    Crunchy Onion Rings

In Springfield for the weekend to attend the Mother Road Route 66 Car Show, and of course the weekend wouldn't be complete without a meal at Route 66 Motorheads. We were seated immediately and our server came right over and took our drink order. We settled on Onion Rings to start after a recommendation by our friendly server. She was right. They were piping hot, the crunchy coating and the onion was so tender on the inside, we managed to clean the plate. Pizza sounded good and they looked great as servers walked by with them. So pizza it was, and it was delicious. Route 66 Motorheads is more than a restaurant, it is a museum, incredible bar area and all around car showroom. There is so much to look at and see. It was a really fun destination with great food and drinks. There is plenty of parking in their own lot and the place does get busy. While we ate around 7 pm during the week we were seated right away, but you can expect a wait at times.

En route home from St.Louis and I was desperate for a decent meal. We tried to go to Cracker Barrel but they were packed and this place was two minutes away so I figured it was worth a shot. We were seated immediately. Orders were taken immediately. Adam got himself an order of corn dogs. Tony and I split the cheese cuds and nachos. Both were excellent. Cheese curds especially. The nachos were unique in that it was potato skins not corn nachos. Adam seemed to think the corn dogs were okay. Service was good overall. I enjoyed all the Route 66 memorabilia in the restaurant. No problems until the end of the meal when the place got super busy. I ordered us the Cookie DeVille. Big cookie with ice cream inside. After I ordered it the service slowed way down and we had to leave to get home so we eventually just got the big cookie with no ice cream. No adjusted bill either, so I never paid for it so I guess no harm done but I was irritated. Takes my review to three stars from four.

I really like the atmosphere, lots of automotive and rt 66 stuff. Good bar food, big menu. I had the club melt and a Yuengling. Stop here on the way home, it's halfway between home and Mizzou. Sit at the bar so service is good.

Good place - server was great. Never had a horseshoe before - unsure why so popular in Springfield have to do some research - but tasted good. Kids meal portion small for my kid - NO refills on Rootbeer - other than that food was good - good setting

Part restaurant part museum... I almost forgot about this place it's one of my favorite stops whenever I'm around and I thought I reviewed it by now. And obviously not. I haven't seen the live music but I'm sure it's a great venue with plenty of parking and food to eat and memorabilia to walk off a big meal. This place used to offer a yelp check in special of a draft or a cup of chili. I had them both and I prefer the beer more than the chili. Psst. Another local bar/restaurant owner also endorsed this place also especially for the chili. I've also experienced weekend lunch crowd and evening dinner here. I've been lucky to get well trained servers. Someone that professionally took our order and made sure the drinks were always available. 35/2024 Food 5 my last two orders were chicken dinner and pulled pork sandwich Ambiance 5 all kinds of space to roam after eating both inside and outside Service 5 Good service in general overall. Location 5 good parking lot Value 5. Daily specials

Currently sitting at our table. The people behind us and to the side of us were seated after us, ordered after us, ate their food and paid before we were served our food. We did not have a complicated order. Kids grilled cheese, cup of soup, and a tenderloin sandwich. Our server came over asking if we needed more to drink. We responded "no, just need our food." The server then gave us a very snarky, "it's coming." When the food did arrive, the tenderloin was tasteless, the grilled cheese did not have melted cheese, and the French onion soup was so greasy I had to use numerous napkins to soak up the grease. Great, could have done with less attitude and a bit more apology for forgetting us. Just saying.

Came to visit Motorheads for dinner while in Springfield on a work trip. I visited on a Thursday night and from outside I had no idea how much this place had to offer! I figured I would be waiting awhile based on the parking lot but actually walked right in and found plenty of bar seating as I was solo. It was cool to see all of the old Route 66 photos on the bar top giving a glimpse into the history of the area. The wait staff was attentive and Malory was very helpful in answering any questions I had about the menu and local craft beer selection. I had the salmon that was on special paired with the house IPA. The salmon was cooked well and delicious. In the next room there was a large dance floor with a stage and fully packed with people line dancing! Everyone seemed to be having a great time and witnessed some more of the experienced dancers teaching others. There was also a museum that I was unable to check out this visit so will definitely plan to come back. All said, it's definitely worth a stop if you are in the area or passing through!

We were cruising through historic Route 66 (this stretch is called I-55 now) and stopped by on a whim! It's a beautiful tribute to motorcade memorabilia. The dining area is thoughtfully designed with gas pump chandeliers and a full-size motor replica in pride of place, adorning the walkway to the Motordome. The dining area struck an interesting balance between a dive bar and a gastropub. Our server was prompt, knowledgeable and attentive. Burger combinations were aptly motor-themed and a creative surprise!

