Kinda bummed by my experience here. Food was a solid 4, but service was a 2. Service: We stopped by for dinner on Thursday June 1st and the hostess was very rude. My co-worker and I walked up to the hostess station and said hi to her. The hostess looked up and just stared at us, looking us up and down saying nothing. I was taken aback so I just stood there for a second before saying that we had 2. She again said nothing, just staring at us and handed menus to the person standing next to her to seat us. So weird! Wouldn't you want to greet people or at least acknowledge their presence? Super bad service! Our waitress seemed friendly, which was good. When leaving, that same hostess was there and just glared at us while we left. Maybe she thought she knew us? Food: I really enjoyed my nachos and my coworker liked her pony shoe. Today is a dark rainy day. Every window blind in the room was shut tight. The dining room is very poorly lit. Perhaps this is by design to hide the faces of the rude blonde waitress working there today who accosted us (not the one who actually served us). She basically screamed about my touching the blind and opening it by adjusting the slats to less than 45 degrees open. The window faces south and it was the middle of a cloudy rainy day. "Sir you can't open up every blind. You are blinding people and they are complaining ". No way it was blinding unless you are a Morelock! I opened the blind because my mother in law has macular degeneration and needed some light to see what ended up being a mediocre meal at best. I won't ever be back. read more

One star is very generous. I have been here in past and it was good. Tonight it blew!! First thing, I had to inquire as to what the specials were. Gave her every leading question to offer them; but nope. I have never had an oyster appetizer served in a foil shell?? Do not waste your money. They actually said they were fresh?? I asked why you would take them out of their shell to put in foil, they appeared confused. Their signature item is a horseshoe. The burger must of sat out on a table all day before they cooked it. It was very mushy and just crumbled all over. Two bites, done!! I hope I do not get ill; as I believe it to be bad beef. 80.00 later, I will head to Steak n Shake for a 3.99 burger. read more

Absolutely loved this place! My husband is from here and has to have it every time we visit. The cheese sauce is absolutely amazing! This place was super busy on a Saturday evening. Being our first time we waited patiently for a table. After still waiting at 30 minutes we were told there is a second bar where there was no waiting. Wish I had that info 30 minutes ago! Anyway, we got settled in at a high top. Our wait staff was friendly and efficient. Couldn't have asked for anyone more attentive and pleasant. We each order a different horseshoe and a drink. The Darcy Red Ale is quenching with good flavor. I recommend. The horseshoes arrived promptly and hot. Both were very good and would have again. I've been here several times and have never been disappointed. Go for the horse (or pony if you aren't ravenous) shoe - I've had a regular and a buffalo chicken shoe. If you're unfamiliar, it's a Springfield staple: texas toast, meat choice, crinkle fries, cheese sauce. The bread and fries weren't soggy, hooray. And the cheese sauce is creamy without being too heavy. There's usually a wait, but we were in on a Saturday approx 6p within 15 mins - when we left there was a much longer wait. Make a reservation if you can! (Except on Sunday, they aren't open on Sundays). The service was great and waitress was helpful as this was my first horseshoe experience. I've been back several times and greatly enjoy the Irish nachos and tomatoe appetizers also. Others I've been with also enjoy their items - all have gotten shoes. The cheese sauce was good but there was no melted cheese as stated on the menu. The potatoes were fried nicely but were crinkle cut frozen to start with. For the price it was a disappointment. The corned beef version was fresh and tasty. The cheese sauce was light and creamy. The cheddar nuggets came with a bland marinara but were crispy and hot when served. If you get it, do the grill on the burgers, convection oven 400 deg, 12 mins on fries, toast the bread a few mins on low, slowly heat the cheese sauce and perfection! Was incredibly disappointed, I wanted the spinach salad without red peppers and was told NO.... the owner won't allow it. I did not understand that if the salad is made fresh why couldn't they just leave the red peppers off the salad. They say the salad is made fresh but could not alter the salad by not adding red peppers... I call bullshit. I was told the owner was at the restaurant so I asked to speak to the owner to find out why I could not have my salad the way I wanted, she then proceeded to bolt out front door and leave for the evening. I guess it doesn't matter that I am allergic to red peppers... caution to those that may have allergies; as Darcy's refuses to alter their food to accommodate. The staff was great and super apologetic that I could not have my salad.. So then I ordered a couple appetizers one of them was the breaded mushrooms.. She also checked in on us frequently but not too much, great conversation and just very very pleasant. You can always get a solid meal or appetizer at D'arcy's. The food is worth the wait for a table, no reservations accepted but I have never been forgotten by the hostess or had to wait more than 25 minutes. The staff hustle but don't make you feel like they need your table in 5 minutes. Known for the best horseshoe in Springfield, this place rocks the local favorite and also offers some creative weekly shoe specials. Check those out on the chalk board while you wait or walk by. Our favorites are the Irish Nacho's (yummy waffle fries loaded with nacho toppings), the Muffaletta (huge portion and delicious), salads & fish n chips. Not really as good as expected I live 40 mins away from Springfield and I do come often I had a lot of friends tell me this is good but whenever I went I got the horseshoe with my usual 2 buns on side well I got the horseshoe or so called horseshoe it only had one hamburger and quite a bit of fries and a lot of cheese Sauce and when I asked the waiter why don't I have two and they told me that it's only extra fries and cheese what? This is a go-to place for our family. Best horseshoes in town, super salads and there nothing like a Guinness to cap it off.

