My golf buddy of 50 years and I have been fortunate to grow up playing this golf course has both our dad's were in the Air Force ... We played yesterday, June 1, and I've got to tell you it is in immaculate condition !!! weather was incredible and just complimented the fact that it's well manicured and the greens are true, even though the greenskeeper had some wicked pin placements ! Agreed that the pro shop staff members can be a little salty from time to time not very welcoming ... But for $45 with the cart, you cannot find a better place to play golf in the area ... Nice gem of a course located in the back stretch of county roads in Vacaville and Travis AFB. At first glance, appears it should be a reasonable course to navigate, but the traps, length, greens and wind add plenty of factors to challenge golfers at every level. The rates are very respectable, I paid under $50 for 18 and a cart on a holiday, and that was without an added discount if you are active or retired military. For after the round, The grill is quite spacious with plenty of seating, TV's showing golf, and a variety of food options and refreshments (both alcoholic and non) at equally reasonable rates . Went out to have lunch and play as a single. As I was eating lunch, no one teed off. I went into the pro shop at 12:20 and asked if there was room for a single. "Not until after 1:00 pm" I was told. " Fine" I said and reached for my wallet. " Stand aside! I've got all these people to check in!" I looked around and there was one person in the pro shop. Whatever. I went out to the putting green and no one teed off for the next 40 minutes. At one o'clock 4 foursomes went to the first tee. I just left. I don't know if it's a good old boys club out there or what but I suggest if you want to play, book a time in advance so you are not at the mercy of the jerk in the pro shop. read more

First time playing Cypress Lakes Golf Course. It's connected to Travis AFB...approx 5 miles from the base. The price is right especially if you have a Fes Govt ID. The driving range has both mats and grass to hit off of. Today, it was grass and decent shape. The course is in great condition w the greens rolling true and fast. The back 9 is challenging. I was very disappointed in this course. I waned to take my husband golfing for his birthday. We're military and honestly are always so busy we don't get to go often enough. I called at 6:30 am was put on hold before even saying hi. Was on hold for 10 minutes before i hung up and called back. Got through right away and tried to book a noon tee time. They couldn't accommodate, which no big deal we can go later. But the guy wasn't super helpful and I was clearly bothering him. Again whatever no big deal, I'm excited to golf with my husband and no kids. We get there check in was friendly enough, grabbed our cart and got to the first hole. The course marshal told us to go with another two guys and we said sure. The guys were really nice and we all were having a good time. The first 9 was incredibly slow. A lot of walkers in front of us. We didn't mind but the people behind us clearly did. After the first 9 we grabbed a couple of drinks and asked the guys behind us if they'd like to go ahead. Then we continued. Another set of two guys got right on our rear and were literally hitting before we were even on the green on a par 3. Their balls landed at our cart and feet more than once. On hole 12 we had the marshal roll up to us (a group of 4 mind you) and say we were holding the three groups behind us up and needed to play best ball because we were playing fast enough or good enough. Honestly was pretty taken a back because yes we're not great but we're not much slower than anyone else that's average. I said sure and he left but at that point my day on the course was ruined. He took the fun out of the game and competition. Of course we're going to holdup groups of 2 when we're a group of 4! I stopped playing and we played best ball to the point we caught up to the guys in front of us. Honestly I get etiquette and not holding people up and if we were holding another group il I would have done as I did prior and offered them to go ahead. But to call and complain and have a marshal come and tell us we're holding people up was crazy and I've played at some really nice courses and honestly went a whole lot slower than today because THATS GOLF. You get to enjoy it. And instead we were made to feel like we had to play speed golf because of two dudes that were impatient with a group in front of them. read more

I golfed there often because of the tee time available and cheap. Its a long drive though from SF but I don mind twice a month. Just to get away from the city. I don' understand other ppl complaining about rude old men in the pro shop. What do u expect for that price? LMAO The exterior is a little run down and the range is not something to brag about. Course is decently priced for what you get. However, I've played here dozens of times and I'd say about 60% of the staff are incredibly rude. Maybe it's because I'm younger, but they make you feel so little. I consider myself to be very polite. I work in the service industry and am a huge advocate of treating people with respect. Some of these folks don't feel the same. They act like they don't want to be there and you are an inconvenience. This isn't everyone, but those who are this way really make me want to never come back. I'd rather pay a little more at Paradise Valley and be treated decently. read more