Walk in and there are plenty of tables, a couple of gathering areas, standing room narrow tables, an outdoor area, and a room off to the side. I went for the Logboat Dark Matter which I have had before in a can and wanted to try on draft. I enjoyed it very much. You know what is great?! Since they don't have food, you can bring it in yourself. Both times our group has met up here Katie's Pizza is the choice and its in the same parking lot. You can't go wrong with Katie's. Wednesday nights they have Trivia and I stayed for the first round, it was very current for the current event category. Get a pizza from Katie's, go here, have a beer, have fun!

Buzz Bomb will get you buzzed real good…read more While Emily and I were sitting at Custom Cup Coffee, we were trying to figure out what was in the area that we could walk around to and get some food and a drink. While I made a general list of stuff to do in Springfield, we wanted to see what this part of Springfield had to offer. Buzz Bomb was on my list of places to check out and conveniently, it was about a 5 minute walk away. So, we took our coffees and hit the pavement. Emily and I were greeted by some very friendly bartenders and we took a seat at the bar and got to looking at their beer selection. Emily sampled two of their beers while I ordered the Nanner, Nanner, Nanner. She sampled my beer after her two samples and immediately ordered what I got. It's a hefenweizen that doesn't taste quite like a normal hefe. Usually, Emily can't stand a hefe but really liked this one. I thought it was decent but tasted like if someone who never had a hefe would make if they tried to replicate one. I ended up having two 5oz glasses of it while Em had just the one in the 40 or so minutes we were here. I've seen Buzz Bomb stickers at other breweries so it was nice to finally get to check them out. What I wasn't expecting was Buzz Bomb to be coated head-to-toe in stickers. Everywhere you looked, you'd see at least a handful of stickers on the walls, ceiling, cabinets, cooler, all over the bathroom and anywhere else you could put a sticker. The bartender hooked us up with a few stickers for our collection and then told us a lot of corny dad jokes. She was a hoot and helped make our time here really fun. She was also great at letting us know all the fun activities going on in Springfield during the summer. Unfortunately, we had to move on to the next spot as we were both hungry and didn't want the beer to hit too hard. That means Buzz Bomb is good for a spot of drinking but if you want food, you'll either have to go upstairs to the Korean BBQ place or pick out one of the many places in the area to eat. I'll definitely be back in the near future to grab a shirt (and more beer)

It's a hope in the wall kinda place with a really cool lighting fixture on the wall made out of pipes. Drop everything and go check it out! Not a lot of people here yet at 4:45 on a Friday but a few. Good music was playing and the gent at the bar hooked me up with a flight. I just told him to give me the best they've got and hopefully he did. We will find out together... The Barfight Brown Ale was up first. This is an American brown ale. This one took me back a little to the old days which got me into brewing when Pete's Wicked Ale was big. Nice brown with a bit more kick than your English milds. Helles Bound and Down is a very nice Helles lager. Not much else to say. True to style and tasty. Pennyweight Amber ale was next and honestly I didn't love it. It wasn't terrible by any means it just didn't speak my language. Last up was Walk of Shame a milkshake IPA which is a style I often enjoy. I liked this one, although it seemed a little light in flavor for a milkshake IPA. Of course it might just be my palate. Triple B is serving up some great beers. I also happened to be in just a few days after a big fire right across the street. Triple B was pulling together donations for the businesses and people affected which is so good to see. We spend far too much time arguing over politics and BS differences and not enough on what we have in common. Sad that it takes a tragedy to pull so many of us out of it. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery, and distillery, reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand. Yes, you will need to read into it a little to get the joke but I have confidence in you! I hope my confidence is not misplaced.

Kemp's is probably the best place to go eat in town it seems. A good reason is because there's not much else. The food is pretty average but there's some good things for adults and families. Certainly explains why it gets busy. People only have a few choices and this is one of these. It's about $6 for a basic cocktail. Whole lot of great stuff including whiskey. It's about $5 to get appetizers. We got the Chips And Salsa. Has a lot of greasy fried things like wings and other meats. The menu is pretty standard as far as fried stuff. Has a lot of the basics. The staff here was fabulous with a special shout-out to John. What I found particularly impressive was the amazing selection of craft brews for a small town. The staff was particularly knowledgeable about both the selection and even the breweries that supplied them! I even found some of my favorite and uncommon Chicagoland brews, although I selected some excellent brews from the Bloomington/Normal area. ( Drink local!) Food was wonderful and quickly delivered. I gave five stars on food because it is top quality relative to pubs in general. The Blue Cheese burger was great. I sampled the butterflied pork chop sandwich of the other meal we had and that was a standout! Ambiance is nice as if fitting a local pub in an older downtown building. One notable feature is the walls and ceiling are covered in banners and flags of various kinds which dramatically limits the amount of background noise that would normally be in such a building. There is also a nice outdoor beer garden. This local establishment is well worth the extra minutes off Interstate 55. Also highly recommended to cycling who travel out to the northeast terminus of the trail!
