I always end up with a lot of exercises to do after therapy is over and each time there are new things. It's great that they recommend getting a gym membership but then don't recommend a way to pay for that membership for someone who struggles to survive on disability. It's not something that anyone stops to consider unless they have actually been in that position themselves. On this run there is a therapist along with a person who is finalizing their training working with me. Each day I do what they tell me to do and do my best to work with them for what I can handle. When I come back from a next visit we talk about pain and issues I might have had on the following day from the last visit. They make adjustments as necessary and we continue. I'm only a few sessions in this time and will be back twice a week for 8 weeks before there is an evaluation. The downside is that I don't have all the equipment they have so some of the things they teach me I don't get to do unless I'm there. All the people I've ever met working here have been friendly and professional.

Her internal bleeding went undiagnosed for about eight hours despite glaring signs. Once imaging was finally ordered and active internal bleeding was confirmed, surgery was delayed for roughly seven more hours. In the meantime, the doctor ordered mass blood transfusion in an improper way that worsened her condition instead of stabilizing her, while failing to move the central line that was improperly placed and that the radiologist recommended be repositioned. HCA Healthcare has faced no consequences, and there is no way for people researching physicians through the Florida Department of Health (DOH), the medical licensing board, to see what happened to my daughter. Because she was 25, unmarried, and had no children, Florida's 'Free Kill' law strategically blocked me from pursuing legal recourse to ensure the hospital and its physicians are held accountable so the harm does not continue. I have NEVER given a 5* review to a hospital and I have been there and done that! But well deserve…read moredespite a few nuances. I am writing this review with the intention to follow-up with executive management on a very important issue that should be addressed in caring for elderly/disabled/autoimmune compromised patients. Let me make it clear that our national health system as a whole has yet to recognize the difficulties experienced by this population when admitted into a hospital setting and is fixed and grounded on predated standards and to recognize that "one size does not fit all." So, all and in all, this precursory review goes to staff and NOT policies, logistics and procedures overall. "For individuals with disabilities, hospitals must comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ensuring full and equal access to their facilities and programs. This includes making communication easily understood, ensuring physical accessibility, ..................and providing reasonable modifications of policies, practices, and procedures." From experience, and even when physicians determine these patients such as me need to be admitted to the hospital, we often find ourselves waiting for hours in pain and discomfort, not getting enough food or water, not moving around, not being helped to the bathroom, and not getting the kind of care doctors deem necessary. I had not eten from around 11:a.m. till Saturday around 9:00 a.m. I have major gastro issues. In my situation, I requested ADA accommodation at the onset on arrival at the ER. Not a single staff member it was to my surprise, was familiar with the term ADA or what accommodation entailed (providing reasonable modifications of policies, practices and procedurs). Not the lead nurse/charge nurse, doctor, no one! But I pulled it up on my phone so as to familiarize staff with what the law states and what I was asking for, none of which was out of the norm for my situation. Thanks to Ms. ShirleyAnn (RN) and the room nurse who last attended to me. The attending ER physician was exceptional. I am so sorry, some names escape me. I am a hard draw, so I had a few extra sticks. The first IV placed did not work.......nurse never realized right away. Second IV had to be placed. Only complaint I have on the actual ER floor was that buzzers for assistance were not being responded to. I had to actually call 3x to get the finished IV thing removed as blood was now pooling in it. That scared me, might not scare anyone else, but I had never experienced that. After several hours, I was transported to a room where I realized I would share with another patient a few feet from me. I explained to the nurse and lead nurse my situation and the accommodation request at the ER. They also were unaware and never heard of the term ADA Reasonable Accommodation (a practice across all businesses including hotels, housing, almost every aspect of life where individuals come in contact with service). Both were very kind, understanding and immediately worked diligently to move me to a room that was not shared and for that I am grateful and thankful. The transfer to another area resulted in a short-lived relationship with the initial staff and the new staff were excellent. My attending physician on 3rd floor exceptional. The morning (Saturday) staff was exceptional, professional, kind, understanding. I want to particularly ask that Nurse Chris be recognized for the best performance I have experienced in a hospital setting. Also, Patient Assistance lady s well. Kudos. Anyhow, too many meds at the same time for me with gastro has made be not too well. AS an advocate I am fully aware that the healthcare system in the U.S. is currently facing significant challenges in providing adequate care for elderly and disabled patients. A lack of training among healthcare providers and a bias towards treating disabled patients have led to a substandard level of care. This was not so here. Food gets a fail as correct orders never came. Fix that and the ADA issue and you're magnificent.

Once admitted into the hospital, all those nurses and medics were also extremely kind, attentive and treated family member with respect. The hospital is clean unlike some other hospitals I have been to in this county. I'm not sure why so many negative reviews. We have been to this hospital several times and have had nothing but a pleasant experience.
