Their experience and professionalism are second to none! I was playing older clubs and decided to upgrade. They went over every option from all the manufacturers. The first time I used my new clubs, I shot an 87, tying my best round ever. I shot even better in the third round I played, an 82! Got an iron fitting at D'Lance on Friday and all I can say is, it was an awesome experience. PJ went out of his way to make sure I got the right clubs for my swing. The fitting was supposed to be 90 minutes but ended up lasting a little over 2 hours. I really appreciate them taking their time to ensure I got the best possible fit. I went in leaning hard towards the TM P770, and walked out buying the Srixon ZX7 irons, they were just a much better fit for my swing. I was also surprised to find that I was better suited to a heavier shaft, however, my clubhead speed was over 5 mph faster without any extra effort. I'm a below average golfer but I have been around for family and friends fittings and I have been fitted for a putter but never a full bag so I have an idea how a normal fitting should go. I decided it was time so I scheduled a fitting with delance because they seemed like a reputable place that has a lot of experience in club fittings. What I found was a predatory business that tries to take advantage of new golfers that have no experience by convincing them they have to spend outrageous amounts on shafts to play the game well. I went through the 3. 5 hour process with PJ where I only swing the club maybe 40 times. What I scheduled and was looking for is a full bag club fitting but what I got was a shaft fitting. It was obvious by the end that they don't care about finding the right set up for you. They only care about getting the most money out of you by selling you aftermarket shafts that require secondary purchase instead of finding one that comes with the club purchase. For the entire 3.5 hour event I tried several shafts going back and forth but never a different club head. Pj just picked a club head out said this will work well and then went on with the shaft fitting. Typically brands will carry various shafts brands with different customizations that come with the purchase of the clubs but they had any interest in trying to find one of these shaft head combos. They never informed me of this or hinted that there were shafts that came with club purchase. Instead they wanted to sell me $1500 of shafts and another $1500 of heads and that's not even for a full set. It's clear they they operate a business model where misinformation and deception the cornerstone. This is how the fitting went: PJ picked out a nice mizuno club head which I did the entire fitting with. Then at the end of the fitting his recommendation was for a Srixon club that I hadn't ever hit but he suggested because he liked the company and they were $12 cheaper than the mizunos. When I asked if I could try different heads to see which feels best he said "your too tired it will just be a waist of time. Make Another appointment and we can fit you for those later" but it was clear he just wanted to be done. When I asked about fitting for a hybrid (which I asked for because I like hitting my dads) PJ refused saying I don't currently have one in the bag so I can't be fitted for it and "true golfers hit irons so I should just stick with a 4 iron" For the driver I was told that all the heads are the same so I should just pick the one that looks the best to me then he just fit me for the shaft. So he laid all the heads on the ground and asked me which one looked the best and said I should go with that one. We found the best shaft for me and a second one that was close but not as good as the first. When it came time to put together the recommendation me he looked at the prices and decided to recommend the second shaft that wasn't as good but was $80 cheaper. At the end of the process they had my bill at just shy of 3,000 for srixon (which I never once hit) and a driver that was right for me because i picked it out of a lineup. No hybrid because "true pros don't use hybrids" no 3 or 5 wood and was told to come back for those. De Lance is probably a great place for great golfers that are looking to fine tune their equipment and are willing to spend thousands to do so but to try to convince a 95+ golfer that they can only be good if they spend thousands of dollars on custom shafts and never hint that there are shafts that come with the club purchase is just wrong. Places like de'lance are preventing the growth of the game by operating in deception. It doesn't matter how bad of a job they do because they charge $225 for the fitting so either you fall for the trick of buying thousands of dollars of shafts from them or you don't they still make plenty of money. read more

