I have been going to this dentist for a quite a long time. But unfortunately the way they handle my wife treatment is unacceptable. According to the dentist office they need to get authorization for that from my insurance company. It was back in December last year. According to them they sent it on 12/22/25. I got letter from my insurance that dentist office do not need anything authorization for the work. Because Dentist is not a specialist. Meaning if the dentist is not an orthopedic doctor not needed any authorization. my could have done her deep cleaning long time ago. now they are busy and asking me to get appointments for there convenience. It is sad I am paying my co payments and they collect their money from insurance company. But we have to sacrifice our time for their convenience. I hope no experience this type inconvenience there . It is out of my frustration about this office. I will not recommend any one to this office any more. read more

I sought care from Dr. Luong when I had pain that had not been addressed by my former dentist. It turns out that I had a very deep infection that extended to my jawbone. Dr. Luong sent me to an excellent specialist for a root canal, where I had a very good experience. Dr. Luong continued my aftercare, which included quite a number of visits for which he did not charge me. I assume that he received payments for at least part of this from my insurance. Furthermore, Dr. Luong does not upsell me on merchandise. And finally, my former dentist always found several expensive cavities on every visit. But Dr. Luong, whom I trust way more, does not find anywhere near as many cavities. read more

Absolutely the worst dental experience I have ever had . When I first went to D anD dental I told them I had dental anxiety.well let's just say the dental assistant is horrible. She practically waterborne me during a cleaning . I have some work to get done and rescheduled it a couple times due to anxiety in which they knew of all were canceled with sufficient notice . When I reluctantly called back the receptionist told me to walk in when I'm ready .I asked if this is standard .I was told because I canceled. I have been coming to D & D Dental for a few years now after being referred by my parents. Unfortunately my dad's dental insurance changed and they aren't able to come here anymore, but I still do! I love D & D Dental! Don't be persuaded by Bev O.'s comment, I've had nothing but great service here! I am the type of person who likes going to the dentist b/c I usually don't have issues. The entire office is spotless....and considering you tend to stare at the ceiling while at in a dentists chair...I even noticed there isn't a speck of dust on the ceiling or in the lights either! I've always been welcomes in professionally by the staff and both dentists are always so nice! X-rays can be a pinch uncomfortable when the tech is newer (like mine was on my last visit) but nothing I would actually complain about. Plus they take you on time!! That's huge in my book. Most people have to get back to work and it matters if they tale forever or not. Not here, I've always had no wait and never felt rushed out either. **Huge Plus** Both dentists are VERY GENTLE! I do have sensitive teeth and yet I have never been uncomfortable while having my teeth cleaned. They even worked with me when I needed a crown replaced...to save me money they created a crown (like the one I had already...done at a different place years ago...and had worn out and came loose) that was half metal and half porcelain. Yay! The look of porcelain but not the cost of a fully porcelain crown! Save me money any day and I'll give you rave reviews and referrals! I hate to leave negative reviews and I normally just grit my teeth and bear it (pun intended). But the level of substandard work done on my teeth is frightening. I would never refer anyone to Dr. Luong's dental practice. During my first visit, I thought I was being upsold when the Dr. wanted to do "3" root Canals. 3!!! On one of them, he wanted to tear through an existing bridge, but not replace it because medical does not cover porcelain bridges. I told him under no circumstances do you touch that tooth. He did the root canals on the other two teeth , placed some shoddy steel crown caps on the teeth and shaved down the surrounding teeth to make the caps fit. One size fits all! Not!!! I was in excruciating pain for 2 months. The Dr. didn't want to reschedule a follow-up appointment because he said he hadn't been paid by Medi-Cal for the first appointment. I didn't fight it and just continued to grit my teeth and bear it. Two months went by and I called the office a couple of times, but nothing...the receptionist said that the Dr. was still waiting on his initial payment. I moved on and just waited for a call back. Eight months went by and not a word from my dentist. My teeth hurt so bad I couldn't even eat a banana without experiencing significant pain...a banana!!! And, the areas where he shaved the surrounding teeth to make the cap fit, food now easily gets trapped in those spaces, causing even more pain. I finally call Medi-Cal Dental and they referred me to a specialist to review the work done by Dr. Luong. The referral dentist easily saw the poor workmanship and recommended repairs to correct the problem. After their recommendation, I am scheduled to see another dentist to have them correct Dr. Luong's shoddy dental work. Zero stars and a warning..."Stay Away or Enter At Your Own Risk!" read more

