    Wakeford Contracting - Recent Work

Mark and his crew member Justin we're absolutely amazing! We hired them to build out a closet…read morespace, and they completed the job in roughly 2 days. They spent hours troubleshooting and fixing an electrical issue to ensure we had a great experience. They also spent a lot of time talking through the nuances of the project, like what they would advise, and how they thought it would be best to complete. I look forward to hiring them for other jobs as we continue to make our house a home.

After an intensive search, I found Mark the owner of Wakeford Consulting. He was able to come to inspect immediately and showed me that he would be able to level it and he did not try to over sell me. He was fast and did an amazing job. He did let me know that they could do the installation if Home Depot kept delaying. Home Depot tried to schedule me over a month out so I called Mark and he was available within a couple of days. Along with installing the floor, he let me know that he could also take a look at my outside deck which I had told him needed replacing. At the same time as installing the floor, he was able to order and have delivered the wood needed for the deck. Between both projects it took about 2 weeks to complete which was absolutely amazing. Mark and his worker Justin are extremely hard working men. They are honest and quite enjoyable to work with. The pricing was very reasonable and I highly recommend them for any general contracting needs.

Unfortunately due to my experience I will not be using Hoff for any work and do not recommend them…read more I reached out to a couple of contractors to get a quote to see how much it would be to get new fixtures and tiling in one of my bathrooms. And at the very least what it would take just to fix the dipping especially in case it was dripping behind the wall which was what I was really concerned about if that was happening. While taking a look and inspecting the situation/dripping, he completely broke off the spout from wall. After which he immediately exclaims that the spout must have been super glued on. What?! Which I can assure you it was not and note that I have lived in this place for 20 years now as well. Now if he would have said, oh god, sorry, it's just so old and corroded, this could have happened to anyone...or something along those lines...but no, he immediately jumped to trying to blame me somehow that the spout came off and to try to deflect any fault or responsibility. Meanwhile, the whole time he's there from start to finish he just keeps going on and on about renovating my whole bath and how I need to get in touch with the designer he uses and mentions her name over and over again. But that's not what I asked him here to quote me on and it was then so obvious he had no desire or inclination to do the work I had asked him here for in the first place and was only interested in very aggressively and awkwardly "upselling" me. Note - a very strong emphasis on the word aggressively. Note during the time he was there he stated that he was pretty confident it wasn't dripping behind the wall and that the dripping was due to it no longer shutting off all the way due to aging and to fix that would require the handle/faucet being replaced (not using the technical term here) which would require cutting into the tile to get to and replace (there is no access point behind the shower). He ended up leaving without giving me a quote at all for anything (not even that he would get back to get back to me with one), and just kept saying how he will send me the contact info to his designer to start coordinated a full remodel. AND more importantly he left without any regard to how he's going to at least make me whole and put the spout back on the wall. I had a friend (a male just in case he is one of many people who inadvertently takes advantage of women) call them to inquire about the broken off spout. I also called them after as well. Each time, they again kept saying how the spout was super glued on again trying to advert blame and trying to put it on me somehow and they were also now saying that is why it was dripping as well. Um, but he, himself said the cause of the dripping was due to the handle/valve shut-off mechanism (and has nothing at all to do with the spout). So how is putting a spout back on going to fix the dripping? But they ended up saying they would come out and put the spout back on for $300 and that I have to pay upfront and they will not book the appointment until they receive payment. So now I have to pay them to fix what they broke and pay BEFORE services are rendered? At this point I don't trust them and don't want to give them (or really anyone) money beforehand until the work is done and ensure I don't get scammed or something or if they don't fix it. And interestingly they also said they would fix the dripping as well which I then confirmed again that all they were doing was putting the spout back. So how was putting a spout back on going to fix the dripping? So at this point I'm really not trusting anything and said I would get back to them. I ended up contacting someone else who put the spout back on for $100 ($30 for parts for a new spout and the rest labor/trip, etc.). It took the person about a half an hour to put the spout back on. And of course it is still dripping as this person said it would as again, the spout has nothing to do with the dripping issues and I would need to replace the handle/valve, etc. Hoff was going to charge me $300 for this same work. Since Hoff was the one who accidentally broke it off he should have been the one offering to charge me the least amount to fix it, e.g. charging me for the parts only and no labor or something to that effect, but no, they had no desire to even negotiate or discuss how they would make me at least whole again and try to make the situation right. In the end I ended up having to pay out $100 all because Hoff came to my place solely to upsell me with no intentions of doing the work I was originally asking for. And I do not recommend using these people for any of your work that may be needed as this example gives a little insight or inclination as to how you will be treated and how they will [not] address or adequately deal with any issue that may arise. And most likely will keep upselling you for more or additional work (and perhaps work you may not even need?).

