They have told me when it's too busy they don't pick up the phone (after I waited more than 1 hour on the phone and ended up just going there in person). They should just disconnect their phone or go straight to voicemail then! read more

This pharmacy is by far the worst I've ever been to. No CVS should operate like this. Let me tell you about this place... - It typically takes around 20-30 minutes for them to answer your phone call. (I've actually been on hold with them while writing this, and twice I've had someone pick up the phone then tell me to hold). - Prepare to wait in line. Last time I was there the line was about 20 people deep. - One time my sister picked up a prescription and only received half the amount of pills. She tried calling to report it right away, but couldn't get through to talk to anyone after being on hold for nearly an hour. When she went back into the store to report the incident, they told her she should've contacted them sooner, gave her attitude about it and accused her of lying. - Several times I've received a notification that my script is ready for pickup then when I go there they say it's not ready and push you off to wait in the "drop off" line to talk to someone else - only to find out that your script is ready so you have to go back to the pickup line and ask the pharmacist to do her job and look it up. Then oh yeah, it is ready. - On average it takes about 2-3 visits per script pickup. I often have to return back more than once to pick up a script because they will always find a way to mess it up. - It's never an easy drop off & pick up simple process as it should be (and is everywhere else). There is always something that goes wrong, takes too long, and of course you will always be treated like an inconvenience. - The way this pharmacy operates and treats its customers is similar to how you'd be treated at the RMV. Everyone is miserable there and want to make you miserable. There is no joy here. No winners. No happiness. After writing this, I don't know why I even go here. Aside from the location's convenience, I think I'd rather wait for the MBTA bus to come not on time, then get onto the crowded Red Line and walk a mile to the nice little CVS pharmacy in the North End where you are treated like a human being. read more

CVS in Quincy sent me to this pharmacy for a prescription which they did not have. South Boston did not have it either but Alexis could not have been nicer. She looked up the medication to see if another store carried it. She even called the store to make sure before I took the trip to Somerville. She was wonderful, helpful and very efficient. Here we go again. Don't bother calling if you need to speak with pharmacy staff, they don't EVER pick up. I was on hold for 40 MINUTES AND SOMEONE PICKED UP AND HUNG UP. I was trying to check to see if my scripts were filled. This is what causes people to walk in there and set the pharm staff straight. Why isn't the staff picking up the damn phone? The staff is HORRIBLE. They aren't nice either. They're rude as hell and if they don't like their jobs then they need to work elsewhere. Maybe not work with people perhaps? The gentlemen at the counter had an attitude and claimed he was the manager at the pharmacy after entering in my insurance information in incorrectly. He had glasses on and was the manager on duty at 5:30pm on Sunday May 28. I have never been so poorly taken care of by the pharmacy especially when I needed an epi pen for the allergic reaction I was having to keep me alive. There is No parking in the neighborhood to shoot down there and talk with them directly which further frustrates the situation. First issue: I spent an hour and a half on the phone to check on a prescription before driving to the store. No answer. Drove to the store to ask my question, which could have taken 2 minutes over the phone had someone decided to...work. Since I was there, I decided to ask why they weren't answering phones and was told "sorry, just busy...please move aside." Gotta respect the steadfastness in being poor at a job. There were three techs and no one else behind me in line, but there were two people that were in front of me to be fair. Second issue: Went in to pick up a prescription (same one referred to above) about five days after the first issue. Was told it would be ready in two hours, which is fine. I leave and plan to come back in two hours. After starting to drive back home, I get a text (slightly under 10 minutes after leaving the store) that it's ready. Though my particular issues might seem trivial, I am sure others can attest to similarly frustrating and possibly more serious incidents. This pharmacy is, and the people working therein are, incoherent, incompetent and overall a joke...at best. read more

