After a one hour wait they will come back again with a $700 estimate never looked at the dog. My problem is if you were going to just give me an estimate based on what I said was wrong with him you could've told me that over the phone. These people are crooks. I even think they showed me some other dogs poop with worms that was not my dog. if you come in thinking your pet has a problem, they will treat your pet having the problem whether they have the problem or not. I'm never going back there again. They also made me feel like the rabies shot was about to get me locked up. Telling me I must pay a deposit.!! read more

Let me start by saying I have been a customer with them for almost 14 years. In the beginning it was a great place to go. They were always very attentive and went out of their way to give you all the information that you needed. When the original owner was gone everything went downhill. The vets won't even speak to you about your animal unless it is a dire emergency. The vet techs are a go between. Yet I continued to give them my business, until now. A few weeks ago my five-year-old Great Dane was very lethargic. We called the vet and they said we could bring her down. We took her down and three hours later we received a phone call saying that she was parvo positive. Even though there is a large sign in the office warning about a parvo outbreak, it appeared to be the last of the over $300 worth of tests that they ran. During the phone call we asked how they go about treating her and their response was we do not treat parvo here. You will have to take her to another vet. They also told us they no longer euthanize animals if need be. This was surprising to me as years ago we had a puppy who also came down with parvo and they treated him right there in the office. We went down to pick her up to take her to another vet and even though she had walked into the vet, she now could no longer walk and was being brought out on a stretcher. We quickly took her into the car and headed to another vet that could treat her and within five minutes she had passed away in the car. I just feel like a veterinary clinic should have the ability to do something to try to keep an animal in the situation alive. No options, no ability to help her at all. So after almost 14 years I will be looking for a new veterinary clinic and I would not recommend anyone take their furry family members here. read more

I would NOT RECOMMEND Cypresswood Animal Clinic, zero stars. My experience with Cypresswood Animal clinic was not a good one. I arrived at Cypresswood Animal Clinic at 12:40pm, appointment time was at 12:45pm, Friday September 8, 2022. I was with my already stressed out, newly adopted, rescued Maltipoo. I waited for an hour, after seeing how Cypresswood Animal Clinic treated their patients/ families. I left very disappointed that I had wasted my time. The waiting room was very small and it was packed full, standing room only with pets and people everywhere. This was my first visit to this clinic. I waited and watched the technicians and other patients interactions for about 45 minutes. A tech would come out to the patients/family and interview them in the waiting room area. The technician takes your dog behind closed doors, while you wait in the over capacity waiting room. The technician reappears 15-20 minutes later, back in the same waiting room, tells you what the doctor recommended, tells you how much they are going to charge you, ask if you approve and they makes suggestions and attempt to upsell product and procedures. Most of the family members asked questions about the Vets diagnosis, the tech would answer the best they could or they would disappear behind closed doors again, to ask the Vet your question/s, then come back out in the packed waiting room and discuss the doctors answers. Everyone sitting in the waiting room was able to hear every word of everyone's conversations, very insensitive to patient care or the family members love of their pet. After sitting there for too long, I could not understand this process, so I had to ask, "is this the way this clinic treats their patients?" I described what I had been experiencing, the concept of not being able to communicate with the Veterinarian directly, and, or go back with my Dog. The tech replied, "the rooms are too small, not enough room for the families to go back, so we get the information from you and relay it to the Vet, but if you want to talk to the doctor you can do so after we're finished". I thought that's strange, you have to wait until they're done? Other patients in the waiting nodded in agreement with my concerns. Instead of using my better judgement because I'd been there almost an hour, I waited. I watched 5 -6 different pets/ families go through this process, I felt embarrassed for them, and I surely didn't want to discuss my dogs complaints, their diagnosis, prognosis and cost in front of a room full of other pet owners, but I endured. It gets worse... I heard the techs ask 2-3 different families if they wanted their pets nails clipped, and if they did, Cypresswood Animal Clinic would refund the charge for that nail clipping, only if they would go to 2 different sites online, yelp and google and leave a 5 star review. After I had mentioned to a tech, and informed them of my reluctance to interview, prognoses and discuss cost in the waiting room: A tech walks out, calls my dogs name, but even worse than the other interviews with the patients before me, he was leaning against the front reception desk (10 feet away) he didn't even walk over to me and try to be discreet, he asked me "do I have any questions, what's going on" --by this time I'd had enough, I left disgusted. The only thing I got from Cypresswood Animal Clinic is a lesson--I will call first and ask their process, research reviews for any future Veterinarian I plan to use in the future. read more