Condition of green or fairway is not great. All bunkers are covered. Repeat -covered- with this strange looking fly that would bite . My daughter was so scared to hit her bunker shots because she was afraid of being bitten . Will not go back again if it wasn't for her junior tournaments. read more

This is a good golf course. Once you walk in to sign up they seem to know what they're doing. But of course as a first timer I did not know what the heck I was doing. So I rented golf clubs from them. But now I see why people get their own set of clubs. That way you know what you need to use to play. I just did not know that they cost so much. But I plan on starting with a lower range set once I get better then I can get The good stuff. The course itself is not too bad and there are Porta potty's in various places for you to use the restroom or throw something away. At one point in time my golf court died on me on hole number seven. It was way on the far end of the course I called in and said hey I need a new card this one is dead. A few minutes later he said just leave it we will take care of It. My recent visit to this golf course was far beyond unpleasant for me and my party. To begin, the entire staff was extremely rude and condescending to us. For one, the cashier lacked any sort of decent customer service and clearly expressed unnecessary frustration when simply asked for some assistance. In addition to the unfriendly staff, some of the other players we encountered made our visit awful. They filed complaints against my party, and even swore, cursed, and threatened us. When attempting to explain the situation, the Marshall disregarded anything we had to say and sided with the other players since they were "regular customers". To take things further, the Marshall made inappropriate comments and worst of all, confronted and approached us closer than 6 feet, without a mask, on several occasions, which clearly violates CDC guidelines. He said things that were clearly out of line, made me especially uncomfortable with his targeting words, and handled the situation we were in very poorly. I came to this golf course to have a great time and instead, was left feeling dissatisfied and extremely disappointed. I would definitely recommend finding a better place that will treat you decently for supporting their business. read more

Gave this place one star as I feel that is generous based on our experience. My husband is a 20 year veteran. He found the course and was looking fwd to playing as it gave him some military nostalgia, it being toted as a military adjacent course. We got checked in early and bought a couple items in the shop. The gentleman that checked us in had a funny kinda sarcastic humor that my husband and I enjoyed. We got our carts and waited for another couple to meet us and get started. One of them has some disability issues. They let us start a few minutes early. We let the 1st Marshall know my friend has disability issues, then off we went. In fact, we encountered several Marshall's on the course because they watch you like you're what I would imagine to be an inmate on yard time. My husband asked a question to a marshall and was told to be quiet because he wasn't listening to the answer the guy was continously repeating, delaying our get back to playing. We were slower than some of the other golfers. So when asked we let them play through. The course was OK, very soggy in places and the pathways have not been kept up and are in desperate need of maintenance. This happens when you use asphalt for paving instead of concrete, the latter being more expensive to do. Even decomposed granite would be better for the pathways then what they have. The lack of maintenance with the asphalt makes for an uncomfortable ride. We got to the 9th hole and my friend and I needed to use the restroom. The restrooms on the course are disgusting. The doors don't shut all the way, there didnt seem to be any lighting and they are not supplied well. They kind of look like little bunkers that were neglected from some war or something. So we left our husband's to continue as we did not want to hold up the pace of play and would catch up after we used some cleaner facilities. When we got to the clubhouse we were approached by a Marshall who said we were taking too long and he had a tournament behind us and we needed to leave and they would give us a refund. Having worked on golf courses, planned and attended tournaments, l have NEVER been asked to leave in the middle of play. Nor would I have EVER asked a player or their party to leave. There could have been several different work arounds that would have been better customer service and a better all out experience on this course. Had we been informed that there was a tournament that day, we would have booked a different day. Or only paid for 9 holes instead of 18. I went in to get a refund. When I was at the counter I was told I would get a credit. Um no. No credit as that would require us to come back, which isn't going to happen. So they started the refund...$54.00. I paid $180.00. When I said shouldn't the refund be $90.00 as we only did 9 holes and paid for 18? The gentleman that was funny at check in, wasn't funny anymore. He scolded me saying the time it was taking us to get thru the course was too slow and unheard of. I said no its not I just played elsewhere last weekend and it took the same time. Plus reviewers, let's not forget we had to wait to let some golfers play through as asked, which delayed our time. We thought we were being helpful, bur it ultimately led us to being told to leave. So again, had we of known there was a tournament we would have only paid for 9 holes and I wouldn't be out $36.00 for nothing but a bad experience. Needless to say, I won't be recommending this course to anyone any time soon. Nor will my husband to other military retirees. Anyone reading this that have any disabilities, shouldn't come to this course as they probably won't be moving fast enough. Us not coming back to this course isn't going to hurt the courses bottom line, nor is my $36.00 I got jipped going to affect mine. I can only hope that this review will help this course to do better. read more

