Delicious bagels, easy to order, quick service, and always clean! Love it here. Great location.

Everything was phenomenal. The ambience, the service, even the food itself. It's with an overwhelmingly heavy heart that my boyfriend and I decided that this visit would be our last. As I said, everything was phenomenal. Unfortunately, there is one issue we cannot look past, although we have tried. The bagels are delicious, but they are the absolute wettest, slippery and slidey-est bagels I've ever had in my life. The meal is spent looking down and hoping my beloved or other guests don't see the schmear up to my nose. By the end, we are having to reconstruct our bagel, as it looks like roadkill on the table. It is not a user error, as we eat slowly and carefully. I even have friends who refuse to come back here because it was the messiest eating experience of their lives. It's so unbelievably messy. We have to rinse off in their bathroom before leaving. I have to take my rings off and put my hair up. It's a commitment, one we are not strong enough to make at this point. I was staying in San Antonio for a conference and drove out of my way to check this place out. Boiled bagels in agave water + wood fired + everything bagel seasoning on both sides?! Sign me up! I arrived a couple of minutes after they opened and I already saw a man reading a local newspaper and two others waiting for their orders. I took the internet's recommendation and went with the Bee Sting but I substituted Tofu Scallion and removed cheese. I was going to ask for extra spread but I'm glad I didn't! There is quite enough spread on these bagels and NYers would even be proud. The bacon was delicious, the egg was perfect, and the cream cheese was insanely delicious. The bagel itself was kinda tough so I would get it double toasted. I also ordered an unflavored latte and it was incredible. I finished it before I even got back to my hotel. $17+ later, I was somewhat hurt (or at least my wallet was) but the customer service was incredible and the product overall is decent. The store was clean and I'd be happy to recommend this place if you're nearby and have the funds! read more

This is my go-to spot for bagels! I love getting the slammin' salmon, but their other bagel sandwiches are delicious as well. They have a wide variety of bagels and cream cheese flavors. It is usually packed on weekend mornings but you can order ahead and pick up if you're in a time crunch. The line moves quickly though if you prefer to order in store. Bagels are made fresh daily, but once something is out, it's out for the day. They also have coffee and other beverages available. The interior has a couple tables and some bar seating if you want to eat there, and there are also tables right outside the store for seating as well. read more

So I really loved this place. The food is delicious, the service is friendly and the ambiance is delightful. However, they are constantly touching their phones and then touch the bagels coming straight out of the hot steamy bagel dipper thing right before they go into the oven. Bare hands, no gloves or handwashing. Just straight touching their dirty cell phone then right to taking out the bagels. No wonder this place isn't rated an A/100. I won't be returning. Oooh Boss Bagel my beloved !!! My husband and I go to Boss Bagel every weekend, each time I go I order the very vegan bagel. Each time it's just as good as the last. We love dining in and watching the bagels getting made in front of us. We overheard the owners one weekend interviewing potential employees and the owner described the bagel baking process as a "performance". Which it does feel that way! We've had bagels in New York City but I kid you not when we were in NYC we told each other that Boss Bagel was still our #1 pick for best bagels around. To give insight into other bagels other than the very vegan... Once (not pictured) we got a cinnamon raisin bagel with the banana pudding cream cheese that I think about OFTEN but it is very difficult to eat more than one bagel as they're so filling. Which is not a bad thing in my opinion. So to close I stand by their sweet and savory bagels alike. read more

I just got back from a trip to NYC, and have had bagels on my mind. Stopped in on a Sunday morning to get a bagel fix. I ordered the Bee Sting and a chai latte. Both were amazing! The sandwich was honestly perfect, no notes. The everything bagel and green onion shmear were flavorful and delicious. The shop is really warm and inviting with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The chai latte was also very flavorful, but definitely sweet. Our order was ready quickly and we were able to grab a table outdoors since the weather was perfect. I will definitely be back as there are so many different flavors of bagels and shmear to try! read more

