I loved the Chile fixing mix. I used this as my base for several Chile cookoff's. Have been disappointed that it is no longer available.

My family and I went to Dos Olivos Market for dinner. My husband made a reservation but we really…read moredidn't need it. We walked in, told the person at the front our name and were seated quickly. The restaurant is nice. It includes a little market in one section with various food items that you can purchase. There is also a seating area with couches near the market section. The restaurant has different sized tables for seating. Not long after being seated we were greeted by a waiter that did an excellent job taking care of us the entire time we were there. He took our drink order, gave us menus and some time to decide what we wanted. After a few minutes he brought us our waters and took our order. We ordered several items. El Olivo which is a garlic bread. It was okay. The bread was good. It was nice and warm and the garlic flavor was all on top. Whipped Feta which comes with grilled Naan and cucumber slices. The Naan was okay. It was a little cold and needed to be warmed up a little more for my liking but my kids ate it up. The cucumbers were fresh and crisp and the whipped feta was pretty good. It had a slight lemon flavor but not enough to where you could taste the lemon with every bite. Pork belly chicharron which had pork with avacado covered in a sauce. It came with tortilla chips. The tortilla chips were thick and crispy. Perfect for scooping up some of the pork belly. The pork belly was delicious. The sauce that covered it added flavor and the avacado was fresh. The Lamb chops came with Lamb, carrots and a puree. The lamb itself was excellent. It was cooked perfectly and was tender with each bite. The carrots were slightly sweet and the puree was soft. It was a good mix of different textures with each bite. The Truffle mac and cheese was a macaroni and cheese with chives and truffle flavor. This was very tasty. The macaroni was tender, the chives were spread out and added that slight onion flavor. The cheese was very flavorful. One of my kids ate almost all of this. Barbacoa Doughnuts which are mini doughnuts filled with barbacoa topped with a salsa. I don't really like barbacoa but I tried them and was pleasantly surprised. These were delicious. It was basically a soft and warm mini doughnut filled with flavorful barbacoa. The sauce on it added a slight spicy flavor. Patatas Bravas are potatoes with salsa and a garlic aioli sauce. These were very tasty. That salsa and aioli sauce are what gave this dish all of its yummy flavor. The potatoes had a crispy exterior with a soft interior. All of the ingredients mixed together made a very good side dish. One of my sons ordered the Dos Olivos Burger with Tater Tots. He said that the burger was okay. I tried it and I agreed. The tater tots were good. He ate those up with some ketchup. My other son ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwiches with everything on the side. He substituted a salad instead of the fries. He ate the salad up. He also ate the Fried chicken from the sandwich. He said it was good. He is not a fan of sesame seed bread so he opted not to eat the bun. I tried the red cabbage apple slaw that it comes with and it was okay. Lastly I ordered the Beet Salad which comes with beets, pears, and candied pecans. I don't usually eat beets but I wanted to try it. It was very good. The beet chunks were large and soft but not overly soft. The pears and the candied pecans added a crispier texture and the mixture of all of the ingredients along with the sauce that was on it made this a super sweet beet salad. Almost like a dessert. It was delicious. Overall the restaurant is a cool spot to visit. The market is a neat addition that adds to the ambiance of the restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.