My parents and I have been taking our pets to this vet since we moved to Houston in 1987. They have always been well cared for with no issues at all. Unfortunately, my mom had a horrible, completely opposite experience last week which matches many of the negative reviews I have read since then. If you'd like the following things, be sure to bring your pet to this place: - be asked to take home the wrong cat, - have a cat literally stuck behind cages overnight, - once rescued from being stuck, have your cat returned smelling of urine and be filthy dirty, - have your spouse called a liar, - be completely disrespected, - be threatened to have the cops called on you when you say "my cat better be alive when I come get him tomorrow", and - get serviced in a filthy dirty vet with exposed installation in the back. And all of this happened when my parents were trying to do the right thing to get two stray cats spayed and neutered. If I could give zero stars, I would. Be careful when you come to this location. They over charge, plus double charge fees on services they do not render. I advice you to go over your invoice before paying. When calling them to question my invoice, they gave me the run around for several day before acknowledging that they made a mistake. This place takes advantage of pet owners especially in times when they are most vulnerable. Find a veterinarian that is considerate to pet owners and that charges reasonable fees. read more

I met a lot of people here yesterday. They were all so nice....also I keep forgetting to ask for names or forgetting names jn general. I haven't seen the person who let me scan mr.sir's chip.... By the way to the Man who said I could scan it myself Thank you!!! I never got to do that before and it made me happy... (although Mr. Sir didn't like it very much....) ‍‍. WARNING!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF!! If you love your pets do NOT take them to this facility. If you want cheap prices , do your research PLEASE . There are many places that offer prices similar to them if not cheaper !! I took my 13 yr old dog to this clinic after what I thought was a good experience with my cats but shortly realized they change staff here like you change your dogs water bowl. With that said this visit yesterday will Be last visit I ever make and want nothing more than to warn people before you leave in tears and frustration and possibly loose your pet. I had a 2pm appointment (for him not having issues urinating & defecating) and sat in the visiting room 45 min before Dr. Vaughn decided to come in and speak to me. Mean while then entire time I am waiting I can hear every word of her and her staffs conversation in the next room over and in the area where they work behind the door. They forgot about me. When I say this dog is my baby , I completely mean he is my family and like a child to me. If I could take his pain and medical issues for him , I would. So when Dr. V comes in to the room 45 min later (after her 30 min visit and 15 min convo with her staff about a fight that took place in a bathroom where a child died) .. she walks in smacking her mouth and finishing whatever she just took a bite out of. She sits on the floor and gives my dog 4 min of her time and tells me he can't use the restroom because of arthritis. I agree my 13 yr dog has arthritis but I'm sure there is more going on internally and would think it's common sense to go over with me how things inside might not be working like they should at his age. Instead she brushes it off send a tech in 25 min later to get blood because I wanted his blood drawn and then comes back to tell me it only takes 15 min for the results. 10 Min later tech walks back in says sorry , Dr. V said it's going to be 50 min she has a problem with her daughter and had to leave . .. they will call me back an hour later. I check out $300 later & make a compliant with the lady at the front desk. She tells me " yah I would have walked out a long time ago" . " yah I don't know what goes on back there I'm stuck in the front all day" . No apology, no compassion. Clearly she is there to collect a check and go home (like that entire staff). After I've paid the tech runs out and goes "wait I forgot your prescription!" I look at her dumbfounded, what medicine? For what ?? ... for arthritis!! What a JOKE !! You think arthritis pills are going to fix his ability to use the restroom??? I leave and wait patiently for my call. No call . I call back an hour and 20 min later and Dr V begins to confront me on my complaint made with her staff . She did not let me Get one word in, she would not let me the paying customer speak , and was more offended that i called out the poor service I received than she cared to ever educate me on my dogs situation. I have never been treated worse by a staff than I did yesterday with these People. Dr. Vaughn exacts last words to me was , "well I'm sorry" - CLICK !!!!! she hung up one me. I was furious. She spoke to me as if I was her child and not a paying customer. I immediately called my parents (mind you I'm 32 ) and asked that they meet up there as we both have homes in the surrounding area . I ask them to meet me there because if this women spoke to me In person the way she did to me on the phone , I assure you it was not going to go well. We arrive ONLY to pick up my blood records. They give them to us and ask us to have a seat so the doctor can go over the results (something she didn't do over the phone cause she was too busy screaming at me) . We wait 30 min for them to come back out and say we are so sorry , she left out the back door and we just missed her. YAH , OK !!! ... I took my dog to another vet . Turns out my dog is having major prostate issues and has a cyst. If the cyst ruptures there is a chance I could loose him on the spot. I even called back today to apologize to her for loosing my patience with her and see about a refund for them wasting mine and my dogs time. Of course her unprofessional self did nothing but get on MY CASE AGAIN . Literally made me feel like I was in the wrong , once again. Thank you for your 4 mins of your life DR.vaughn to miss diagnose my dog !! I pray you don't continue your profession or treat anyone else they way you did me and my baby in the future . ‼PLEASE BEWARE OF CLINIC‼ Just want to share my experience with Cypresswood Animal Clinic. I recently took my 6 month old cat to Crpresswood Animal Clinic to have her spayed and vaccinated. And i regret taking her there and not doing enough research on the clinic. I took her in last Tuesday morning and picked her up that afternoon. My first sign that something was off, was when we got home and i took her out her carrier she was completely soaked in some type of liquid, at first i that she maybe peed in the carrier, but after examining it i realized it was hydrogen peroxide. I understand they have to sterile the area beforehand, i just don't understand why her tail, legs and back where completely soaked when they gave her back to me. Also where they did the suture it wasn't cleaned up after surgery because it had dried up blood around he area. I didn't think much of it at the time just dried her up and cleaned up the blood very carefully while she was still under sedation. Last night when i got home i noticed her suture had came completely opened and was bleeding all over her self, and was meowing of the pain. I rushed her over to BluePearl off 2920, they took her in immediately to exam her, the doctor there was confused on why they had cut her open on the side of her stomach because spayed are commonly performed in the middle, not on the side. Beanie (my cat) was being aggressive so the doctor wasn't able to further exam the area unless she was sedated. The thing was that if the area was infected that they had to perform further surgery, but they did not have a doctor that could perform that type of surgery. They didn't charge me of the consultation and even put a bigger cone on her because she said that the one the other clinic put on her was way too small for her. Thank you to everyone at BluePearl for being super caring! So they sent me to Animal Emergency Clinic in Humble where they did have a doctor that in the off chance it was infected he could perform the surgery procedure. I really appreciate the whole staff there for also being super nice and caring. Again this doctor was really confused why her spayed was performed on to her side instead of the middle of her tummy area. The cut was indeed infected like the doctor suspected, they put her under sedation and cleaned the area and flushed all the infected stuff out. Gave me pain medicine for the the next 8 days for her witch Cypresswood never did. I also noticed when i got home the stitching that was performed by Animal Emergency Clinic looked a lot more secured then the stitches i saw that were done by CypressWood. With all this being said i just hope this information can be useful to somebody looking to having their pet spayed or neutered, please learn from my mistake of not doing more research on this clinic. Turns out they have lots more bad reviews idk how this place is still up and running. read more