Excellent! One word. Where I live has ZERO good bagel options, so in town for work we found Boss. It was a little drive from the hotel, but man so worth it. The oven adds a slightly different exterior flavor. Burns the everything seasoning a little, but not enough to hurt flavor. It was so good we had it 3 times! Very similar to a NY texture, a little sponges density with a slight chew on the exterior. Real good bagels or at least better than anything I can get with any regularity. Inside is a regular bagel/coffee shop. But it is kind of fun to watch them make the bagels right in front of you. Surprisingly not hot for a brick oven going off in front of you. The morning run can get busy so be prepared. Had a classic sandwich, everything with green onion schmear and for s&g's an everything loaded baked potato schmear, cause why not? This establishment is very efficient when it comes to ordering and receiving your food. The bagels sandwiches are unique. They offer a TON of different flavor combinations. I got the Yard Bird and it was a bomb of flavor. I had to order a sweet treat for later so I went with the Crème Brulee smear paired with the cinnamon raisin bagel. Such fantastic bagels! Love the fact that they have gluten free bagel & vegan schmear options! You can bring friends with almost any diet and find something for them to eat! Everything is super filling and delicious. My favorite is the rosemary bagel. It's almost busy here, but it flows pretty quickly. We came here last week. So this may be a biased opinion because I am married to a New Yorker so I've had real legit bagels. This place is not bad not the best but for San Antonio standards it's good but ridiculously overpriced. Also the customer service isn't good we requested to add the ketchup inside the breakfast bagel and they wouldn't do that for us. The parking is HORRIBLE so try to not go on a busy day. One of our faves! They've also got a location at the SAT airport. But, you'll miss out on watching them make the bagels at the original location. It's a good reason to head to an adorable area in SA. Alright, I've heard great things about this place, so decided to give it a go. 1. We got there around 10:15 and they were out of a lot of bagels. No biggie, but slightly disappointed. 2. I excitedly told the cashier, "this is our first time here" in hopes she'd also be excited. "Omg let me tell you about our menu", "nice! Our best seller is xyz"... nope, she just stared at us like she didn't care. My daughter asked a few questions and was met with a lackluster attitude. They also have a coffee menu, it was lacking something. Disappointed. 3. We ordered to sandwiches. My daughter's ( the early riser) was warm and toasty and had an amazing cheese pull. Mine (the bee sting) was hard, cold to the touch and my cheese was a solid American square. Idk if this was intentional, if they forgot to toast mine... but, I'll tell you the cashier could have probably met my expectation in #2 had she told us this tidbit of info. I would have liked him toasty and warm (it had egg, come on!). Super disappointed. I'm only not giving this place a one star bc my daughter's bagel was so yummy. Mine was hard to chew, slippery and messy. Service was a huge disappointment. I would not go back. Was in San Antonio for what felt like forever, so why not just try out a bunch of places, one of which being boss bagels. There was a line but it moved pretty quick . If you don't feel like listening to other people's conversations, you can watch the employees cranking out some wood fired bagels, which is cool. I grabbed a bagel sandwich and a cinnamon raisin as is. Both were good. If you like cream cheese, well you will be in heaven, this is more than you could hope for and there are so many options. I did think it was gelato at first bc of how it was set up, but immediately realized I was not bright and it was a gelato like assortment of cream cheese. What a cute little spot located off of New Braunfels Ave. When you first walk in your eyes go directly to the bagel making equipment that they use all day. Soooo I so wanted to love it here and I'm not giving up yet... it was busy in here and as someone who worked in a bagel shop for 3 years, I know there are just days where the bagels just aren't hittin - will be back to retry but here's an honest review: Everything bagels are my fav and I always order one w/ plain cream cheese anywhere I go but I was not impressed by this one...you can tell by the looks of the texture that it has the consistency of one of the pretzels you put in the microwave.. like kind of chewy and a bit hard to rip apart. I hope that was a good enough analogy. The sausage, egg, and cheese was exactly what it sounds like. Nothing to write home about for almost $8 and my bf said the bagel was very dense and the egg ratio was off. He was pretty hungry afterwards so I presume another egg/more protein should be incorporated into this breakfast sandwhich. read more

Breakfast bagel sandwiches on our minds...... Walked in and immediately on your right, you'll come across their ovens where they fire up the bagels fresh daily! After all their signage "wood fired bagels", def lived up to its name. The specials are listed on a huge chalkboard and the particular am we were there, it was the angry chicken bagel sandwich. On display, you'll see their array of various schmears. I had to take a video, check it out : ) We ordered the angry chicken and the slammin salmon. Slammin salmon- I subbed the sesame bagel with the everything and the schmear with the green onion tofu instead. Bagel was a little chewy and the red onions overpowered the entire sandwich. I did remove them in the end, but it still left a heavy flavor. I loved the green onion schmear, very light and smooth. The sandwich had a nice meaty slice of tomato, but it could have used more lox. The angry chicken was good. Not as spicy... just needed more protein. Overall ok Service was excellent. read more

Got the Bee Sting and one of the specials the Italian job and an iced latte with cold foam. Waited about 20 minutes after ordering to receive food but everything was so good! Bagel wasn't dry and I would highly recommend either bagel. Cashier were personable, it was enjoyable to also watch them make the bagels fresh at the front of the restaurant. It's a win! Wrapped in aluminum warmth, I had the bagel sandwich of the year! (Unless someone else comes and dethrone it. :D ) My husband and I decided to take a chance, and we are glad we did. Have had several of their bagel plain and each is delicious, light crisp exterior with a soft-chewy interior. I'm not a big cream cheese fan, but the option that comes with lox is great. Speaking of which, the white fish, lox and everything sandwich are phenomenal (swap the everything sandwich bagel for something sweet, it's a perfect balance of sweet and savory). I was going to the McNay Art Museum with a friend but we wanted to grab a quick breakfast before! Boss Bagels is super close by (a 7 min walk) and there's plenty of parking there as well. Inside, it's fast casual so order at the counter and there was already a line formed when we arrived but it moved quickly and we took it as a testament to how good these bagels are!! I ordered an iced chai, my friend ordered a latte, and we split the athlete bagel. Our food came out super fast and we were able to snag a table but it filled up quickly. My chai was good, but the star of the show was definitely the bagel!! The bagel itself was soft and held together really well, even being stuffed with egg whites, spinach, and turkey bacon. I absolutely adored the green onion schmear it came topped with!! We loved this place so much we actually ended up eating at the Boss Bagels location in the airport when we left as well too! Decided to treat myself and wander from my usual rest day breakfast of 5 bacon, chorizo and egg flour tacos and a Diet Coke. I says to myself I says I think I could bagel, see what all the hype is about. Boss bagel was the stage, a well oiled machine from what I could see, and smell, as I wandered in. Went wild and got the visually appealing rainbow bagel with the whimsically worded flumpkin schmear. Line moved quickly. Staff knew their roles. Barista was on fire. I waited an agonizing 4 minutes for my order. Pick up station was vocal and very clear. I say well done staff!! As for the question you're all waiting for me to answer, "how was the flumpkin taste!?" .... It's wonderful! Not too sweet, flavorful, fluffy. I LITERALLY feel better about myself after inhaling it. Stopped in after stumbling upon this place on google. They have so many bagel and shmear options to try it was a bit overwhelming, but they also have some preset sandwich options to try. I got the Rachel Reuben without sauerkraut and I feel that the sauerkraut would have made a difference in my sandwich. My bagel was pretty one dimensional without it and needed a bit of a refreshing component, but was otherwise very delicious. The line here can get pretty long, but the service moves quick.
