This is the worst kind of doctor. She doesn't care about you, she over schedules her colonoscopies to fit in the max possible. My appointment was for 11, I started at 1:45. All the patients were made to wait like this. After the procedure you are lucky if she spends 10 seconds explaining the results. She told me things that were the opposite of what was said in my discharge papers. Biopsies were sent in but I was not told why. She said I had to take a medicine but wouldn't stay to answer my question about why I needed it. After the procedure, the nurse told me I couldn't use the bathroom because she only comes out for 30 seconds and if I missed her, I was out of luck. You can't make this stuff up! This is a person only about ego and money. Calling her a doctor feels wrong as that would imply an interest in her patients and a desire to improve their health, instead of causing them discomfort and stress. Buyer beware! read more

My wife has put up with Dr. Mullen's apathy for years. She is so slow to respond and just puts added stress on her staff with the added phone call backs to get answers. My wife has not been able to keep anything down for two weeks. Over a week ago, Dr. Mullen ordered two stool samples, but when we went to the lab to pick up the kits, she hadn't even put the order in the system. Ae called the office yesterday asking for advice of going to the ER for hydration. It was 3 p.m. and Dr. Mullen was already gone! Often when we call, Dr. Mullen has already left for the day, even hours early! I strongly recommend finding a different GI doc who cares for their patients! read more

OMG - READ DR. CYNTHIA MULLEN'S REVIEWS! - DODGED A BULLET - Was told by her staff Dana that Dr. Muller could not complete a test I needed and I would need to see the other doctor in the same office. Dr. Muller held the message on her desk for over a month. When I called back for the 5th. time Danella stated, "Dr. Sharma said, "you can't see him because they don't share patients." This is the worst practice I have experienced in my life and I work in healthcare. I wish I could give you one reason to stay away from her practice but there's too many concerns to list. The first visit went fine and I was fine with our initial visit. The problem arose when I needed a refill after my initial visit in early November 2021. We discussed reducing my dosage in my initial visit but the speciality pharmacy had an issue with her Prescription dosage. I called the office about six or seven times in November and December. They kept telling me they were going to get it corrected. In mid-December I wrote her an email about the script. In January 2022, I called my last physician in Oregon to get an emergency refill, and I let Dr. Mullen office know that I had to do that because the script was still not fixed on their end. I called another 7-8 times in January and February. Dr. Mullen answered my December email on February 22nd. She instructed me to call her office manager. My last phone call was with the office manager who was rude and she offered no new information or reasoning except Dr. Mullen's is in Europe. Really, are you serious??? I hung up and found a new doctor in a few days. I've already had an appointment and he knows how to use an electronic health record and respond to a patient email. Run...look at her record and other former patients experiences. She's at a minimum an uncaring doctor and her staff are either unable or unwilling to give appropriate care to their patients. read more

Cynthia Mullen is beyond unprofessional. If you are thinking about booking appointment with her, please save your time and Don't Do It. Her office called on the day of my appointment while I was driving to her office. They said that Mullen can't see me ever. I asked why, they said it's because I had seen another John Muir Gastroenterlogist in the past and they don't want to see each other's patients! I vaguely remembered that I saw this Gastroenterlogist called Rishi Sharma years ago. How am I gonna remember all the doctors that I have seen over the years for different reasons? I asked Mullen that I already took off a day from work to see her, can they at least see me today and I will go back to Sharma after. They let me wait a bit and then replied no, they don't want to step on each other's toes. I was so shocked by their lack of empathy and ridiculous response. I strongly encourage you to not see either Mullen or Sharma for this reason. They are doctors, although they can refuse the right to see a patient, but they shouldn't force the patient to stick with a specific person. read more

She punctured my colon!!! I developed an infection and went to the emergency room with a high fever the night after the colonoscopy. Had to spend a couple nights in the hospital. The doctor said I could've died had I not gotten to the emergency room when I did. read more

