The food was very affordable and didn't stand out, but for the value, it was standard (price met the food expectation). The website indicated they were open Sunday with free live music 2-5. Drove an hour only to find a locked gate plus a for sale sign. Had we looked at Apple Maps sooner we'd have seen "temporarily closed". Update your website people! Looks like "temporary" will become permanent soon. Good luck! read more

Hamilton Pool Vineyards is located at the former home of Westcave Cellars, whose owners took their business to the Johnson City area in 2020. So this is a relatively new business. Our party of two spent a couple of hours in the shady outdoor seating area, where we and quite a few others enjoyed perfect temperatures and some interesting wines. We chose to share a sampling of 6 different wines, some locally produced by Westcave and others bottled elsewhere. We ordered a Salumi board (similar to a charcuterie plate). It included several cheeses, 2 meat varieties, pickled red onions, beets, a bit of cucumber, grapes, and dates. This was not really as described in the menu, nor was there an assortment of crackers. The few water crackers that were included on a separate plate were stale and soggy, and we should have sent them back. But there appeared to be only 2 people running the show that day, so we were mindful of the situation and more tolerant. The location of this winery is lovely. We saw cows, a calf, and a longhorn in addition to sheep. The building looks new and is nice inside, and those working there are friendly. The vineyards did not appear to be well tended. I wish I could rate this place higher, and I am hoping for improvements over time. read more

I went here on a Saturday afternoon with a small group, and there were only a few other groups there with us. We sat outside on their lovely back patio, which has a view of their vineyards and some very cute cows! The one problem with sitting outside was the amount of flies constantly bothering us. I would highly recommend that they get some drink covers and something to deter the flies from coming to the tables. We all decided to go with the Complete Tasting, which is a tasting of 6 of their wines (2 whites, 1 rose, and 3 reds) for only $30. The wine itself was good, and we especially enjoyed the Gold Buckle red blend, which has won several awards. It's very sweet, like a dessert wine, and it was the perfect way to finish our tasting. According to our server, they just took over this winery about 2 weeks ago, so they're figuring out which wines to continue producing and which ones to get rid of. This also meant that she couldn't tell us very much about the wine since she wasn't that familiar with it, but I didn't mind since she was so nice and we could just read the descriptions from the menu instead. There was only one other person working, the sommelier, who seemed to be avoiding our table. I'm not sure if it's because we were younger than some of the other patrons, but I did feel a little unwelcome when we noticed our server asking him to tell us about the wines and him refusing multiple times. They definitely have some improvements to make in terms of service, but overall we enjoyed our afternoon here. read more

We had a great time! Family of four today with two Girls 5 and 10 and we loved it! We are exploring local vineyards and breweries today and started here. First of all the wine is really good! I rarely buy a bottle from one glass but did here. Second, they were so friendly and accommodating. We felt super welcome as a family. Third, they have cows to feed, a full farm, and much more! This vineyard is in a beautiful location - peaceful and scenic. The tasting room is big with picnic tables and a couple seating clusters of fluffy chairs. I did a complete tasting of 6 wines - all had good qualities, but I'm not a huge fan of whites. The bourbon barrel red was by far my favorite. It had a deep and luscious flavor. My friend really enjoyed the special mimosa. They also have some yummy snacks. The flatbread and charcuterie board were good but not great. The smoked, stuffed dates were amazing!!! The young woman who served us was knowledgeable and personable. My biggest issue was trying to get in touch with someone to make a reservation. I called, texted, and emailed for almost a month. Someone finally made the reservation for me. But, we didn't really need one. Our overall experience was definitely worth the struggle, and now I know I can make a Wine and Dine reservation online - and that's for a tasting. read more

This has quickly become our most favorite vineyard in Texas! We sat outside in the beautiful grassy area, with a view of the vines. It seems great for groups of all sizes, all ages, dog-friendly, kid-friendly, etc. the staff was friendly, easy-going and helpful. The wine tasting was amazing and every wine was better than the one before-- we were blown away! I am never the type to buy bottles to take home, but I made an exception here! Stopped by HPV recently on a Saturday. Staff was super nice, and very knowledgeable about the wines! We did the "super tasting," so we tasted everything in the house. The commentary accompanying each pour was along the lines "this is very different from what you're used to in this varietal...." The commentary was spot on. For our palates, however, the wines were not that exciting. Unusual, yes, enjoyable, not so much. read more

