First and foremost, all elevators were broken and have been for 1.5 years!! Never mind not telling anyone until after they book you on 3rd floor. Beautiful place but the current owners have given up. A/C leaked in our room and the water covered 1/2 the floor (this is a suite). They never came to clean or bring towels. The pool was a lovely shade of sea foam green. The restaurant was out of EVERYTHING! This was the beginning of 4th of July vacation!! They don't have enough staff to keep this place going. The front desk person was quite literally rude and has a superiority complex. They put 3 couples in 3 different areas of the grounds. (Had to drive to get there) The blessing of this entire trip is Brandy! She is so sweet and gives great customer service.... I hope the new owners reward her! If you like a friendly welcome and beautifully working accommodations, this place is NOT for you! Staying at the hotel for a golf tournament next door, we arrived before 4:00 and asked to check in. After the man at the front desk looked up from his cell phone, his only response was, "We can't check anyone in until 4:00." Then he walked away. He eventually allowed us to check in at 3:55 and we dragged our things through the hallway on a broken hotel cart. (Every one of them we tried was broken.) Other notable incidents: The housekeeper took her shoe off and killed a bug against the window while I walked behind her down our hallway. There is no Wi-Fi in the rooms. The sprinkler head in our room was hanging through a hole in the ceiling. Our smoke alarm was dangling from wires out of the wall. The AC was out in the Spa. They were short on towels. Bathtub is below floor level, concave and slippery. Use the grab bar! (Our 20-year-old daughter almost wiped out!) Landscaping was full of weeds, empty pots and trees that hung down, blocking the sidewalk. Walkway ramp is made of old, uneven boards. Common spaces were HOT. Dinner service and food were both seriously bad. On the upside: Our room temperature was very comfortable. Emily at the bar hustled and took care of the bar and dining room by herself. She was great. Karen, in the spa, was fantastic. Superb massage! The hotel is set on the most beautiful part of Toledo Bend Lake. Spectacular views! Everyone I heard talking was voicing similar complaints and discussing that a group who cares could really make this a fabulous destination. If you go to the lake, find a nice VRBO. read more

Hotel and restaurant staff was nice. The grounds are gorgeous. The sitting area behind the foyer is a great place to sit and enjoy the sunset. The groundskeeper does a fantastic job of caring for the plants. That's where the good review ends. The first hotel room stunk like urine. The second room smelled fine but had water damage in the ceiling and rust on the plumbing fixtures. It needs a complete renovation. The ac did not cool well. Beds were not comfortable. The outside of this resort is beautiful and clearly where the money's been spent. Indoors is an entirely different story. Our room was dated and dirty. The hallways had a very damp smell to them and the King size bed included 4 pillows that were all in different size and pillowcase quality. Would stay here if I had time to enjoy the golf course or water activities but the spa and restaurants and pool were closed so if you want to do any of that - call ahead before you book! read more

Okay. This resort has been through a lot...a serious lot. I've been here off and on (even hosting my daughter's wedding here) throughout the past 4 years, and I'm happy to say that Cypress Bend is back! The restaurant still is slow and they're perpetually out of crab cakes, but the staff is trying. Really trying. Which is saying a lot. Room was clean, hallways are clean, and the outside gardens are making their way back. When the golf course comes back online, I'm excited to see it come back to its former glory. Grounds were nice and receptionist was not rude. This hotel is in need of a renovation. First room had some kind of dryer with chords everywhere and a very musty smell. The second room was not much better. Water was tepidly lukewarm. It's shocking that this hotel carries any brand name. I hate to say the room wasn't clean but it felt dirty. The restaurant at this resort was horrible. 1 Star. The service was no existent, out of various food and wine and had to chase down servers to order and then didn't receive some of the food we had ordered only to be told they we out of it after the other people's food were delivered. What we did receive was something you would get at a roadside diner. The hotel itself was average. The rooms had marks and stains on the walls and water damage in the bathroom. I was thankful to only stay here one nite as it was not a pleasant experience. read more

I had the opportunity to stay at Cypress Bend BW twice recently, it has been my first stay in many years. The grounds and golf course are just as beautiful as I remember. This is the perfect resort to "get away" in Louisiana, almost doesn't feel like Louisiana. The rooms could be updated, they still have the feel and look of the original rooms. Quite possibly everything is original. I also feel the menu is over priced for the quality food served. The area is very limited on other dining options, the next option would be drive 20+ minutes. My encounter with staff members was what you would expect in small town Louisiana, very helpful and friendly. Overall I look forward to my next opportunity to visit this resort. read more