I cannot say enough about this place. After a life of playing golf, I found a place that had a few answers to swing questions that have puzzled me for years. I went at the invite of a friend who was learning how to do "clubfitting", I was there for a free fit to give him experience. At D'Lance I met a young pro named Toby, who was running my friend through the training. The equipment D'Lance had was fantastic, high tech and used to assess portions of the golf swing that generated information necessary for the player to have equipment tailored to the individual golf swing. For almost 2 1/2 hours I was run through a series of evalauations that gave me a better understanding as what was going on in my swing and changes in equipment that would better suit my swing. Once the evaluations were completed, Toby suggested changes in shafts of both my irons, driver and fairway woods. Several shafts were evaluated with the information gathered from swings made with these, they were then compaired with swings made with my clubs. The difference was dramatic both in terms of performance and how the club felt to me. Example: dispersion (distance from shots landing left and those landing right) was a bit over 19yards with my club; following the changes, dispersion was 3 yards, with shots landing in the center of the fairway and almost 20 yards farther. Well, I was sold, and it took all of 5 seconds for me to request that their club making facility proceed with the changes that the testing recommended. I cannot wait to get my clubs back and get out and play. Anyone who is serious, or even semi-serious, or just wants to play better golf should visit this facility. The fitting itself will run you $200+, but it is well worth the price. D'Lance Golf not only does club fitting and club building, they have lessons from veteran professional golfers and practice facilities where you can have access to all the high tech equipment. D'Lance has been my go-to golf fitter in the Denver area for the past 4 years. My major reasons for choosing D'Lance was a) Trackman fitting with the golf ball I use (not a range ball), b) having the ability to try most any shaft and clubhead, and c) the non-OEM building of clubs to my specs (eg frequency matching - not just going by the shaft band flex rating). My first job was club building at Golfsmith. Few fitters around the area/country sort each component and build it to true spec. The lifetime fitting has been priceless, and I've used it over these past 4 years. I never feel like I'm being pushed for a sale. I've had clubs that performed well over time and there isn't a push to buy a club just because it's new. Dan's expertise in fitting has been invaluable. Lastly, the proof is in the results: my index dropped from the 6s down to 4, and I won my flight of the stroke play championship at my club. I'm updating my review -- dropping stars down to two. I think D'Lance has either gone downhill, or maybe my good experience was a fluke. I was seen by the owner himself the first time, and my next experiences have not been as good. I get the feeling that the guys who are actually putting clubs together just aren't paying attention, or if they are paying attention they are only focusing on even-higher-paying customers. It isn't just me -- good players and coaches in the area have the same story ... which is a) they charge too much b) I didn't get quality work for the price. The golf world is just different now than it was even 5 or 6 years ago when I first came to D'Lance. Everybody has launch monitors and fitting systems -- and you can buy almost any club, head, or shaft on the Internet, and pay someone to assemble it for you (club pro, or box store) and get a great product for half what these guys will charge you. I won't be going back, and I don't recommend them anymore to others. read more

Awesome!!! I'm a playing professional and have been going to D'lance for over 9 years now, averaging between 2-6 times a year to get my specs adjusted. Their location is in a good spot, about a 5 minute drive from the Park Meadows Mall. The day I walked in was my sophomore year in college, with a set of ping i3 blades and cleveland wedges and a Ping driver. We spec-checked the irons and they were all over the map. The flex consistency of the shafts was anywhere from senior flex to double x, with the 7 iron being closest to what I needed (wouldn't you know, that was my go to iron if I was in between clubs and about 90% of the time I hit it really straight and solid.) I went through the fitting and they set me up with a driver, a set of McGregor Irons, and reshafted my cleveland wedges. My Junior year in college I won 2 stroke play tournaments and was selected to the All-conference first team. Senior year I was the conference player of the year, after winning twice in the fall and twice in the spring, including the conference tournament by 3 strokes in crazy winds. Wouldn't have been able to do what I did with the crap off the shelves. Since then equipment manufacturers have done a lot better job, because shops like this all over the country started taking a big chunk out of their retail market. (read custom fittings) Have always worked with P.J. and Dan when I go in and they always take great care of me. Ridiculously knowledgeable about the game and the intricacies of getting the right club in your hands. Constantly getting the newest technologies and greatest equipment to make sure your fitting is top of the line. They have recently started doing more tip profile fitting, basically how stiff the tip of your club is right next to the clubface. Some people need a stiffer or softer tip than others based on swing speed, how fast they release the club, among other things. Also the tendency to twist the shaft microscopically at impact due to off-center hits will have a huge impact on whether or not your shot stays just in the rough, or out of bounds by 10 yards. I have since re-fitted and gone through 3 sets of great irons, 3 different drivers, and many fairway woods and wedges through D'Lance and they always get out a great product. When you buy the full custom fitting from them, you get free fittings for life. (not clubs, but the refitting) If your swing speed changes, your flex might change. If you are making a swing change, your lofts and lies might need tweaked so you can still hit the ball the same distance you're used to with a different swing and attack angle. Since my initial fittings, I went from a little more than 2 degrees upright, to being pretty standard, to just a touch upright with my shorter irons. (I'm not getting tall at impact and the club comes through on a better plane.) D'Lance has always checked my lie angle and adjusted my irons every time I come in to make sure I'm good to go. Love this place, ready to come back to Denver (live in Las Vegas) and check out my specs and see if they have anything new in the shop. 5 stars for the customer service and knowledge of golf clubs. These guys are great. If you want to take strokes off your game and hit it longer AND straighter, check this shop out ASAP!!! read more

