    What a fun play

This is my first time at this theater. I can't believe it's been around for 15 years and I've never been here. It's a great set up and every seat has a great view of the stage. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Parking is easy to find. The play tonight is fantastic. All the actors are really good. It is a very funny play. My favorite actor is a young lady by the name of Tamara Rodriquez. She is incredible.

    Awesome Play!

I passed this place three times before I finally found it tucked away in what looked like a neighborhood strip mall. Dang navigation kept telling me it was 500 ft on the right, but I didn't see a theatre. Guess I was expecting to see a building similar in structure to the Orange County Performing Arts Center where I've attended for countless theatre performances. Well, this is definitely far from that. It's a small quaint theatre; only big enough to handle a handful of people. I was rather impressed with my overall experience. They could've opted for better theatre food then Skittles, but I'll give Moxie a pass given that there was no intermission and I wasn't there for the concessions. I saw Toni Morrison's "Bluest Eye" and it was very good. It was 90 minutes of pure captivation. I will definitely return for another theatre production.

I went to this tiny but cozy theater for a musical, which was great! The band was awesome, as well as the leading actress. Highly recommend!

What Margaret said. Yelp considers this comment to be too short, so: Just look at the next comment by "Margaret." I agree with her.

I was volunteering at an event during the intermission at the Don Powell Theatre…read more I got a chance to see the second half of the play: ALICE: Curiouser and Curiouser! An adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Overall, I was really impressed with the production and theatre. Pros: -considering this is mostly a student production, its quite professionally done, with good acoustics, great lighting and nice costumes -talented cast (again mostly students, I believe) with good dance skills and really good voices (the show wasn't billed as a musical, but there was a lot of singing, music and dancing which made it fun and lively) -nice theatre; quaint, clean and not a bad seat in the house -you can fill out the survey in the program which enters you into a contest to win a pair of tickets to another show -inexpensive tickets (about $15 per show) and definitely worth the price -most of the cast congregated in the lobby after the show for a meet and greet Cons: -venue is a little tricky to find -the small size of the theatre (and, I imagine, limited budget) means a small stage, which is nice cause you can see everything, but limits the cast size and special effects etc (ie. no big dance numbers) -since the cast is mostly students, I believe, I can see some plays not working very well if they have limited diversity of performers (ie. no elderly people, etc) -parking in the area (its on the SDSU campus) can be tricky, especially on the weekend and you have to pay $1 per hour (which is less than most most concert/theatre venues) -there is no concession stand available, although I'm sure there are vending machines and eateries throughout the campus -very limited runs (a few days), so it can be difficult to schedule into your schedule -the play was a bit difficult to follow and a little obscure; some random 60's era costumes thrown in, and kind of dark for what was billed a family-friendly show They have a few different shows throughout the year, the next one being The Great American Trail Park Musical which looks really good. I'll try to check it out! Its a shame they don't do more advertising, because the theatre was only half full... I would have never known about this place if I wasn't volunteering... I bet if more people knew about it, the increased ticket revenue could help them further improve.

Tickets are available to the last two shows this weekend (25-26Jul)- go purchase asap! My daughter loves the movie, so I've seen it well over 100 times--plus the Broadway production! Since we love musical performances, we knew the moment we ran into YAT at the YMCA health fair that we were definitely going to attend. The kids did such a wonderful job! The singing, dancing, and acting were incredible...I was honestly amazed at the sheer amount of talent on stage. During a few songs, I actually shed tears of pure happiness. It was also so cool that they did a meet/greet afterwards. My daughter ran right up to young Anna and hugged her. A huge thank you to the actress for showing my daughter so much love and taking a picture with her--she was so happy! The venue had a decent sized foyer that comfortably accommodated concessions, raffle display tables, and a crowd of roughly 100 people (maybe more). I loved seeing all the themed snacks, stickers, gift baskets, and souvenirs. Prices to support the theater were very reasonable, and using Venmo for payment was super easy. I 100% recommend following YAT for upcoming show dates! It is the perfect way to support the local community and enjoy a fun family night out:)

I walked past this store front in Grossmont Center and immediately registered him as soon as I got home. The price for the four-day camp is very reasonable, considering the cost of regular childcare and that the kids are there from 9AM-4PM. My son always ended the day enthusiastic about what he had learned, and excited to come back the next day. The showcase they put on at the end of the week for family and friends is impressive, especially since they only have a short period of time to teach both songs and choreography. My son's solo brought proud tears to my eyes! He said he can't wait to come back for the next one in the spring.

Regardless, it is generally a great place to catch a show. Through the years, I have seen many great shows here including Flogging Molly, The Shins, Prince, Interpol, and many others. I hadn't been in a couple years, but last week my husband and I went to see The Human Leave, Soft Cell, and Alison Moyet (Yaz). It was an incredible show. Starting out, there are a few things that I dislike about the venue. First, because it is on a college campus, parking can be difficult and you are basically forced into the $30 paid parking garage. Also, I was suffering from a recent sports injury, making the trek across campus to the theater a bit of a task. In the past, the lines for swag and drinks have been nearly impossible, though, this time, they were much improved. Finally, the trek to the ladies' room is a bit far depending on your seat. Also, it is not a large restroom and the line goes slowly, However, it is clean. On the flip side, there are a lot of positive points to this venue. The location is generally decent as it is not far from town. Despite the crowds coming in for shows, it doesn't take too long to get in and out of the parking lots. The event staff consists of many college students working concessions or ushering, and they are very friendly. It is really a nice, open, outdoor, relaxing venue. There is not a bad seat in the house (as many other reviews state). I have been in front, in back, and in the middle. I have been able to see and hear the show very well from each of my seats. It has also been my experience that the crowd has been generally a well-behaved, polite group, though I guess you can't alway count on that. All in all, it is a great place to catch a show, especially during the beautiful San Diego summer months.

Crappy nachos and bags of not fresh popcorn??? Seriously? No full bar, just canned cocktails. In 2025 Truly canned drinks are $18 and Kirkland water is $5. A little silly.
