I went with my wife, who's a bit of a foodie, and while things started a little slow, it turned out our server was handling a large table outside. Once that was squared away, everything moved along quickly and the service became very attentive. The food had a great variety of meats and sides, and everything we tried was well-prepared and tasty. It's definitely a spot I'd recommend to anyone looking for a solid Korean BBQ experience. As for the atmosphere--it felt clean and modern, which added to the overall experience. One thing to note is that there was quite a bit of K-pop playing on the TVs around the dining area during our early dinner visit. It wasn't a bad thing; some of the music was actually pretty catchy. But if you're not into that style, just a heads up--though it's not too surprising for a Korean BBQ spot. The LA ribs taste like teriyaki beef with an overpowering sickly sweet ginger flavor and are not traditional Korean style. The breading on the pork katsu was separating from the meat, and was also tough and chewy almost in an overcooked way. Jumuluk is good too although the marinade can be a bit strong. We mainly stuck to these three types of meat the whole time. The side dishes are good! My favorites are the fish cake, bean sprouts, steamed egg and corn cheese. Service: SLOOOOOOOW. Every time I've been here, it's been super slow. It also doesn't help that the portions of meat brought out each time are very little (i.e. 1 sliced rib-eye for a table of 3). Our grill plates kept burning so quickly too. There were 3 people + the manager working 10+ tables on a Sunday. With a 2 hour minimum, I would appreciate quicker service or more meat portions so we're not just sitting there waiting... We ordered BBQ All You Can Eat, and it seemed to be nice at first. So, I expected the meat to be of good quality, but it was actually not. The beef was edible but not juicy, while the pork belly we got was not bad but not the best. Also, I was hoping for the meat to be a bit thicker. The price was also expensive compared to the quality of the meat. The side dishes were pretty nice, but for barbecues, it could have been better. I liked the vibe of the restaurant the most, but one time might be enough. If you want to feel the vibe and experience just Korean barbecues, then this restaurant would be the option. We have eaten at this establishment NUMEROUS times in the past two years! At least 15-20 times and have met the owner a couple times as well. We have experienced some small problems here and there before, but nothing like today! Our grill kept going out at the table that they set us at and they kept having to move our food around to reignit. Finally we got the first meat finished, but once they started cooking the second one, it went out two more times. We finally said, we are tied of this and would just like the bill as we had another appointment we had to make it too. (Pay for what we have eaten/received) After eating only one meat and being there less than 30 minutes (mostly waiting for the food to get done), they charged us full price and gratuity! $90+ dollars!! We said the service was poor and not because of us, but because of there grill. Instead they just said sorry, but you still have to pay the full price for everything as you sat down at the table! Decided to try this place out a few days ago. D 92 Korean BBQ is an AYCE restaurant and has been in Athens for a few years now. The only thing good is you don't leave smelling like bbq. We were seated right away upon arriving. Banchan and water brought out shortly after. The pot for the steam egg sat next to our booth the entire time we were there. The container for our water was dirty and I had to wipe it down before using it. The banchan was ok, almost no flavor. We weren't fans of the dipping sauce, Brisket, or bugolgi here. 2 stars for the marinated neck bone. Service was ok. Maybe we'll give this place another chance in the future. I love Korean BBQ and have been waiting for a chance to try D92. I was not disappointed. Having tried many other KBBQ places in the Duluth area, I didn't think D92 could compete with those locations, BUT their meats are actually really good. I'm very big on brisket, and I have to admit that D92 probably has the best brisket I've ever eaten. I was very impressed. Their meats are so good that you honestly could eat them straight off the grill without sides, rice, or any of the sauces. The other meats we tried were spicy pork belly and ribeye. They were good as well, but I could probably eat JUST brisket here and be happy. They offer the normal sides that everywhere offers- cheese corn, egg, bean sprouts, salad, radish, kimchi, etc. I was disappointed with their portions though. I felt like we kept having to ask for more, and they'd either forget, take awhile to bring it out, or give us such tiny portions that we ran out almost immediately. The grill has a spot for cheese corn, eggs, and mushrooms. We had to ask them what those spots were for because they didn't initially fill them. And when they did, it was so minimal. We had to keep asking for it to be refilled. D92 would've gotten a 5 star from me if it were purely based on food. But honestly the service wasn't good that I couldn't quite enjoy my experience that much. Their portions were small on the meat as well, and we found ourselves waiting long for each meat. I wish they would've just given more each serving so we wouldn't run out so fast or be waiting on them most of the time. Maybe if you're coming with just 2 people the serving sizes would be sufficient, but this is definitely not a place for a group of 4-5. Such a scam. Everyone at our table was charged $35 plus mandatory gratuity for all you can eat, even though half never touched the food and didn't order it. How's this legal? And it basically ends up being a grossly Overpriced meat grill. We asked about vegetables and were told "seasonal vegetables" refers to lettuce, sprouts, ginger, and pickled radishes. Later saw a tray of chopped veggies headed to another table? And I understand a no boxed leftovers policy for all you can eat, but here you will also be charged if you leave too much behind on the table as well. The food was average. And by food I mean plain white rice and meat. But nothing exciting or special. No good seasonings, condiments, sides... or vegetables... I would never recommend this unless you enjoy spending close to $60 per person for white rice and meat, even if you didn't order it or eat it. Plus an additional $15 if you don't clean your plate. We went here for our son's birthday visiting him at UGA. The service was a bit slow but our waitress was very friendly. She helped put some of our meat on the heat and assisted in moving it around when she got things started for us. We opted for the AYCE versus premium because we have one in our party that doesn't eat red meat. We had a couple of the pork belly varieties and the meat was delicious. We ordered the garlic chicken and that was tasty too. The shrimp looked good but they were difficult to peel and our hands got pretty greasy and messy from that. I'd probably stay away from that. My sister took me here for my birthday Saturday 4/27. It was my choice & I had been dying to try this place. But I thought it was only "ALL U CAN EAT". I was wrong. U can order off the menu. My sister had the soybean chicken. I would never have ordered that because it said soybean. I tried her chicken & it was really good. Really Surprised me. I ordered the SPICY Korean beef & loved it. We came in for lunch on the weekend. The food was excellent and our server was experienced and attentive. It could be five stars with a few tweaks. First, the table and floor felt a little untidy. There is an over-the-top expectation with cleanliness when you're cooking raw food at the table. We enjoyed the all-you-can-eat option. There were so many great selections it's hard to choose favorites but surprisingly based on the recommendation from our server the pork throat was a favorite. The beef bulgogi is always a top pick and discovered the pork has the same marinade. Great tip! The only complaint, there was no lunch special. Overall the Korean BBQ is fair, nothing special or worth going back. The food: the brisket was frozen when they brought it to us, and more fatty then meaty. The shrimp comes fully shelled which is a pain to peel. You're paying $30 per person, The least they can do is buy peeled shrimp (and deveining for great service!) The rice bowl and sides are too small. Again you're paying for an all-you-can-eat experience and having to locate your server for multiple sides and more rice isn't the business. The service: the server put the flame on too high and burned majority of the brisket in the beginning, never came back to lower the flame. Overall meh read more