Here's two examples of why this is not worth it. First, I get custom fit for a 3 wood and they put me in a shaft that is designed to make the ball flight higher. My miss is already high as I tend to release the club early. This is a clear example of wanting to sell a specific shaft with no regard for my particular swing. To make things worse, they charge my buddy $50 and they charge me $75 for the same service. In addition, they keep the original shaft from the club. Second, I have a buddy who bought brand new custom built Mizuno irons. He spent well over $2000, but it took two months to make the irons. In addition, they didn't say that it would take two months stringing my buddy out in the mean-time. I'd be happy to give them my repeated business if they simply provided what they advertised. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of custom fitters in Denver. Regardless, this place isn't worth a minute of your time. read more

I don't normally weigh in on sites like this, but after reading some of the comments I feel compelled to share my experiences and thoughts. I've been a customer with Dan and DLance for well over 10 years. They have built me numerous drivers, re shafted irons, and gone thru fittings and refittings. I live nearly 75 miles away so if I didn't think they were the real deal, I have other options. EVERY time I've worked with them, the customer service has been exemplary. They have even talked me out of new equipment when not to my benefit. See if Golfsmith does that for you... The proof is in the results at hand. I play to a 5 HC and DLance has helped keep me there (hey, I'm not getting any younger). I am still playing a five year old driver/shaft combo they built for me. Nothing new outperforms it. My 6 year old Mizuno irons were recently re shafted and I gained distance and accuracy. Dan and DLance are the real deal. We are very lucky to have them in CO! And yes, you do get what you pay for in this instance. read more

Really wanted to like these guys. I setup a fitting (several hundred dollars), went down and spent about 4 hours with PJ. Being a left handed player, they didn't really have anything setup to fit me, very few demo clubs, etc. PJ basically said "based on your swing - let's put you in this shaft profile. He's the pro, so I spent about 1500 for a driver shaft, hybrid shaft, irons and wedges. Wait a couple weeks, during which they're very non-committal about how long it will take for the clubs to be finished. I get the irons back - head to the range, and I've lost 2 clubs in distance. Where I was hitting my 7i 175, now I'm hitting it 150. If I hit a great tee shot with my Driver - It would be 305-320 out there - now, a pure driver goes 285. Called PJ back, arranged another session - went down, spent another few hours and basically heard from PJ that it is just me. These are the right shafts. Maybe I'm mistaken somehow. Well - ultimately, I took my second set of irons, had them built with DG s300 shafts, and I've got my yardages back, my shot dispersion is great, all is well. All told, I spent about $2000 with D'Lance for the promise of a better game, but all I got was heartache. Too bad. Would really have liked to be able to recommend these guys, but I can't. In a nutshell - it's your swing, it's your game, don't listen to anybody else if they try to convince you that they know best. When all is said and done- you own it. Lesson learned for me. read more

If you're looking for a high-end custom club fitter, it doesn't get any better than D'Lance Golf. For reference, I'm about a 4 handicap and play competitive amateur golf. Two years ago I was fitted for a driver, 3 wood, and hybrid from D'Lance and there's no question that their meticulous customization process pays dividends on the course. I immediately gained distance with each club, but my ball flight and trajectory were where I could really see the benefits of having a club set to your unique specifications. Well hit drives were high and boring with plenty of roll instead of landing and stopping like with my last driver. Unfortunately these clubs, along with the rest of my bag, were stolen from my car in December. The only silver lining in this was that I was able to go back to D'Lance for a free fitting (since it was my second time) and a brand new custom set. I spent a few hours with the very knowledgeable PJ last weekend and honestly had a great time trying out all the different heads and shafts and fitting instruments. My clubs are supposed to be ready in a week or two and I can't wait to hit them. If you're looking for a cheap set of clubs and/or don't care too much about what kind of shaft you use, you should probably look elsewhere. But if you're an avid golfer who doesn't mind spending a few extra bucks to get equipment perfectly tailored to your swing and style, D'Lance is hands down the place to go. read more

Took lessons from these guys a few years ago and it was miserable. The vast majority of the time, they just wanted to up-sell me on new clubs. I suck at golf and was trying to just start out with the clubs I already had. If I can't hit the ball half the time, I'm not going to magically start hitting it with $2000 worth of clubs. As soon as the "pro" realized I wasn't going to buy new toys, he lost interest in teaching me and stuck me on a big swing loop for my hour of lessons and went off to talk with the guy at the counter (probably laughing at my ineptitude at their beloved sport). I would have bought new gear, gladly, if they could have helped me play at least half-way decently. I honestly got more learning hanging out with a patient friend at the driving range. read more

