Cyclemania on the Danforth have consistently been helpful with fairly easy, same-day repairs compared to much of the other bike shops which have consistently told me to leave my bike for a day or two for the same job. I find them reasonably priced and very friendly. read more

I cannot believe what just took place on a simple phone call. I was simply asking if my bike had a freewheel or cassette and was told by the employee that I had lost my privilege's for bringing my bike in or to even ask a question due to the fact that I pulled my bike out of their store because they wanted to once again charge me for work they already did 3 weeks prior. THIS BIKE SHOP IS A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS. I should have been informed that I should just buy a new re-enforced wheel as opposed to paying $70.00 for them to fix it. I rode my bike home, checked it and noticed there was not only play in the wheel, but 4 spokes were loose. I called them and was told to bring it in however I parked it for most of the month but in honesty i did ride it to the store (1 block away) 2 other times. I am a heavy set guy and I should have been informed NOT TO FIX THE WHEEL BUT TO BUY A STRONGER ONE. This didn't happen. instead they took my money and my phone call that same day and told me to bring it in. When I brought my bike back in they try to charge me AGAIN!!!!!! So in closing I spent $160 for them to repair my rear wheel, fix the gears and maintenance the front and rear brakes. I had to fix my own positioning of the rear wheel, re-adjust the brakes as they were both rubbing, my tire was not set properly on the wheel and my rear rim is still screwed. DO NOT TAKE YOU BIKE TO THIS SHOP. THEY WILL SCREW YOU ANYWAY THEY CAN TO MAKE A BUCK AND WHEN YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEIR WORK THEY WILL CHARGE YOU AGAIN. read more

Bought a second hand bike, had to deal with a few fixes. These guys are super helpful and great to deal with. They will get you set up and in and out with minimum fuss. Often they won't even charge me for the little things I don't have the tools to fix. That might be because I was in there 3 times in the last week though! Sanjay was great the other day as well. Service wise the store seems to be quite good. Lubo strikes me as a no nonsense sort of guy. The prices for the service is also pretty competitive. One of the issues with this kind of service however is that there aren't going to be any frills - so one thing which I noticed when I got my bike back from its service was that the handle bars were quite dirty which was a bit of a downer. There aren't too many bikes in the store because it's quite small and so if you're looking to buy a bike it would definitely be wise to shop around. read more

AWFUL place! Please do yourself a favour and save yourself the headache, do NOT go to cyclemania. I brought in my partner's bike because this place was close to our house, the service was ok the first time, the place is not too tidy and they treat you like they don't care. As I was walking out a woman was walking out furious and yelled "Don't worry I am not coming back to this shop!", I should've turned back around and pick up my bike. Anyways, I picked up the bike a week later and the problem was still there. I told the person there about it and he was incredibly rude, and treated me like I was stupid. He told me it wasn't their fault, it was my bike. I simply walked out, but I am angry about having paid for a bike that wasn't fixed. 1. Horrible Service 2. I was riding to the Cycle Lie-in at City Hall on Friday, and got a flat tire. Later, I swung by Cyclemania, stressed and in need of mobility. Only giving one star because I can't give zero. Had been loyal customers for a number of years, till my husband purchased a new bike for me here. He purchased a rear rack for the bike and had it installed as part of the purchase. The first time I rode it, something didn't seem right, so I asked hubby to take a look for me. (As a former bike courier, he's pretty handy with bikes. Having owned, ridden and maintained bikes myself for 30 years, I also know my way around them, just prefer if someone else deals with it.) He saw right away that the rack had been wrongly attached to the rear wheel axle--it was inside the frame (not actually sure how they managed to do that, but still)--so told me to take it back to the store and get them to fix it. The response was so insulting and rude, I still cannot believe it. As another reviewer noted, the correct response is: "Oh, we made a mistake? So sorry about that, we will fix it right now. Sorry for the inconvenience." The response I got? "Why was your husband messing with it? He's done something wrong and now there's a problem." When I pointed out that he had only looked at it, and had not touched it at all--the problem was created at the store and that's why I was bringing it back-- the follow up ignorant admonishment about how people who don't know what they are doing shouldn't touch things like bicycles (oh right, the highly complex and technical workings of how a a rear bike wheel axle is attached to the frame and to attachments for fenders and racks cannot be understood by mere cyclists!) was deeply insulting to both hubby's skill and knowledge and my own, as well as quite explicitly calling me a liar. I suppose I do agree that people who don't know what they are doing shouldn't be given the responsibility of assembling or fixing bicycles. And if a bicycle shop cannot attach a rear rack correctly to a brand new bicycle, then perhaps they should not be in that business. I will never go back to this store, and I happily go further and would be quite willing to pay more to take my cycle business anywhere else. read more

