In Springfield for the weekend to attend the Mother Road Route 66 Car Show, and of course the weekend wouldn't be complete without a meal at Route 66 Motorheads. We were seated immediately and our server came right over and took our drink order. We settled on Onion Rings to start after a recommendation by our friendly server. She was right. They were piping hot, the crunchy coating and the onion was so tender on the inside, we managed to clean the plate. Pizza sounded good and they looked great as servers walked by with them. So pizza it was, and it was delicious. Route 66 Motorheads is more than a restaurant, it is a museum, incredible bar area and all around car showroom. There is so much to look at and see. It was a really fun destination with great food and drinks. There is plenty of parking in their own lot and the place does get busy. While we ate around 7 pm during the week we were seated right away, but you can expect a wait at times. read more

En route home from St.Louis and I was desperate for a decent meal. We tried to go to Cracker Barrel but they were packed and this place was two minutes away so I figured it was worth a shot. We were seated immediately. Orders were taken immediately. Adam got himself an order of corn dogs. Tony and I split the cheese cuds and nachos. Both were excellent. Cheese curds especially. The nachos were unique in that it was potato skins not corn nachos. Adam seemed to think the corn dogs were okay. Service was good overall. I enjoyed all the Route 66 memorabilia in the restaurant. No problems until the end of the meal when the place got super busy. I ordered us the Cookie DeVille. Big cookie with ice cream inside. After I ordered it the service slowed way down and we had to leave to get home so we eventually just got the big cookie with no ice cream. No adjusted bill either, so I never paid for it so I guess no harm done but I was irritated. Takes my review to three stars from four. read more

DH took me here for the Mother's Day Brunch buffet. If you've never been to Motorheads, you have no idea where to go. We ended up just following the crowd. For the buffet, you pay first then find a table. OK, just don't chit-chat so much -- take the money and move on to the next party. We paid and found a table -- boy, it is loud in there!! We headed to the buffet. Scrambled eggs were in the first container. OMG, they looked terrible!! Scrambled eggs are not supposed to be brown!! Thankfully, they had an omelet/eggs to order station so I was able to get scrambled eggs that were correctly prepared. The bacon was under-cooked and the sausage was tasteless. Cottage fries were ok. All of the breads and pastries were probably from Sam's. Coffee and juices were included in the price and the orange juice was good. You could order Bloody Marys or Mimosas for more $$$ but we stuck with coffee and juice. For the price, I would not go back. The buffet was kept re-stocked and the staff on the floor were friendly, but it just wasn't what I was hoping for on Mother's Day! read more

Currently sitting at our table. The people behind us and to the side of us were seated after us, ordered after us, ate their food and paid before we were served our food. We did not have a complicated order. Kids grilled cheese, cup of soup, and a tenderloin sandwich. Our server came over asking if we needed more to drink. We responded "no, just need our food." The server then gave us a very snarky, "it's coming." When the food did arrive, the tenderloin was tasteless, the grilled cheese did not have melted cheese, and the French onion soup was so greasy I had to use numerous napkins to soak up the grease. Very neat old fashioned car diner. The atmosphere was a vibe, but the service could have been better. We had stopped in on our way through town and once we arrived we realized there was some sort of car show. For there being an event the staff was not very friendly nor attentive. Hostess was nowhere to be found when we arrived so we seated ourselves at the empty bar and I'm glad we did because I think if we were at a table we would have waited even longer as people only continued to arrive. We all had decent meals for the size and price. I had the Grilled Salmon Salad that was pretty good. My boyfriend said the tenderloin was good but slightly bland. Our friends had the southwest egg rolls and a wrap that they enjoyed but nothing too special on the food spectrum. I haven't seen the live music but I'm sure it's a great venue with plenty of parking and food to eat and memorabilia to walk off a big meal. This place used to offer a yelp check in special of a draft or a cup of chili. I had them both and I prefer the beer more than the chili. Psst. Came to visit Motorheads for dinner while in Springfield on a work trip. I visited on a Thursday night and from outside I had no idea how much this place had to offer! I figured I would be waiting awhile based on the parking lot but actually walked right in and found plenty of bar seating as I was solo. It was cool to see all of the old Route 66 photos on the bar top giving a glimpse into the history of the area. The wait staff was attentive and Malory was very helpful in answering any questions I had about the menu and local craft beer selection. I had the salmon that was on special paired with the house IPA. The salmon was cooked well and delicious. In the next room there was a large dance floor with a stage and fully packed with people line dancing! Everyone seemed to be having a great time and witnessed some more of the experienced dancers teaching others. There was also a museum that I was unable to check out this visit so will definitely plan to come back. All said, it's definitely worth a stop if you are in the area or passing through! read more

We were cruising through historic Route 66 (this stretch is called I-55 now) and stopped by on a whim! It's a beautiful tribute to motorcade memorabilia. The dining area is thoughtfully designed with gas pump chandeliers and a full-size motor replica in pride of place, adorning the walkway to the Motordome. The dining area struck an interesting balance between a dive bar and a gastropub. Our server was prompt, knowledgeable and attentive. Neat place. Decor is cool but unfortunately my shrimp tacos were missing half the ingredients. Came with only shrimp and coleslaw so it was okay but not great. Three of us visiting Hannibal from San Antonio drove to Springfield to see the Lincoln museum, library, and home on 4/15/25. Before we went to the Lincoln stuff we ate here. Two of us had the Cobb Salad, which was loaded with deliciousness. It was one of the best either of us had had. The third of us had the pulled pork sandwich, which was reported as good. The homemade chips were, however, undercooked and chewy. The seasoning was just so-so. read more

