The exterior maintains the vintage look of what was originally built as MacArthur Theater in December 1946 as a 1000-seat single-screen movie house. It closed down in 1997, when CVS took over the lease and began its reign! The store staff here is very helpful, but the pharmacy is hit or miss. Unfortunately, the experience with one particular female pharmacist and her technician has been consistently poor. It is not a one-off issue -- every time I interact with them, they are rude, short-tempered, and dismissive. Basic questions are met with impatience or eye-rolling, and the service feels unnecessarily unpleasant. read more

This pharmacy often seems very understaffed, which is unfair to the pharmacists and customers. Often there's only one person there - the pharmacist who has to deal with everything, or sometimes one pharmacist and one person at the register. When I get a text message that a prescription is ready, because of past experience I try to make sure via the app or calling that in fact it is filled with the correct price attached. But usually there are issues when I go to pick up - either the Rx hasn't been filled correctly or at all, and usually I have to ask them to apply the GoodRx price. Is pretty common that they say I need to come back the next day - because of their errors. Just happened yet again. I was picking up three prescriptions, only one was filled correctly. The second wasn't even ready although their text said it was, but they had to order. Then CVS tried to charge $111 instead of the $36 GoodRx price. Luckily, the pharmacist was able to adjust the price, but I shouldn't have to ask every single time for every single prescription, GoodRx is saved in my profile. So frustrating! Pretty recently, their system was down for like a week and they weren't able to apply any GoodRx prices. And another time I was overcharged by $75 because they just wouldn't apply the GoodRx price, and I needed the Rx and couldn't wait longer or come back a third time. This time, for some unknown reason, the pharmacist had only filled the third prescription with 14 pills instead of 30, as indicated by the doctor. The pharmacist was not able to correct it, she did not know why they didn't fill it properly, but said that she would have to leave them a note to correct it and I needed to come back the following day. When I came back the following day, after trying to check via the app that the pill count and price had been corrected, I found out it had not. There was only one person there, the pharmacist, and she had to redo the Rx while I waited. The price was a couple of dollars more than the GoodRx price, but I didn't have the energy to try to get that corrected. If it doesn't have the best GoodRx prices, I would go anywhere but CVS. read more

Pick another pharmacy, this one is the absolute worst! They had me wait over an hour telling me they were filling my prescription. Actually first they told me my prescription was ready, so I went to pick it up. Then when I got there they told me to wait and they would have it in 20 minutes. 40 minutes later I asked if they had it, they they didn't actually have the prescription my doctor sent over so they were trying to get my insurance to approve something else. 30 minutes later they said it wasn't approved and I would have to go to another CVS to pick up my prescription. I'M SO EFFING PISSED AT CVS PHARMACY RIGHT NOW. I've been trying to reach the pharmacy via phone for over 45 minutes due to a prescription refill emergency + they keep either hanging up, picking up but not talking leaving the phone just hanging, or automatically sending me to a prescriber voicemail, which I'm not even a prescriber so is unhelpful. I'm so aggravated because they refused to answer the phone for whatever reason. It's part of your job + it's called CUSTOMER SERVICE. Other times, I've even heard them talking/laughing on the other end + just send me directly to the prescriber voicemail. I've been using this pharmacy for over a decade because it was convenient, but they keep finding other ways to keep me terribly disappointed [i.e. out of stock prescriptions, nasty/condescending attitudes at the counter]. I use one brand prescription for years and every second time I get the wrong (generic) product, even though it should have been recorded in their computer for a long time. The pharmacy staff is often very unfriendly. It would be so easy to say, sorry, we fix it, instead of appearing resentful and extra slow. I think it is time for me to find another pharmacy... This CVS is just a little behind all the others. It's cute because it's a renovated movie theater, but it's not cute when they only accept cash! I have been here twice when they were unable to accept credit cards and the first time, I managed to have cash. However, the second time I had to drive to another CVS to pick up what I needed. I'm giving this CVS an extra star because it is really spacious and the whole renovated-movie theater thing is actually pretty cute. read more

