No one here I showed up during business hours to buy a tree and no one was here. This place is quite a ways out and it was pretty frustrating that no employees were here. I got their of their office rep on the phone (who wasn't there because they were at the DMV). I told them no one was here and they said someone was there so I looked around. No one. I called them again and they said I should have called first so I didn't waste gas I should have called to make sure employees were here during business hours? The tree was planted 4 months after ordering. My yard sits on a shelf of limestone and their jackhammer was being repaired, which was needed for the 4' hole needed for any chance of the tree to survive. It looks good now. They provide a 12 month warranty. The communication could be better. read more

Go somewhere else! On December 4, 2023, I paid for a tree to be installed shortly after Christmas. As of February 22, 2024, D&B has still failed to deliver and install the tree. Their first excuse was that their installation guy out was out, and their next excuse was that their delivery truck was broken. Also, they rarely answer the phone and their voicemail is usually full so you cannot leave a message. Even if you are able to leave a message, your call is not returned. I eventually had to dispute the charge with my credit card company to get my money back. I do not recommend doing business with them. read more

We bought five trees from D&B and 4 smaller bushes with the understanding there was a 1 year warranty. One of our bushes did not make it despite watering it along with the other ones which did fine. I reached out to Jesse no less than three times and she has never bothered to even call us back even though we spent almost $7,500 on our trees and bushes with her. I've given up trying to get a call from her or any expectation that they would honor their warranty. From now on I will do all my business with Moon Valley Nurseries and will never go back to D & B. read more

We lost an ancient, beloved live oak in the February freeze, and were intent on replacing it with something special. We worked with Jesse on getting a 100 gallon Monterey oak, along with 3 spartan junipers to replace some lost cypresses. It took longer than we'd hoped, but only because Jesse wanted to make sure the tree was ready for transporting. The crew did a great job of helping us determine the best place for the large tree, worked very hard to dig the hole, and planted it with a special soil mix. We have clear instructions on how to make sure the trees thrive, and the best warranty in town in case it doesn't. And at a price 2/3 that of 'the big place' up the road (who basically offer no warranty). Highly recommended. read more

I can't say enough good things about this company. Clay was wonderful to work with. I needed a rejuvenation of my front yard and a complete overhaul of my backyard. He gave me Texas-friendly, low-maintenance plants, drip irrigation in my beds and recommended a shade tolerant turf for my front yard. Clay really listened to what I wanted in a yard (native plants and low maintenance) and laid out beautiful beds in the back. The yard looks better than it ever has. He took his time explaining to me how to best care for the plants and the watering schedule. I had four landscaping companies out to look at the yard, and Clay was the only one who was OK with a job under $60,000. He did not try to sell me expensive rocks and water features that I didn't want. He even gave me a few trees and some edging for free. Emilio and his crew were meticulous in their work. They really seemed to care about the plants and how their work looked. They were punctual and finished the whole job in a week. I will definitely be using them for Phase II of my project. read more

Clay Britt of D & B Tree Company did a $9,000 landscaping project and used inferior plants and/or soil. For 6 months, calls and e-mails have been sent to Mr. Britt regarding the replacement of approximately 35 plants. His response has been " when we're in the area, we'll stop by." I have repeatedly requested that a definite time be scheduled. For $9,000, this should have been resolved in a timely manner. My wife and I visited 3/11, actually selected an oak tree which the sales guy tagged. He said the owner would contact us for payment, and delivery confirmation (we gave him phone and email). Never heard from anyone...after 4 days....we went elsewhere and found another tree which will be delivered in a few weeks. After a week, still haven't heard from them, based on this I'm glad we went elsewhere. read more

I can't say enough great things about D&B Nursery! It has a wide selection of different types of plants, small and large trees, bushes, etc. that are beautiful and healthy for less than what you'd pay at a different place without compromising the quality or customer service. They also deliver and plant the large trees for a very reasonable price compared to other nurseries. I was very pleased and impressed with the help and knowledge I received from Clay when trying to pick out what type of trees I needed for a shaded area in my backyard. He didn't rush me, he took his time showing and explaining the different types of trees that would look good and flourish in the area that I wanted them. Jesse was extremely helpful on the other side with the payment and set up. Unfortunately when I received my trees to be installed I realized that they just didn't work right in my setting due to other trees I already had in my backyard, which wasn't their fault seeing as they hadn't seen my backyard. Jesse bent over backwards to help me find something else that would suit my needs. However, I came to the realization that what I was trying to do seemed like a great idea in theory, but just wouldn't work in reality. She was very sweet and understanding of my predicament and offered to refund my money since nothing was going to work there and even waived the refund cost due to the fact that my plan to create what I wanted just wasn't going to work out. She made everything go smoothly. When I decide to do a different area I'm working on I will definitely go back to D&B! read more