Bar food is good. The old-fashioned were really good. Service was fantastic, Gina is funny, friendly, welcoming, and professional. I like anything Route 66, have done the trip from Jackson & Michigan Ave to Ocean Drive in Santa Monica in 2003 (no highways) and back the same way in 2012 (many parts were closed). Chicago to Texas all Old Mother Road to Oklahoma City, and any chance I get I'll jump on old Route 66. So my son, as we attended the Illinois State Fair, took me out here for a few drinks. Me and my family went to the iconic Route 66 diner the service was poor . We waited about 20 minutes before the were brought to us. We learned that they increased the price from $10-$13. They no longer provide the hot buns with the did not receive refills nor did they ask. The sauce bottles on the tables were empty.. we asked about the hot buns or bread and we were told that takes away from them making . Sadly this is going to be my last visit here. read more

We took out of town guests there one evening. The business has a real kitschy look from the outside- and although we'd never been- we thought it seemed touristy. We sat at a high top in a large bar area. We started with a variety of beers- they have a good selection of beers and mixed drinks. Had the onion rings and "lug nuts" (cheese curds) for appetizers- fried onions and fried cheese were pretty much what you'd expect- not bad and not special. The dining crew ordered a variety of burgers and everyone thought their burger was tasty. The server was nice and attentive without being overbearing. After dinner we went into the "museum" area- which was really a lot of miscellaneous junk and the warehouse smelled musty. I don't think I'd go back- even with visitors. I was looking forward to eating and looking around here for my mini-trip to Springfield. Instead, I was just disappointed. Not saying this place is bad, but it could be better for what it is. First, I ate. They put me in one of those rooms with screen windows. With a huge loud fan blowing near me. TV not working. I order a hamburger horseshoe. It was alright...there was something about the cheese, in a negative way, I can 't explain. It tasted like bottom of the barrel cheese. Didn't tell the waitress. Speaking of which, I only saw her twice. Someone else brought me my meal. No tip for her! It was during dinner time so no surprise the place was crowded. Also, a car show was going on and there were loads of people just walking around outside. I couldn't go into the museum as it looked closed. I think they had another one there but it looked like a greenhouse(?). I'm a big Route 66 enthusiast, having traveled the whole Mother Road, and it's great they care a lot about preserving the memories of the highway. Plenty of old stuff and memorabilia on the walls. I appreciate the owner's enthusiasm as well. But make it more tourist-friendly. They have a great menu and all. Oh, and too many doors to get through. I felt weird after opening the third door and asking the cashier "Where do I sit or be seated at?". The dude just pointed to a random waitress and that's how I ended up with her. read more

I've been hearing so much about this place on a local foodie page that we had to give it a try while in town. Unfortunately it happened to be on the day that their flooring was being replaced in the kitchen so they had just a snapshot of their regular menu avail to order from. As we waited for our food to come up we kept busy looking at all the decor in every direction. It's really a fun step back in time! We shared a burger and a BBQ sandwich and some fries. The standout for me was the BBQ beef sandwich. It was exactly as I like them and I could have eaten two it was so good! Our waitress was grace under pressure as she had to navigate what I can only imagine was difficult terrain in the kitchen! The service was atrocious. I brought my out of town family here and myself, my fiancé and our daughter and it was all of our first times. I've been waiting and so excited to try this place for their daily deals. We sat ourselves since we stood at the front forever with no directive and no guidance or welcoming. We sat for about 20 minutes before we had to find someone to ask if we could get drinks, menus, etc. It took another 20 minutes just to get our drinks. Then another hour for our food and nobody ever checking up on us and never any refills on the drinks, either. The food wasn't the best and at this point, our daughter was done with waiting and we were all in a bad mood. Immediately regretted choosing this place for dinner. I don't think we will be coming back. Very unfortunate because it must've just been an off night but it wasn't even busy. Just sad. read more

This was my second time going to Motorheads. It's about five minutes from my mom's house so a great option when I'm here visiting to get my SPI must have ponyshoe fix in. This visit I meet a friend here for dinner and drinks. The weather was absolutely perfect allowing for us to sit outside. The server was spot on. The place was packed but she was attentive and there when we needed drinks or anything else. The Route 66 car show was going to happen a couple days after we went here, so there were so many super cool old cars in the lot. As for the food, last year I found a restaurant in CHS that had buffalo cheese curds and I feel in love. Hard to believe this cheese lover had never had a deep fried curd until that day. Needless to say if I see them on a menu it's a must have item for me! They don't toss theirs in buffalo sauce but you can ask for a side of the sauce and dip. And dip we did, and it was fantastic! I went traditional and got the hamburger ponyshoe. The hamburger patty was seasoned really well. Because it was seasoned so well, a bite with all parts of the shoe; a fry with cheese sauce, the meat, and Texas toast was the perfect bite. I didn't get close to finishing it but what I did eat was another SPI must have that hit the spot. Until my next visit, thanks for the great food and service Motorheads. read more
