Can't wait to go back to enjoy this view!

This is exactly what we were looking for- a charming locale that made you feel right at home. The size of the suite was perfect for us since we had a friend traveling with us. The kitchen was well equipped. The bathroom was spacious for 3 people to use and the breakfast provided every morning is delicious and gets you prepared for the day in Yosemite. Brenda and John are super star hosts - they suggested great hikes and fantastic alternatives of not so touristy things to do.

The food was great the place was wonderful!

Can't wait to go back! John and Brenda; you are doing God's work at your B&B by being as kind as your are and as welcoming as your smiles and by the care and wisdom behind your advice and suggestions! We will see you again my friends and thanks again for the tip on picking up a misters for our day at a wedding in the 100 degree heat!!! Major score, we got so many envious glares that we began misting people we didn't even know....good times, you're the best!!! The Sterling suite was so clean, spacious and comfy!! Take great care~ Eryn & Miguel

    View from the patio. UHmazing!

My first time using Air B&B (first time staying in any B&B/lodge) and it was fanstamal! The Rose Suite was perfect for 2 adults and 2 children. There is a little closet under the stairs which entertained the girls (11 year olds) for days! It was their little club house. Brenda was very nice and very welcoming. The views from the patio/balcony are beautiful. I really have no complaints about this place. (Well we did forget a couple of things and were never notified... Maybe they didn't notice but I'm awaiting a response to my email. :|) Highly recommended!

Quite frankly, we were nightmare guests for this wonderful couple! First, we were all going to stay in one cottage, but upon arrival, Neil observed us trying to get my 88-year-old handicapped mother up the stairs inside. He consulted privately with Carol and very kindly offered us the unit below theirs that had the bathroom, bedroom, and living room on one floor. What a life saver! Mom and I stayed there--at no extra charge! I don't know what we would have done otherwise. Then when our car broke down in Yosemite Village, Neil drove us the almost 20 miles back to the village the next day, waited while we sorted out the car and a place to stay in the village, drove us to our next place, then helped us unload the bags into our lodging!! OMG. We were really astounded at Neil's graciousness, as well as Carol's. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well appointed. We strongly recommend anyone who wants reasonable rates close to Yosemite Village check out Cozy Bear. You can save a lot of money by bringing your own food, packing lunches, and enjoying this lovely little find nestled in the woods of Wawona.

I stayed in Cozy Bear North with my husband and 3 young children in June. They have online…read morereservations, but I called to speak with Carol personally. She explained the fees and terms clearly and sent all the details by mail. She also very kindly allowed us to arrive before the 4pm check-in time when I explained we would be driving 4 hours from home with a cooler full of perishable groceries and wanted to drop them off in the refrigerator before proceeding on to the Valley for some site-seeing. Location was easy to find because I used Google maps prior to setting out. Good thing because our GPS got us to the road, but not to the specific address. Also helpful is that the entire Yosemite West neighborhood is on Google street view. Neal greeted us upon arrival and was very welcoming and friendly, but not intrusive. He and Carol live next door and invited us to call them if we needed anything and said they would come right over, but we never needed to call them. Location is the closest you can get without being in Yosemite Valley itself. It takes about 30 minutes to drive to the Valley Visitor Center, but is very near destinations such as Glacier Point, Tunnel View, Bridalveil Fall, and Wawona. The kitchen had cooking and baking implements, and a few ingredients, such as cooking oil, coffee, tea, sugar, and condiments, but these are apparently left from previous guests, but looked usable. We brought most of our groceries from home, and bought a few items each day at the Market in Yosemite Valley. There is no place to buy food or gas in Yosemite West. There is a gas fireplace and games and VCR/DVD in the living room, and an outdoor patio with a BBQ grill, but we didn't use any of these much because we were out all day enjoying nature. Beds were comfortable, there was ample storage, and the 3 kids fit perfectly in their own room with 1 double and 1 twin bed. Only slight inconveniences were having 1 bathroom, a dining table that only fits 4, and the many bear-themed decorations which crowded the space on bedroom dressers, counters, and beds. Also be aware that there are 4 separate levels to the house, so you will be going up and down stairs constantly. This is a Duplex, so occasionally we could hear the Cozy Bear South guests moving about or speaking, but it wasn't a problem because they were not overly loud. The neighborhood was quiet at night while we were there. We cleaned the kitchen and took out the garbage as instructed and Carol and Neal refunded our full cleaning deposit before we even got home from our trip. Overall, this is a very comfortable and conveniently located place to stay. It is very good for families with kids and if you like saving money by cooking your own food and don't mind washing dishes while on vacation.