They just finished a total transformation project for our front yard. In approximately 3 days they took our yard from a mud pit to a beautifully landscaped piece of art including a raised garden bed with retaining wall, a rock bed, and new sod with irrigation!!! We also asked for a new fencing gate to be put in and even though that is not in the normal part of their work they stepped up and took care of us! I am very impressed with Clay and his response time each and every time I contacted him! No other company compares to his level of customer service!!! Clay listened to our ideas and incorporated them into the design and provided a site plan that matched our property perfectly. The plan was size appropriate detailing locations for planting beds, stone/rock work and grassy areas. The plan even included a fountain feature next to the proposed new patio. Clay managed the project with professionalism making sure each phase of the project met our expectations. Clay and his crew were 100% professional, and I would recommend them to anyone. We had to wait several months to have our landscaping redone following the February 2021 ice storm. Clay was able to negotiate down our deposit because of the wait time and was always responsive to our questions. After the landscaping was complete and we discovered a drainage issue with our mulch following a storm where 6" of rain fell in less than two hours, Clay replaced the mulch with river rock and waived any cost to us. This was the first time buying a tree for my wife and me. We had a dying tree in our yard that needed to be replaced. We had gotten several recommendations about "the place off of 620". Victor was great. He really knows his stuff and you can tell he has a passion for what he does. He patiently answered all our questions and encouraged us to take some time to think about what we wanted. Last Sun we made our decision and chose a nice 45 gal. red oak. He said it would be delivered and planted within a week. Sure enough, Thur when I got home it was there. They had replaced the old tree with the new one and mulched and staked it. They did a professional job. It was very clean and neat. Just a nice new tree where the old one once stood. The family feeling and wonderful staff really impressed us from the first meeting . My family and I got to select my trees from a huge array that is on property. The trees were delivered well within the time we requested, and the team that came to our house were quick and efficient. Bought a Chinquapin Oak a while back and just looked outside in the backyard at it and decided to write a review. Amazing what one beautiful tree can do for a backyard. The leaves are a dark red right now. I love the big leaves. The service they provided from helping to pick out the tree, to buying it to sending their guys out to plant it was very good. The tree was a few years old when we got it, so it was pretty good sized. We've had it a couple of years and it has adapted very well to the soil. I didn't worry too much about paying for a larger tree since they gave a one year warranty. Good place to tree shop. read more

Writing a bad review is not something I like enjoy, however in this case I had a poor experience. The summary is that I bought a couple of trees from D&B, one turned brown after about 6 months on a 1 year warranty. I thought it might come back in the spring but when my arborist came for my annual check up about in the new year and declared it dead. I contacted D&B and received word that they would replace the tree under warranty... and then silence. I contacted them by email (see thread below), by phone, and even stopped by the place at the corner of 620 and 45 and spoke to a nice lady who could not find me on the schedule but took my info again. Good luck calling these guys on the phone. Ive called them literally over a dozen times over many different days for 2-3 different jobs and have only gotten them to pick up 2-3 times early on. Lately, nothing but an answering machine that sends me to VM but guess what? Their VM box is full! I filled out their contact form on their site to reach them - we'll see how this goes. The first time Ive tried to get their services, it was for landscape design. Their website says they do design and planning. Had David himself come out (this took 3-4 attempts alone as he doesnt check messages left on his desk by an assistant/secretary) and it was merely "tell us what you want and we'll do it". He recommended plants but there was no design element at all. The 2nd time I tried to contact them was for a tree. I picked out a different landscape designer and wanted to price compare a tree but couldnt get them on the phone nor leave a message since their VM box was full. I tried driving down there Saturday after black friday around 4-5pm (they close at 6pm) and no sign or notice - just not open. I live down the road from these guys off 620 and heard good things from my neighbor but I just didnt see it. The 2 star is because I think IF you know what you want and how you want it, they will give you a good deal. You can definitely negotiate with David (I think he's always on-site?) to get a good, fair price and the install of their trees is top notch according to my neighbor (broke through a rock plateau in the soil to plant their tree deep into soil). I will admit that David does have a good working knowledge of trees and can suggest good ones but dont expect any design expertise. Also, part of their website says they are open 7 days and part of it says closed Sunday. They are definitely closed Sunday and apparently close whenever they want to around holiday time without notice. I tried to give them my business but I guess they dont need it that badly. Edit1: Looks like they've made it very clear their days of operation on their website and also included an alternate number in blue text on their website that doesnt have a full VM box. Better. Still unable to reach a live person though. read more