I don't usually write reviews but this place is a disgrace. They have found a way to mess up my perscription the last three times I have been there. They gave me the wrong birth control after I confirmed with my doctor she sent in the correct order. To change this back I was required to see a doctor (so needed to pay a 20$ copay) and I wasnt able to see her for two weeks due to her busy schedule around the holidays. Therefore, I was on the wrong pill for over three weeks-- this caused me to be on my period for 4 full weeks. The prescriptions weren't even remotely similar. I asked to have a manager call me about how upsetting this was and never even received a call. When I finally went in to get the prescription, Sam the very unhelpful manager, thought my troubles were worth a 50$ CVS gift card.... Fast forward a few weeks and I drop off another prescription and they tell me they don't have it in stock. I have to wait an extra week. I then drop off the same perscription and they told me it was filled too recently to the last one. When it is time for them to fill it again they again do not have it. I again say that is fine and get a text last Thursday that it is ready. I am out of town for the long weekend and they tell me that it has expired when I go to pick it up on Tuesday... maybe you shouldn't run out of prescriptions you KNOW you have to fill!! You had the perscription. CVS brands themselves as health focused yet their employees (who have people's lives in their hands) continuously show a lack of regard at this location. read more

Just horrible. I'm planning on taking my prescriptions to Walgreens despite it being a half mile walk even though this CVS is steps from my apartment. They are consistently (at least four of the last six months) out of my medication and rarely have a timely estimate of when they'll have it in stock. When I've tried to call to ask if they have it in stock (to avoid taking an unnecessary trip to a store in the middle of a pandemic!), I have literally NEVER gotten off of hold. This week, I've tried three days in a row, during different times of the day, and waited for over 30 minutes each time before giving up. It's absolutely infuriating. They need to hire more people, revamp their service model, come up with a better stocking/procurement model....the list goes on. read more

One star and one word - Insensitive. Do you like to share the most intimate medical details of your life with complete strangers? If so, this is most definitely the place for you. Whether it's a "consultation" with the pharmacist or simply checking out at the pharmacy, what follows are its major problems, which likely violate a number of State and Federal privacy laws: 1. Most times, when picking up or consulting with a pharmacist, they won't just ask you for your name and address. No. They're not satisfied there. They want to confirm LOUDLY what your freakin' prescription is. I guess this is so all people within throwing distance can confirm if it's their drug, too. I mean, c'mon. Do I really need my neighbors knowing that I have medical problem requiring a specific medication... Also, if your medication isn't ready for pickup, you might even be lucky enough to hear this while at the register: "Is the (fill in your prescription medication of choice) ready for pickup." I might as well show up naked - 'cause that's how I feel. 2. The staff is less than knowledgeable about insurance, and even less helpful in resolving problems. I think they're actually dumb. Really. I have received consistently incorrect information about prescriptions and payments that could have left me either without any medication or with a serious overcharge. When I tried to correct them, they just scoffed and got all defensive, kinda like I get when everyone in line knows what medication I'm picking up... This place gets one star only because they actually have prescription drugs on hand. Other than that, avoid it all costs. read more

Its a CVS people. You pretty much know what you're walking into. This place went through a long remodeling, finally completed sometime around mid-fall 2013. Its a big step up from the way things were. The flow of the store is vastly improved, the checkout area is easier to navigate and even the front doors are finally up to par (and not broken). If you've been to a CVS, this place is pretty average. You have to deal with on-street parking or try your luck at the free 2-hour lot at 450 W Broadway. Conveniently there is also a 9 bus stop about 50 feet from the front door. The employees here are very nice, almost atypical for this type of establishment. The selection of products also seems improved post-remodeling. All in all, not a bad experience. read more

Avoid this pharmacy at all costs. I have lived in the area for 7 years now and it used to be great but has taken a turn for the worst since the pandemic. Every time you go to pick up a refill, they either tell you they have no record of your order and you need to go to drop off or they are "working on it now". This has been for months. There is a Walgreens down the street but they actually do shady things like only fill part of your script because they don't get fully reimbursed for things the way doctors order them. read more