The clinic & staff are A+ in my book. I take my two boxers there for all their needs and have never had anything but the very best experiences here. One of my boxers is a show dog, and I certainly wouldn't entrust her or my other boy to a substandard veterinarian or clinic. Doctor Hilliard is a great vet, she has never failed to spend the time necessary with my "kids" and me and her explains everything very clearly. My dogs love her and her very efficient staff. I've never had to leave a review on an animal clinic before, but there's a first time for everything. I've been going off and on to their clinic for a couple of years now with no issues. On the surface, the staff is friendly and issues are short. However, we ran into a problem on Monday when we brought our anemic cat in. Once the vet saw him, she didn't even do the basics of weighing him or anything; she just told us to take him to an emergency hospital. We wanted to know what's going on, so we were brought into a room. The vet came in, and told us essentially nothing. We had to pry for answers, and asked about the range of care provided at this facility. We were frustrated, yes, but not rude. They said all they could do was blood tests, and we agreed to that, paid, and left. The receptionist was asking what I felt were superfluous questions about email addresses while we were trying to leave. She informed me that they'll use my email address to send me data on the blood work, as well as a phone call to explain it. Which was fair enough. She said it'd be between 30-45 minutes. An hour and a half later, and we hadn't been contacted. We still had our pet with us, and were waiting for work back before we took him to the vet hospital (which, by the way, apparently Blue Pearl is the ONLY true hospital out here for pets. The others are in name only. Didn't want to go there initially due to a bad experience previously, but we had no choice) so I called them and asked if they had the results. The receptionist said she was scanning them in to send me as we spoke. I asked her if she could tell me what they said, and she said she couldn't because she wasn't a vet and couldn't read them, and that the vet would be calling me shortly. This was a fair statement due to the fact that what we received were blood reading charts. Thankfully, by wife is a biochemist and could read them. I say that because we never did get a call explaining the chart to us. At all. And the email didn't get to us in 5 minutes; it got to us in 30. So a total of two hours for something they said would take 45 minutes. We got to Blue Pearl and got it handled, and the pet seems to be recovering fine now. However, another one of our pets wound up with an ear infection. I called today around 10 to schedule an appointment, and got him set up for 1:15. I had to call them and tell them I was going to be late due to having trouble getting him into a carrier. They said that was absolutely fine (the receptionist was absolutely chipper and pleasant), so I arrived around 1:35. I sat in the waiting room for 20 minutes only to have someone come out and tell me that they would be "parting ways with us as clients". I did not ask why. I just know that when a place doesn't want you, you don't stay. They didn't tell me this when I scheduled it. They didn't tell me when I called saying I'd be late. And they didn't tell me when I arrived. So that's more time they've wasted of mine now on top of the fact that I now have to search for a vet late in the day to see this cat. I keep wondering what we could've done to earn this treatment. But while we were frustrated, we never insulted anyone or got vulgar with them. So if this place works for you, that's fine. But it seems like they'll leave you twisting in the winds concerning your pet's care sometimes when you have them, then drop you without a reason given while trying to take care of another pet. read more

