According to staff,…read moreeven though the prescriptions on automatic refill, they are not allowed to reorder and have it in stock, until the individual orders it, & the insurance company goes through their process of approval. So, in the interim, the supplier does not allow for any stock that may need to be regularly shipped out to that store for that time period, which causes a shortage, problem with delivery and then causes an availability issue to the consumer. Of course, I'm oversimplifying what actually happened in this case. But, what happened was the order was placed in advance. The individual's omnipod was due to run out on Tuesday evening when it was the last available time they could wait to pick up their Omnipod at Walgreens. Wednesday, nothing delivered. Thursday morning, nothing delivered to Walgreens, and Thursday evening after dinner, the Omnipod was available for pickup at the pharmacy. That's 48 hours without an insulin pump. That's 48 hours trying to recalculate insulin to carb ratios for injections that usually happen at a different rate. It's life impacting. It's not like stopping at an air pump at Sheetz, and later at Wawa and then later at an Exxon gas station, until you can get your tire fixed. Insulin impacts the amount of glucose in your blood, thereby effecting all of your organs in your body. The Omnipod with the cgm tries to imitate what a working pancreas does in your body. Someone who is insulin dependent, or type one diabetic, has a pancreas that no longer works. It's not a perfect system. But, it's as close as type one diabetics will get to an artificial pancreas. They can't change their eating habits or exercise more or do anything different to make them use less insulin. They are insulin dependent! Without insulin, they cannot live. However, it seems that pharmaceutical companies, health insurers and other medical related suppliers feel that keeping a regular stocked supply in of diabetic management supplies is too costly and can be reordered and supplied within 24 hours. It cannot, as evidenced in this and in previous circumstances. 48 hours from when the Omnipod was supposed to run out and the time the individual was able to pick up their new prescription. 48 hours of erratic numbers, stress of will it come in, stress of what if, and don't think of the hidden time bomb damage ticking unseen in one's organs as they deal with the damage of have type one since the age of 12 years of age.....

My husband had a one-time prescription filled at this Walgreens pharmacy a few weeks ago for a medication to prevent altitude sickness for an upcoming hiking trip to Nepal. It was a one-time prescription with no refills. Our Walgreens on-line account is also set to "no automatic refills." However, we have been receiving a large volume of irritating emails and texts from Walgreens asking us to pick up a refill for this prescription. Using the online "cancel" feature was not successful, so we dropped into the pharmacy to ask the pharmacist to correct this. It appears to be corrected now although there was no explanation for how this happened and how to prevent it in the future. We also picked up a toothpaste, which was on sale. The check-out clerk was friendly enough, but I was disappointed that she didn't ask whether we wanted to use our Walgreen Rewards Points, as I had forgotten to mention this.

After they say it's ready, they force you into a consultation before they give you your medication even though you tell them you don't need one for the antibiotics. Then you wait in another long line to get to the consultation just to hear them push shots even after you tell them the medicine is for someone else. If you're getting medicine from here expect long waits.

I have a typical CVS Pharmacy experience from a big city in Texas. I don't want to bring the same attitude to this little CVS in Ashland Virginia. The store employees were friendly to the personal level. They greeted us as my local friend and I walked in. He asked where to find something for him. I wandered off to see the store. It is definitely smaller than most CVS Pharmacies that I have been to. But it has everything just not many selections. The cashier was chatting with my friend as we checked out. The store is located at Ashland Junction Shopping Center. The mall itself is kind of small. I guess after a big store vacated the space, it gave me an empty feeling. Note to self: Tax rate on OTC is 6% here.

One thing I do not like is that they do not provide any receipt for dropping off packages. They tell me to take a photo of the shipping label. I already have the shipping label at home when I printed it but it does me no good to have a shipping number if for some reason the package never makes it to UPS where it is first scanned. It is not scanned at the store. The Dollar Store down the street is a drop off point for Fed Ex. There, they immediately scan the package and you get an alert on your cell phone that the package has been accepted. Much better security to the customer in my opinion. Wish the UPS drop off experience was better.

What I like about the CVS Pharmacies is that you can go to any of the area stores and they've got your info in the database. When living in a rural area it's nice to have a pharmacy in any direction you have to go. The Orange CVS Pharmacy has a great staff that treats you like the neighbor that you are and so you get the local pharmacy feel. It's also nice to call in your orders, go to the drive-through or use the mobile app for refills.

My 2-man crew is out in the freezing rain on a 12 hour job to clear fallen trees from the road for VDOT. We took a quick trip to this Target near our dispatch hub, to grab some snacks, walk around out of the cold, etc and it was the greatest experience. Mary & David greeted us w complimentary coffee and even accommodated my preference of non-dairy creamer with oatmilk creamer which they put aside for us for the rest of our shift and free coffees all day !! They have a whole table set up with snacks, including fruit and everything to make PB&Js (at the Starbucks in the Target) free to all road work crews. Definitely feels like small town care for one's neighbors; this kind of appreciation for each other is not always on display but it's so nice when it is and I couldn't be more grateful. Target is actually the best.
