everything. Cigarettes (keeping it classy), candy, chips, drinks, and sometimes an emergency tampon run. It is just a typical CVS, with the typical overpriced Kodak imagining center, cracked out/tired/underpaid workers, and the tough guy security people making sure whoever steals candy from CVS gets in serious trouble. read more

I love that this CVS is right around the corner, it's open 24 hours and they have self checkout lanes which let you look up your extra care card phone number. The pharmacists are knowledgable and friendly, it's great to be able to get a script filled at literally any hour of the day or night. I always look for what's on sale with my extra care card, often I save a lot. I like the promotion where if you fill 10 scripts with your extra care card you get $5 in extra bucks. Also, they transferred my scripts from another CVS, which was helpful. My only suggestion? Add more pharmacy cashiers, often there is only one and a long line. I will be back, I like CVS and this one is super convenient, it's right on Chestnut St near the bus stop! read more

I like that this store is open 24-hours a day. However, they forgot to fill my prescription at one point saying my doctor never called it in (I knew that to be a lie given that my doctor is my boyfriend and I watched/listened to him call it in). The pharmacist put me on hold and checked to see if they "missed something" and lo and behold, they had. Oh and the same pharmacist quoted me a certain out-of-pocket price for a medication and then when I called the following morning she said, "Oh whoever gave you that price was wrong, it is actually ___" (triple the price she had originally quoted me). DO NOT go to this pharmacy. The pharmacist, Joe Stratton, is absolute worst and could not be more careless. Within a 3 month time period, he gave me the completely wrong medication on one occasion and then gave me the incorrect amount of my medication TWICE. The pharmacy techs I dealt with after all errors were rude and made a bad situation so much worse. On another occasion when picking up a prescription in store, a female pharmacist loudly announced my personal information and medication information for all in a 20 foot radius to easily hear. This location is open 24 hours so it's very convenient. However, it is poorly stocked. They always seem to be out of items or they are busy restocking and have tons of boxes in the way of the aisles. The makeup/ nails section is usually a mess so I would recommend purchasing makeup at the Walgreens on Broad St. or Ulta on Walnut. These are better stocked with more options and it seems like the turnover is faster so you can get better quality products. However, I just noticed this week that this CVS started carrying Eyes, Lips, Face (ELF) Cosmetics and that display was stocked well. Just used the pharmacy but I was impressed with their professionalism and speed of delivery. I had an extremely ill kid and wanted my prescription as soon as possible. I never had to mention I wanted it fast... There were no lines to drop the prescription as well as the pharmacist who matched me finished a comprehensive and precise checkin. The pharmacist filling the script made sure I new about the way to administer the meds. The pharmacist who checked me out was fast also. 10 minutes in and out the doorway. Additionally, everyone I talked with seemed to enjoy their occupation - that made a difference also. Thank you! read more

Very simply stated: The "Photo technician" at this place really needs to be replaced or at the very least, trained. I placed an order for 200+ pictures here online last month (it's cheaper and I've done it before at a different CVS with no issues). 11 days later I didn't receive any order/shipping confirmation but it was close to my apartment and on the way back from work so I stopped by to check on its status. Approaching the photo center, there was a small handwritten sign taped to the closest computer booth stating: PHOTO TECH OUT. BACK IN 10MINUTES. From the corner of my eye I see a group of 3 or 4 CVS employees huddled in the back gossiping (this was around 5:30pm, not during any reasonable lunch hour..). But I sit down at the booth waiting patiently for the "photo tech" to come back. .... and wait... and wait... after 15minutes I finally approach one of the employees and she rolls her eyes at me saying "He'll be back in 10 minutes." I explained that I had already waited for quite a while. Luckily another employee overheard and hollered something to the gossiping group. Reluctantly, a tall African-American man detaches himself from the group and stalks over to us with a very annoyed expression, "YEAH? you need something?" Um, I'm sorry I'm disturbing you from socializing to DO YOUR ACTUAL JOB. Why don't we all just get paid for standing around chatting?!!! Anyway, I explained my situation and he looked through this stack of orders for about 10seconds before saying "not here" and turned to go back to his buddies. So again, I stopped him telling him that i placed the order almost 2weeks ago and online it stated it would be ready in 5-10 days. He rolls his eyes at me and plays around with the computer for another 10minutes... only to tell me "its not here". When I asked him when it would get here he basically told me "whenever". Great, thanks. NEVER AGAIN. cancelled my online order, so I have no idea if those photos actually got printed or not. When I was leaving, I heard another customer arguing with the "photo technician" about the status of her photos and from what I overheard, that guy had no idea where those were either. Do yourself a favor and order your pictures from somewhere else. read more

As a number of other reviewers have stated, having to deal with this store is a necessary evil, and its only benefit is that it's open 24/7. Most of my experience has been with the pharmacy here, and it's almost always a nightmare. Always a line, no matter what time of day. Pharmacy techs who do nothing to conceal their boredom and lack of interest in their jobs. I realize this is a busy pharmacy that deals with hundreds of prescriptions a day, but you'd never know it based on the staffing there. I've noticed on a number of occasions employees behind the counter wandering around in a daze. Prescriptions that my doctor faxed in hours ago still sitting on their machine, untouched by human hands. If this is your only option for a pharmacy or you have some unexplained loyalty to CVS, go to the 15th & Spruce branch, which is much less crowded and hectic (but not open 24/7). Or better yet, go to an independent pharmacy like Jomici Apothecary, on the opposite corner of 15th & Spruce, where you're not just a Rx number to the staff, but an actual person whose name and face they remember, and where you can actually walk in with a script in hand and have it filled in less than 15 minutes. read more
