Here with the wife for one of her tennis matches. Sher plays here a lot but I have never been here…read more It's really nice and clean. It's the same size as our local tennis club. There are large power line towers throughout the courts. They have birds all over them which is a little noisy. Never like being by these towers. They have some nice seating by the courts which is a really nice touch for us spectators. Our club dont have chairs. :(. A nice place to have a tennis match at.

I love this club. I've taken a loooonnnng time to write this, thinking I should experience more…read moreactivities, but Yelp keeps reminding me every time I check in and I probably won't dabble in more activities, so let's do this! All the staff is so nice, including the membership coordinators, the front desk check-in staff, the instructors (even those you haven't even taken a class from), the café staff, and even the cleaning ladies. I've had long conversations with the front desk, café, and janitorial staff. One Zumba instructor I play pickleball with sometimes! My primary activity is pickleball, of course! This is the premier place to play pickleball in the greater Sacramento area. Sure, you can struggle to play on a public court or join other sports clubs with pickleball, but where do all the pros eventually gather, and where are the most local tournaments held? It's here at the Johnson Ranch Pickleball Complex (South facility) with its 24 beautiful and maintained courts. The beauty of Johnson Ranch's pickleball is that it's not hard to find open play. It's also organized by skill level, unlike the public courts. We have a pickleball director, multiple pro instructors, and 3 pickleball event organizers putting together fun events for us: the popular Kings/Queens of the Court, women's/men's/mixed doubles events, ladders, MLP teams (I can't wait!), beginner Pickleball 101 classes free to the public, Challenge the Pros game, prize challenges, Live Ball and other drill classes, and pickleball classes and camps. You can also reserve a court (pickleball, tennis, racquetball, or squash) or a swim lane for free with your membership. The North facility has 25 tennis courts. All our tennis and pickleball courts are lighted until 10 pm! Gym equipment, swimming pools, hot tubs, and children's wading pools can be found at both North and South facilities. The North facility has a sauna and steam room. The group exercise studio and cycling studio are in the South facility. Other than pickleball, these are my favorite classes: 10 AM Aqua Fit Class (M W F Sat Sun) Dance Fusion Class (Thu 2x, Sat with instructors Lori N or Ali B) Sometimes, I will go to Julia's 4:30 Warrior Flow Yoga class on Thursday before Dance Fusion class. I should try more classes, but they all conflict or compete against pickleball or aqua fit class. The Aqua Fit ladies like to chit chat and celebrate birthdays monthly with a potluck after class. To celebrate, one woman sometimes brings her homing pigeons to release, and they fly home...so cool! Kathee on Mondays and Wednesdays is the instructor I interact with most. Kelly on Fridays seems to be the most popular with her water aerobics class. The Dance Fusion instructors Lori and Ali have years of dance training in different types of dance. The rest of us in class are just trying to keep up and wishing to look as hip, coordinated, and graceful as them. We're working on the Beyonce Texas Hold Em TikTok Dance currently! We've done the Shivers line dance and Michael Jackson's Thriller dance before. There are group classes in yoga, cardio, strength training, cycling, pilates, barre, and more. The morning group exercise devotees will often attend three classes in a row! The food and drink menus at both the North and South cafes are extensive. I like the Chicken Caesar Salad for around $8 and love the $1 slushies! I need to try one of the homemade cookies someday. There's also homemade banana bread. I heard the smoothies were good from a personal trainer. You can hire a personal trainer or get private instruction in your sport of choice. Johnson Ranch offers after school programs and summer programs for kids (i.e., swimming, pickleball camps), as well as child care. You can contact a membership coordinator or sign up online for a free one week trial: https://www.sparetimesportsclubs.com/free-one-week-membership/ During the summer, there is sometimes a free two week trial if you contact AmyH@sparetimesportsclubs.com Last year, I won a free two week membership from spinning the prize wheel during a Friday Night Lights pickleball party. To cancel a month-to-month membership, you just need to give notice before the 15th of the previous month. You can also put your membership on vacation hold ($15 per month?) or medical hold ($5 per month, prorated when you start back up and the $5 that month is credited, hold for an initial 3 months and extend as needed). On the last Friday of the month, you can bring in 4 free guests. To look for pickleball events at Johnson Ranch, sign up for a free account on the Playtimescheduler.com website. Free 5 PM beginner Pickleball 101 lessons are usually in a brown circle on the 1st and 3rd Fridays every month. The free 6-9 PM Friday Night Lights party open to the public is usually in a brown circle on the 3rd Friday. Time is precious. If you want to play and improve at pickleball quickly, this is the place to be.

We have been taking our 7 year old son to k3 for 6 months now. Although the place is 30 minutes…read moreaway from home and with our busy schedules it is a struggle we couldn't quit. Quiting was a too difficult decision to make because we can see the changes in our son. We still love and enjoy coming. We can see the progress my son made in that short period of time. Johnny and his team have a very unique teaching method. Funny and joyful but firm and clear. I can see how they help the kiddos learn to focus and be more attentive. We love the circle time where they talk about a moral or a concept. They repeat the store many times to make sure the kiddos get the message. I hope we can keep coming to this special place and if we couldn't the reason would only be the long commute not fitting in our schedule. They also tend to work things out with you. So if you have a problem text or call Johnny.

I recently enrolled my 4yr old on the spectrum daughter into K3 little ninjas program…read more At first I liked the structure of the program, as a fellow young athlete coach myself I felt like I have good judgment in a sport setting. I signed the contract, I brought my daughter for about 5? Classes. On the 5th class there is 3 orange cones they set out have the kids run up to them when the yell the magic word and they were supposed to touch to cone and run back and hit their stance. My daughter was BRAND NEW, the drill was NOT explained I sat there and watched I was one of the only parents not on my phone. The instructor yelled the word my child bolted the opposite way. She came back the word was yelled again... again my child bolted the opposite way. With NO explanation a simple "run to the cone" was not said. The instructor now is next to my child ... yells the word and he almost expected her to bolt (she tried) he grabbed her upper arm and tapped her face with two fingers right by her ear. ABSOLUTELY NOT OKAY IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!!!!!!!!! I (as a professional coach even just a mother) WOULD NEVER EVER .... Grab a child OR even tap their face. I was EXTREMELY uncomfortable and even embarrassed that my child didn't understand the drill and was not explained the drill. I never came back, I kept paying but I cannot bring her back here. As a domestic violence survivor this situation made me extremely uncomfortable to speak up about. My child is 4 you NEVER grab or get physically frustrated WITH A CHILD. The instructors name is Johnny. When your payment does not go through (I keep my card locked) they call you and harass you and INSTANTLY charge your card before you even can finish your sentence!!!! Stay away!! They clearly are money hungry and CLEARLY have not had ANY safesport training.