No apparent pride of ownership. Vines do not appear well cared for. Grounds need work. Steps to the tasting room are uneven and missing a stone. Restrooms (outhouses) are not easy to get to and could use some attention. Property is not ADA compliant - folks with mobility challenges will find it difficult. Wine okay, pizza okay. Location is great but that's about it. Spent over $70 for three glasses of basic wine and a so-so pizza. This place has such great potential. Too bad it's not better than it is. Soooo their Gold Buckle wine in divine.... really, it is. The Gold Buckle gets 5 or 6 stars!!!! It's one of our favorite wines ever...so we joined the wine club. We live almost two hours from the vineyard but not to worry they said--- they are at local farmer's markets regularly and we can just pick up or orders there. THEY SAY, but no. For delivery they assured us they would be at the local markets or "personally deliver our wine like they do for others", etc... so we didn't have to drive two hours to nowhere to pick it up, however, they didn't show up for deliveries at the farmer's markets they supposedly frequented, they don't return calls or texts and they don't care or even try. The customer service is exceptionally dismal, from nearly every employee there. The members of the wine club are not guaranteed the wine they are happily and speedily charged for. They did not actually have the wine that we had already been charged for when they should have had it. The tasting room happily sells all your wine to whoever walks in the door, NOT fulfilling the PREPAID and PREORDERED orders first, so when order time comes, they just shrug and say, too bad! If you are way out in the middle of nowhere and have a hankering for some wine, stop on it and try the Gold Buckle... knowing you're probably drinking some wine club member's wine, and like us, they will probably get fed up with being charged without product and being ignored and given the run around, and cancel their membership. This was our first visit to the winery and it will definitely not be my last. They have so many great wines. The moscato was so good, refreshing and not too sweet. The reds are also good. I think the one we liked most had the word buckle in it. We also had the chicken panini and it was so well prepared. The staff was all so very welcoming and seems to really get along as a team. It was such a nice atmosphere. They have live music on Sundays and an air b n b on site for rent. Highly recommend! read more

Dropped the bread on the way and then didn't replace it until we we had finished the cheese and fruit. We still bought two bottles. Tonight we opened the more expensive bottle and it had turned. We came here once before in 2020 for Halloween and had a great experience. Now 3 years later, we were excited to come back. Definitely not the same experience. There was a charge for entry and then everything else except the hayride cost more money. Felt like they were nickel and dimeing. Food was good, but not ready at the start of the event and super expensive. Felt very unorganized with food not being ready which really threw us off, since we arrived right at noon with 3 hungry kids. Food was not available until about 2:30. Hayride was running at random times and we told our kids we could do that after eating. Finally got food and then it disappeared only to reappear as we were leaving. There weren't enough free things for kids to do compared to other pumpkin patches and festivals. Feel like we wasted our Saturday and got swindled. Honestly will never go back and definitely don't recommend. read more

We had a great time there last weekend. The wine is so good, some are so crisp and refreshing, perfect for a hot day. It wasn't crowded on a Sunday evening so we enjoyed the privacy of being alone with friends in the middle of the vineyard. They have a specious open bar with a fan that makes it very airy, and on the outside you are practically among the grapevines. The staff was warm and knowledgeable about wine. Great place for the whole family to enjoy. Beautiful view of the sunset too. Will be back for more tasting for sure! read more

Was so excited to check out this place today. Our server was okay, but describing our wine as tasting like an aquarium was a turn off. Also, there was a kid camp going on and children threw water guns at our table while we dined as well as crawled around by our table. Not the experience we'd hoped for. Our server ghosted during our meal and left us waiting over 30 minutes to pay so we could leave. Wanted to love this place, as it is a beautiful property with so much potential.
