It may seem a bit odd to write a review on a funeral home but I feel that a death is one of the hardest things to have to deal with in life, whether or not the event was expected. Sometimes it is difficult to navigate the organizational process, from informing family and friends to choosing the right place that will do their very best to assist you during this difficult time, facilitate the process and lessen the burden. When my brother-in-law passed, very recently and very unexpectedly, we were all stopped in our tracks as to how to go about with planning his services. He was young and it has been a very difficult time for his mother (my MIL) and his older and only sibling, my husband. Unfortunately, since I've been with my husband, I've attended more than my share of funerals for members of his family, many of whom lived well into their old age after living their lives fully and happily. We were at an impasse with this solemn occurrence. Someone suggested Sisto to my MIL and when she called, they were very accommodating and made an appointment for the following week. Hubby and I met her at the appointment. Ralph and Frank were working with us from the start. We initially met with Ralph and he assured my MIL that they would make the occasion as special and respectful for the remembrance of my late brother. He served in the military and they offered a flag ceremony with the honour guard. The pricing was reasonable and they worked with us to ensure that we were only billed for the essentials. Ralph even helped with contacting the necessary military organizations for reimbursements. They have an interactive website that made uploading photographs very easy for family and friends. They also put together a beautiful video for the services of which we were able to receive a copy and provided us with thank you cards for all who visited to express their condolences. There is parking on site and the location was perfect since the cemetery was in such close proximity. Everyone at Sisto was so very nice and helpful, making this sad time a lot easier to deal with. The chapels are in very good condition; they are well-maintained. We were able to organize a wake within the week with the funeral the following day, informing people without any issues. While no one looks forward to visiting a funeral home, it is definitely reassuring to know that homes like Sisto exist, with staff that have your best interests at heart, more so than what they can get out of the transaction. Losing a loved one is never easy and it's never easy planning a funeral. People don't know how to do that until you lose someone and my family didn't know the first thing. My brother passed and he was military overseas and we were lost on how to do things and confused with military processes. Frank was amazing and treated my family like his own! We were even able to have his service the day after Christmas, 12/26/21. He helped us step by step, accommodated the situation that my brother was coming from overseas, and was available to answer our 1,000 questions. He knew the military process well and worked directly with the military to set up the arrival and military honors, taking that off our hands. The funeral home was so clean, they provided masks, sanitizer and even water to the guests. We asked to be able to put personal pictures every where and they allowed it and in fact had it set up when we got there! They have a parking lot which helps. The staff at Sisto are amazing. Ironically, my family and I originally went to Schuyler Funeral Home first because we were referred there but had a horrible experience with a cruel heartless woman. We got out of there and walked over to Sisto and not only were they nice, they went above and beyond. When we walked in, John and Ralph were there. We sat down with John and he is she sweetest person and the line of communication is awesome.