We were in the area looking at lakefront properties and needed a base to conduct our search from. We got a great deal from Expedia and stayed at the resort. It is evident that the place is undergoing a major renovation, but overall it is very nice. Our room was spacious, quiet, and clean. Everything worked as expected. The golf course is undergoing a major renovation, so its not playable now, but it will be great when it is back in operation. It runs next to Toledo Bend and has water views from most every hole. There were almost no other guests at the time, so we did not experience any delays in service. The Bass Masters Tournament was coming in while we were there, so it filled slowly. We left before the big crowd came. I've read a few reviews that complained about the "slimy water". Apparently those people have never experienced truly soft water before. It is awesome. The water is so soft it leaves your skin feeling soft and clean with no soap scum or anything else. For those who have never experienced truly soft water before, it does seem like you can't get the soap off your skin, but that is the lack of any minerals in the water. The staff was excellent. Very friendly, accommodating, and willing to do most anything we asked. You don't find that often. We were not in any hurry, so were able to chat with people and heard their stories of working at the resort, some for as many as 10 years. We will definitely be back when we are in the area again and need a place to stay. I would give the hotel 5 stars except there is still work to be done on the outside and on the gold course. Nothing that bothered us in the least, but still not 5 star like the Ritz Kapalua (our favorite hotel in the world). read more

Best Crab Cakes I've ever had. Wonderful and always amusing conversation with Chef Michael and Nichole was an engaging and fun presence at the bar. Fantastic steak with fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes, I certainly would recommend. Maybe a little hard to find at night for a first timer, but worth the trek. You can NOT go wrong with ANY of the pies, either. Would be a great karaoke venue or nightcap. There are pool tables in the lobby as well. read more

Leaves a lot to be desired. For as much as you pay to stay here, they could definitely update things. The rooms are not the nicest, the beds are completely uncomfortable. There are certain areas the definitely need updating and repaired. The housekeepers were great, the front desk staff were not, they were very rude. The restaurant has good food, but is HIGHLY overpriced. The wait staff was good, but whoever works the kitchen needs to work on their time management. One evening it took over a hour to receive two burger and fries. We were one of only two couples in there at the time. There was another night where we walked out after waiting over an hour, and were told they weren't sure when our food would be ready. We weren't the only ones to walk that night. If your looking for a great place to stay on the lake, look elsewhere. read more

We have been coming to this resort for over 15 years, and I can truly say that the problem with the resort is the staff and management. They simply don't care. You walk into the dining room for breakfast, and the waitress stands up from playing on her phone and yells, "Sit where you want. The buffet is $12.99. Never gets up to offer you anything. Back in its heyday this place was amazing. There were 3 older ladies who ran the dining room and your cup of coffee. It was never empty, and everything was clean. I had truly thought things were turning around last year when they hired a professional chef and had an awesome waitress named Sissy. She worked circles around the other staff and was very personable. The chef would actually come out and mingle with the guests to ensure they were satisfied with their meals. Unfortunately, they have both been fired, and the staff they have now is truly a joke. This place could be a gold mine with the right management, but they have not had that for years. The hotel is in desperate need of a makeover. I had hoped that with Wyndham purchasing the property, their standards would have increased but not as of yet. read more

We live close by so this is more of a Staycation for us . We love the social room and live music on the weekends. The heated indoor pool and hot tub are also a wonderful feature that our daughters loved. The rooms could use some updating but overall they offer what you need for an overnight stay . The hotel sits on a beautiful golf course. The lobby is very nice, with a pool table and lounge. The pool/hot tub was also nice. The hotel atmosphere is also quiet. That's the only positive points about the place. The room was musty, dirty, and hot when we arrived. When we notified the staff they scoffed at us and said that because we had booked the room from a third party site, we could cancel and leave if we had a problem. The restaurant that is operated by the hotel is double the prices of other local fare. We waited twenty minutes with no service before we left and went to town dinner. When we notified management about the restaurant experience they shrugged it off too. This place has the potential to be great, if the staff would be willing to get off whatever egotistical trip they're on and show some better customer service and housekeeping. Trust me BW, you don't have the nicest place in the area, by far. I now know why your prices are so affordable. No one would pay anything more for such an attitude towards customers. read more

This place has 0 customer service. I had 2 reservations for the same night, both made within minutes of each other. 1 said check in was at 3. Other said check in was at 4. No big deal. We had a wedding at 5:30 in the area and planned to check in, get ready and go. 5 hours before check in we were told that check in was not until 6 because a "large group" had requested a late check out. We were then offered the bathroom off the pool area to get ready which apparently they offered to many other involved in the same wedding. After the wedding we drive back to hotel to check in and come to 1 room with no shower curtain and 1 room with no hot water to speak of. This place is an absolute joke and only cares about receiving the payment owed. DO NOT STAY HERE! read more