We recently purchased cabinets for our wet bar from Stone City. Both the owner, Babu, and his employee, Sanjana, came to our home to take measurements. We explicitly requested wall cabinets with glass, obviously for display purposes in the bar. Later, my wife and I met Sanjana at Stone City, where we again discussed having glass cabinets. Sanjana even mentioned that we would need to have the interior of the cabinets painted to match the exterior since we were opting for clear glass, and we agreed to it. However, they sent us FROSTED (Opaque) glass cabinets, which was clearly a mistake on Sanjana's part. When I sent a picture to them, they immediately became defensive and blatantly lied, claiming that we had ordered frosted glass for our bar cabinets. Either Babu was misled by his employee, or they both deliberately tried to cover up their mistake. Instead of accepting their mistake, they ignored my call and responded with long whatsapp messages defending themselves and falsely blaming us for the order. I did not negotiate even a single dollar off their quoted price, and my biggest mistake was trusting them and handing over the check for the full amount without even opening the cabinets palet that they have sent. Trust is valuable in this world, but unfortunately, there are businesses like stone city waiting to take wrongful advantage of it. The only silver lining in this experience is that I am grateful I did not order my countertop from them as well. Babu and Sanjana, You both know what you have done is not right. I will never do business with you again, nor will I recommend you to anyone.

So we thought we would give it one more shot with Stone City. Am I glad we did. They were able to make the installation fit our schedule and came in at about 70% of the other bids. They did everything right except did too much grinding inside our kitchen which left a film of dust on everything. After cleaning that, we had to use a razor blade over parts of the countertops where they had left some adhesive type substance. I am not downgrading them so much because, like I stated, everything else was in line and the price was great. Sanjana was great to work with and very responsive. I do recommend them and will use them again but will make sure they know to not do any fabrication inside.

Our showers were leaking through the ceiling below and we could only take baths! I contacted a bunch of companies to see about fixing the issues. Jim from All About Bathrooms got back to me promptly and set up a FaceTime consultation to take a look at our situation. His assessment lined up with the other companies that we had take a look. His quote process was straightforward and we used All About Bathrooms to demo and rebuild our bathrooms (the issues the previous owners left us required a full rebuild of the showers). His team was professional, punctual, and got the job done well. Our project was complicated and had more than a few challenges but they handled them all. In a time when you hear stories about people being left in the lurch during rennovation projects it was great to have Jim and his team taking care of us. He was actually able to start work earlier than expected, which is not something you often hear about contractors. The end results look beautiful and more importantly are now done right, so we don't have to worry about passing on a problem to the next owners whenever we move away. I would recommend All About Bathrooms to anyone and would work with them again.

Our master suite bathroom was a typical 5 pieces - large garden tub, small shower, toilet and double sinks. We've been in the house for 10+ years and have used the tub twice - both times was to wash the dogs. It was time for a new bathroom. I called 3 places for bids and one of them was All About Bathrooms. Based on Jim's suggestion we removed the tub all together in favor of a large walk-in shower. The entire process with Jim and crew was painless. We are extremely happy with our new bath room. Our next projects are the remodel of the guest bathroom and the kitchen cabinets replacements which we will call on Jim again. So, whenever you are ready with your project give Jim at All About Bathrooms a call. You will not be disappointed.
