I didn't even want to pick one star! but they made me…read more Needless to say, my last time renting from moms rental in Hamilton was not a good experience, It will be my last time renting there!! First of all, the manager there shouldn't manage any type of business where he has to be in contact with the customers !! I rented a piece of equipment and the tire went flat one hour after starting my project. This was not caused by miss use or negligence. So when returning it, I asked for a credit to rent the same equipment the following weekend. I was told that the only way I could be credited is if I took the equipment that day only. So long story short, I got charged for the full rental of the skid steer and a compactor and the trailer. a $600 lesson on what company is honest and which has a unprofessional piece for a manager? They will lose out of probably 5-10k over the next five years from me! and a few contractors I know that had issues with the management long before my issue have already, or considered not using their services anymore!

The skid steer would randomly set the parking brake which only affects one track causing the machine to turn unexpectedly. This caused me to nearly hit my son with the forks we were using which would have likely broken his leg. We had to fight with the machine several times to get the parking brake to release. Altogether an extremely unsafe setup. When I returned the machine I informed them of the issue and that it seemed to happen after hard use. They called me an hour later to say that they ran it around the yard a bit and couldn't reproduce the issue so it didn't happen and the machine was fine. I was also told that they had never had a problem with those machines before, but when I mentioned it to a coworker he said they had returned one for the exact same problem. Unsafe equipment, not believing customer complaints, charging extra for every attachment (Caterpillar rents a similar unit cheaper, with a trailer that has ALL the attachments, but it was broken down). Not only will I not be returning, I'll let the excavating company I work for know to go elsewhere. Erin Chamberlain