So I can't thank the staff at Cypresswood Animal enough for the amazing care for my puppy. Got her as a rescue and she started acting funny and wouldn't eat. The entire staff there was great and worked together to figure out what kind of infection she had and to get her on the mend. Dr. M was so thorough and the techs were amazing and gave me so much confidence that we were in the best hands. Our dog was attacked by a neighbor's German Shepherd. I've always had a pleasant experience with Cypresswood but had never had anything too serious happen. My dog is 4 and has gone to them since he was 8 weeks old. He has been at Cypresswood for 4 days now. He had to have lengthy surgery and careful aftercare. This experience has been AMAZING despite our stress and fear. We were fully prepared to pay $3500+ for his lifesaving care, but my bill today was $950. If you are looking for a vet with integrity, this is the one. Update June 6, 2019. Cypresswood has been testing a laser they are planning to purchase. Joe was slow healing after his attack and surgery, it had been a month. No jumping or running. He had 2 laser treatments this week and he is relaxed and back to normal! He's running around again! He has had some arthritis in his back before this and the laser works well for arthritis. This treatment would be a miracle for older dogs and they will be the only vet in the area to offer it. read more

when my female pit got sick I brought her into Cypresswood animal clinic. while they were checking her out and giving her shots for worms I had to stop them from treating her as I was having difficulty answers as to what they found wrong with her and how much her treatment would cost. at that time I learned they intended to charge an unacceptable $1700 to treat her. having stopped them at deworming and payment for a future rabies shit to be given in three weeks. An injury kept me from meeting the three week rabies shot date for almost a year. having prepaid for the rabies shot I brought her in to receive her rabies shot and was told that even though the prepaid $60 for rabies shot had not gone up in cost they demanded I pay another $60 in order to get her her rabies shot. unacceptable! read more

Just moved to area. Went to another "fancy" vet in the recommendations of several neighbors. My dog had been lethargic and bleeding some daily. They kept trying to push a senior blood work exam for $180. And even said that her ears were just fine (no infection). This comes after the $60 office visit. Today, my dog's conditions worsened. After being told I'd have to pay another office visit at the "fancy" vet, we decided to try Cypresswood. Found out my dog has a UTI, an ear infection (which I suspected just by my own experience from my 10y.o. dog), and kidney stones. That explains everything! The office visit and urinalysis only cost $100 total. Much better value. Enjoyed the no frills, down to business, but caring and good value at Cypresswood! read more

This vet is absolutely horrendous. Dr Hilliard is awful. She doesn't have a loving relationship towards animals & is just plain rude. She doesn't go into details during a check up or concern, she only just assumes a diagnosis or that she thinks is wrong. After taking them to a different vet, they found an actual resolution. I came to the office at the appointed time.The Dr. refused to look at my dog..why?the nurse relayed the message that Jackson has a skin condition. She said this office DIDN'T have the proper medication. They said he was clean, although his stomach was abnormally round. They did not offer to do any blood work. I immediately put him on heartworm + parasite medication, so I know my puppy didn't acquire it after the initial exam. A week later, my puppy was throwing up quite often, and I took him to another vet immediately. They diagnosed him with 2 different types of parasites and Hookworm. How do you miss Hookworms?!?! The worse vet experience I ever had! The wait was over an hour, the exam rooms were tiny and filthy, the staff was unfriendly and the vet was the worse part of it all. Mrs. Glass was a nightmare of a vet who has no idea how to deal with animals and should not be working with them. She walks in the room with out barely an introduction and definitely with out a smile and goes straight for my cat she doesn't pet her or let my cat sniff her to become somewhat acquainted she goes directly for her mouth to get a look at her teeth. My cat being nervous already and not knowing this stranger didn't want her any where near her. Instead of doing what she could to make her comfortable she said I'll have to get someone to hold her down! The vet tech and her spent less then a minute looking at her the only thing I seen them do is listen to her heart and they called that an exam. They then left to leave me waiting another 20 mins in the room. The manger was rude and unapologetic when I told her my experience. She blamed me and my cat. If I could give zero stars I would. This vet clinic needs to pay closer attention to who they are hiring. Currently they have a vet that has starved, medically abused, and irresponsibly bred horses on her property. My review is not from hearsay either, I have seen these animals first hand, pictures do not even show the magnitude and the seriousness of the situation at hand. If a vet cannot responsibly and ethically take care of her own animals, why in the world would she put the best care into others animals?? read more