What a nightmare. I've been dealing with IBS and called here to make an appointment. I mentioned I had seen another Gastro and they weren't at all helpful (sexist old man who told me my symptoms wouldn't bother a man!) She then said that because I had seen someone else (since they have a month 2 wait and who can wait that long??), they wouldn't see me for the rest of the year. What the hell kind of policy is that? Extremely rude and uncaring receptionist, she shouldn't be working in health care or at all if she cares that little about helping people. With all the other bad reviews, though I'm glad I didn't book an appointment with them! Can't speak to the doctor herself but stay away from this toxic place, they're just like every other crappy doctors office out there, no exception here. read more

Dr Mullen has no business being a physician. She lacks any presentation of caring or compassion. Everyone in medicine knows that a good H&P is the backbone of providing good care and diagnostics. Almost before I spoke she said "I'm sure this has been going on for a long time, don't talk, I'll be asking the questions I want know"....wow!! She then proceeded-telling me that SIBO is the new buzz word (really--it's been around for years!! there are many experts and great information available). Then told me the importance of fiber- i have a damn near close to perfect diet; and then proceeded to have her staff print a low fiber/residue diet instruction sheet out for me as I left the office...why? Her attitude is dismissive, unprofessional-eye rolling and sighing, and generally lacks any desire to help. If she ever reads this review my bet is she'll have a 'whatever' attitude. When my test results came in-she had her staff call me with the results. All done-I could never recommend this MD to anyone. read more

I have to say when I was referred to Dr. Mullen I was skeptical because of some of the reviews I read. Over the years I have had numerous medical issues and quite a few surgical procedures . Understandably so I have dealt with many doctors. I have never met a doctor with the bedside manner of doctor Mullen. Very professional, comforting, kind and caring doctor. It is very refreshing to see a doctor be so compassionate and dedicated to finding what the problem is and make you feel better. Thank Dr. Mullen for being by my side today. I had a really bad experience with Dr. Cynthia Mullen, and her staff at Shadelands Endoscopy. My experience went beyond bad service, into the realm of malpractice. There was no informed consent. My health care information and history was not kept private by staff. And other than a pleasant receptionist, I found the staff unfriendly and unhelpful. I would not recommend Dr. Mullen, or this facility. I am still considering a complaint against her with her medical board, it was that bad. read more

Dr. Mullen is an amazing physician. She always has listened to my concerns. I have been her patient since I was 18. I have an autoimmune disease and I have been experiencing GI symptoms for years. She ran all of the tests, even a colonoscopy and endoscopy (which was not too bad of an experience with her office). The first time around came back regular, but her office still scheduled a follow up every year since then. Two years later and I went for colonoscopy round two. Still awaiting results and her office has been so helpful. She is very available to her patients. I am very happy with her care plan and how she takes my previous conditions seriously, regardless of my young age. read more

I got my first colonoscopy and the doctor appears to be expert in the detection of polyps. That's much appreciated by me, as a person with a family history of cancer. By contrast, I do think the clinic itself appears to be challenged in its administrative management and possibly poorly run. I could hear a manager discussing personnel issues out in the floor where I waited (for a long time, since the doctor had a patient with many issues ahead of me and patients were lined up like a human factory assembly line. The issue discussed loudly pertained to a nurse whose paperwork (I-9) got lost in a system by another employee. The manager also was (in a somewhat sexist manner) counseling the nurses on the flow of patients and how to handle the flow of patients. He actually mentioned female hormones, in admonishing the nurses. In any case, I appreciated the doctor's expertise, but I definitely question the administration of the clinic itself, which is separate from the high quality medical care I believe I received there. read more

I had my first colonoscopy yesterday. I was referred by my general practitioner who said Dr. Mullen was great. Sure enough, I had a great experience especially considering my lack of excitement about the procedure itself. The booking process was simple and I was given a choice between 2 locations for the consult. The receptionist booked my appointment and directed me to the website for the required forms to bring. At the consult, the Dr. sat down with me and told me what to expect in terms of process. I was given the choice of 2 locations for the procedure. Finally, the procedure itself was well-organized with attentive staff, and, when I woke up, she explained that everything went well.
