I see a couple of negative reviews on here saying that the staff wasn't professional or no one picked up the phone, other nonsense and I have to say this was NOT my experience at all and we've been going to the funeral home for years with the same funeral director (Tom Roemmelt). The staff is extremely accommodating. For our most recent funeral, our beloved Auntie Ro loved playing the lottery. And we mentioned we wanted to have some sort of floral arrangement that would somehow honor that. Tom says "let me see what I can do." He calls up the florist, explains to them the situation, and a few seconds later he hangs up and looks at me and my wife and says "It's done." And sure enough, the arrangement came out BEAUTIFULLY, and everyone who came to the service loved it. And it provided quite a few smiles on such a dark and sad day. Also our beloved Auntie Ro was 95, and Janitza Soto made her look absolutely wonderful. They dyed her hair *exactly* the way she liked it and did her makeup flawlessly. Rose would have loved it. They took every single instruction and request we gave them and executed it perfectly right down to the pink rosary we gave them to have Auntie Ro was holding in her hands. They never once rushed us. Or pressured us. And they were always at all times professional, courteous and respectful. Tom even gave me his personal cell number to contact him directly no matter what time of day or night. To which, last minute things came up and I had to text him at midnight at he responded IMMEDIATELY. Cannot say enough nice things about this funeral home and staff. Highly recommend working with them. AAAAAAAA+++++++

They picked up her remains, cremated her in a timely fashion, returned over paid money without request, were there for me at any moment when I called with questions and could not be any more professional. Lori the daughter of the the generational owner was superb. I went to the parlor about 2 months after the cremation as I wanted to have prayer cards made. They pulled her file within 30 seconds. I was taken care of by a young man that is somewhat new in the business, but he was wonderful too. We designed, ordered and paid for the cards in twenty minutes. They then allowed me into their chapel to say a prayer or two. There will be more services needed in my lifetime and I will be sure to use this parlor and family owned organization. Matter of fact I will be sure to have my family use it for my services. Their prices are also the best around. Thank you for everything. Mary M

What started as an awkward query on the price of a funeral for my mom who just passed the evening…read morebefore, turned into an experience I never imagined would be so seamless to get through. I never wanted a viewing because you want to remember your loved ones as they were, but once I saw mom after her passing, I had to allow others to see her one last time. Ralph Cerasuolo, funeral director, invited us into their office and sat us down and asked what was it that we were looking to do. From there, the conversation slowly evolved from pricing a funeral to hobbies and travel and Italy. Ralph made it easy to do what I needed to get done for Mami. While Ralph complied a price list, he let us browse through a prayer book catalog and I was so happy to find Mami's favorite patron saint as one of the selections. It's not a common saint to find and I found Him here at Riverdale Funeral Home. Preparing for this day, a few months ago, I started a photo slideshow project of Mami's life and I wanted to bring a projector with my iPad to the viewing. I was so happy to learn that it wouldn't be needed as Riverdale Funeral Home provides a large flatscreen TV with plenty of HDMI plugs for use with devices to display photos and memories. I was also contemplating in bringing bottled water for visitors but had no time to get a case. No worries again. When I arrived for Mami's viewing, there were plenty of carafes of water throughout the room alongside cone paper cups. Another stress reliever that they supplied these simple amenities. On the day of her viewing, Mami looked absolutely beautiful. One of my worst fears all my life was to see her on a day like this and have that last memory of her not looking like herself but she looked like she was sleeping, completely rested. She had her costume jewelry on, just as she did in life and looked like she was just waiting to head to one of her parties. My heart was filled with so much happiness. I cannot thank Ralph enough for his knowledge and in being the one to assist us with Mami's arrangements. James Winkle, their office manager supervised Mami's visit and he is a dear to engage with as well. The funeral home itself has a very cozy feel with warmth when you walk in. One truly feels they are with family through the process. Riverdale Funeral Home made this sad loss of ours a beautiful memory we will always remember. Thank you for this. This is probably one of the worst reviews I have ever written for any place, but here we go…read more I will start by saying there was absolutely no crowd control at this place. My family and I weren't even able to get through to my family members viewing room because the first room was flooded with people. They didn't not fit in the room and were all in the walking area and no way around them all. Please do not get me wrong. I know they were all their for a loss just like my family. My issue was not with them at this point, but with the lack of staff to control the amount of visitors they had at once. We were unable to properly and comfortably mourn out relative because of how loud they were. We then found out two fights broke out during their viewing. The parking lot wad full of liquor bottles (some broken) which we had to move to the side in hopes we did not run over and catch flats. Now to the worst part and I will not get into specific details, but here we go. My relative wad not taken care of the way they should have been. The body was decomposing meaning they did not do something right on their part. Those who saw this relative when the casket was opened were in shock. Yes we know the Deceased person will not look like what the would if alive, but this was something unexplainable. The odor coming from the body was horrific. This was not what the family paid for, this was not what anyone wanted to know as their last memories of this person. If you ever think about coming to this or any of their locations at that I truly hope you reconsider. I have no clue how they are even still in business. Families and the deceased deserve much more respect.