Recently had a full custom club fitting. This is a relaxed environment that made me feel comfortable. The time and care taken to analyze my clubs and swing was terrific. I was amazed at the information I received and pleased with the focus of my fitter Dan. He knew exactly what was going on and how my game could improve. I'm a believer in good, well fitting equipment with any sport. If you are of like mind, D'Lance can help confirm your equipment is appropriate or hone in on what is. It is all done with the track man system that gives you unbiased results that you simply can't argue with. My clubs were a mishmash of weights and lengths from when I began golfing five years ago. Though I was able to adapt to them, it was clear from the charts that I was not getting the optimal results out of them. Can't wait to get my HC into the single digits (15 HC currently). read more

I've had 2 outdoor fittings over the last 10 years. This was my first indoor fitting. I was having trouble with some of the clubs I had made for me by the outdoor fitters. D'Lance gave me the full swing analysis and refitted the clubs was having the most trouble with. I saw an immediate improvement. My ball dispersion got much tighter and it made a huge difference in my scores. In a few weeks my handicap went from 15 to 12 with no swing changes. Custom shafts are expensive but worth every penny. I received a very good understanding of what the proper shaft can do for the average golfer. Most golfers would be much better off getting new shafts in their old clubs rather than buying a new set. I no longer waste my time trying out new clubs since there is almost no chance the stock shafts are the ones that will work for me. I did my fitting in the winter and PJ was very happy to spend a lot of time with me to work out all the details. A fitting can take a few hours but I'm glad I stuck with it. Larry G read more

D'Lance does a superb fitting. Did a Hot Stix fitting 6 years ago, the clubs were fine but my driver distance did not change appreciably and my irons still had the a 5 yard combo pull/draw. I am 6 handicap, age 66, so seeking consistency and distance. Dilance recommended I move to AP2 Titleist irons from the AP1 irons I had previously; they immediately ended my having to aim a little right with my irons to compensate for the 5 yard pull/hook my old irons produced. The lack of offset of AP2 did the trick as D'Lance thought they would. Also, having used the AP1 for 5 years I had forgotten how good a forged iron feels when I happen to hit one on the sweetspot. Also moving up a weight with the Aero Tech Steelfiber shafts also immediately made the iron feel more stable at the bottom of my swing instead of feeling a little flippy. Interestingly, my iron flight peaks at the same height as my old clubs but gets there in a more boring fashion instead of more straight up and for the first time in years, I can actually move my irons a little left to right, if need be instead of always playing a draw or a draw that turns into a hook. The driver has given me 10-15 yards of distance which I surely needed in the battle to stay somewhat competitive with the young bucks. The driver shaft feels better than any shaft I have tried in recent years. My handicap dropped one point just in the two months since receiving the clubs. My wife bought me a full fitting as a birthday present. I showed about 10 minutes early as I was in the area, filled out the info on the computer which took 5-10 mins. Proceeded to wait for almost an hour. My session finally began 45 mins. after it was scheduled, I was about 5 minutes away from picking up my bag and walking out. Granted we stayed half hour past my appt. as I was the last of the day, I would have rather not waited forever. I assumed they were neutral on manufacturers, but it's pretty clear they push PXG down everyone's throats. The guy checking out during my wait was given the hard sell on PXG, and that's all that was talked about the second I started. The guy had a PXG shirt on. While they are expensive clubs to begin with, its pretty evident they gouge you even further. While I may end up buying some PXG's, after a few quick conversations with buddies I found somewhere that can make me the same exact clubs and specs for more than $1,000 less. Definitely shop around the shafts, that's where they get you. While the fitting was valuable from a data perspective, I find it hard to believe they truly aim to get you into the equipment that's best for you, just the most expensive. read more

My experience was a bit disappointing. I booked a lifetime fitting and was very excited about going through the process. I arrived a little early and went through the interview process. After spending better than an hour telling me my equipment was inadequate, and I must have to adjust on every shot, I finally started to warm up an hour and a half into the fitting. And it wasn't with my clubs, which was a bit odd. There was never a baseline taken from what I use now so I'm not sure I ever got started on the right track. I was put into a shaft that I thought was way to stiff, and for me, had no feel. When I expressed that the fitter said, "that's the correct shaft for you." In the entire process I tried two shafts, and was never asked what club head I wished to try (which wasn't available). I tried two or three heads in the entire fitting (two that were $400+ per club). By the end I didn't feel like I had made any progress towards getting better fitted equipment. At 10 minutes to noon I was rushed out with a quote to re-shaft my existing equipment for a hefty fee. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly, I just didn't feel like I got the experience for which I paid. The lifetime fitting is good forever, but I don't see myself going back again. I feel like my experience is the few and far between at D'Lance and hope if you go to them they can help you! read more
