One example of the encouragement from the staff members

I've been a member here for a little over a year and it has been such a blast! I wasn't a very consistent person when it came to getting excercise and this place has changed my schedule for the better. I first tried out a class on class pass and I was instantly hooked. The class itself is super challenging and makes you stay engaged but they fly by so fast because the instructors are so much fun and encourage everyone throughout the class. You are always given the option to make adjustments to the class that fits your style/energy and I've never felt pressured to fit in. When you arrive, you check in on the iPads at the front and borrow cycle shoes for free if you do not have your own. Then, when you turn around the corner there are free lockers to use while you're in class. They also have bathrooms, showers, water, coffee, and sometimes they give out free stuff like energy drinks or treats! If you haven't tried cyclebar, you should give this location a shot because it's so rewarding and fun!

This place is so much fun, I was invited to a birthday ride here on a Sunday with about 30 others and the guy doing the class was high energy with great music which really made this super fun for me as I have never enjoyed cycling. This class was mostly cycling but combined some strength training as well as each bike has 4lb and 6lb weighted bar on the side so you really get a full body workout. They have everything you need for class, water, towels, lockers and shoes that connect to the pedal of the bike...........sweet! After the 45 minute class we were treated to fruit, cheese and mimosa's. They also sell workout gear here. We had lots of fun during class, but be warned that the soreness is real from this class.

If you want your workout to feel like a well catered, high energy party, then this is the gym for you. Opening this week, this family run business really focuses on bringing a positive atmosphere to the cycling experience. They have free use of clip in shoes with each class, free water bottles with room temperature and ice cold water on tap. When you get to your assigned bike, it's already set up with a fresh cleaned towel and weighted bar. General amenities include two unisex shower/changing rooms, and two unisex bathrooms. They also have free use of lockers that you set the combination on, so there's no key to lose. As for the classes, you're in a dark room lit up like a hot night club, complete with live DJ and an awesome leader called a "Cycle Star" who motivates the class with vibrant energy and also tells you what resistance and rpm you should be at for each song in your workout. The specked out bikes are connected to a main computer, so the instructor can post the "class rankings" on the main front screens, so you can see how you stack up with your fellow classmates. But, don't worry, it goes by user name that you set up, so you can keep it fairly anonymous if you want. So head over to King street and try these guys out. I know I'll be back.

    Free fruit and water station.

As you read this...Keep the fact that this facility is the most expensive gym membership…read moreanywhere...and especially Charlotte. Also this is meant to provide constructive feedback in hopes that management/area director and leadership at Lifetime read this- finally these are constant grievances of mine, others on this feed and I have been a member for more than 3 years. Additionally, I've experienced the brand new top shelf Lifetime in Cary NC...world of difference in service, equipment (of course new) , AND true spa like feel in the men's locker room...down to lockers have 'bumpers' on them so when they are shut they are quiet. 1. NOISE! Men's spa area is so loud I have to wear airbuds to escape the constant yammering of others in the steam and sauna. 2. Tired Equipment and in consistent amenities- I joined for the quality of equipment and mainly access to steam and dry sauna- Equipment is worn out...bikes, cable machines, benches, accessories for gym equipment in general need replacement. Machines sit dormant waiting for repair often...and Steam room is constantly inconsistent and temperatures in dry sauna are below recommended temps. Did I also mention how LOUD it is in the 'Quiet Area.' 3. Towel service is 1 STAR....and unacceptable. Last night and many days/nights the shelves in the locker area are bare with NO TOWELS....I literally had to walk the locker room to find a clean towel to dry off with. 4. Family Friendly. YES! It should be...but now that school/college is on summer break the gym experience is fraught with kids being kids.. from locker room to gym floors...absolute chaos... 5. Showers- The entire shower area is a mess a lot of the time, but especially last night....walk into a shower and someone left towels inside stall....No attendants cleaning up or restocking towels...counters full of water, etc. NOT A PREMIUM EXPERIENCE! I truly enjoy investing in my health and consider Lifetime a splurge in my budget....BUT I continually leave shaking my head at the level of service...quality...and inconsistency....even the 'simple things' from a staff person, like Have a good night...hope you had a nice workout. It would be nice to have persons on the floor assisting 'newbies' with workout tips or offering assistance in using the equipment.

Not required to re/rack your weights here. So that sucks when you need the rack that someone didn't clean up!

So far, I strategically pick my times based on peak crowding and so far have had no issues with equipment access, etc. I live within walking distance so the paid parking isn't an issue for me. "Scholarship Application We will never turn anyone away due…read moreto financial need; we are committed to being a Y for all." DOWD YMCA Charlotte REMOVE THIS SH!T FROM YOUR WEBSITE! LIARS! My roommate is on permanent disability keeps getting denied their membership scholarship. He can not afford the full price living on fixed $994 a month. He can't get anyone to explain why he got denied, and when I tried to help trying to ask some questions to understand their logic, the lady talked nonsence on the phone and then just hung up on me! Super unprofessional and dumb personnel that have no clue what they are doing and what customer service is. Rude and untrained. Well at least the one we were on the phone with (I guess from scholarship team?)... I'm not even mentioning when you calling to the actual branch and asking to speak with someone who can actually help, they say oh sorry they really don't have the phone number. Lol. What a joke. They will "NEVER turn you away..."! What a freaking spit in the face!!! They want a disabled person living on $994 a month SSI pay the full price for membership, that he can't even use 100%. He goes mainly to the sauna and steamroom. THEY ARE LITERALLY TURNED HIM AWAY! DISABLED PERSON WHO WANTS TO USE YMCA JUST FOR STEAMROOM. I just can't believe I'm not in the 3rd world country. Shame on you YMCA scholarship team! What are you guys getting paid for? Do you even look in those applications or online shopping all day? Because you are obviously NOT doing your jobs there! At all! You can't even explain why you did what you did. Lol.... Who hired you? Headless chickens hire headless chickens or what? I hope 10 future generations of your own families live on $994 a month being on a disability and get denied everywhere and feel helpless every day of their life.