The one woman who works days always hooks me up if I forget my cvs card and is always SO nice. She also gives me heads up on deals. I was in this store yesterday. It seems to be in a constant state of remodeling. Today, there were no ceiling tiles, wires all hanging, some lighting inoperative. I understand how stores must remodel, but this has been going on for over a year now (almost as if there's no interest in finishing). CVS Corporate should take a look. I came looking for three items. With no overhead signs depicting what's in each aisle, I essentially had to traverse each aisle looking for what I needed. Two of the items (razor blades and face cream) were locked up, requiring store personnel to unlock them. At this point, I just left the store, empty-handed. Found a nearby Rite-Aid which had everything I needed, unlocked, well lit, and well identified. I give up on you CVS. read more

I would give the staff and store a 0 star if I could. By far the worst pharmacy I've been to. And the customer service is the absolutely worst I've ever had to deal with. Incompetent, unprofessional staff across the board including the store manager Ryan. They don't have the decency or cognitive capacity to answer the damn phones. I honestly do not understand how they're still operating. I called the pharmacy department between the hours of 4-8:30pm to refill my prescription (I couldn't do it online), waited on hold for 30+ mins on multiple occasions, never got a hold of anyone. I called the store, spoke with the general manager to escalate my situation. He told me he'd transfer me to the pharmacist to discuss, and that he would let the pharmacist know I was on the phone. I waited on hold for the pharmacist to pick the phone for over 50 mins- he never answered. It is imperative I take that medication on time, every day. I missed it last night. It's truly unethical and pure negligence on their part. I called my CVS pharmacy in Newton after that whole ordeal, the staff there picked up the phone almost immediately and they were able to refill my RX in 15 mins. The pharmacist and techs there were personable, knowledgeable and eager to help. This CVS in South Boston is a danger to society- not to be dramatic but it's a danger to people who need their prescriptions on time. And how the hell do providers and sick patients get a hold of the pharmacy department when they need to speak with someone regarding a medication???? This is by far the best pharmacy I have ever been to! The pharmacies from my home town got nothing on this one! Best service I have ever had! My script was done in less than 15 minutes and the staff is great especially this one hawt technician named Nick! owowwwww! A year ago, I stopped at this location to buy several products. As I shopped for shampoo (shopping basket in hand), I noticed one of the female employees staring at me. She then approached a male cashier who proceeded to stare at me as well. I ignored it and continued to shop but everywhere I went in the store, she proceeded to follow me (up and down every aisle). Finally, I spoke up: "excuse me ma'am, why are you following me?" She acted like she couldn't hear me but I kept asking her until she finally snapped back: "I'm the manager of this store and you have to leave!" I told her I wasn't going to leave and she threatened to call the police. I told her to call them. So she goes behind closed doors and out comes a couple security guys. They ask me what the problem is and I tell them that I was followed around the store and then told to leave for no reason. The first guy starts asking me why I would assume that she was following me, like I must be doing something wrong to think that. I regret not recording the incident and for not reporting the employees. Anyways, the lady was an older blond/grey woman like in her 50's or 60's. I felt sorry for her, so proud to be the manager of CVS , I didn't have the heart to get her fired. This branch is a little odd. For starters, there are huge parts of the ceiling missing, with no sign of the typical "Please pardon our appearance" business. The layout is odd, too, with walls that seem like they're not supposed to be there...almost as if they are under construction, yet no signs of people actually constructing anything or notices that say so. The store is smaller than most CVS stores, which means they have a limited selection. The last odd thing is that the service here is very friendly. I know you might be thinking, shouldn't that be a good thing? Well, yes, it is a good thing, but it just seems so out of character for this place. Everyone from the cashier to the pharmacist really wanted to make sure I found everything I needed. Which was nice. I'll keep getting my prescription here, but can't say that I'll rely on it for other stuff I need. read more

From the panhandlers out front, to the razor blade "vaults", this place is ghetto. Staff were helpful and friendly. Pharmacy was quick on service. On sale items are easy to locate and usually up front in baskets. One suggestion for the store management is to have traffic police to clear people who double park in front of the entrance. read more

This CVS discriminates against the disabled. Brought my service dog in to the store with me and was harrased by their loss prevention guy the entire time, telling me to leave, that I didn't look disabled, demanding to see my license, telling me he would call the cops. When their manager finally came over he did nothing. These people need to learn the law. read more
