Cant' drag me off this course.

HMB is absolutely one of the very the BEST golfing experiences you can have. Parking, easy for a resort course and valet if your into that. Pro shop... friendly staff and starters and the shop itself is stocked full of merch including Sunday Red. Snack bar for the grab and go folks and a restaurant that has specials daily with live music with bar seating looking out at the pacific! Two completely different course set ups can be found in the old and ocean 18s with the finishing hole on the old course being iconic. I recently reviewed another venue with wind that hampered my golfing day and yes. Depending on the day and the hour your out here, there will likely be some blowing. However, it is completely playable, actually it's pretty fun working your ball around the place on a course set up next to the Pacific where you'd expect to have gusts so a two club breeze is just that... completely acceptable. Love his place and would play it every week, green fee's are not offensive either when you consider what neighbors down the road on the Monterey Peninsula are charging these days. Spanish bay remodel is rumored to be over$650.00 PP when completed. I'm sorry but as a local, I'd rather play HMB hands down, save the cash and commute headache and you should too!

Stop reading reviews, just play. You won't regret. That's all I can say.

Stop reading reviews and book the tee time. Great course, great challenge, and I can't wait to go back

Played the ocean course. Stunning views. Wide open fields that go on forever. No houses along the fairways. Feels like Europe somewhere. It was so cold at 8am in November. Club rentals $75 come with sleeve of balls, but if you're a higher handicapper, bring more balls because the rough/bushes will take your balls. Highly recommend! I've played many ocean courses in Hawaii (Mauna Kea, Mauna Lani, Wailea, Turtle Bay, Kaneohe Klipper), but THIS COURSE was breathtaking in a whole new way.

Lost Kirkland Pitching Wedge from the Ocean Course! Please let me know if you may have accidentally picked it up. Thank you so much. This course was beautiful. We got really lucky with beautiful views and weather on a Sunday tee time 3 weeks ago. I will definitely be coming back and hope the weather was even half as good as it was when I played.

Half Moon Bay Golf Course is my favorite golf course so far. With the sea breeze blowing and the green grass, every moment of swinging here feels like a vacation.

I played the ocean course and my oh my.. what a beautiful course with amazing views. When we tee'ed off, it was foggy and I was a bit worried but by the back 9, sky cleared up and beautiful views.

Amazing Golf Course and views. Very well maintained. I would suggest starting earlier as it gets dark during the winter around 5pm so you'll be playing in pitch black. The driving carts are awesome as there's a screen with yards to hole. Pair that up with that nice ocean breeze, perfect! I need to come back here again ASAP!!

Played the ocean course and couldn't have been happier. It was dreary and felt like a day in Ireland on the links. The entire course was in great condition, the greens were fast, and the views (especially on the back nine) were spectacular. The course had its fair share of up and down as well as blind shots (a few too many for my liking). The fairways gave ample room for tee shots but could be punished by fescue and bushes for errant shots. Playing up the cart path side of each hole gave you a good angle to the various greens. The starters and marshalls were very pleasant and helpful. Holes 15-18 were truly world class and provided great views of the pacific. Only bummer is no driving range. Based on other reviews went to Ocean View public driving range b4 tee time but it was terrible & wouldn't recommend.

The second time I've had the privilege of playing this beautiful course. Half moon bay golf links is truly in amazing shape right now, seamless experience from the bag check in to the first hole. The only downside is that it does not have a driving range but the chipping, and putting area is well kept and pretty big. Huge thanks to Nate Hillman for the tips on the driving ranges around the area, knowledge of the golf course, and of course his kindness and hospitality made the day extra special. Can't wait to come and play again.

First time golfing at Half Moon Bay Golf Links Ocean Course. Grounds were beautiful and maintained. Hit into lots of bunkers and if you didn't hit the fairway, then the sides were long grass and couldn't find my ball! We purchased the once a year Golf Moose coupon to play Half Moon Bay Golf. Glad we did and would like to try the other course next time. The scenery itself is worth it. Hope to be back to golf this course again.

Save your money if golf in Scotland is a goal. Bag pipe sunset serenades, cool (ok...freaking cold ocean breezes); the course with moguls of green, undulating endlessly hugging up to the rugged pacific coastline, looking out west over the expanse of grey and white chop, the thought that Hawaii is somewhere out there would never enter your head. With a thick marine layer obscuring the location of the sun, it's more like your view is east, off the North Sea and venturing off the coast will land you in Norway Denmark or the Netherlands. The south course challenges your skills at every corner. However as long as you hit it straight you can score pretty well. (I was 12 inches from an eagle on #8 par 5) The cool weather wreaked havoc on the cart batteries as may were dead by 14th hole. The staff was really scrambling to keep up. But they were quick accommodating, under the circumstances. FYI the club house closes at 7 and the Hotel only serves guests of the resort. So either get done early or bring some thing to eat, the hit at the 10th hole was closed. We only saw the refreshment cart once on the 15th hole