After calling several dental offices, I was happy to find this one. The pricing for services at this office are the most competitive that I have seen in this area. Getting an appointment at most dental offices is a nightmare! Other dental offices book appointments weeks ahead and then when you finally see the dentist for the initial visit, you must reschedule weeks later ! This is maddening ! With D&D Dental, I have called and seen the dentist the next day or within the same week. The staff is pleasant and professional. The only unfortunate thing about this office is that they do not perform oral surgeries, but they do refer their patients to qualified oral surgeon when needed. I have been going to this dentist since I was a kid; they offer multiple language support - English and Vietnamese - so far for when I've gone, they've had quick and timely appointments. Make sure you make an appointment before you come into the office though, or else, logically, you'll have to wait a little. The facilities are clean and orderly and since the staff is more or less a family business, everyone is very friendly. I've had my teeth cleaned here on and off throughout my life, and I have gotten a root canal done. I am more or less satisfied with the results I have gotten. I recommend D&D dental. read more

This is my very first time coming to this dental office, which I found on Yelp. First and foremost, FIRST BAD IMPRESSION! Why schedule your patients an appointment for 10:00a.m, (the time it opens by the way) , just to tell me that both, your doctor and receptionist are not here on time? That is the entire point of an appointment. Otherwise I would've gladly walked in on a date that was absolutely available for my schedule! On top of that, I needed assistance before wasting time, to see if my insurance was eligible for this office, again being my FIRST TIME here, and I'm waiting on a receptionist to come in! They would totally get 4 stars from me if it weren't for a few minor details. So let's start with the good: I saw Dr. Lee and he was great and really honest, which I totally appreciate. My previous dental office was going to charge me thousands, and I'm serious!... Thousands of dollars of work they claimed I needed. Contrary to what the other office told me, I discovered with Dr Lee that I did not have cavities, i did not need a root canal, and it was not a matter of life and death that i changed out my silver fillings. Dr. Lee did my cleaning with a dental assistant to help. I was a little surprised, because I'm used to having an RDH do this service. But he was quick and it was painless. Unlike my other office (see my other review), I always left feeling like my teeth and gums were brutalized. It does make me wonder though....which method got my teeth cleaner? The office is a little barebones but spotless and amazingly clean. The equipment and furnishing seem a little old and dated but they do the job nonetheless. The lobby is small, but bright and airy. Ironically, the office is right next-door to a donut shop so if you get bored of waiting or are hungry, you can head there! Areas for improvement... I would have appreciated goggles or something during my cleaning because the spray from the water was splashing everywhere. So what irked me and them losing an extra star.... I make an appointment because I'm all about schedules and promptness. I don't have time to waste. I didn't get seen until an hour after my original appointment time. I had to ask how much longer before I was seen and even when they said 8-10min. It was more like 15-20. Thank god for IP4 to keep me occupied, otherwise I would have been even more pissed. When I finally sat down in the chair, I still has to wait 10min. Maybe that's why they don't have clocks around, so patients don't know how late the office is running behind. I'm hoping the tardiness is an anomoly, because finding the right dentist and dental office dentist hunting is no fun. read more

I had paid for a procedure I did not know he did not do on my husband and he came out and told the receptionist to refund my overpayment. This was my first visit to D&D after switching over from another place I wasn't happy with. I came in for my cleaning a little early knowing that there would be forms to fill out. The paperwork was taken care of quickly and I was promptly shown inside for x-rays. I met the very friendly Dr. who performed the cleaning, gave me some tips, and went over my x-rays. And then I was done. A friendly doctor, welcoming staff, and short wait time made for a very efficient and pleasant visit, which is something I had rarely experienced with previous dentists. read more

