Wonderful family owned business. They moved from Main Street to Porter on the east side of the street between main and gray. When I saw that they weren't on main I was so upset thinking that they'd gone out of business, but thankfully they hadn't. When you need your boots resoled, it's the place. They even fixed a broken purse strap for me once, and I was amazed with how inexpensive and perfect it looked after. They're affordable but extremely good at what they do. They have a great selection of boots, knives, belts, purses, leather care products and more. They're always kind, friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Great place for a gift too! read more

Zero rating. Ruined a pair of my excellent shoes. The inside of the shoes were damaged. Not sure what or how they did this but the leather was scraped and shredded. I do not recommend them. I do not leave negative comments about anything but this was unbelievable. They must be nuts. read more

Norman Boot and Shoe Repair has been around for many years, but I didn't find myself needing their services until after I moved back home from Las Vegas. I needed to find a good shoe shine place, so I called Norman Boot. Their hours aren't the greatest (9-5 M-F), but the owner (I presume) was super friendly. The shop looks small on the outside, but it has quite an inventory on the inside. Shoes, clothes, belts, accessories, and shoe cleaning/case supplies, etc. I dropped my shoes off and was charged $10 per pair. This includes tax. The price might seem high, but if you consider paying a shoeshine guy with a tip, I think it's about the same per pair. Plus, it was convenient to get several pair done at once, rather than a pair at a time. The owner asked if I needed the shoes by any particular date, and since I didn't, he gave me a card and said they'd be ready in a week. I returned after a week and the shoes looked fantastic. Shined very well, they looked significantly better than when I brought them in. I will absolutely return. read more

They treated my shoes like they were as important as any other pair. They gave me frank advice about what could be done to save them, and were friendly and professional. UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. Dominic is fantastic I've never needed these kind of services before until I started plumbing. Believe it or not even though they say waterproof when your standing in 1 1/2 feet of water for 6 hours it'll eventually seep through the leather I came in and Dominic made sure that wouldn't happen again I am very pleased and will continue using his services and I'll refer him to other contractors in the plumbing world if you don't come here for your repairs you've gone to the wrong place. With new management they are now open Saturdays which is great for me seeings that's the only time I have off. read more

I have been a customer of Norman Boot & Shoe Repair for many years. Simon Kim, the owner, has consistently performed excellent work for me on my boots. This includes repair, patching, sole replacement, polishing, and other work. He is also an honest, straight shooter. If something can't be repaired or is not worth the effort, he will tell you. I know numerous other Norman residents loyal to Simon as well. These couple of accusations of him being rude or dishonest ring false to me. I suspect those folks either weren't paying close enough attention to what they were told, or they didn't like what (the truth) they heard. I would give the Norman Boot & Shoe Repair a zero star but this is not an option. The owner of this business is an extremely rude person whose only goal is to get more money from his customers, no matter whether his repair job is done or not. I brought my expensive German shoes to glue the heel and adjacent sole. The younger man present (Louis) noticed that another place of sole needed gluing, said that they will take care of both problems, and asked me to pay $10 which I paid by my Master Card. Ten days later when I was picking up my shoes, the owner (an older Asian man) was there. I immediately noticed that the main problem with the heel was not fixed. The owner said that I need to pay another $10 to fix it! In the following discussion he was so rude, insulting and yelling at me. Moreover he even tried to take my shoes back if I don't pay him extra money (and keep the shoes as hostage). I still have the receipt and the ticket for this Boot & Shoe Repair as the evidence of this "anti-service". Unbelievable! read more

I would give a zero star but that wasn't a option Want to have your shoes repaired at Norman boot and shoe repair?  It is worth the drive to go anywhere else based on my ex. My experience was I brought a simple problem my shoe had a thread unraveling the thread simply needed to be retied through two holes and lightly colored back to the original coloring he did it wrong I explained to him what I saw and how it was one wind on one thread hole and three ones on the other thread hole while all the other threads had 2 wine and he put 3 on this one and only one on the other it was obviously wrong to anybody it was also miss colored and that could be changed and I asked him to do it but he claims it was my thread and not his and couldn't detect it with his eyes I just paid him $10 to tie the thread up he didn't have to provide anything else he refused to admit that he could see a problem and asked me what my point was at this point I decided he was either dumb or playing dumb because I just explained the point ( I think he is playing dumb ) He then asks me what's my point   the point is he's a repairman and I'm there explaining the problem when he says what my point I think this guys either an idiot or doesn't want to help me either way I never want to use this guy again   Norman boot and shoe repair maybe a great company but the guy that's inside there which is an older Asian man ,this guy doesn't care and acts like he doesn't know although he will be glad to repair the wrong way and you will see them every time you look at your shoes and think man I should have gone somewhere else  now I'm going to have to pay someone else double to fix what he's already been paid to do if you think this was annoying reading this note imagine how annoying it will be when it happens to YOU when you use Norman boot and shoe repair do not go there unless you want to pay a little more than you expected and have it done wrong then complain and get nowhere Pay for the repair and then want yo have someone else fix his poor repair job  And have the bad memory of this guy acting like a repairman yet then claims he can't see the problem with his repair after I explained the promlem with his repair he says what's my point !?!? I needed some leather laces replaced. They needed to be threaded around the back of the shoe through grommets and to the front where they tied. I took them here and was told he couldn't buy the navy laces but if I found some he would lace them for me. OK. I found a place that sold me the laces and returned to the store with them. He then told me that it would be $15 just to lace the shoes and take an entire week to get it done! I asked him to repeat that as I knew it couldn't take him more than 10 minutes to do it. He replied that it would take a "special tool" and he had people in front of me. I refused to either pay that much to lace a pair of shoes or leave them for an entire week. I stopped at the local hobby store bought the tool for $3.99 and had them laced in 15 minutes. I understand needing to make a profit but that was just a little silly. I would have paid $10 and been happy with a two day turn around but... I have other shoes that needed repairs but I will NOT take them to him. read more
