Went in for a mani-pedi. Guy was nice enough but had to paint my toenails 3 separate times because he kept putting the light directly on them instead of above them. He squared my almond-shaped nails, and not evenly. He completely tore up my cuticles on both my hands and feet. Made them bleed and then sprayed them with nail polish remover. He then tried to put the polish on the still-bleeding wounds. I didn't finish my service. It was concerning to me that after that mistake, he still thought it was appropriate to put paint on my nails. I genuinely think he just didn't know what he was doing. read more

I went to DDS Nails in downtown Sonora today for the first time for nails and eyebrow waxing. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely painful and upsetting. When I was taken back for my eyebrows, everything seemed normal at first. Then the technician left the room and returned without explaining anything. When she continued, she began letting the wax completely dry and then picking it off with her fingernails. I have never experienced this at any salon. It was immediately very painful. I asked her if the wax was supposed to dry because it hurt badly. She told me yes, that she was "trying something new" and using a new wax product. I was shocked and asked why she would test a new product on me without my consent. The pain was so intense that I started crying and tried to sit up. She physically blocked me with her arm and said, "Let me fix it please." There was hardened wax stuck to my eyebrow that would not come off, and my skin started bleeding. I was crying as I left the room. I told them I was not paying for this service. Even then, they could not remove the dried wax. I asked the owner if I needed to go to the hospital, and she said no, while continuing to apply Neosporin and cold towels. The more they touched it, the worse it hurt. What is most upsetting is how dismissive they were. I was told it was "just an accident," with no real concern for the pain, bleeding, or shock I experienced. Customers should never be test subjects for new products or techniques, especially on their face. This was unsafe, unprofessional, and traumatic. I have never had a bad salon experience before, and this has left me sad, shaken, and honestly afraid to get my eyebrows done anywhere again. I would not wish this experience on anyone. read more

We made an appointment that morning on a Friday for a 12noon appointment, but when we were there they also took walk-ins. We did the "deluxe" gel-mani and pedi. For both of us it was $200. My sister and I went in today to have a pedicure. We opted for one step up as far as upgrades go for the pedicure the man and woman that were doing our feet were in such a hurry what was supposed to be at least 45 minute long pedicure was more like 20 minutes. They did a terrible job from the beginning to the end, barely trimmed any cuticles hardly any massage which included no massage on the feet at all. The polish she chose, and I chose was clumpy and old. My sister told the man that he was gonna have to redo her toenail because it was all smudged up and he literally grabbed her hand and pushed it away, then tried to fix it with cuticle nippers, pressing down on the drop of polish on her big toe. Don't even let me start with the polish, which was all over the toes and cuticles. They didn't even clean it up. We were like really OK This is crappy. My toenails were cut so short too ! This was the first time I for me in this nail salon. I was running late and decided to give it a try since I couldn't get an appointment at my usual salon. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by a young man named John, he carried my purse and soda and walked me over to the pedicure chair with a delightful smile. Kim gave me an awesome pedicure. John filled my nails and was so gentle. this meant a lot to me because my fingers and hands are full of painful arthritis, which I had made him aware of that at the start. He kept asking me if I was OK which I appreciated. John also did a wonderful job on my nails.The owner D came to me and asked if I was satisfied with the services, she was also very pleasant and happy. I will definitely come back. It was such a refreshing experience for me, especially for the fact I was a little nervous about trying a new place. I am only here 2 to 3 months every year then I go back to Los Angeles. I walked in around 4, 2 hours before they close, but I did call and ask if that was okay and she said yes come in. I wouldn't have been upset if she told me she couldn't do my nails today since it was kind of close to closing time, I am upset that she acted very fed up and rude while doing my nails. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she rolled her eyes and put her head in her hands acting like she was already over it, I get people have bad days, but you shouldn't take it out on customers paying you for your service. Some of my nails aren't painted enough and splotchy and some don't have enough acrylic so they are bendy and ready to pop off. They don't quite look how I wanted but she already seemed fed up so I didn't want to correct anything. My friend also got a pedicure that was said to be 20$ but got charged for 35 for just polish and them to leave her feet getting soggy then come and rub them for like 5 minutes. read more

Went for a pedicure and let the clinician know I did NOT want gel polish. She ended up using the gel polish, one coat, no top coat and sent me on my way. The paint barely covered my nails and was a mess within an hour. They got us right into a pedi massage chair in weekend when super busy. Friendly and a good pedicure. Nice clean and well decorated business. The only downside I would say is they are so busy that there isn't much time to choose your nail color. Otherwise you can get a basic pedi for about $30 in 40 minutes when they're busy! My $40 pedicure lasted exactly 15 minutes. The guy that did it was looking at the front door the whole time he was massaging my feet so he basically massaged my shin over and over and over. Horrible place, nail popped off 2 days later. Worker accused me of breaking the nail and it not popping off. She cut my cuticles too far back and caused them to bleed. She rushed me out even when I had an appointment. She didn't charge me for fixing the popped off nail, however the next day another one popped off, so I was done! I am out $80 with no nails 3 days later because it was so easy to just pop the rest of them off. Usually I struggle to take the nails off and it is so hard, but these popped off 2-3 days later! Nails should last 2 or more weeks not 2-3 days. Poor quality and unprofessional! Spend your hard working money somewhere else! read more

I went in for a walk in and half way through she let me know she had an appointment, So when her appointment showed up I was moved the seat next to the girl FOR 40 MINUTES. I waited for 40 minutes with my nails not even close to done. I wanted a a red and black ombré and I called ahead to make sure they could do that, they said they can and it was $60. I couldn't go to nails art because they were closed and d&d nails was the first recommended. She added a holographic heart without asking, and I cannot speak up for myself that well. My nails came out wonky, different shapes and overall I just don't like :(( D was nice though other than the heart. I have to file my nails to get the shape I like. So I sat sideways until the gentlemen wiped it off with a paper towel...?! Where is the antibacterial cleaning...?! The lady only engaged when she had to, like what color, etc. Never asked how are you.... How is your day.... She only spoke in her native language to her co-workers.... I had a chance to look at the quality of my polish from the manicure and pedicure in the sunlight, and the polish does not cover the nail, and it appears I can see the different layers on the manicure.... When she was filing my nails, I did not get the vibe there was a lot of effort going into really doing a good job (pride in the task), more like lets get this done and move on.... I had a full Set of nails put on and I asked for acrylic but they put gel on, which no big deal if done right. When she was painting my nails she wasn't going all the way down to my cuticles and I asked her to please do that. She went back again and went down a little further but not all the way. I also mentioned to her that my pinky is as crooked. She didn't fix it. By the time she was done and I looked at them they were terrible. They are misshapen, smudged and crooked. My mother and I went to D & D for gel manicure and deluxe spa with gel pedicure! They were very busy which is always a good sign, especially when customers are willing to wait.