We have stayed in several of her units and the El Capitan cottage easily accommodates a family of 4, (and can accommodate up to max 6 for an add'l fee)with a queen bed in one room and 2 twins in the other bedroom. One amazing bonus of that unit is it has an in-unit washer and dryer. The entrance is private and the unit has a full kitchen and bbq propane grill so you can save money on eating out and prep your own meals if you want! Vons and other grocery stores are only 16 mins away in Oakhurst. We highly recommend this B&B.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE!!!…read more Our experience at this property was extremely disappointing and upsetting. We arrived with all the required documentation and credentials for our son's legitimate medical alert service dog. We understand that many businesses have had negative experiences with fake service animals, and we were more than willing to answer any questions. Our service dog is highly trained, well-behaved, and we always maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness. Unfortunately, after initially being friendly, the owner became very aggressive, began yelling at us, and refused to accommodate us because of the service dog. Rather than having a respectful conversation, we were threatened with calling the police. After leaving the property, we parked just outside the parking lot, just by the road to look for alternative accommodations. At that point, the owner's son came outside yelling at us, demanding that we leave immediately. We were shocked by the hostility and the way we were treated!!! Beyond the poor customer service, this experience demonstrated a lack of understanding and respect for the rights of people with disabilities and the protections afforded to legitimate service dog handlers under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We cannot recommend staying here under any circumstances. We hope the owners take the time to educate themselves about ADA requirements and learn to treat guests with disabilities with the respect and dignity they deserve.

I enjoyed the balcony, comfy bed, and clean bathroom. I found it beautiful that there are plenty of stellar jays flying over the B&B inn. There was sights of deers, butterflies, and many other creatures to see. The balcony also had comfy rocking chairs which gives a homey feeling. For breakfast there was only a bagel or pastry nothing else. If you're driving there are many restaurants and food places in the towns an hour before B&B inn, but after passing Oakhurst town there will be far drives to be able to go to marts or other food places.

The room we had was the Mariposa room and it was beautiful and large! We were amazed as everything looked clean and there were 2 bathrooms(one had the shower and the other had the toilet). Please make sure to read ALL of the rules that are in BOTH bathrooms that are hanging on the wall(one of them is right near the toilet and the other is in the other bathroom near the hair dryer). Pamela had also greeted us and told us about the continental breakfast and that you are to eat it in your own room. She would later enter your room when you are not there to pick up the dishes. She was also helpful with any questions in regards to what to visit in Yosemite. We loved our private balcony and the view of the stream flowing by. Pamela surprised us by hauling up some rocking sitting chairs on the last night of our stay onto the balcony. We enjoyed that very much and the peacefulness. We also enjoyed the fridge in the room but also wished there was a freezer as well as we had brought our own ice packs. Cons: As much as we did not mind Pamela coming into our room to get the breakfast dishes while we were gone, we did notice a few things that felt odd. First, she took our used shower towels that was hanging on the inside of the horseshoe rack and rehung it on top of the horseshoe rack holder. She even took out the squishy non-slip padding in the shower and rehung it. She made our beds(though we could of sworn that one of the rules was that there was NOT going to be any room cleaning, etc. She took some of our other towels that we had used and replaced it with others(which was fine). BUT, she THREW AWAY my small styrofoam cup that I had left nicely on the sink counter. I had brought it from home and had used it to rinse my mouth after brushing my teeth. Who does that?? Who throws away someone else's things? I was very upset and it kind of made our stay there less enjoyable knowing that someone had gone through your stuff. Overall, it is a nice place to stay with a nice room and view but think about items that belong to you and what things you wouldn't want anyone to touch or throw away. We also suggest you bring your own food as there isn't really a place to eat at except for a place slightly down the street that sells sandwiches(it was good) or at the expensive restaurant at the hotel down the street. If you don't bring your own food, you would need to drive ALL the way back down the windy road into town.