What I like about the D & D Dental Office is that the facility is very clean & organized; well maintenance & do the job very well for the teeth. Dr. Dean Luong has help me with my teeth several times, from root canal, to implants, to teeth cleaning & to dentures. Especially the dentures, Dr. Luong has done an excellent job in making the dentures that I feel very comfortable to wear. Good price for the dental service & it's located in a nice neighborhood. Dr. Dean Luong is a wonderful & friendly neighborhood dentist. Benefit of D & D Dental is that they have workers who can speak in a variety of languages from English, to Spanish, to Vietnamese. D & D is where I got my wisdom tooth removed & the procedure was done beautifully with no pain. In addition, they did a good job with the teeth cleaning & the price for the dental service are better compare to other dentists. The office is small but very organized & exactly like those "Small Town Neighborhood Dentist". Place is clean & have a well hygiene for safety & health. He is very direct about what needs to get done and what can wait until later. If you want a good and honest dentist that will go straight to the point then he is the one. Finding a dentist during this COVID time is rough but having a tooth ache is rougher! I was finally able to finally find this dentist to help me but when I get there and after xrays he says there's nothing wrong. Then jumps to I needed a root canal and there's nothing he can do. Then why be open to help with emergencies only to tell me the pain I'm in is essentially no big deal and there's nothing visually that seems to the be the problem but now I need a root canal? So fast forward, ok then do it but only one person in the office can do them and of course he wasn't there. Honestly just seems like he didn't want to do anything to begin with and just wasted my time. I'm really fearful of the dentist to begin with so I'm really disappointed in the place and will not be going back. Sad to say they were in no way helpful and I'm still in pain despite attempting to get this taken care of. I came here for a regular cleaning and I got more than just that...at no extra cost! I came in a couple minutes before my 12pm appointment to fill out the new patient paperwork (took like 2-3 min) with my health insurance I've never used before. The receptionist was able to connect with my insurance and make sure everything was correct (props to her, as I was little to no help...). Everything was done very swiftly and I was seated right away. The assistant came in and started doing the X-rays. Man I hated those X-rays as a kid! They always made me gag. But this time? Nope. She did it very well, and if she noticed I was starting to feel uncomfortable she was able to adjust the shape of it very well. Afterwards, Dr. Dean Luong came and told me everything he was planning to do. I told him this was my first dentist visit in 2+ years. He was very nice and very, very well communicated. He made sure I knew everything he was planning to do. I also wanted to mention that I hope J. H.'s review doesn't deter anyone from coming here. I actually didn't see J.H.'s review before coming (written the day before my visit). I didn't experience any unusual waits or inappropriate stalling. The ~3ish minute wait I did have after my X-rays was fine. I figured they were analyzing the X-rays and/or planning what to do with the procedures. I'll patiently wait that time to have precise and painless work performed on my teeth and gums. Plus, I'd rather wait knowing the dentists are not rushing to get people in and out quick. I want quality in what I pay for. However, if you are on a very tight schedule, maybe schedule your health care appointments on a day you're more free. You never know what can happen during a procedure! TIPS: - It was a little hard looking for this place lol (maybe a fail on my part). It's actually next to the Vons gas station next door to a donut shop. Don't confuse it with the D & D Sporting Goods shop in the same plaza! - They don't always call you to remind you of your appointment; make sure you're on top of your schedule! - Walk-ins welcome! Honestly, I'm kind of speechless about all these glowing reviews. I had been assigned to this dental office by my dental HMO a long time ago after my previous dentist retired, however I never used them. Two days ago, my jaw started hurting so I called and they said, "Just come in you don't need an appointment." So I went in and waited for two hours in a swelteringly hot lobby--the western sun comes in the windows and bakes the place. Finally, I saw the dentist. They took three x-rays, he poked and prodded for maybe two minutes, then he told me I needed to have my teeth deep cleaned and I had a fractured filling and I would need a crown and maybe a root canal. It was very difficult to understand his English so I didn't feel like I got everything explained to my satisfaction.. Then he gave me some prescription mouthwash, told me to use it on the sore area and come back next week. I went back up front and was told I had to pay $50. I asked why I had to pay, because my HMO pays for exams and X-rays. The very young, pretty but lacksadasical office assistant went back to ask the doctor. She came back and said the treatment "wasn't covered" but I only had to pay $45. It still seemed very odd to me, but I got out my checkbook. Then she said, "No checks." So I paid with my credit card, and asked for a treatment plan and sheet showing what the procedures were that were performed so I could call my dental plan and ask what was covered and not covered. She said she didn't know but she would ask the doctor. I sat back down in the baking lobby and waited and waited. All I ended up getting was a little receipt ripped out of one of those generic receipt books you can buy at the office store. No treatment plan. No itemized receipt. Nothing. I finally got tired of waiting and left. Today, I called my insurance company and they said the treatment should have been covered and they needed to see the treament plan and code to see why it would not be. Good luck on that one. I won't be going back, I just asked for a new dentist. This dental office collected a lot of money for my file over the years, and as far as I'm concerned, when I finally needed care, they ripped me off. Also, who is this Bev that the other reviewers are referred to her bad review and why has that review disappeared? Certainly after my experience I would expect other bad reviews and why is that one missing? read more