We purchased a $800 BigTooth Maple tree at the end of April 2014, including their people to deliver and plant it. I was promised that it would be delivered within 10 days and was like pulling teeth to get the order fulfilled. Finally, we got it 3 weeks later after several calls and broken promises. I coincidentally had a certified Arborist treating other trees on my property 2 months later & noticed that my New Maple was Root bound!. I remember seeing a web ad that the trees are fresh. Wow, thanks to the Arborist happening on it, commenting that the tree was left in the pot too long, he made corrections and hopefully we'll be able to save it! Beware! Have your investment checked by a professional if you find your perfect tree from the D & B selection. read more

You might call first to make sure they are open. They advertise being open from 8:00am to 5:00pm on Saturdays. We needed a 45 gallon tree to replace an Arizona Ash that had reached its lifespan and had to be cut down, and we really wanted to come here since it's the only actual tree farm in Austin. We left the UT spring game early so that we could make it there before closing. We arrived at 3:45pm on Saturday and the fence was locked, with no one in sight. It was clearly closed. Also, there was no sign anywhere explaining why they were not open. I understand emergencies happen, but the best practice would be to leave a sign explaining why you are not open to your customers. We waited for a few minutes to see if maybe the owner would come back, but no luck. Also, in the time that we were there, another customer pulled up, surprised that they were closed. So they potentially lost at least 2 sales. We ended up buying a 45 gallon Burr Oak at Countryside Nursery the following Sunday. We would have liked to have been able to see the selection at D&B, but we didn't want to wait a week to go back out the next Saturday (they close at 5pm on weekdays). Also, who knows if they would have even been open during the advertised hours on the following Saturday. So the moral of the story is, call first to make sure they are open. read more

D&B just finished landscaping our front yard. Clay did a great job with the design and the crew followed up with a beautiful job. They were up front when we finalized the deal, stating that it would be about 4-5 weeks before they could get stated. They showed up on time, finished in 5 days as promised, did a great job cleaning up and were courteous and professional throughout. D&B built several beds, put in 4 trees, dozens of plants, an irrigation system and hardscape around the beds. D & B Tree Company has nice big trees and they offer installation.....eventually. I bought several new trees, a couple of shrubs, and some new sod from this company. The face to face contact at the store was very pleasant. However, when it came time to install everything we ran into some problems. Initially, David, one of the owners, told me he'd install sometime the following week, but couldn't say what day. So, because we have a pool and I can't leave the gate open, my husband and I took turns with vacation time to accommodate D & B and waited out the whole week. No trees. Not even a phone call. On Saturday, more than a week later, my husband went back to the store and spoke with David again. He was assured the trees would all be installed by 2 PM that day. At 3 PM, 2 guys showed up with half the merchandise, installed it, and left with a promise to be there "first thing Monday morning" with the rest of the order. So...more lost vacation time. Monday morning came and no trees arrived. I called D & B again and was told they'd be there "for sure" by the end of the day. At 4:30 pm, David called back and said sorry...they'll be there first thing Wednesday "for sure". It's now Wednesday at 10:30 Am. No one showed up again. I'm considering suing for the cost of the lost vacation time. This company has no idea what customer service is. I can only conclude that they've gone downhill. This is my warning to anyone considering new landscaping - stay away from D & B. read more

We ordered Palmetto St Augustine sod from D&B because they had the most competitive prices in town with regards to sod and delivery fees. David and the staff were very professional, quite knowledgeable, and most accomodating with regards to our order and delivery scheduling. The sod was delivered in a very timely manner, arriving when they said they would, and were even 7mins early!. Isidro who delivered the sod was very helpful and patient in where to place the pallets of sod, and he even took the time to assess our yard and give us helpful tips on how to go about laying the sod. The Palmetto sod looked quite healthy (they cut their sod deep so there's plenty of dirt in tact and the roots are left undisturbed, which makes for good transplanting). We just layed our sod down yesterday and will update the progress of the Palmetto in the upcoming weeks. Overall, everyone we interacted with at D&B were amazing, patient, professional and helpful. We definitely will be consulting D&B again with our future yard needs come Spring/Summer. read more
