Stopped by for bfast today and i just couldnt figure out why i ever left them a 3 star previously. From the minute we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the staff to sit anywhere. By the time we were seated, menus and iced water with straws were already on our table. Our waitress was such a lovely lady. Took drinks order, then took our order. When the food came, without asking she gave us extra napkins and asked if we wanted any sauces such as hot sauce (the table had the other condiments such as pepper, salt, ketchup). She came to check on us midway thru our meal, refilled our drinks and got us our check when we were ready. During my stay, i was watching the two men working the counter and everything they did was so meticulous and thoughtful. One example was someone ordering iced coffee to go, they wrapped tissues around the cup so the customer can hold with ease. Service was wonderful all around. Food was only decent to be honest. But five stars cos their service was really exceptionally great that id come back here. read more

So what about the food...DELICIOUS! I was good and had the 4 eggs whites, seasoned spinach and turkey special with whole wheat toast (hey, once in a while I can eat healthy). When I ordered I did not notice it came with spinach which I usually only like raw but this spinach was really tasty. My companion had scrambled eggs with cheese, rye toast and homefries. She is a picky eater and LOVED the eggs...in fact she said they were the best diner eggs she has ever had...light and fluffy. She was less enthusiastic about the homefries but I tasted them and thought they were very good. D&D is everything a coffee shop/diner should be! Update: Used the bathroom for the first time this past Sunday, wow it was nicer than my apartment (okay that isn't saying all the much :-)! Loved the signs hanging in the bathroom (you will have to go there to see what they say) and their new high speed hand driers! Another update: I had never been during the lunch rush hour. I find this place to be more of a diner than a coffee shop, although they do serve coffee and other espresso related items. They have a fairly simple menu catering to breakfast and lunch with a section for dessert as well. I came and ordered the breakfast special with a choice of two eggs (any style), ham or bacon or sausage, and homefries served along with toast and coffee or Oj. All this for $5 is a terrific deal. I can say that I was ready to venture out for the day after this meal. The atmosphere is clean and well kept. The waitresses were amazing. They filled the cups of water for a friend and I 3 times during our half hour stay. This place is definitely a local joint with good food. read more

Great diner for any meal of the day (except dinner since it closes at 4-5pm). Came here for lunch and it looked like your normal diner. I ordered the chicken pannini and it was delicious. I ordered salad instead of french fries and it tasted very fresh. You can tell the feta was not the cheap stuff you normally get from diners but the good stuff. You can see it is a step up from your average diner. I would come back from breakfast based on the reviews. Make sure you bring cash since they do not accept credit cards. I came here for an early breakfast one day, decided on seven grain French toast. It was simple and good (topped with sugar), went great with the coffee! The service was pretty good too, looks like a family owned place? It looks like any other old school diner and seems like there's a good mix of people who eat here, always a win in my book! I think it's good for breakfast or brunch if you're in the area. The food isn't anything amazing, but it's good food and prices are decent. This place can be easily missed, but then again it's the only diner along those couple of blocks. I wouldn't mind coming back if I'm in the area and looking for a place to eat. read more

Had lunch here with my old friend last Friday. The atmosphere was perfect for us to chat and catch up. My coffee was constantly being refilled so I can just enjoy my company. Place looks like any typical diner joint with detachable table setup for larger crowds. We were asked to move from one booth table to the next to accommodate a big family coming out of Sunday church. Menu selections are pretty big from sandwiches to soups and salads. Got their Pancake Delite combo (sides of bacon/eggs are sold separately), and their Challah French Toast. My sister liked her pancakes as it comes with strawberries and banana and huge dollops of whipped cream. The bacon was done really well, thick and crispy cuts with runny eggs. French toast wasn't bad either. It is on the pricier side for a neighborhood joint to charge $13 for the pancake combo that doesn't come with any side or coffee. read more

-1 star for the seriously terrible music that's always playing. It certainly adds to the diner-y atmosphere, but I hate having the worst of the 80s and 90s stuck in my head after breakfast. That aside, D&D is basically a perfect neighborhood diner. There's always room for us, whether at a table or at the counter. The coffee is a notch above average, the waitresses are friendly but not overly so, and the food never disappoints. I usually stick to the pastrami omelette (when I'm feeling gluttonous) or the breakfast wrap (when I'm not). Recently I branched out to try the Florentine Panini - egg whites, spinach and feta on rosemary bread. It far exceeded my expectations - I wish they'd use whole eggs, but it actually had fresh, not frozen spinach. French toast is also a winner. read more
