I have a big barbecue fanatic. I love barbecue. I can eat barbecue morning in the night. I have had barbecue in so many different states in different countries different styles that I consider myself to know a little bit more about our barbecue than the average person. This place is just not doing it. I am always hesitant to get barbecue from chains because barbecue comes from the soul from the heart. It's not a add water mix it heat for this long and there you go kind of equation. Experience sweat time trial and error all go into making great barbecue. This place has forgotten that. When they first opened, we tried them out and it was pretty good expensive but good. The next time I tried them out things came back wrong. They were delivered. Incorrectly was not a good experience. Fast-forward to July 4 or July 3 of this year I had food delivered because I got out of work late and was going to late fireworks. I'm a big holy Trinity brisket, ribs and links. I ordered brisket and links from them with two sides of collard greens. When it was delivered, I could not eat it because their links have jalapeño and cheese in them. I'm allergic to jalapeño. Nowhere on their menu does it say jalapeño. So I was able to eat the two sides of collard greens and that was it. I called them. They gave me a gift card to try them another time which I did about a week ago. Was passing through and so I just want A Good brisket. Let me try it out. I ordered it. I got in the car and figured I'd stack on it while I was driving when I opened it up. It was just simply a Styrofoam container with brisket, folded and stuffed into saran wrap. It was lukewarm at Best. Their famous homemade pickles were scattered inside the box all over the saran wrapped meat. They couldn't even put into a container. I pulled over and when I unraveled the meat wad it was just pieces of brisket and then one big piece of brisket that was clearly just folded over then fold it again. They put the other two pieces on it and then wrapped it in saran wrap I guess they just left it in some type of warming tray for the day. It was not fresh cut and it was dry. I waited a few days and then I called them. No answer. I even called their corporate numbers and I believe it's Alabama no answer at any of the extensions 1346 does not matter. We have football season coming up here and what better to offer to my clients and I guess than a catered barbecue meal. Not from this place incredibly disappointed and again the price that they charge just charge a set price when you order brisket or you order ribs there's always an additional five dollar charge or something like that that they add onto it just not worth it. read more

This is a little chain and the food is really good. I like the chicken tenders more than the bbq, and the bbq is good. It is close to Costco and that is convenient. The interior is kinda what you would expect for a contemporary restaurant that is looking for some nostalgia vibes. The outdoor seating is pleasant if it is not too hot, there is very little noise from traffic. The only thing I do not like is the stand in line service. Everyone is friendly and food comes quickly to your table, I just prefer that I could order at a table versus the lineup. read more

First visit to the Athens location since we moved here in late April. Place was very nice with indoor and outside dining along with drive thru. Noticed that you order up front rather than table service at this location. Worked out well and quick. I had the pull pork platter with collards and baked beans. Meat was plentiful and perfectly sauced. Sides were very good with their tasty biscuits. My wife had the quarter smoked chicken with white bbq sauce. Her sides were potato salad and fruit. (Sauces are not out to allow customers to choose). One of four in our group liked the "original"sauce that came on the pulled pork. I prefer a sweeter sauce and one person said her sauce was too spicy. Eight different standard sides are $3.59 and the ones we chose were ok. We tried the southern salad -large but the chicken was smoked and didn't have bbq sauce. Also tried the pulled pork sandwich (served with "original"bbq sauce-no choice -although you can choose a different menu item of chopped pork with "Carolina" sauce. Our 3 item meat plate was good but a little too spicy for our palate. We had the classic spare ribs, chicken and pulled pork with two sides of baked beans and Mac & Cheese. We thought the chicken and pulled pork were excellent. The ribs and beans were too spicy to us. I wish they offered a sweet un-spicy sauce like Sonny's or Saucehouse has. They do have a sweet honey and jalapeño bbq sauce but I didn't try that. But With a line out of the door they must be doing something right. read more

The food is usually decent but I'm just so tired of when I order Togo( either pick up, uber eats, anything other than dine in etc) they NEVER give me any sauce. Its suppose to come with it, but I'll even ask for it in the notes too, and nothing, ever. So tonight I just paid $7 to buy a full bottle of their sauce so I would stop getting plain meat. Quality control in the kitchen must be lacking because half of my very small portion of pulled pork consisted of flabby skin, gristle, and bone. The restaurant has very limited seating inside and really isn't set up for single diners, which can be awkward at lunch.