The store was understaffed on a busy Saturday, I went in for a flu shot appointment and the minute clinic was closed. I was directed back to the busy pharmacy area to check-in, and then had to wait while the one overworked pharmacist who was trying her best had to deal with all the customers in line before getting to me. The makeshift vaccine area was just the blood pressure testing area with a screen put up and a few chairs. There was a bag of cotton balls left open and some alcohol wipes in a bin, didn't seem sanitary. CVS shouldn't alerted me if the minute clinic would be closed and a nurse wouldn't be on site when I made the appointment so that I didn't have to wait in the busy pharmacy area and burden the overwhelmed pharmacist. read more

0 stars for the two women at the pharmacy on the evening of Tuesday November 10th (but this location was redeemed by Darryl/Denzel maybe at the register). I had just left the VCA Animal office across the street, and needed Zyrtec for the Beloved Goldendoodle (sad fluffy guy has seasonal allergies). I wandered around, and then thought this might be something behind the pharmacy counter, and not having any allergies myself, I figured I would just ask. Because how the hell do I know if it is cough or allergy medicine that you have to show ID to purchase? Recall the cheesy ads from years ago that had the "ask the pharmacist" scene where the helpful pharmacist happily assisted the CVS customer? Those ads were definitely not based on this location, since I waited patiently for a while in line, finally asked if Zyrtec was behind the counter and was just given "the look" and told me to go to aisle 5B. OK, thanks Miss Friendly. Off to find it I went, and then I wondered "hmmmm, is it the same as the CVS brand, is it this or that, which tablet or capsule do I want?". Again, not having allergies myself, how do I know? Back to see Miss Friendly, and the pharmacist was next to her at the register, so I said "I have a silly question, but since I have never bought allergy stuff, I just don't know..." and then asked my question. You would have thought I had just asked if they would walk my dog in the rain, then give him a bath and clean my entire apartment by the look she gave me. Thankfully the guy at the register was nice, and the 75% off Halloween candy calmed the nerves. read more

Like many others who have reviewed the pharmacy services at this CVS, I found the staff to be uninterested and rude. There is not even a hello or nod of acknowledgement when you approach the counter; staff if too busy looking at their monitors. I came to pick up a prescription that was ordered a few days before and assured would be ready but was told it was on backorder. When I asked why I wasn't notified I received a look of extreme annoyance and no solution was offered. Don't work in customer service of you don't like people! I will be sending my prescriptions elsewhere from now on. The staff in the store part is very helpful and friendly though, although the store is often out of certain products. read more

What can I say? It's a CVS with all the things you expect to find. The check out staff at the front would give this place a higher rating but the pharmacy staff just makes this place such a painful experience. They're slow, unhelpful and at times downright rude if you aren't one of their "favorite" customers. I never thought I would review a pharmacy but I was very pleased with my service tonight. I brought in my prescription 15 minutes before close thinking I would pick it up in the morning. The pharmacist filled it for me within 5 minutes. I am thrilled as I have had nerve issues and tingling pain all over my body which makes life and even sleep really hard. read more

I had called and checked with a dozen pharmacies looking for a brand name of my prescription and none of them carried it and many did not carry the generic form of the drug in the mg I was prescribed. I decided to stop into CVS on MacArthur because I was picking some things up at the Safeway next door and I was told that this CVS also did not carry the prescription but the lady working behind the counter told me they would order it for me which was not offered by any of the other pharmacies that I had stopped into or called. I took a star off because it was a little bit of a hassle to get it ordered. She said the pharmacy would order for me but said the pharmacist was not in and I would have to come back the next day and put the order in. I didn't make it in the next day but stopped in two days later to find that the right person to order it was still not there but this time a girl took the prescription information and said she would make sure it was ordered. I called in a few days later to make sure the prescription was ordered and the girl on the phone said she didn't know how to look up what was ordered but told me that they had not received the drug in the deliveries that day so I would have to call back the next day and check to see if it had arrived. read more