The staff need to be more professional but the Doctor is nice. He took out my wisdom teeth while injected with lido. I didn't go under for this procedure and i had the most wonderful experience sounds weird but its true. All i felt was pressure No pain. I am not happy about this place. I have been in the dental field for 9 years so I know what a great dentist is. I went in for a routine cleaning. After being sat down I looked at the equipment and saw that the cotton pliers and oral mirror were dirty. They put out the instruments before you even enter the room so you don't even see them open a sterilized pouch. I asked the Dental Assistant to get a new basic setup because mine was dirty. Then the Dentist came in, and the office is pretty small, I did not hear him wash his hands between the last patient and myself. Just gross For the cleaning, it was terrible. First they did zero pre existing conditions charting. No marking down if i had missing teeth, charting fillings or checking the pocket depths of my gums. The actual cleaning was poor, after leaving I still had to floss to remove stuff from between my teeth and there is still plaque on my upper molars near the gum line. He went around so quick, then flossed extremely hard by ramming it in between my teeth and taking no care. After all that he then did an irrigation. I wasn't told what this irrigation was or if I wanted it, he just did it. After he finished I asked what that was and he said it was a disinfecting solution. I'm pregnant and I for sure do not want extra junk used in my mouth where it enters my blood stream without my consent. To top it all off I head to the front to check out and this irrigation solution I wasn't even asked or told about, cost me an extra $5. Horrible experience. I've worked with some great dentists and this guy just doesn't care, he does his own thing without consulting the patients and without following OSHA guidelines for Infection control. read more

Just went here for my girlfriend's first dentist appt in a while. She called, said she was a new patient & asked if they took her insurance. The girl on the phone said that it was fine & scheduled her an appt two weeks away. We just left because apparently she's "not on the roster" for the month & needs to make the dentist her primary before she can even be seen. If this is the process, fine. But for us to waste our time to come here when we could have easily taken care of this in the two weeks beforehand shows a lack of an educated staff on procedure & frankly a lack of professionalism. Both of the brothers are Dentists at this office- Both of their names begin with the letter "D"- thus, D&D Dental. They are the best Dentists I've ever been to. My family and I love them. They've treated my wife and I, as well as our children 10, 8, 4 years old, for over 12 years. No pain whatsoever. Great diagnosis. They've referred us for pedia care for my young one, as well as braces for my older kids. The environment is clean and all the employees are professional and friendly. They've gone above and beyond to accomodate us, in regards to scheduling and rescheduling appts. I've referred many of our friends to this office and they all remained loyal customers. Give this office a try- you won't be sorry- no need to be scared to go to the Dentist office with these guys. They're great!!!! read more

If you have HMO dental insurance, don't bother using this office. The first available appointment for me, with HMO insurance, was 6 weeks away. I explained that I had a dental emergency and was in a lot of pain. I was told I could walk-in. As I waited in the lobby for two hours I heard the receptionist give a same day appointment and another appointment for the next day. The person who called for a same day appointment was seen before me. I asked the receptionist if patients were treated differently based on insurance and she reluctantly nodded. PPO and cash patients are given priority. I also paid $35 for Dr. Luong to WRITE me a prescription for pain medication which I then took to a pharmacy to fill. It has been five days since my visit to D&D, I am still in pain and waiting for a referral to an oral surgeon. I called the insurance company today, and they still have not received a request for a referral. If Dr. Luong does not like what HMO insurance pay for services, please don't sign agreement with HMO companies. I will be switching dental offices after I get through my current dental problem because I don't trust that I will get quality care from D&D based on my HMO insurance and I will be nickel and dimed for additional services. read more
