Sitting in my car, I already felt the anxiety building because dental visits can be nerve-racking for me. When I checked my appointment again, I realized I was actually scheduled at Fair Lakes Family Dentistry, so I drove over hoping this experience would be different. The moment I walked in, the beautiful lobby and welcoming staff immediately shifted the tone. A.D., the dental assistant, called me back and introduced herself with such warmth that my guard began to lower. Our conversation felt natural and calming, which helped me relax before the appointment even began. Then I met Corey, the dental hygienist. When he spoke, I noticed his accent and asked where he was from. When he said Memphis, I smiled instantly--because I'm from Memphis too, born and raised. That small moment of connection turned what could have been a stressful appointment into something much more human. Corey listened as I shared my past dental concerns and experiences. His empathy, patience, and attentiveness made me feel like a person, not just a patient. As a counselor, I deeply value when professionals create a space where someone feels seen, heard, and respected. Corey did exactly that. Even during the procedure, everything was handled with gentle care and reassurance. Instead of feeling tense the entire time like I normally do at the dentist, I actually felt safe. If you're someone who feels nervous about dental visits, I highly recommend Fair Lakes Family Dentistry. When I declined, I asked for a standard cleaning--the reason I scheduled the visit--but was told they would not perform it because the dentist had already diagnosed periodontal disease. So I left without receiving any cleaning at all. What really raised a red flag: when I said I couldn't afford the treatment, they suddenly lowered the price. By then, the trust was gone. The whole experience felt more like a sales pipeline than a dental visit. Afterward, I saw multiple reviews describing the exact same situation. DONT GO HERE!

It is not in my dental network, so all costs are outta pocket but when I tell you I will gladly pay, I mean it. I had my first visit 6 months ago and from the moment I walked in, I was at ease. During my initial phone consultation I explained my dental anxiety and past experiences with dentists (within my insurance network), and how my fear may make it seem like I'm an unfavorable patient. The attendant immediately calmed me and explained what I would likely experience during my checkup, and they would make sure my visit was pleasant. This office DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