This CVS has the absolute worse service ever! When my daughters Metformin prescription ran out of refills they didn't remind her that the prescription had no more refills nor did they call the Doctors office to see if a new prescription could be issued. On top of that they didn't offer some extra pills to tide her over until a new prescription was received which is normally an expected action on the part of the pharmacy for a person on Metformin so that their insulin/blood sugar does not get out of whack! What a shame on their part for not being more concerned about your customers! read more

This is my neighborhood CVS and my pharmacy. I remember going to see a couple movies there in the theater's last days. The store is far from perfect and the pharmacy staff is not the friendliest. However, everyone else in the store is beyond friendly and hospitable. I have had a few somewhat unpleasant experiences that rubbed me the wrong way about the pharmacy, but I've realized just how high-volume this CVS is. The pharmacy is non-stop moving and seems very efficient as even though it appears to be extremely busy, I've never had to wait in line long. I've also witnessed some taxing, impatient customers that sure would try my patience. All and all the pharmacist is trustworthy and has your best interest at heart. During the pandemic I love walking to CVS and putzing around the store. All safety protocols rigorously enforced. The holiday sales are INSANE at this location too. My removal of one star is for the pre-pandemic state of the restroom. The details are too horrid to repeat. Also something is weird about the minute clinic. I've been to various minute clinics and my insurance has always covered it. When I went to that one, I specifically double-checked if I was covered and was told I was. Then I got a bill larger than what a doctor's appointment would cost. read more

I bought a box of Candy Canes for Christmas gifts: EVERY single one of them was BROKEN!

This CVS location is so grotty. Nothing looks clean. A cardboard candy tower tipped over because the cardboard was wet from the wet carpet from a leak. No employee picked up the candy for over 20 minutes even though they were walking around. The Minute Clinic there is a joke. The woman never called people, she just took whoever was at the door. I had an appointment and was waiting near door and she opened the door and ushered in some guy who just walked in without calling the next name on the board. She then cancelled my appointment. When I finally confronted her, she said she called names and that I should have said something. Odd, as I was standing there the entire time and saw her coming and going but never heard my name. This location is so sad, as is the Minute Clinic. read more

Terrible. They had good people working there then they were replaced and now angry woman who hassles​ you when you're simply trying to make a purchase of less than 5 items. Don't go here. This is absolutely the worst store ever. I only come here as it is near my home. The staff is unbearable-the pharmacists are ice cold and rude. Not to mention the majority of the support staff. Told prescriptions are ready and when arrive to pick up- no one can find them or there are issues. Then have to return later and half the time the same situations occur again. Takes way too long for staff to find your items if they can find them. Went to pick up prescriptions today that were to be ready and I visibly saw myself in the bins but had to wait while they hunted and went back and forth with various computers-3 different computers and 3 different staff. Then had to wait while others were helped. When went to front to pay for my other items I needed after waiting for 1.5 hours for the pharmacy to get everything together, I had to be rung up and rebadged THREE yesTHREE times before the third person to help me with that 500$ transaction could figure out the issue. Do yourself a favor- skip this CVS and go to Spring Valley where they are pleasant and appreciate the business. I know I will. read more

I've been a customer at this CVS for 5 years. Most of the staff is really kind and helpful but one of the ladies in the pharmacy is rude and does whatever necessary to get out of actually doing any work. She puts people on hold for over twelve minutes if you don't have your Rx number on you, with hopes you will hang up. She doesn't want to look up your name even though it takes 30 seconds. She tries to get you to go to other locations to avoid work. She pushes the CVS app to avoid helping good customers in person or over the phone. I don't want the stupid app! Basically she doesn't want to help customers and I'm not sure how she's employed here. This pharmacy is bad about contacting doctors about refills, and refilling prescriptions in general. The folks who work at the main counter are awesome though! read more
