He has been in a few rehab facilities in between being at home with full time caregivers. When he has been in other rehabs, the therapists, nurses, and doctors would decide to stop doing therapy, or try and get him out of bed, because they don't think it's worth doing anything with him. Before he came to Palm Garden, developed some really bed pressure sores over the course of the past few months. It's been decided his wounds are too bad to have wound care come to his home, so we had to make the decision to put him in another facility where they are qualified to care for his wounds. We ended up picking Palm Garden of Winter Haven. I thought he would get the same treatment that he had at other facilities, where they don't want to bother trying to get him out of bed, feed him by mouth, since he has a feeding tube. PALM GARDEN OF WINTER HAVEN, has completely taken us all by surprise in the BEST way possible! They get him out of bed everyday, and put him in his wheelchair. They take him to the dining room to eat most of his meals. Even if he is in his trancelike state, they still feed him by mouth as long as he is wanting to eat and swallows without any issues. They also do therapy with him several l times a week. The wound care team is top notch and doing everything they can to heal his wounds. My dad has days when he is alert, and will speak. Other days, he will be in his trance, but he still understands and will usually respond if he is asked a question. Palm Garden is the first place he has been that hasn't treated him like he is too far gone to even try anything with him. I know it takes a lot of patience, time and energy to get him out of bed and into his wheelchair, but they still do it. Their entire staff is so nice, from the office staff, CNA's, nurses, doctors, therapists, etc. They all treat my dad like his life matters. They are great at communicating with us when it comes to his care. We never have any issues trying to get in touch with any of the staff. Palm Garden goes above and beyond what is expected of them. When we come see our dad, it is clear he is being very well taken care of, and that means a lot considering he can't always speak for himself. I highly recommend this place!

This review is regarding the home health that is dispatched…read more Avoid using this joke of a home health company, They will call you at 9pm the night before and tell you what time they will be there the next day but are never on time. They come whenever they want to & will stay 15 minutes despite billing your insurance. You will need to have your animals locked up because despite working a job going into peoples homes, they act terrified as if a small dog is a lion or Tiger. The physical therapist will arrive dressed like he's headed to a construction site. The really disgraceful part though was their lack of empathy & compassion. When I notified the PT we needed to cancel due to my loved one being readmitted to the hospital for a stroke, he proceeded to continue to call to set up appointments to make his money. My loved one could have been dead and yet there was never even a thank you for having the courtesy to notify us or any concern for his well being.

They have daily physical therapy workouts and the weekend receptionist is the best ever, very friendly and respectful. They do close their front doors at 6:00 pm and you have to enter through the side door. They need several repairs both in the dining room which is very depressing to be, a repainting and artwork on the walls would do wonders for the morale both for the patients and the staff. They also need an overhaul in their kitchen. They need more fresh vegetables, fruit, and more edible nutritious food. They serve way too many meals loaded with carbs rather than healthy food. The door frames in and out to the outside patio need to be widened so the wheelchairs can exit and enter without causing patients to bloody their arms and hands due to not enough adequate wide door frames. They really do need a family room or adequate space to go to when family visits, as being in the small patient rooms is not good especially if patients are sick. This place needs an overhaul and a major redesign as it is a very depressing place. They do have daily activities for the patients but this should be a short-term place rather than a long-term place as people's mental health suffers here, sadly.

The weekend just 3 days before Christmas, although she wasn't able to get out of bed or wheelchair without help, hence the reason for her being admitted, she was talking and laughing, I have phone recording, the next evening we found her hanging half off the bed and unable to respond to us. she was torn up having bandages on both arms. We NEVER received a call regarding an accident, it most certainly required emergency medical attention, a CNA came into the room after waiting for response and my daughter having to track one down, she could not understand or speak English. A nurse came into, she too couldn't understand or speak English. Obviously the reason for not sending her to ER. When we contacted the Executive Director, he promised we could get written documentation, have in writing. Never got anything. They did nothing to medically help her or provide information. I will post about the death of my mother before Christmas 2025 until this Northeast coast owned facility is shut down. There are so few Spanish residents in this facility and it is horrifying knowing the care of our loved ones is for monetary benefit. DO NOT ADMIT YOUR LOVED ONE TO THE CARE OF THIS FACILITY! I held charge over a facility 10 years ago and the lack in this place is beyond horrific. See Google reviews with day before photo and respectful ti my mother, the way we found her 24 hours later. We still have yet to receive any documentation. Shut this place down!!

The workers were nice some of the time and other times they had attitudes. They also dismissed the wishes of the family. When asked for changes for who can make medical decisions for the patient, they ignored the family even though the family followed the directions given by the center. Hope this is not a regular occurrence, but if it is, this is problematic.