I had an excellent experience this weekend. I brought my bike in for a tune up and walked up with what felt like a brand new bike! It made the whole experience of riding joyful again. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and impeccable not to mention super fast. As I waited, I couldn't help but notice how well priced everything was - from big to small. Considerably less than what I've seen out there. Right then and there I made a mental note that this is where I will shop from here on in. I've bought two bikes here (one for me, one for my kid), and regularly take my bike in for repairs and maintenance. The staff are polite, and the work they did on my bike has always been affordable and done promptly. A couple of times they didn't even charge me for small adjustments. As someone who loves riding but isn't a "gearhead," I value their advice and they haven't led me astray yet. I was having problems with my tires going flat, and the owner recommended a different set of tires, which turned out to be fantastic - no flats since. I'm going back here today to get a bike. I went to four shops around downtown and this one had the best deal. They had a decent selection of bikes. I'm in the market for an upright commuter bike. They had a Miele upright from last year that was $399. The guy working there said he'd change the seat so that it's not a quick release for free. He also said he'd throw in a bell free of charge too and tune-ups for a year are free too! That to me sounds like an excellent deal! read more

Atrocious service, just the worst. I brought in my bike to get a flat fixed. 24 hours later they had put on a $70 tire but the tube was still flat with the original puncture! they had put on a new tire but no tube. Incredible! read more

Great shop with a good selection. I tried out a few bikes based on Sanjay's recommendations and ended up getting an Evo Riversport, which I'm really happy with. These guys are seriously awesome. I've gone in for tune-ups and general fixit jobs, but have come out with so much more. They even gave me replacement pads for my Nutcase helmet because they were "lying around." And they have done countless chain oiling for me. Had my back wheel stolen and took the bike to the shop around 11. At 3pm the wheel was mounted with a new rim, tire and gear plates and the bike was ready to go. Took the ride back home, the bike felt better than ever. The shop uses quality parts, has good craftsmanship and strong service. read more

I visited this store yesterday and had the MOST appalling customer service, I will never pay another cent to this company. I waited for the guy to finish talking on the phone, to what sounded like a very unethical conversation with him advocating to lie to get what he wanted. I paid them over $100 a few days before to get a bike tune up, which they didn't even bother to quote me on beforehand. A couple days later, my wheel was wobbling and I went in to see what they could do. Since I had just been in to get the tune up, I wasn't expecting they'd charge more, and the guy accuses me of ruining my own spoke. He was so rude to me I couldn't believe it. I went down to the Coxwell store and they thought I had gotten my bike tuned up there and weren't going to charge me anything for fixing my spoke. read more

Excellent, attentive, fast (immediate) service. I came here to buy a bike after my old one was stolen. I told staff what my price range and preference was, and they showed me something that fit my desired budget (not something 30% more expensive). They didn't have my size, but offered to build one my size in 20 minutes. I can back 20 minutes later and the bike was ready to test ride. It rode well, and I decided to buy it. I also bought a rack which was installed free of charge and a Kryptonite U Lock. A kickstand was thrown in for free, rack was installed free of charge, and I was given an additional 5% discount on the whole package. Plus this includes free adjustments/minor tuning in the first few months, PLUS a free tune-up next season. All this for $330 (bike), $25 (rack), $50 (lock). I did come back a few times and was very happy with the service. Shortly after buying the bike I decided I wanted a more expensive lock (sometimes I lock the bike up late at night outdoors) and I hadn't used the lock I had bought (although the bracket was already installed on the bike). I called Cyclemania to ask if I could return it and get the more expensive model, and they said 'no problem'. Another time I came in after the first ~200 Km to have the rear brake adjusted and for some minor wheel truing--although a busy Saturday afternoon they did the work the same hour, and it was free of charge. Since then , my budget Cyclemania hybrid bike has travelled over 1000 km this seaon without problems. Have gotten my moneys worth and then some from this shop. On another note, the politeness of the staff and owner has varied visit to visit, but I think this is just because the shop is so busy and its hard give both people and bikes the face time they deserve--considering its a bike shop, I'm glad the priority goes to the bikes! read more

I took my bike to cyclemania for a tune up. The mechanic told me that he would have to replace the cotter pin, and that I would need a $40 super tune up. so, i said that was fine, and came back to get my bike. it was still cold, so I didn't get to ride my bike for 2 weeks after bringing my bike home from cyclemania. when i rode my bike for the first time it was making awful noises from the fender. I took the bike back to cyclemania, and tried to explain what was happening. The younger employee argued with me over how long ago I had brought my bike in. I said 2 weeks, and had a receipt, it was actually 16 days, and the employee said "well thats way more than 2 weeks". That was annoying, but then the head mechanic came to look at my bike. He said that the wheel and tire were too big for my fenders and that I would have to remove my fender. I thought i could do it myself, so I took it to a DIY bike repair shop (Bike Sauce... Highly recommended!) and I was shocked to find out that my fenders were making these noises because they were missing nuts, bolts, screws... I can't believe I paid $40 for a "super tune up" and they didn't even check to see if my fenders were on properly. save your money, these guys are too busy to give good customer service. read more