Lot of people native to Springfield told me that I must try Darcy's Pub for the Horseshoe, a local dish unique to the area. It's Texas toast buried underneath a huge bed of french fries topped with melted cheese and other various ingredients. I got the deluxe Horseshoe and was pretty underwhelmed. I am a pretty particular foodie, and for those like myself, you may be a bit disappointed. There was nothing really artisan about it. It's as if someone went to Aldi's, got frozen french fries, and poured melted cheese over it with ground beef. It was very simply and bland and kind of laid on there like anyone could do it. Four of us went here after a long day of Lincoln sight-seeing, and it was a delight. There was a bit of a wait, even though it was slightly before the dinner rush, but we got in within 20 minutes, which wasn't too bad. We ordered a horseshoe to share (which was apparently a strange thing to do, but oh well), because we all wanted to try different entrees but also experience the cheesy goodness of a horseshoe.The food is delicious and hearty, and they have Guinness on draft, which is always a plus. It's nothing super special however, and you should note that when they list chips as a side, they mean American chips and not french fries, which cost more. I really enjoyed the O'Blarney Bacon burger and hope I am able to go back to try some of their more Irish food. Our server was incredibly nice and was patient with us even though we took a while to decide what we wanted. They were also nice enough to change the television channel so we could see the Derby race, which was a plus. Would definitely come back to this place if I were in the area. read more

I'll have a traditional. 2 thick slices of bread toasted, lay flat on a plate (should be hot), add 2 juicy hamburger patties, add creamy cheese sauce (Welsh rarebit) then top with golden french fries sprinkle with a lil paprika! Bingo Yahtzee! You got yer-self a Shoe! If you ain't this hungry it's OK git a Pony-shoe it's the half size but just as yummy! Darcy's does this Springfield legend proud! I like D'Arcys, but I think I liked the old location better, so -1 star for that. The new place just feels like a Shoney's, despite the efforts they have made to make it feel like an Irish Pub. Maybe it's the crowd, I dunno, but there ya go. Horseshoes are pretty good here, but the sauce is a little on the thick side and has a tendency to congeal quickly. I like the fries, good selection of toppings (almost too many - you can't make a silk purse out of sow's ear - horseshoes are best kept simple), and the portions are more than generous. They only serve Pepsi, no coke, so I take another star off for that and the tasty yet gummy cheese sauce. read more