Wayyyyyy overpriced for what you get! 1) I was put in the old golf suites which is a detached section of the hotel down the road. 2) my room keys did not work, but luckily the maintenance guy was in the hallway. He went out of his way to go to the main hotel and correct my room keys, so kudos to him!!! 3) I got an old room (late 80's style), where the bathtub drain was sooo clogged, I was standing in ankle deep water within 2 minutes...gross!!! 4) This room was $150/night!!! I am only giving 1 star because the maintenance guy did his best and helped me out. read more

Although the grounds are pretty and the restaurant was tasty, the accommodations and front desk staff leaves much to be desired. Certainly wasn't a resort experience and not nearly worth the cost. Torn wallpaper, ripped out baseboards, black tarps covering stuff, and luggage carts that are falling apart. Then we checked in and arrived at our suite. It was in a building down the road separate from all the amenities - kinda weird. Our room had overflowing trash cans, wet towels in the bathroom, no toilet paper, and one made bed and one stripped bare. Called the front desk. Someone says, "Oh, the housekeepers must have left for the day without finishing." We'll send you keys for another room. Get to our second room and half the electricity is out. Called again. They send a maintenance guy who figures out the tripped breaker and leaves. Resetting the breaker turned on the fireplace. Front desk can't tell us how to turn it off. It was 95 degrees outside. Then 9pm we're snuggled on the couch. In walks another family through our locked door! The front desk had given them keys to the room we were already in. Needless to say we were all very embarrassed. The front desk tells us to tell the other people just to wait while they sent new keys. Me, wrapped in a blanket, relaying messages for the front desk staff! A family apologizing and waiting in the hall with all their stuff, kids, etc. The next morning we go to check out and the lady tells us our stay was comped because of the issues. We thanked them. Well it's been a couple days and the charges have not been refunded. I'm not sure who's in charge here, but someone needs to train the staff in customer service and hospitality. We arrived looking forward to a relaxing getaway but that's not at all what we experienced. Update: one night has been comped; I increased my rating to 2 stars. read more

The guest relations lady was awesone. She did something for me she didn't have to. That's a value unseen these days. The young lady during the day and evening at the desk and staff at the restaurant were extremely helpful and friendly. The guy that works at night is a little grumpy but he works graveyard shift so who can blame him. Maybe he was just having a bad day. Outside the resort the scenery and landscaping was breathtaking. So beautiful we decided to have our wedding here. Inside the resort needs some serious updates. The gym has no water in cooler and both water fountains are broke and the thermostat is set on 82. So no need to use the dry sunnah. Food was great at restaurant. The king suite we paid $260 a night for was a flashback to the 1980s with exception of the 2 flatscreens. Theres tons of dead love bugs and beetles everywhere which is a plus because it means the pesticides are working. Only thing I would say thats needs serious attention is cleanliness of rooms. The cleaning staff should be replaced. Not going to go into any details and nothing major was wrong it just needs to be way cleaner. I recomend the resort. I wouldn't shell out money for the suite. Instead stay in a regular room because the are very reasonable for the money. read more

This resort was not what we expected. The room was nice and clean, as you'd expect from such a place with the exception of some dirty pots and pans. Unfortunately it wasn't very sound proof. We could hear the teenage kids in the next suite over all evening. When we talked to the front desk about our dissatisfaction, they were not concerned or didn't offer to move us or them. They just said they were experiencing a few problems with card keys so that was the reason for the excessive noise. The areas outside the room were not quite as nicely kept as the room. The hallways were dirty and had some of the carpet missing. They stairwell appeared like a maid hadn't cleaned or vacuumed it in years and had spiders and webs everywhere. There were hundreds of dead bugs on the window sills in the stair hall. The pool was a fun bonus for the kids but the water was murky and dirty with all sorts of thing floating around in it. There were spider webs in the pool room all over the ceiling, almost a disturbing amount. My husband is a big nfl fan and since the game was on when we arrived, he wanted to catch a bit of it on tv. The TVs were old lcd's and the reception was what you'd expect on an old tube tv. It was grainy and hard to even see where the ball was. Both TVs were the same with reception so I'm assuming it's the norm there. We called the front desk and they said the maintenance man would come look but no one ever showed up to even check things out for us. On a more positive note, We got the suite for my husbands birthday and when I made the reservation I let the staff know that it was for his birthday. When we arrived to our suite, they had a happy birthday banner, card, and small gift for my husband. It was such a sweet gesture. Overall, the suite was nice, but the place as a whole wasn't very well kept. With the exception of the birthday surprise, we were quite disappointed in the resort. read more