I visited for the first time last night (03/17/2022). The service and the the food were very good. I was only 1 of two seated there when I arrived. The Bulgogi and the Japchee wasn't seasoned to my liking (Bulgogi was kind of bland and cut to thin) but after a few bites it didn't matter to me. Th Salad and the Kimchee were the star of the show. The spicy shrimp and ribeye were good. I was very pleased food wise. I felt like a stuffed pig when i left...lol. My waitress, Yeji was great. but it got crowded in there really fast. We'll begin with some positive feedback! Food itself is good, our server was extremely accommodating even while the restaurant was busy. The restaurant was clean and we had been a handful of times before. Our latest visit to D 92 was disappointing. We were drawn to this place because of the large menu. It was great that such a unique restaurant can thrive in Athens, allowing more diverse restaurants to add value to our community. Unfortunately, my fiancé and I (latina and black) dealt with overt racism as the manager accused us the $100 bill that we presented for payment was counterfeit. Our bill was around $80 including food and drinks. After finishing our meal, we noticed that our server was yelled at to collect our check with payment. She collected the check and handed it to the manager who gave us a dirty look up and down while looking at the bill. The manager proceeded to check the bill through outrageous methods. She lifts our bill to a light check its validity, runs a pen over the bill, takes a $100 bill out of her own wallet for a comparison and finally calls another employee over to compare the bill. After seeing this, we chose to speak up regarding the incident. The manager explicitly said that she is not able to trust people like us! We were saddened by this and chose to end our visits to D 92. read more

Very basic and bland decor. Server not terribly friendly. Two of us got the bibimbap. Barely any meat on the meat one. I got the veggie one and asked for the sauce on the side as it can be too spicy for me. She brought it and said, "Oh sorry, they put the sauce on it. Just eat around it." Either way, it just wasn't that good. The chicken bento box was good and fried rice was good, but my son got a "side" of beef brisket because it wasn't an option with the fried rice. So, we paid for fried rice and $25 for a small plate of bland, overcooked meat (and the server didn't bother to tell us the price ahead of time). In addition, the scam continued with the gratuity included on the check, but NO mention of this. We were 4 people and did not have the "all you can eat", which did have a sign about gratuity being included. My husband didn't see it included but I thankfully noticed it. I wonder how many people they have scammed with this?! Food is not great, it's expensive and they will try to scam you out of more money. They even charge $10 extra if you don't finish your meat with the "all you can eat" meal. Bottom line, if you want good, authentic Korean BBQ, drive to Gwinnett county! read more

Knew about D92's Decatur location. Happy to see them on Baxter Street. They are open for lunch (Iron Factory is not). Nice place. I hope it becomes the anchor for a Baxter St. Renaissance. Great service. Food was very tasty. Especially loved the kimchi, pot stickers and of course the beef. They provide chopsticks made of a non-porous material. I hate the tongue depressors you get at most places. For 12$ I got everything you see in the picture, plus a couple more side treats. They are not downtown, so parking was a breeze. Looks like they are preparing to serve/cook food outside too. Stay tuned. Note: Drinks are pretty much just of the alcohol variety.