I have been making Buda's Farmer's Market my ritual every Sunday, as I usually get there around Noon time which still gives me a couple of hours to graze and browse and shop. I've met pretty much everyone there and it's got a nice selection of items as well. I know we're not supposed to have favorites, but I do have a few of them that I just visit on a regular basis. - Springtown Coffee Roasters - oh my goodness I love these ladies and their coffee! They have this really refreshing drink called the "Coffee Soda" - it's their Ethiopian blend mixed with carbonated water served cold, w/ ice, add some simple syrup - and WHOA! It's the best damn coffee drink I've ever had - no joke. Very refreshing, one of a kind, they need to bottle this up. I have bought a few of their coffee beans as they have a plethora of offerings. What I love about them is they offer high quality products, they know their beans, the origin, and have a specific roasting process that sustains the integrity of the bean. I can't say enough about them - only 4 bucks for a cup of coffee soda and they will give you free refills during your time there. Sometimes I come here just for their coffee soda - The pickles and jarred jelly couple up front - I have bought from them, and I love their garlic sweet and hot pickle chips. The juice can be used as a salad dressing too. Of the various pickles I've tried in the past from other vendors, these guys taste the best IMO. Huge selection too - The pickled green beans and beef / turkey jerky guy - - I buy from him on a regular basis. My favorite is the garlic picked green beans - LOVE THEM! Growing up in Michigan my bff's mom made the same and called them "Dilly Beans". I buy 3 jars at a time, you get a buck off, and if you spend a certain amount you get a $10 credit. Jerky is pretty solid too - the hot is really hot btw. He's an all around nice guy too. - The garlic puree lady - oh yeah - she makes this awesome garlic puree that you can basically put on ANYTHING! Very deep and potent garlic flavor, rub it on your chicken, I rubbed it on my grilled cheese before I put it on the skillet - WOW! I love garlic. - The kambucha girl - she's gone but her stand is still there, they have some unique flavors such as blueberry, peach, ginger lemon, and you can mix and match. I am a regular here and bring back the glass bottle and get a buck off. - The Empanada stand up front to the right - they are also at Sunset Farmers Market. My favorite is the bolognaise, brisket, and the strawberry / rhubarb. Love their sauces too! Other vendors I have bought from there and really like: - Fresh veggies - Fresh peppers - Salsa guy makes some good salsa (from Llano I think) - The cheese guy has some nice cold smoked cheeses - The salsa / tomato puree / bbq sauce / queso / jalapeno ranch girl - oh man she's got some goodies (also at Sunset). Best damn queso ever. Seriously. - Microgreen dudes - yes they are full of flavor and I love em There are a lot of great vendors here, many more that I may have forgotten, but I've always had a great experience here and everyone is always so very nice and pleasing.

Meridian is in downtown Buda and is connected to Zoi Wellness. We were able to park in the parking lot across the street. Upon walking in, the space had a rustic loft feel with lots of greenery. The furniture made it feel very cozy. I honestly didn't expect to find a coffee shop like this in Buda. The barista was very nice and gave recommendations. My mom and I both ordered Iced Pecan Pie Lattes which was a seasonal drink that they were featuring. We ordered our drinks to go, but then decided to sit in the cafe and enjoy our beverages. The coffee is legit! We both liked our beverages. I really enjoyed the pecan flavor and the sweetness level was perfect. The barista informed us that they make all of their syrups in house. I noticed that there were plenty of outlets for work or study. There's quite a bit of seating including couches. They have QR codes at each table that you can order from which is so convenient. In addition to coffee (which is served until 5 pm), they also have wellness drinks, wine, beer and cocktails. They have a nice sized stage for live music. I would love to go back in the evening for a cocktail and live music! I'm so happy to have discovered this gem in Buda!

As you walk in, you'll notice the building space has a store front where the sell other retail items besides food. You have to walk to the back to place your order at the counter, just follow your nose as you can smell the baked goodness in the air. You can see the bakers hard at work making everything fresh from scratch. I look at the display case of goodies and know I'll be leaving with more than I came on for. I look over the menu and order the croissant breakfast sandwich with sausage and 3 Danishes (cheese, blueberry, and strawberry). When they call my name, I pick up the order and find a seat in the neighboring spot which sell coffee, tea, and other drinks (see separate review for Meridian). The croissant breakfast sandwich comes with a scrambled egg, sliced link sausage and a green salsa that has a nice heat to it. The croissant itself it nicely toasted and just crumbles in your mouth as you take your first bite. The sandwich is hearty and will fill you up. When I get back home, I try the blueberry Danish and it's as good as it looks. Flaky crust with a great blueberry center filling. If you're ever in Buda, you should come and try the Teal House.
