Never answers phones, changes prescriptions then says they need approval to fill them. Definitely switching pharmacies - ZERO stars

The QFC (Quality Food Centers) on Roosevelt Way Northeast in the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle…read morehas been one of my QFC location mainstays throughout my life thus far. I am from the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle (home neighborhood in my American hometown - Northgate, Seattle) and I continue to use this location if I am in the area, though I live in Shoreline now. Sections of the store are well labeled and the workers have been professional in our interactions over the years. My favorite cake is yellow cake, has been for over 20 years, and this QFC location remains my go-to when I am looking for a slice or two of yellow cake. The in-store bakery makes a great cake and perfect frosting, especially the yellow cake and caramel frosting option. Even as of my most recent visit on Sunday 29 October 2023, I was happy to find fresh made yellow cake options. The parking lot can get a little cramped, has a 90 minute limit, and is restricted to QFC customers. There are two entrances/exits, which can be a little difficult to maneuver. However, it was one of my favorite lots when I was first learning/adjusting to driving because it helped teach me patience and to breath in tight fit situations.

But right now, (March 2026), with the huge apartment construction project going on at the south end of the lot, parking, and getting in and out of the store, is becoming all but impossible during weekdays. I advise avoiding this QFC during core hours of 11am-4pm M-F until the project is done. Also, the construction crew is full of nasty guys who block the parking lot entrances and exits with equipment and work vehicles, and then yell at QFC customers to, basically, get of the way. All in all, very unpleasant shopping experience. Go somewhere else for now.

The environment was very relaxing and there was almost no line inside (though I believe there were a few cars in the drive-thru). The lovely pharmacy assistant that helped check me out was very nice and helped set up my prescriptions to auto-renew. Heaven knows I'm horrible at remembering to call in my refills until it's too late so hopefully this helps future me! Mind you, I have been to SEVERAL pharmacies in the area--usually grocery stores (several Safeways, Fred Meyer, QFC, Costco, Walgreens--you name it) and average spending at LEAST a half hour in line in a severely understaffed pharmacy with a single stressed out pharmacist juggling multiple tasks. I got none of these stressy vibes at Ostroms. The shop was super cute too and I will definitely find something here next time I need to purchase a gift. The only thing that sucked was getting in and out of the parking lot during rush hour-ish time. That was a nightmare but not Ostroms fault by any means! Looking forward to my next pick-up and exploring the store even more.

I had a horrible experience here today that could have significantly affected my rights as a…read morepatient to receive the healthcare my doctor prescribed. I can't imagine the (possible) consequences of the audacity and carelessness I encountered. I came in to pick up a prescription my doctor sent today for ongoing shortness of breath and cough. I told the pharmacist that I had a prescription. He checked the system and couldn't find it. Instead, he focused on an old prescription from November (it is March) that had been written by a different provider for a related condition. I told him multiple times that this was not why I was there: I had seen my doctor this morning, and I was there for the new prescription. We went back and forth, and I repeated several times that the November prescription was not the one I needed. Then I remembered that my date of birth had a typo in the clinic's system. Although my doctor said he would correct it, I thought that might be why the pharmacist couldn't locate the new prescription. I told him about the typo and suggested that could be the issue. After a few minutes, he said he had sorted it out and told me to come back after the lunch break. That was reasonable, so I waited in my car for 40 minutes. When I returned, I waited in line again. Another staff member told me it was almost ready. Shortly after, I received a text saying my prescription was ready--but the text listed the medication from November, not the medication my doctor prescribed today. I knew this immediately because this is a chronic condition and I'm very familiar with different medications. I went back and spoke to another pharmacist. She confirmed that what was ready was indeed the November prescription, and she still couldn't find the new one. After searching, she told me they couldn't locate it because of the typo in my date of birth. (This pharmacist was lovely and genuinely helpful.) But I had already told the first pharmacist about that typo. At his point, I had been at the pharmacy for more than an hour, with shortness of breath and I was feeling dizzy. Bottom line: if I hadn't been careful, known my medications, and advocated for myself, I could have gone home without the medication I needed. The first pharmacist put an old prescription into processing even though I repeatedly told him it was not what I was there for. This was done to rush me out. Knowingly rushing out a patient with a wrong set of pills is unacceptable for a healthcare establishment. Shame on this pharmacist. I will also be reporting this to Safeway headquarters and Washington Department of Health, so that this person receives the warning he needs and deserves.

We keep getting incentive msg. from the app to come in for the next Flu/Covid shot and we schedule an appt only to be told when we arrive and wait in line for 20 minutes that there is no availability or the wrong information is not available to the technicians from the data app. We'll not be back. We've already moved out prescriptions elsewhere for the same reasons. Someone should either figure out how to improve the digital customer relationship Information better or get training on how to use the tools available. Other pharmacies don't seem to have this much trouble managing customers data. Disappointed.

But anyway things are slightly different now for example the hot deli items it's self-serve, $2.99 for a 1/8 lb hot dog or picante dog, and they have some chimichangas I think those are $1.99 each. And of course the traditional slurpees and those are still hovering about 279 for the biggest one they got which is the best way to buy it otherwise between people picking cigarettes out of the ashtray which they have moved it's really the same thing and I can't believe they still have a Redbox here. They also have an Amazon drop box here cigarette prices are through the roof like every other place please see the picture for those 10 bucks for chew, 12 bucks or more 1250 for the regular brands and they have some regular specials some drinks there's a picture of that. Otherwise it's just a 7-Eleven right across from the salmon service Chevron on Northeast 12 5th Street and 15th avenue Northeast. This month July 2025 and probably into August there is no crossing Northeast 130th Street without a 20-minute wait from the freeway so I would recommend not going that way and also on Northeast 145th so the best way to come here is either from northbound or southbound 15th avenue Northeast otherwise you're looking at huge backups even right up till 9:00 9:30 at night. Take care and have fun. And on another note yes they do take debit for lottery purchases for those of us who gamble once in awhile.

They seem to have moved their unrefrigerated pop area lately to dedicate an entire wall of the store to wine instead. I can't imagine that'll exactly be a roaring fountain of new revenue for them. It's already hard to get into the cooler at that end of the store because the floor is so congested, but it's their store, so I guess they can do what they want with it. The only real drawback is the near-constant presence of various flavors of panhandler in front of the store. And the guy who apparently lives out of his car who's frequently parked in their lot, blaring his stereo. He seems to be vaguely associated with the panhandlers, although I haven't noticed him panhandling himself. I guess he limits himself to adding to the overall musical ambience of the location, as a kind of traveling DJ. Today a panhandler waited until I was almost back in my car by the pumps before she belatedly asked me for a handout. I guess she didn't notice me earlier. Now, if I were a panhandler, I'd work a little harder at noticing what was going on in the parking lot, but that's just me. She didn't make a move to get up, so apparently I was supposed to stop what I was doing, walk back across the entire parking lot, and hand-deliver the money to her. Yeah, no. I do give to panhandlers sometimes, but not often, and I was out of cash that morning anyway. I said, "Nope" in a neutral tone and kept going. She didn't like this at all, and made some choice personal remarks. I returned the favor, got in my car, and drove away. Yep, a shouting match with a panhandler makes a great start to any day! Thanks, 7-11!
