Complete crap sold me junk transmission for $1100, with a 30 day warranty lasted 31 days. Really not even 31 days they delivered to the shop that was putting it in. The shop was backed up, so they waited 2 weeks to put it in, then I drove it for 16 days! But D&D said warranty was from day of delivery to mechanic shop! So it only lasted 16 days for real. Was told by lawyers it was cost more to sue,just count it as a loss and that's what I did! read more

D & D built a custom spec'd 360 Mopar Motor for me. I am really picky about what I wanted and the target HP and torque. I supplied most of the parts myself but left them to make critical decisions on things like pistons and rings and bearings, push rods etc. They also advised me to have my newly purchased aluminum heads gone through to be safe, which I did and they found a few issues and corrected them with these 'new' pieces.. TOTALLY SATISFIED. Complex build, hit all my targets. Engine is now in vehicle and running great. Dyno info was really helpful and gave me confidence that I had a nice strong motor even before install.. I am bringing in 2 more engines to do next week, I think that pretty much says it all. And this next project is way more complex than the last but I have total trust in what they do... Look forward to seeing my Baby Hemi (271 1956 Hemi) all done.. Thanks guys! read more

I am a repeat customer and have bought 2 different engines from Dave at D&D Engines when I lived outside of Chattanooga TN in the past. I was 100% satisfied with each engine as they worked flawlessly. I now live in Hawaii and need a transfer case for my Jeep Commander. D&D was the 1st place I called. I would rather pay shipping costs to Hawaii for a unit that comes from D&D simply because I know it will serve mine and my family's needs well in the future. I called D and D looking for a Audi 2.0 engine, Dave said he didn't have one but would locate me one and would call me back once he found one. He called me back about 10 min later and told me he found one and told me a price of $3000.00 plus tax. I told him I wanted it and asked him how I could pay for it. He said I could pay for it when I picked it up but he could save me some money if I paid him and he paid for it because his tax rate was smaller than the county I would be picking it up in, so that's what I did. He give me a bill pay account # and I went to walmart money center and send cash to him using bill pay. Once he got his money ($3165.00) he text me a picture of the receipt and told me where I needed to go to pick it up. Two days later I left work 5 hrs early and drove 2 hrs to Sports and Imports in Fyffe Al to pick up my engine, when I got there and saw the engine I saw the oil pan was crushed and a few other minor things broke. I then called Dave at D and D and told him I didn't want it, he called sports and imports and they said they removed the oil pan and inspected it and found nothing wrong, so he called me back and said it was fine if I didn't want it but the engine was good that I should go ahead and get it because I wouldn't find another one that cheap, so took it home. When I took the lower oil pan off to put mine on I found the plastic baffle crushed so I took a closer look and found the upper oil pan ( that is made of aluminum not steel) cracked in two places and the front edge slightly bent upwards, and the upper oil pan is part of the structure of the engine because it is also part of the bellhousing. I took pictures and sent them to Dave and he told me he would meet me halfway (which is an hour drive) and get the engine and have the cracks welded. I told him I just wanted a refund because I was afraid there would be hidden damage that would show up after the 30 day warranty was up and he told me that was fine but I had to take it back to sports and imports because it was their warranty not his and once he got his money back he would mail me a check. So I left work 5 hrs early and drove another 2 hrs up there to return it. After I dropped it off and left I called Dave and asked him about my full refund and he told me that sports and imports would charge a restocking fee and he didn't know how much my refund would be until he got his money back from them, so I called sports and imports and asked how much he was going to charge and he said he didn't charge me a restocking fee. A couple of days later Dave from D and D text me a picture of my refund check and it was $475.00 short so I called him very angry about it and wanted to know where the rest of my money was and he said they charged him a restocking fee, I told him he was a liar because I had already talked to the guy about it, then he changed his story and said he was charging me a restocking fee and a credit card fee for paying for the engine with a credit card. To start with I paid him with cash not a credit card and for second he never saw the engine much less restock it, and third he never disclosed any restocking fee and it says nothing on my sales receipt about a restocking fee so he is a LIAR AND A THIEF. In short I bought an engine at a premium price that was not a special order that was supposed to be good and all I had to do was swap the lower oil pan but ended up with one that needed more work than what I was told in the beginning, and you should never weld on an engine and since I didn't do what Dave wanted he kept $475 of my money. do not ever use dave jones d & d engines & transmissions 14044 us-231 a hazel green, al 35750 he sold me a used engine for $1,585 with a "30-day warranty" on it. and then when the oil pan got a crack in it within the time frame of the 30 days (not up til sept. 4, 2017) he charged me for a used oil pan and the freight on the oil pan = $60 total he did not honor the 30-day warranty on the engine. the courier did not bring me a warranty on the oil pan. his courier said he "could not" give me a receipt for the payment of the oil pan when he delivered it to my door. i said i would bring him a piece of paper so he could write me a receipt. he said, uh....i can't write that well (probably could not write at all) so you'll have to write it. i did, made a copy of it, and asked that he give the copy to dave jones. (lol, i did not pay him the cash until after i wrote out the receipt and made a copy of it for mr. jones.) i have let dave jones know i am never doing business with him again, will tell everyone i know not to do business with him, and that i am reporting him to the proper authorities immediately. in the words of one of my very good friends: "that is a sorry, lowdown way to do business." this is just plain wrong, crooked, and dishonest and word needs to be put out there that this is true - without a doubt. read more