Location wise, short walk to the putting area and club house. The only drawback is it's a 2-story and no elevator. Good old fashion stairs with 2 landings before you reach the top. I watched a guest struggle, carrying HEAVY looking luggages to the second floor. My complimentary glass water bottle fell out of my purse and crash landed on the foyer floor as soon as we entered our room and I had to quickly use towels to sweep the shards and water before I can admire our space. I'm glad there was an abundance of towels as oppose to other hotels where it's an exact set on occupancy. Staff was attentive to get it cleaned up as well as provide an iron and board. They only offer steamer in the room. Our room is well appointed with nice calming colors. Loved how our room had a balcony. Not all upper units have one. A couple of inconveniences: the person below us had their music loud with bass during the day and then again during the evening around 10pm. I didn't call, as I was tempted to but only if it continued. They finally stopped at a decent time. The second was a first floor guest smoking weed. Some permeated through our window because I dropped my spoon on the floor (we ordered room service). It was verified when I opened the balcony door real quick to make sure it's what I smelled. We also experienced some odd protocols after we had a nice lunch at Mullin's (clubhouse). We thought it would be nice to have dessert at the outdoor ocean terrace area. We walked the grounds and asked if we can have a seat with shade. One staff went to check, however once I mentioned we were looking at getting dessert, the hostess turned it around and said for us sit at the bar or seating area beside the hostess stand. What was left were seats in the sun, plus in the seating area folks were sitting here and there. We wanted a table, which I did see there were some closer to the greens. I felt that as an overnight guest, it wouldn't matter dessert or meal, I'm a paying guest, not a visitor. So we left and went to check out The Conservatory. I checked in with the host and mentioned we'd like to have dessert (I was asked if any allergies) and was asked if we'd like the traditional seating area which would be a wait. We waited and got a table in the center. We got the menu and asked for the dessert menu. We were told not in that area, but the next one over. We were confused. I even saw the fake display dessert where we sat. And after all that waiting, we succumbed and just ordered food. Even with these oddities, we still had a great time. Staff provided excellent service. From check-in (Justin), adjusting keys for late check out (Stephen) to staff at Mullin's (we are there again before we left the property), golf staff, room service, to the front greeters at valet. The bag pipe performance, as he walked down the pathway was beautiful. The property views, just amazing!!!! We'd love to come back next year. The Ocean House would be the next spot.

Just be aware that overnight valet parking is $70 before taxes and gratuity. Check-in was a bit underwhelming. There were four front desk agents, but no one acknowledged us while we waited in line, and the process felt slower than expected. We were offered a glass of champagne during check-in, which was a nice touch, but the front desk agent didn't explain any of the resort amenities or what was included with the resort fee. We later noticed complimentary bikes available in front of the hotel, which would have been fun to use had we known about them. Our room was beautiful and located on the fifth floor with a lovely view overlooking the golf course. It was peaceful, comfortable, and definitely one of the highlights of our stay. Unfortunately, the in-room dining was disappointing. We ordered the linguine with clams, salmon with vegetables, two bowls of clam chowder, and two scoops of vanilla ice cream. The salmon portion was very small and lacked flavor. The clam chowder was overly salty and had very little flavor beyond the salt, making it difficult to finish. The linguine had only a handful of clams, and the noodles were also overly salty. Even the ice cream arrived partially melted because there wasn't enough ice to keep it cold. Overall, the food was just average, which is about what I'd expect from typical hotel room service. Despite the disappointing dining experience, we still enjoyed our stay. The property itself is beautiful, the room was excellent, and the staff we interacted with outside of check-in were friendly. I would absolutely return, but next time I'd skip the in-room dining and instead order Door Dash or dine at one of the many great restaurants in Half Moon Bay, where you'll likely find better food and better value. Venue: We held the ceremony and cocktail hour outside and the reception indoors. Guests loved the deck and waterfront views. It was a bit windy at first, but the deck blocked most of it. Our 3:45 PM May ceremony was shady, so I wouldn't recommend fans or parasols for the main lawn. There's also another ceremony area beyond the trees that looked sunnier, we used that area to take family formals. We had 7 tables inside, but it definitely can fit at least 8, though a few tables must be broken down for the dance floor. We used that space for younger guests, which worked fine. One of the biggest perks was the in-house catering and many inclusions, which made planning much easier. Not having to coordinate multiple vendors kept everything streamlined. From our first tour, Crystal and Lisa were wonderful. Crystal was especially helpful and was basically our wedding planner/day of coordinator. On the wedding day, she and the team even helped set up our DIY décor, which we really appreciated. We brought everything from SF, and they were very accommodating. The venue also has great coastal décor that fit our theme perfectly. Food: The complimentary tasting was fun! Trying the food, drinks, and picking linens made it feel more real. We didn't love the passed appetizers served that day, so we chose different menu items. Guests especially liked the clam chowder, mahi mahi, pesto penne, and hibiscus margarita! The tri-tip was a bit tough, but likely because of us pushing dinner to start a bit later. We also added stationed appetizers for cocktail hour and late-night flatbread. I'd suggest placing the flatbread on the deck instead of near the dance floor so guests can enjoy it more easily. DJ: We loved how connected the deck and reception space felt--you could step outside for a drink, still hear the music, and easily return to the dance floor. We chose Mark Addington from the venue's approved DJ list, and he was fantastic. He kept everything running smoothly and brought great energy to the celebration. Culture & Entertainment: We wanted to include a tea ceremony and lion dancing, and Maverick's House made both easy. The upstairs bridal suite was a peaceful setting for our tea ceremony, and the outdoor space worked perfectly for the lion dance. We were the first couple to have lion dancing at the venue, and we appreciated being able to do that. We're so grateful we chose Maverick's House and couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate our wedding!

Bottom line: If you want a space where smart people can gather and the ocean energy does half the work for you, Mavericks House delivers.
