Sadly, I was given a very thin slice of corned beef with some sauerkraut and dressing. I also had ordered sweet tea and was given one sweet tea with a refill of unsweet tea. Corner Pub and Grill is busy on a Saturday afternoon. It has several big screen TVs for sports events. It is good for friends gathering to watch sports. It has a casual vibe mainly for sport fans or someone for a casual glass of drinks. At our visit, service was prompt but food was ridiculously bad. We ordered a nacho appetizer with chicken, with cheese sauce on the side. When the nacho has arrived, cheese sauce is flooding the plate. The chicken on the nachos was disgusting and had some weird taste. Met up with friends for drinks and apps. The staff was stellar and the food was delish! Girls were friendly and accommodating regarding food allergies. This is a casual eatery known for serving up a Springfield tradition and food staple: the "horseshoe," which is a slice of bread topped by some meat overlaid with French Fries, with the whole lot then smothered in cheese sauce. Lunching with Diane and her best friend from high school, I ordered a Hamburger Horseshoe, the components of which were Texas Toast, a huge hamburger steak, mushrooms, grilled onions, and hand-cut homemade fries topped by White Cheese Sauce. It was a meal in itself. Unfortunately, I found that I did not like this concoction. To me the bread was superfluous, and I prefer my fries--topped by cheese or not--next to a hamburger patty or hamburger steak instead of on top of it. The warm cheese sauce dominated the dish and caused the fries to quickly become sodden. And, fairly soon downing repeated mouthfuls of this cheesy mess became boring. The steak also was not medium rare as ordered. The fries were good but there were too many of them. Diane's Pony--a junior horseshoe with less fries--was too spicy for her taste. Then her ordered Pork Tenderloin with cheese arrived without cheese. There were other miscues here. There was a long wait for food after ordering. Unsweetened Tea was brought instead of ordered Sweet Tea. And a large fly inside the restaurant jumped on one of my tablemate's sweater. Horseshoes and horseflies? Cass and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, food was good, we order Chicken Strip Basket you could see all the delicious spices in the battered Chicken strips, fries were cooked to a perfect golden brown to top it off with the amazing sauces they offer. A young woman at the bar yelled, in conversation with friends, that some dude "ACTS like he has a Big Dick! " and has no reason to be arrogant. She then yelled again that "HE HAS A 6inch PENIS!" Which she stated more than once. There were grandparents in the dining area, parents with teens, and families with 3 year olds. No one representing mgt asked her and friends to leave. College-aged, post-college aged act as if they're entitled to be publicly stupid. I've posted this incident on their FBook page and looks if no one has reviewed it yet. The food used to be very good here but the past couple of years it has gone down hill drastically. The biggest change I noticed was anything that had chicken as it tastes like the cheap frozen chicken you microwave. Most of the other dishes, grinder, Italian beef, wraps, etc are very mediocre and have no unique taste. We went here other month and sat outside but the service was terrible after our initial order was made. The soft drinks didn't taste right, getting refills were not happening without having to constantly ask. When we we were done eating we asked for to go containers and never got them. It took another 15 minutes and asking 3 other workers before our original server gave us them... They also did not sanitize tables very well as when a patron left an employee gave it a quick wipe, didn't wipe down the napkin holder or any of the chairs. read more

Cute high cholesterol place! Went for the lunch rush. Close to the office, a good amount of seating and a friendly happy staff! 3 our 4 went for hte mac n cheese. I went for the salad. The salad is HUGE, the mac n cheese i was told was amazing. Plenty of options on the menu, even the famous horseshoe. Bar looks cute and fun for after hours. During lunch even high noon will allow you to get a seat and get served and return to the office in an hour. If you are on an expense account keep a picture of the detail receipt before you pay. I've eaten at the Corner Pub twice, and had great experiences both times. The first time we just had drinks and some snacks. The bartenders were friendly as can be, and the food and drinks all came quickly and everything was good. The second time I came with my family, 10 of us, including three kids. The servers were fast, friendly, and got everything right. Our server also made some very good recommendations, including telling us that we ordered too much food! I always respect when they are honest and don't try to oversell you! Smart business model folks, I'll be a returning customer. As for the food, keep in mind that it is a BAR. I am not expecting 5-star french cuisine, but the things they do, they do well. The horseshoes are delicious...dare I say...as good as that other Springfield standard. We tried the horseshoe pizza. It is very filling, to say the least. I still prefer the classic horseshoe...I think the fries get too soggy on the pizza, but everyone else really enjoyed it, so I'm in the minority. We like the food...really good salads, house dressing is very good. The horseshoe pizza is pretty yummy. Atmosphere is typical bar and grill. I'm giving 3 stars not 5 because they recently put in gaming machines into this small room. I watched as some young server yelled at a dad and his 2 year old daughter when the little girl went into the room. She was attracted to all the lights. So then after we ate my 6 year old son and I were waiting for my husband to use the restroom. My son stepped into the gaming area for all of 3 seconds when another young (rude toned) server girl game over to tell me "he can't be in there". RELAX a little people. One, put a door on the room. I'm not from Springfield so I'm not sure if this carries any weight, but I have had the 'shoes at Darcy's, Norb Andys, Dublin Pub, and maybe one or two other places and I think Corner Pub has the best fries! Best Horseshoe I think goes to Norb Andy's because I loved their cheese sauce which makes the horseshoe to me, but if spuds are your deciding factor then Corner Pub has the Shoe for you. Also the Italian beef is good, pizza is pretty good, and really my family members nor myself has ever had anything bad when we go here. It's a nice alternative from a lot of the other pubs that have been around longer. The atmosphere is great, love the decor. The food is above average pub fare; nothing in this town is what I consider "great," but this is about as good as it gets here. I've yet to try their original "pizza horseshoe," but I'd be lying if it didn't catch my eye every time I'm in there. The atmosphere is very nice, good decor and friendly wait-staff for the most part. I've caught a few of the girls on what I assume is an "off day," but hey no one's perfect. Beer selection is pretty good for the area. I like all the Schlafly offerings you really don't see in any other pub. As per usual, the tap selection is minimal. I've never understood why so many Irish pubs stick with just the basic Irish selections-surely it can't sell well. Overall - a nice place to get a burger and have a few beers. But now that I've been diagnosed with celiac and require a gluten free diet, there are very few choices here for me because they don't offer a gluten free bun, unlike Finley's and Home Plate. AMAZING! First time eating here and I was pleased with everything! We came here because everyone was crazy about the horseshoe pizza. I just got a ham horseshoe, but it was awesome! I ordered extra cheese, unsure about how much cheese sauce would be on it. Some places like to skimp on the cheese, but CPG loaded it on! Plus I had an extra side of it, just in case. Their chicken & bacon horseshoe pizza looked fabulous, and according to them, tasted even better. We were waited on by Shannon and can I say that she was an absolute angel?! She was so friendly and kind. She checked on us frequently, even though the restaurant was busy. She even complimented my purse. Shannon made turned this good experience to one that was over the top! Corner Pub is alright. Falls somewhere between Dublin and D'arcy's. Same kind of atmosphere, same kind of menu. Corner Pub gets points for originality. Horseshoe pizza? So weird, but actually pretty good! Sometimes the fries on the pizza are totally inedible from being burnt, but it still works. Fries are not my favorite. Every time I've gone it's just a plate of broken bagglers. I don't know if it's just bad luck or how their fries actually are. Always order cheese sauce. Always. Service hasn't been memorable, but I guess that's better than being bad. Beer offerings are pretty standard with a couple of good specialties. Bloody Mary is SPICY. But good!