Don't ever call this place if your trying to figure out how busy it is. They will tell you it's not and then when you show up, they will tell you it's backed up. This has happened to me twice already, especially on a weekday. When I have been able to play, the course isn't bad. It does get a little furry on the rough on some holes but overall it's not a bad course for the price. I'll just drive out to Davis golf course next time, they are super nice out there and always get me onto the course without any hassle. read more

Had heard about this course me and some close friends of ours scheduled a 4some marshals were rude .course is over policed unable to enjoy game..1/2 way through game we were asked to leave due to a tournament and were also told we took too long on the first nine holes .after we have let 2 groups go ahead of us per marshals request .when at counter to ask where restroom saw a line of golfers who were also asked to leave .talked to 2 golfers that were in line and also were told that they took too long and were asked to leave also were not happy .we are busy people who have difficult schedules and made time to play golf .needless to say will not be going back .so sad green tree closed read more

Back 9 is better than the front. No real elevation changes and no water hazards (they are empty). Cost exceeds what you would expect for a course of this quality. Best thing about this course is that you are able to get on almost whenever you want, so if you are short on time this is a place to go. read more

Why in the hell did I find myself playing a round of golf in the friggin' cuts of Vacaville? That is a story probably left for another time. In other words, please don't ask. After driving several miles on rural roads with tons and acres worth of farm living, surprisingly a golf course with trees emerge. Looked like it was going to be a fine enough of a day, maybe a good breeze to deal with, but fine nonetheless. Once past the second hole, the wind starts to really gust, like blow-your-hat off hard. Fine, I've dealt with wind in the past, but not when we were completely surrounded by hay fields. That combined with the wind set off my allergies like I had never experienced. Chronic sneezing, extreme running of the nose,burning irratated eyes could not be stopped even with some medication before the round. Ab-sol-ute-ly MISERABLE! Not only was my face a big hot mess, but it was hot as a cow's fart out there. I was sweating in places I didn't even know I could sweat. I was sweating more than a hooker in church. Dirty south hot. We managed to finish the round and despite the unfortunate circumstances, we actually enjoyed the lay-out of the holes. Mostly flat, but some of the doglegs were interesting. The greens were in really good shape, and it appeared this was the course for the neighboring Air Force base. Just too bad I had to find out that I am extremely allergic to playing golf in Vacaville. First time playing. Loved it. Played a 3-hour round on a Tuesday afternoon with two other people. No idea where the bad reviews are coming from, but most of the course was in great shape. Greens were very good. Yeah there were some dead spots here and there but never on the greens. Could be in better shape in some areas, but no golf course is perfect. Great walking course! Played here 3 times and enjoyed every time. Active/Retired have "walk-on" privileges at discounted fees and when you push your own cart $$$ is AWESOME! I've played 1 time in the dry... 1 time in the evening... and one time after a rain... Everytime, the greens are well maintained and tee boxes are good. Two weeks ago they were working on some fairways (vehicle tracks and new growth) but most holes were in great condition. IMHO... 8 out of 10 for local courses (Hiddenbrooke/Eagle Vines being 10). Lots of doglegs and some (slightly) elevated greens. Bunkers are well groomed and REAL sand, not compacted or concrete (even after the rain). I played one time with no wind... another time with strong winds, that eventually died out at the last 4 holes. Anyone that's been on the Fairfield/Vacaville area know that there's ALWAYS some sort of wind after noon. Pro Shop is okay. Wear RED on Fridays and get 10% off merchandise. Grill is good. Food is good. However, expect delays if you plan to stop at the turn... they aren't a super slow kitchen, but, they definitely are not fast. Because of the Military rates ($21-$25 depending on day/time) and it's a good walking course... I'm planning to play here more often. I usually play Mare Island, Blue Rock Springs East, Roddy Ranch, and Green Tree w/GolfNow rates. I am seriously considering $750 annual membership at Cypress Lakes. read more

This course is like a diamond in the rough, layout is interesting (especially back 9). They recently have been upgrading the facility, they have a nice lounge called the par lounge. The course condition has been steadily improving lately also. The greens are some of the best around. The all grass range is a plus too. read more
